Fake IMEI 0049, something wrong with EFS - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
So my problem is this: I flashed a custom rom and didn't backup my EFS partition (duh).
Now my IMEI starts with 0049.
I have tried reflashing stock using both Odin and Kies, no help.
Most of the stuff found on the internet relies on having a Qualcomm chip...however Galaxy TAB 3 has Intel...so no help there.
Does anyone have any ideas or recomendations?

Maybe someone can share their EFS backup (where the phone specific data has been flushed out), or something.
Forgot to add, the device is GT-P5220

But i dont know if it can write my imei back.
Then i found this rj-45 cable but it need a especific box to restore imei.
I did the search, if i wasnt lost i wouldnt ask.
Thanks for the help anyway
I recently went through this similar pain (last weekend). I had defaulted to the default IMEI, then deliberately removed the EFS folder to see if it would regenerate and the value became null.
In short, the way around this problem, as I also had no EFS Backup was to use the Emergency Firmware installation feature in Kies, which utilises the Serial number of your phone to determine the stock ROM required. I essentially restored it to out of the box state, with IMEI intact. I uninstalled Kies (as it has issues with the Toolkit) and using the Toolkit and Odin re-rooted, and backed up the EFS folder. Took multiple copies of this on e-mail, elsewhere on PC and SD Card! Restored ROM with Mods etc that I required, restored EFS Folder using an app called "nitrality" and wiped cache before rebooting.
IMEI and ROM back to what I wanted. Phew!
There are multiple methods documented on these forums, and the more detailed steps to the approach above is on here somewhere. Utilise the search to help yourself some more but I hope this is useful!
Bully
My experience
Well, I had this same problem because of the wrong ROM i installed, I am from the netherlands and my modem/kernel is: XDME4, however, when I installed a rom with another kernel/modem/Baseband name I lost my IMEI and network signals, All I had to do is flash a different kernel, and I got my IMEI back
Hope it helpt!
UPDATE: In my case, I lost nothing, but its on your own risk! If you willing to lose everything because you want to fix the problem, you can also try to flash back to official rom, and then flash a custom rom (not the same as before), or make a backup first, using Titanium or ROM Manager kinda apps,
Regards!
Last June I experienced the same problem upgrading the firmware of a brand new phone, completely stock and not rooted.
Before the upgrade, made with KIES from PC, I had this:
AP: N7100XXDMB2
CP: N7100XXDLK7
CSC: N7100ITVDMA1
After the upgrade I had NULL IMEI and this:
AP: N7100XXDME6
CP: Unknown
CSC: N7100ITVDMF1.
Since I had no EFS backup, I tried to use the Emergency Firmware Installation feature in Kies, but it didn't help.
I couldn't yet figure out what this problem depends on. Can anyone explain it to me?
I solved making me replace the phone at the shop. The new one has DMC3, but I'm scared at the thought of updating it again.

No, you should restore an EFS backup made on N7100XXDMB2.
Try this, worked for me
check my other post. I fixed it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57991998&postcount=85

[Q] Imei correct, but corrupt efs folder, how to fix?

Friends I tell them what happened to me! I have a galaxy note N7100 2 and started to install a rom amending the efs folder (something you did not know) as a result I change the imei to 0049xxxxx and good after spending almost a week reading forums got a solusion, not if it was luck or me but I managed to put again flashing the rom imei assassin's. When installing did not give a efs backup and install it all, this rom gives you the option to put the kernel that you want and the modem, I am from Venezuela and trying to install the kernel branded the same rom but I chose the 3rd bottom-up modem. All fine, put me back my imei now had the problem of the signal, it sends me ariza and accommodation. Now a question, if I have signal when reviewing my efs folder is corrupt? I want to go back to have that repaired folder because I can not flash another rom and would stay stuck in this rom, having it bad I would present the same principle failures. If anyone knows how to fix that folder I would appreciate very gusto.Y if anyone has my problem and has the same model you have, this mas say I'll help you with pleasure.

[Q] Probably defective EFS - how to restore?

Hey,
My phone somehow got messed up (Unable to mount /efs) and what I had to do is create a new partition and link it. It solved most of my problems (EFS was usable again and I could install roms etc).
What happened though is I can't register to a mobile network. After doing my share research I came to a conclusion that probably my EFS is messed up and it could be the reason why.
Now, I don't have EFS backup from before this problem started, as I was using stock rom and not rooted.
Is it gonna do me any good if I take an EFS backup from someone ELSE and try to restore it on my phone??
If yes, anyone mind doing me the favor of sending me their EFS Backup?
If not, what else can I do?
I have tried the following:
1) Install various modems
2) Install various roms
3) Downgrade to 4.3, install modem and kernel and upgrading again
4) I even took my phone to a shop and they used some equipment to burn my imei
I am currently using:
DN3 rom v5.2
CWM Recovery
Thanks
Edit: Solved by doing efs repair with the equipment thingy

Samsung Tab 3 7.0 (Sprint Version) sm-T217s

I started to prepare for flashing this device. I went to my recovery and backup.
Soon after the device was flashed I realized the device's wifi and data was broken. I looked into the "about phone" in settings eventually and found that the IMEI, baseband, and the Software version are all unknown. As i rebooted back to recovery in order to go back due to possible ROM error, I got a notification that the EFS could not be mounted. So, in attempt to put things back to the way they were, i attempted to restore the backup i made for the ROM. The backup wouldn't even show up as an option for restore. Ugh... So i downloaded the stock and solved it that way. Using ADB I installed recovery, busybox, and SuperUser again. I currently have 3 files I downloaded that are suppose to restore the EFS. The problem is that I don't know what to do with these files. File names: nvrebuild1.bin, nvrebuild2.bin, and efs.img.ext4
Odin did not help to install these files. I looked in EFS and SD for a backup, but to no avail. Matter of fact, the EFS folder was completely empty.
Anyone please help me?
Hi there,
I will move your thread in the correct forum dedicated to Tab 3 Q&A for more relevant answers.

[help] imei unkown/00000 after restoring backup

Hello there,
I'll start from the very beginning...
My old Samsung Galaxy S9+ have a crack on its screen but my phone is insured so I got a new one, I backed up all of the files on the old one using TWRP backup (EFS, DATA, VENDOR, SYTEM, CARRIER, BASEBAND, RECOVERY, ODM). I tried restoring my old data to my new phone, it did the trick but there was a problem, the IMEI is UNKNOWN (00000), I tried scouring EVERY solution I could find to fix the problem but to no avail. Here's the list of every solution I could think of (although I'm sure I did a lot more than that) :
1. ODIN FLASH TO STOCK ROM (G965FXXSBETH2) I USED THE CARRIER ROM (Optus)
2. REPLACE THE DEVICE ID ON THE EFS BACKUP AND RESTORE (USING HEX EDITOR)
3. USE A COMBINATION FIRMWARE
4. REPLACE THE SIM CARD
5. IMEI MAKER/REPAIR
Okay now to explain why all of those didn't work :
1. I flashed it to stock ROM but it still didn't work for some reason, I figured it's probably because the ROM isn't really for refreshing IMEI
EDIT: I tried re-partitioning, pit and Nand erase but it didn't do anything.
2. I tried hex editing the efs backup for TWRP to restore but it still detects it as 00000
3. I can't use a combination firmware because the bootloader is updated (apparently I cannot downgrade) and every time I try flashing it, it just comes up with SW REV check fail (Bootloader) error
4. Well I tried, I though by replacing the SIM card I'll MAGICALLY get my IMEI back.
5. IMEI MAKER/REPAIR didn't do anything, I followed the specific instructions and got my IMEI number into it but when I flashed it via TWRP, my IMEI still remained the same.
Conclusion:
Yes, I learned my lesson and I should ALWAYS backup BEFORE I restore. I need HELP and I'm just in a desperate situation, I've been at this for 3 days now (maybe longer). My foolish self didn't untick EFS, Baseband, Carrier configuration or anything related to cellular phone internet before restoring. Somewhere around me buggering with the settings, my phone thinks it has 2 SIM slots (which it doesn't) but I'm sure that's not the problem. Please help me.
For reference with the IMEI MAKER/REPAIR here's the link to what I used
https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr...lashable-zip-imei-repair-android-one-t2992846
EDIT: Silly me, of course it won't work because it's for Android One devices ONLY.
Holy ****, never mind that. Thanks for fixing my phone @hainguyenthao you're a legend!
