What are good film screen protectors for our device? With full coverage and proper cutouts. Clear and not soft.
Looks like there won't be any decent tempered glass option, so I'm starting this thread.
This is what I use, and I am happy with it.
I did figure out that it was polarized the other day when using my 10 for navigation in my car. I could not see it in portrait with my sunglasses on. I had to either turn my head or rotate to landscape to be able to see the phone display.
EDIT: The screen is polarized *Not* the screen protector

Spigen crystal is pretty good. I tried a couple of TGSP's and they sucked really bad so I turned to the PET film from Spigen. It's really thin, clear, and precisely cut. It could be a tiny bit wider, but it does cover the viewable area. It feels pretty decent for a film (not a lot of friction) and you can barely tell it's there. $7.99 for a 3-pack on Amazon.
I second the Spigen Crystal Film screen protector. I've been using it and it's done a decent job so far. Not as nice as a TGSP would be in regards to feel but decent smudge/fingerprint resistance.
Post some pictures of your phone with the Spigen film?
Patiently waiting for Maximus to come to the HTC 10

Currently awaiting my Spigen Crystal.
I've Spigen Crystal PET screen protectors were my go-to before tempered glass became the norm, so I'll probably be pretty happy with them (although I will miss the feel of glass)
Spigen Crystal
Fitment is perfect at the top of the phone. Could be wider but otherwise it's awesome.

This is the first picture I've seen regarding the fit of this screen pro. Cheers!
I'm using the Spigen crystal too; unless the light is just right, it's hard to see it at all.
The surface is less 'slippy' to the finger than the glass, but having used a similar protector (not Spigen) on my old phone, I find it familiar.
Definitely a much better fit than any of the tempered glass protectors.
However, I've noticed that it's much thinner/flimsier than the older Spigen Crystal PET protectors.
I split a 3-pack with two buddies of mine with the HTC 10, but unfortunately I think mine warped slightly during install:

Sent an e-mail through asking for a warranty replacement - we'll see if they are willing to replace it.
Other than that warp bubble, I'm pretty happy with it overall. Not as slick as glass, but does the job.

I found your post! I love your reviews, keep em coming !
I have the spigen based on comments here and I don't like it. The adhesion is poor and I already had to replace my initial protector after a week, not to mention its a little tacky and not smooth, and looks wavy and uneven under light. As far as dimensions are concerned its good, I just wish it lasted longer than a week.
Another vote for the spigen. Applied properly, mine has no bubbles and is not wavy. Also, the comments about it being too small are incorrect. It is sized perfectly for the flat part of the screen. At the edges on all sides the glass on the 10 is beveled. If the screen protector went to the edges there would be bubbles or the protector would peel off.
I just placed an order for the zagg film.
Ill report back when i receive it
Just received in the mail the spigen crystal screen protector, and incipio NGP case. Both fit perfectly! The screen pro fit as close to the edge as possible, and no issues with edge lifting while putting the case on the phone! After installing the screen pro there are very small little waves which I've seen on other screen protectors, which disappear within a day or two..
Prior to this film protector I tried the nillkin glass and was a horrible fit. (I did receive a refund for it however..)
I am now content with case and screen protector!
Cheers,
I installed Spigen crystal film, it could be 2mm each side wider but I dont mind. Its not bad.

I don't know if you figured this out yet, but it is your screen that is polarized, not the film protector you applied.
For some reason, the Tianma display panels are polarized. Probably for enhanced viewing in sunlight, is my guess.

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but for now it seems like we can't get a good screen protector for the S3. All the flexible film based protectors dent too easy. This includes protectors like the SGP Curved Crystal. This review below clearly shows what I mean about easily denting. It also has issues with tight fitting cases.
Then if we go for a screen protector that doesn't dent so easy, they end up not covering enough of the screen. The SPG Ultra Clear nano and Ultra Crystal (2nd version) both don't dent like the Curved Crystal, but they don't cover enough of the screen. Especially the sides. So swiping near the edges you can easily feel the ridge. Ruins the smooth experience of the S3. Would be nice if Spiegen does a revision of the Curved Crystal like they did with the Ultra Crystal and made it so it didn't dent so easily. I definitely don't want to go with tempered glass as its just too thick. I am currently using a Realook Flex Film, and it covers the whole screen nicely, but has orange peal and dents easy just like the other flexible films out there. Realook now has a "3D forming crystal clear" protector. It covers the whole screen and uses their PET material for the main part of the screen, which should prevent the denting effect. I'll give this one a try, if it's not that great, I may just use no protector and go with a flip case. Anyone else have any suggestions.
Here's a pic of what I mean with not covering the whole screen for the Spigen SGP screen protectors.

To be honest, I've searched far and wide through the threads and Spigen seems to be the protector of choice. But once I look at reviews of those protectors elsewhere (like the YouTube video I posted) I end up seeing that they're not that great. I'm beginning to think that we have to go with either the flip cover protector or go with a hard film protector that doesn't cover the whole screen in order to get that glass like experience. All the soft film based protectors just dent to easy or have some orange peel effect. It just ruins the beautiful display of the S3.

You are correct, the Ultra nano does not cover the entire screen. Really though, it makes it perfect for use with a case. The amount no covered is so minimal when using most cases that it's not concern, for me anyway.
I use the screen protector that came with my otterbox case and it has served me well so far. It doesn't cover the whole screen but then again, if it did it would come off when I used a case.

I use the genuine Samsung Super Slim case which I feel gives the scratch protection I need for the back and sides of the phone, while adding practically no bulk to the phone. So an edge to edge screen protector would have no issues for me. If only Spigen would use the same material they use for the Ultra Nano or Ultra Crystal in their Curved Crystal protector it would be perfect. It's really too bad the Curved Crystal dents/creases so easily as shows in the above video.
I like what zagg did for the iPhone. They make a case friendly screen protector. I like having that option. If you plan to use a case then it's a perfect choice. If going to use no case or a snap on case then a regular screen protector suits just fine. It would be nice for companies to show android some love in this respect of options.

you can pick up the SGP Flex HD. They cover the entire screen, and is hard to see that it is actually there. It feels smooth as well. Also it doesn't leave much finger prints on there
It seems you haven't looked hard enough, I have a thread on a skinplayer 3D mask film, 99.5% full coverage and has a self healing surface, flexible PET screen protector.
I use the zagg invisishield. Best one I've used yet. I also use it on my tablet. It's more expensive, but worth it. Of course I got mine from best buy the second day the phone was out. So there were only two to choose from ,and I didn't want to wait for one to be shipped to me.
It's designed to fill itself in for minor dents and scratches (I possibly butchered that explanation, but I think you understand). Also, it can be removed and reapplied.
The best part though, is that it's so clear it doesn't detract from the screen. In the past when I would use a screen protector it would always look like a filter was on my screen. Hated it. They've come a long ways in that aspect.

not 100% coverage, but excellent quality.
I hate when people ask about screen protectors because that means they obviously don't know about the best one out there. It is called clear-coat. Google it. Ive had it on all my phones. It is perfect. It doesn't come off unless you peel it off and leaves no residue behind. Most malls have a station that sells it and puts it on for you. If you watch videos of it you will see a guy scratching his iphone against rock and then peeling it off and no marks on the screen. Best way to go by far. It is also covered by a lifetime guarantee.

Vikuiti!
I'm currently using Vikuiti screen protectors, and they're working out pretty well. It attracts fingerprints a bit, but nothing a quick wipe doesn't get rid of~
I'm not really so sure why everyone is so worried about the very edges of the screen that the Ultra Nano doesn't cover. It's a great protector that you can barely even tell is there, and it covers all of the important and useful parts of the screen just fine. I've been using it for 2 months and it still looks great, plus I've had no issues at all with scratches on the edges that aren't covered. Using it with a Diztronic TPU case. Put a case on your phone and the combination seems perfect to me.
I've been using vikuiti ( a less mentioned brand for screen protectors I think) and it's been working perfectly fine with the genuine galaxy s3 clear TPU case. No scratches on the phone or screen protector, I never really understood how people had to cycle through so many screen protectors. Best of luck to you finding your preferred sp!
Has anyone bought this screen protector for the N5? I'm considering it since I want a fingerprint-resistant screen protector, but I don't know whether the cut outs will be faulty as their clear screen protector...
If not any other recommendations for a fingerprint-resistant screen protector for N5?

There's been high praise for the Spigen glass protectors so I ordered the GLAS.t SLIM. I think the cheaper of the two should provide enough protection as I generally take care of my phones pretty well. The lower profile of the GLAS.t seemed better for me although the rounded corners of the GLAS.tR would have been nice.
I've used cheaper anti-glare film screen protectors in the past, and they worked but didn't last long due to normal wear and tear, so I'm hoping this glass screen protector goes the distance. I hate applying new screen protectors =/
Edit: As for the recommendations, I would NOT advise Clarivue anti-glare. It works well initially but diminishes screen quality and the anti-glare coating wears out quickly in higher-use areas like where the keyboard is. Went through three in the past year.
If you're in Canada, they are now fulfilled by amazon.ca, that means free shipping! http://www.amazon.ca/SPIGEN-Protect...id=1383316041&sr=1-12&keywords=spigen+nexus+5
I'm really interested in getting the glass.t or glass.tr protectors. However, one thing that has always worried me about tempered glass protectors is the possible space between the screen and the protector.
Since glass protectors are not flexible, but the protector and actual screen must be perfectly flat or there will be bubbles due to points of non-contact between the two. Does anyone have experience applying one, and do they fit well together or are there problems?
EDIT: Also, would these protectors work with the Spigen cases or would the extra thickness cause a problem?
Anyone got theirs yet? I'm thinking of getting the GLAS.t Slim since I'd prefer the thinner one.
I'm wondering if the upper lip on the Spigen cases will actually cover the edges of the protector or if there will be a gap. Since I'm planning to use it in combination with a case, if the case covers the edges of the protector I can't see any advantage of the GLAS.tR Slim.
I've also read some other glass protectors have a grid of dots on them. I think this would really annoy me. Do the Spigen protectors have this?
Do they affect viewing angles at all?
Finally, is a cracked or shatter glass protector likely to scratch up the screen? They are of similar hardness...
Thanks.
I turst Spigen
I have not tried the tempered glass on Nexus 5, but I would trust Spigen products all time, they are getting very positive review on Amazon as well, so I would say go for it and I believe they have the money back guarantee, so why to worry

Haven't tried any others since SLA and ILoome(which have GREAT customer service!) on my N4, so I hope the Spigen can play well with the hybrid case!
The Spigen site recommends using a case along with their GLAS products, so I'm going to assume they fit cases (or at least Spigen cases) just fine.

I've heard this from some people as well. I personally will keep my phone without a case or a bumper at the most, so I can't speak from experience. If it's a wet application screen protector, it's probably much more likely that it will curl off since those tend to extend to the edges of the screen.
Here's what is on the Spigen site:
As this is a glass product, please note that the edges of the glass are the most vulnerable areas. We highly recommend that you use a case along with your GLAS.t SLIM to avoid chipping or cracking the edges of your GLAS.t SLIM

I believe the point of the tR is precisely to be used without a case (the tR product page doesn't have the paragraph about using it with a case to protect the edges). So if you're going to use a case, get the t, if not you should get the tR.
I used the glas TR with my work iphone, and they're fantastic. Very durable and they almost feel better than the naked screen. I have one on order for the N5, but not sure if ill put it on right away. You can't go wrong with one of these though, well worth the money if you are looking for long lasting screen protection.
From Spigen's website:
GLAS.T - Our first and original GLAS.t screen protector. Made of real tempered glass and premium silicone adhesive. It is about 0.4mm thick.
GLAS.tR - The "R" stands for rounded. This glass protector has beveled edges to to help prevent chipping on the edges of the glass. Recommended for users that are not using a case or a minimal case design. About 0.55mm thick.
GLAS.T Slim - We've made our popular GLAS.t even slimmer. Same concept and material as our GLAS.t, but it ranges from 0.23-0.26mm depending on the product.
GLAS.tR Slim - Also the rounded version of the GLAS.t Slim. The thickness is about 0.4mm

same here! I have three rather large "bubbles" (though thankfully none are on the screen), one of which is in the bottom left corner. When I apply pressure, it reduces to a tiny bubble, but after about a minute, it will have expanded again. I tried putting a textbook on top overnight, but this morning when i lifted the book, it just grew back in a minute.
If it doesn't fix itself in another 24 hour, I'm going to call Spigen.
I want to buy a tempered glass screen for N5 within a week or two. But I can't decide between :
1)Mime Ghost Glass or Feather Glass
2)Glass-M tempered glass
3)Nillkin tempered glass
4)SPIGEN GLAS
Currently, I am slightly inclined towards Mime(read good reviews). I heard that SPIGEN GLAS has some issues and the fix can take a while. I guess that is out of my option. My Requirements are : a) the touch should work fine b) no bubbles c)should work fine with a case.
Can you please suggest me which one to buy?
Thanks in advance,

I just received my Nillkin protector. I'm hoping to install it tonight so I will try to post some pictures for you. My first impressions are that the packaging is great and the camera protector (not glass) seems great. The kit for installation is pretty good too. Can't wait to install it.
If it turns out to be rubbish I'll plump for a MIME one. Everyone speaks very highly of them.

I had the (defective) Spigen GLAS.tr, and am still waiting for that replacement.
Applied the MIME Ghost last night and I can say that it's one of the best glass protectors I've ever used in terms of feel, rounded edges, adhesion (even after a couple of pull-offs and re-applications, to get rid of specks with scotch tape), and so forth.
Put it this way - I have a replacement Spigen on the way at some point, as well as a pair of the Nillkin units - but I just finished ordering another MIME Ghost in case something happens to this one.
Think about orzly glass screen protector, put mine about a week ago flawlessly, no bubbles, very good touch and feeling response, cut out are perfect

Yes I do. I have the spigen hybrid case. Overall I'm smitten with the look and feel of tempered glass. The case is a fingerprint magnet unfortunately. Best of luck with everyone who ordered tempered glass. Its well worth it IMO.
Does anyone have any photos of MIME, Nilkin, Glass-M? (I have Spigen GLAS.tr which has a lifted corner)
But I heard that Spigen GLAS nano's are coming out soon.
Is anyone as annoyed as me with Spigel's absolutely ridiculous line of product and naming choices? No clarity between feature, functionality, what's what, etc. Add in the Amazon factor and it's pure chaos. They might have the best cases, but they need some serious help in business management. If I ran their company, I'd have addressed this immediately.
Anecdotally, I'm nowhere near the first confused person. Someone much smarter than I (which, really, is most people) found their offerings wildly confusing and simply ordered one of everything before deciding to return all but the one which suited him best. I did the same given their complete inanity.

I got the defective Spigen glass and just received nillkin tempered glass and installed it about an hour ago.
It seems good overall and unlike Spigen glass, it has a cut out for the proximity sensor.
there are small bubbles with nillkin protector and I am hoping it would disappear by tomorrow.
I've always loved spigen's protectors, but this time it was a big NO NO.
I mentioned this on another thread but my Orzly after 5days of use was scratched quite a bit. I've no idea how as it only sat in my pocket.
I have a Nilikin on order but I'm currently using a £5 'helicopter blade coating' protector I got on eBay and it's great, no Orange peel and you really couldn't tell it's there. Still like the glass protectors though so I'll go with the Nilikin when it arrives.

There are so many choices for screen protectors on Amazon. I am looking to get one that is anti-glare, easy to apply, that doesn't bubble. I am ordering the Spigen Slim Armor case at the same time. If there is not a good matte finish protector, and they all reduce the display quality, please recommend me a good clear one. So what have you had luck with? Thanks in advance.
-Jeremy
I had a anti-glare screen protector from Clarivue on my N4 and I can tell you it's not worth it. After a month or so, the coating on the surface of the screen protector wears off in higher use areas (like where the on-screen keyboard is). It feels alright up to that point, but I think it's fairly impossible for an anti-glare screen protector to NOT reduce display quality.
For an alternative clear screen ptorector, I've heard the Steinheil screen protectors from Spigen are fairly good in terms of clarity and feel. Just be aware of film sp's that have the dreaded orange peel effect. And obviously most will be fingerprint magnets.
Other alternatives are tempered glass screen protectors, and you can find some for the same price as higher quality film sp's (although most are going to be a bit more expensive than your standard screen protector). As mentioned by many people in other threads about glass sp's, they do have a tendency to bubble, chip and/or crack, but since you're ordering a case with yours I think you should be in good shape. Glass sp's will usually have an oleophobic coating on them that will be more resistant to fingerprints while still maintaining clarity and feel. Check out my thread and the first post has a list of the common tempered glass screen protectors.
They all reduce the screen quality, that's just the nature of them.
I have the citigeeks matte and am pretty happy. The feel is much better than the other ones that I have tried for my other devices, less "grippy" and smoother.
I have it in the slim armor with no problems from the case.
I've got Tech Armor matte finish protectors on my N7 2012 and my N5. The loss in display quality is negligible to me; just doesn't affect me that much. They only bubble if you manage to get some dust stuck under them in the application process, and the feel is very, very smooth. I liken it to touching the screen of a Kindle e-reader's e-ink display.
6 dollars for a pack of three on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Tech-Armor-Sm...1394075161&sr=8-3&keywords=tech+armor+nexus+5
I actually bought the ones from Anker on Amazon and they are amazing. I love the feel of Matte protectors but hate the rainbow effect and those have the least rainbow effect. They are amazingly clear.

+1,000,000. i've tried a few different ones, Anker is the best texture and screen quality of them all.
I have come up with a pretty good way of applying a screen protector. Place it on the phone and tape it on one side as if you were making a book. Line it up perfect before setting the tape. Flip it open, make sure the screen is clean, couple wipes and blows. Then peel of the backing and flip on the protector. Do it fast and get the bubbles out. If you for some reason have lint, peel it back and use tape to get it out.

Maybe I didn't invent it. Haha. Such an obvious thing too.
+1 on the Anker. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the 2 Steinheils, 1 Zagg, 1 Skinomi, and the protector that I got from Spigen for a messed up Slim Armor TPU.
Nilki for the win.
Ended up going with the Nilkin, and so far am loving it. Great product, but horrible installation instructions translation for the English instructions. I just watch a few Youtube videos on the installation process before tackling it. Came out pretty good. Had a few of the spiderwebs at the top edge and bottom edge of the screen. Have some microfibers & medium binder clips on it now while I'm working trying to get those squared away. This protector pairs nicely with the Spigen SlimArmor case I got.

I am very happy with my BestSkinsEver matte skin on my N5. It works very nicely with my Spigen SlimArmor case. Installation was pretty easy. I ended up with one bubble at the very edge, near the bottom, but that was my fault. It's not bad enough to bother reinstalling.
So what's everyone planning on getting or using?
I'm not a fan of tempered glass, so I still tend to rock the film ones.
Have been using the Ringke Dual Easy Film on my S10e, and they're perfect, however they're not yet available for the Pixel 5 (They are coming though!)
Grabbed myself some of the Atfolix ones https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08KLV9P1W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, again, used these in the past on the Pixel 2 (I think it was) similar to the Ringke, just a different type of installation method.
Is it wet install film protector?
Had wet on my last phone and nothing beats it

No it's not the wet installs
I'm in the same boat. I've never had a tempered glass screen protector that I liked. I picked up this since it was the only non-glass one I could find. Hopefully it doesn't suck.

Let me know what they're like!
Ringke dual easy film are out on Amazon, however, it's the wings version, which wraps around the side of the phone. :/
I've just ordered a 'Brotect' screen protector having previously had a positive experience on Nokia 8, will report back.
Man i can't seem to find any good screen protectors on amazon, all those already there are either not available before November (though it already has comments...) Or doesn't fit... Didn't check on other websites though (Fr here).
I too ordered a brotect airglass screen protector, 3 pack for £8.19.
Previously I had purchased one off amazon that I returned as the punch hole cutout would not align - most of the ones on amazon have the same issue of alignment based on the odd reviews coming in. I hope brotect will be good as it's made in Germany.
Screen Protector
I just fitted my Supcase Unicorn Beetle case w/ built in screen protector - it is amazing, makes my P5 feel much better in my giant hands.
if I didnt get this i'd wait for the spigen Glas-T, they fit like a glove and work well on their own or with their cases (liquid air is on order as a backup)

Looks a little bulky
How is the screen protector?
Laughing at the speaker holes when it's under the screen
a naked Pixel is just too dainty for my hands, protector is nice and responsive.
I can recommend the Brotect air glass screen protector. Precise width (which has led to me having half a mm uncovered on the right as it's the same amount over on the left...) but very easy application and looks great. Fits fine with a Spigen case.

Does it come with a cutout for the camera as shown in the picture on amazon?

I ordered mine from here but it looks like the same one. Yes it has that style of cutout.
Avoid the AtFolix range. I've used them before and theyre usually fine, these are another level of poor!

Ordered a pack of the Media Devil Protectors - Hopefully these will be better!
I have applied the brotect screen protector. If you apply it properly (my second attempt) then you can cover the entire screen. First time using it but on appearance it does not seem like glass at all, looks more plastic so cannot comment on the durability. But it is very thin and looks great.
Only the top left camera portion is unprotected as there is no punch hole but rather a corner cut out in the protector
I have the LK tempered glass. It is not bad at all. A bit small for my liking. It covers all of the screen though. Has a cut out and sticks well. Tempered glass is going to
be interesting for this phone as I think they will all look very narrow and short. While the screen is flat the gloss border curves away and you have to choose where protection ends. My personal preference might be for film this time but will see. This is fine for now. I had a Zagg protector ordered from them but it got cancelled. Frustrating.
Puzzling why the Supcase has 2 extra holes on the top of the protector in the middle... very weird.
