Nope, they are on 1.53.x
Don't blame htc. Blame T-Mobile. Carriers are the reason for slower updates to non unlocked versions.

Is there a guide to convert it to an unlocked version?

I'd do it
I just got mine yesterday from T-Mobile and very new to the HTC world coming from the nexus line. Converting to the unlocked version seems like a no brainer but nervous as hell.

It is very difficult to brick an HTC device. As long as you follow the steps laid out you will be fine.

Why the fark should Samsung not release a 4.2 for us then?
Sent from my GT-N5110 using XDA Premium HD app
Probably because their dev team was working on that, and selling it to AT&T took priority over updating people who already paid. But hey, we're probably next in line .

I've taken the steps to remove it but it's still there and it's always scanning all my apps and notifying me that they're all safe like I care.

It looks like you have to be rooted to get rid of Lookout. You can't even disable it in Settings / Apps / Show System. I always use Root Explorer. I am still stock and T-Mobile offers the Premium Lookout for free but you SHOULD be able to dial back how often it is scanning besides when you install an app.
I'm on stock T-Mobile and I have disabled it.

Thanks. I would have thought that if it were something with my phone, the previous versions would not have worked either. But they all did, and no other recently updated apps have had any trouble. I'll keep digging. It's good to know that it's running ok for you guys.

Most people would go into developer options to see if OEM unlocking can be turned on.
https://www.technipages.com/google-pixel-how-to-enable-usb-debugging
There should also be a SKU on the back of the phone, and Verizon lists:
G-2PW2100-021-A or G-2PW2100-021-B
I think it's also listed on the Product/Variant line in fastboot, and this image is probably the Google version:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/1...-partition-changes-and-new-fastboot-commands/
Yeah can't flip the bootloader switch so I'm screwed lol

You could look at it this way--if you have to be stuck on stock the Pixel is likely the best phone to be stuck on stock with.
Agree, thanks guys
