I have been facing this issue on the HTC 10 since the day I got it. I try to download/update an app in the Playstore using either Wifi or mobile connection and it doesn't download at all, it is just stuck at "downloading" status and remains like that all the time, no matter how many times I try to cancel and repeat the process and change the connection method.
Anyone having such an issue? And if so how did you solve it.
Thanks.

I had something similar. No connectivity to any Google services requiring login to Google, but only over mobile data. Connecting via WiFi worked. After the 1.5 update (applied using Capt's homebrew RUU), the problem disappeared.

Obviously the connection and blackdroid's market works, did u have the same issue?
i dont have any issues here, have you tried connecting to wifi to double check connection?
I'm also having issues with the Market since yesterday. When I go to the Downloads tab, it gives a Network error. But works after few tires.
Maybe similar issue as me? I have 16MB free ATM and it just shows any app as continuous downloading without any progress or download since yesterday using WiFi. Removing 22MB apps like Google Earth resolves nothing. With t-mobile here.

I've 20MB internal and I cleaned cache and data, but the official market still doesn't work.. argh. All the rest is OK
My issue was fixed on a reboot, tested twice... on both periods it was RAM being near fully used halting market. Looks as if some app was leaking heavily. Everything installed fine now.

Happened to me to and a reboot solved it. I think times like that require a task manager. Only time i'd use one.
I've 40Mb free and rebooted several times but the bug is still here
Hard reset seems the only way
it started to work again and idont know why. maybe on button plus hold menu worked then
Hello.
Got an niggling issue here hopefully someone can help me with.
Everytime I try to download an app from google play I get 'download requires wifi' regardless of what size the app is. I've checked the seetings I can think of but nothing seems to be allowing me to dl over data connection, I have 'unlimited' data allowance.
I'm using AndroidMIUI rom if that helps someone recommend me settings to try?
This seems to have happened due to the market changing to google play, ideas?
Fixed it!
Had to go into my downloader app and change the setting there.

You can try this...go in settings...and turn data saver off....this will help...data saver on forbid even 200 kb size data to download in many cases....

THNX,,, worked for me....
I get this notification that says it's downloading. But when I go to app info. It's from downloads instead of the Play Store. I don't know what it is. When I disable the app. Everything stops working; Play store, Chrome, Facebook, etc. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem?

Did you try downloading a file with that name? Open up the download icon found in the app drawer and see whats downloading.

I didn't download anything. I noticed it on my way home. It initiated randomly. And it won't finish, or even stop. It isn't showing in the downloads either.
****edit
I found it in the downloads a couple hours after the problem started. I don't have a full solution, which sucks.

Might be it is sync ur gallery with fb photos. Uninstall app and reinstall.
I'm experiencing this exact problem, also initiated on its own. I uninstalled and reinstalled Facebook but that did not affect the perpetual downloading of this. Nor have several phone restarts, etc.

solution!!!
I don't know you already fix this problem or not.
I searched several site and finally got an answer for this problem.
Just connect WiFi and let it do whatever it want.
Before I found this, I tried several things;
1. restarted my phone
2. pulled out battery and put back
3. killed the process from task manager
4. removed FB account
5. removed FB app from my phone (actually, back to previous version) and update again
Non of these helped me ever!!!
Also, this problem is not device specific. (I realize it after googling it)
I mean various devices and locations had the same issue.
Anyway, good luck!!!

Thanks. Connecting it to wifi did allow it to finish the unending installation very quickly. That was annoying and I'd like to know why an update initiated on its own, seemingly from within the app and not through the Play store (I do not have any auto-updates allowed, especially for social media apps), and drained my battery while it looped an install process that was apparently constantly seeking a wifi signal to complete.
Thanks a lot!!

I started having this issue today on my Galaxy Tab 2. The only solution people found on different forums is ti turn on WiFi. It'll immediately start downloading and would get installed (Probably due to its size it does not want to be downloaded on 3G/4G). Although I don't feel very comfortable installing this, Does not feel very genuine to me.
Did any one else had this problem? or any issues after installing it?
I had to switch to Wifi about 3 or 4 times and then it finally downloaded. It tried to download all of last night and killed the battery. In the mean time my phone has switched to using Edge instead of 4g and no matter how many times I switch Airplane mode on/off or restart the phone I can't get my 4g back. Think it is just a local problem? I've got a S3 on T-mobile in Orange County, CA.
I am at my wits end here.
I changed operators about a month ago, from a weak operator to the best operator in my Country(with the strongest signal). Ever since then, I don't know if it's a coincedence, I am experiencing this incredibly annoying error. Ironically, with my previous operator who had a much worse signal this never happened before. The only difference here is that my previous operator used a regular micro SIM card and my new operator is using something called USIM. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
It doesn't happen every time, it's really sporadical, sometimes it works everytime, sometimes it doesn't. I open Gmail and I receive a "No connection" and a retry button. I go to Play Store and get the same thing, my Gtalk gets disconnected. I hit the retry button and sometimes it connects immediatelly and sometimes I have to tap it numerous times.
What's weird about it, I always have the strongest HSDPA signal, full bars and browsing the web works. It's just the Google apps that get disconnected. It is incredibly annoying.
Things I have tried to solve this:
1. Clear cache and data for all gapps
2. Clear dalvik
3. messed with my APN settings(they are 100% correct, checked with the operator)
4. Full wipe
5. Repair with PC Companion with no additional apps installed.
6. New SIM from my operator
Nothing has helped. This keeps happening. I have no idea what to do.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this? Any idea is appreciated. I am running ICS 6.1.A.2.55.
Thanks
I get the same problem sometimes. Usually while activating wifi, but it happens when i'm on 2G/3G as well. Totally random and i'm on a weaker operator.
On 2.55 as well (no mods at this moment), with ics17 kernel

Never got that on WiFi. :-/
Maybe Google is blocked its services for your operator. Try psiphon3 for android and "Tunnel whole device".

Could you please elaborate on this? How does this app work, what's the point? I just installed it and I'm not sure what I will accomplish with this.
Run the app and check the "Tunnel whole device". When it is successfully connected, a green dot will appear.
After that, test Google apps.
Report result please.

I don't see how this can help me as my problem is not losing internet connectivity overall, it's gapps not connecting. Web browsers work all the time.

so, anything from google (stock browser, youtube, gmail, play store) are having retry error ? but apps like whatsapp, viber, opera browser just run flawlessly ? if thats the problem.. like i mention above, download 3g reconnect. the apps seems to force google apps to use data connection instead staying idle.
i recommend that apps bcause im having the same problem, having retry error on youtube and play store, and gmail just wont sync but opera and whatsapp run like normal.
read the description on that apps before download.

I have been given a solution in the most unexpected of places....Sony support forums!
Try removing proxy/port from the APN and see if that helps.
It sure did help, never had the error again.
registered to say thank you
Delete host file from system/etc/
It may work
Ok so I've had this same problem on the M7, and now I'm having the same issue on my M8. I'll post the screenshot of the issue I'm having. It happens on every Rom that I use. I mainly use ViperOne. But in order to test out the problem I flashed other roms as well and found the same problem. I've even done the play store fix that I found in a couple other threads and it still gives me the same issue. And I'm hooked up to WiFi majority of the time and still get the error. No matter if I'm on network or WiFi, the problem persists. Even tried different play store apks. If someone could lend me some knowledge on how to get rid of the problem, I'd be eternally grateful. It's a pain trying to update apps and it won't work because of the error. Screenshot attached. Thanks to all!!

Try the following (try turning off wifi and then re-enabling it before you try any of these to see if that helps)
1) Allow unknown sources in settings
if that doesn't work
2) delete the cache for the play store app
if that doesn't work
3) Uninstall playstore updates and reboot
Finally if all else fails - delete your google account - reboot and then add your account.
