When the other person speaks there is a noise in the background. When the person is quiet there is no sound at all, simply dead quiet. On my iPhone there is no sound turning on and off like this but instead a more quiet sound all the time which makes it much less annoying. Is this typical to android or just something with the HTC 10?

the speakerphone on my dash sucks big time sounds loud yes like a loud old radio ,static sound ,please give feedback on your experience with this issues thanks in advance???
Yeah, it gets a bit distorted at higher volume levels, but I'd much rather it be loud and noisy than too quiet to hear.
Just turn it down a bit, it gets better and you can still hear the other people.
thanks for your replys
appreciated guys know i know my dash is not defective!
To the actual (lucky) owners of the Desire :
-How's the main speaker volume?
Is it low as Nexus One or much louder?
I love smartphones but I can't understand why the mot basic things like ringtones volume could be low so I hope the Desire is a true upgrade in this domain compared to N1
Please I have to know to see if I wait 3 more weeks for Desire(Lebanon) or get now the N1
Never heard the volume on the N1 or indeed what you would consider loud - seems ok to me on the Desire.
Mine is more than loud enough....
Mine is pretty loud. However when I listen to music the high frequencies seem too loud. I didn't look for an equalizer yet, but it,s probably there somewere.
Mine is also loud enough, but I wouldn't call the sound quality superb. It's OK.

Seems like the reaction I had about the HD2 the first time. It is loud, but starting from about 50% max volume and up it starts to sound 'bad'? I was expecting some good things from that 'enchanted dolby around' stuff.. and in the TechRader review they said it sounds quite nice.
I have a really big issue with my HTC One V, since i used to listen to a lots of music on my old phone, i hoped the sound quality would be at least decent on One V, but i hear a lot of background noise in my earphones, not the stock ones ofc, since they are really crappy, i have t-Jays One, which quality is rather superior, but on this phone i hear a lot of cracing noise, like some magnetic/electronic distortion, wich is unbelievably annoying, and it's hearable even with music off, right after i plug in my earphones, is that a reason to give my phone back, or have it repaced? (European version)
If I turn the volume up 100% I can hear a (very) slight amount of noise, but other than that the quality is excellent with zero cracking.
i don't have that issue with stock earphone..
i dont hv, my one v play music really good
Thanks guys, i'll just get it replaced, i guess you can lock this thread...
I have a One V with me and it too has a lot of background noise through the headphone jack. With the headphones plugged in there is no noise but the moment some sound starts playing on the phone you can clearly hear it and it's constant regardless of the volume of the music or whatever you are listening to. While you should get your phone replaced, there is a chance that the new one might have the same issue.
I had a terrible noise problem as well, but over time it slowly decreases. Noise is not yet completely lost, but now is in a tolerant level.
Interesting, is not it?
I have it too. Sometimes noise is so annoying it makes me want to trow off the phone. Noise is present even at boot sound. Changing headphones helps nothing. I had SGS earlier and it had perfect sound with it's wolfson dac, so I'm very disappointed now.
Hi there, I just bought this phone and I'm having the same problem... Did anyone find a solution? Anyone got it replaced and solved the problem?
I think I'm replacing mine as well, this noise problem is really anoying...
Does your loud speaker crackles while speaking with someone and volume is more than a half up or at max?
Maybe my note II speaker is bad but I have seen other threads about this but not much statistics and answers! Crackling is pretty obvious when volume is high on mine...
Music sounds normal, but mostly voice is crackling, especially when in call. Annoying!
Had no problems until i had a SDS.
It has been repaired and after that the sound is crackling but not on the voices but on alarms etc. I adjusted the volumes but noting seems to be helping. Even when set on a minimum.
Hi is anyone else facing in call low volume? i can barely hear people on the other end of the call, i believe the sound is coming from the speaker on top of the phone rather than the earpiece.
Isn't that speaker supposed to be for loudspeaker?
Thanks
I've also noticed the earpiece speaker is pretty low. It's only a tiny slot at the top of the phone though.

No such issue for me, in quiet enviroment I cant even push it above 50% because it would be too loud.
