Which ROM/kernel combo are you using for Nexus 5x? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, I am not gonna ask silly questions like 'what's the best ROM for Nexus 5x'. Just willing to to root and start flashing custom ROMs after using the stock for a while. I know, each ROM is unique and it's hard to choose one. I just need your opinion over the experience with the custom ROM you've flashed. With that, I can start flashing with something that is great for daily use. I hope, you'll help me to select.
Thank you in advance.

PureNexus + ElementalX

I'll try that
What about script. Are you using any?

Stock ROM + ElementalX with Ghostpepper profile

xtrasmooth and ElementalX 1.4 Best possible!

its not ElementalX 1.4, its ElementalX 1.14

Right now, I'm testing Pure Battery profile.

Uberstock + Phasma

Chroma + ElementalX

Chroma + Franco

Liquid Smooth ROM v1.35 & Lean Kernel 3.3.0

Hi,
Can anyone give me feedback on the combo of liquid smooth rom 1.35 & lean kernel 3.3.0? I am looking for performance & battery life am not after heavy customization.
I am using stock 4.0.4 with Franco kernel 3.0.8 M2 and am getting about 3.5 screen on and 12 hours usage before I have to plug in.
Will the above combo give a better battery life?
Thanks

Personally, I use LeanKernel Stables exclusively.
They've always been the most fluent and the best on battery for me.
Haven't tried Liquid in probably two months...
But the users still vouch for it.
You'll have to try and find out.
However, the rom itself shouldn't have much impact on battery...
It's primarily kernel based.
So maybe you should try flashing LeanKernel on your current set-up and see if you like it.
The killer combination , Liqsmooth customization options + apex pro + lean kernel 3.3.0 exp 4 230 is just heavenly .
I will not compare between franco and lean but somehow i always manage to flash Lean after a rom upgrade ...
Used LS with lean kernel got 4+ screen time ..... good combination (telling from my personal experience)

+ don't forget to apply the GPS fix on Liquid Smooth if your flashing the lastest 1.35.

Best Battery Rom For Nexus?

I'm getting a nexus, And theres not a heap of choices of roms, but which one has the best battery?
Thanks
aokp + franco
I prefer AOKP with franco.Kernel, but in my opinion the kernel is more importan as the rom.
Best is trying out much combinations as possible.
there are lots of roms ...
if you want battery life then it's mostly about the kernel rather than the rom ...
GLaDOS kernel is the best imo most options and best battery life and it works great on any rom i prefer CM9
what about slim ics?
I have been using LiquidSmooth with Franco's kernel, and have been very happy.

What kernel do you use?

Just interested. I want a kernel that has good battery life, I have tried franco & cmtuna. I think cmtuna has better battery life than franco, but what do you use.
I use popcorn-kernel and it works very well. Glados and Trinity are great, too.

+1 with Glados kernel
But,to the op...this is a recurring question...Get as many answers as there are different kernel+all the different settings (CPU freq,GPU freq,undervolt,hotplug,etc...)+the rom used+your personnal settings (sync,brightness,widgets,wifi,etc...)+your use...
For me it's impossible to give an answer like that "what's the best kernel"...It depends on to many factors...
Testing other kernel for at least 4/5 days with your usage and see...Take time also to read the feedbacks of the different kernel topics and the changelogs, sometimes it's useful.
A kernel it's not like a full rom,not necessary to do a full wipe each time and loose your settings,etc...So you can flash a kernel easily each 4/5 days and see wich is the best for you,no?
Someone will say xxx kernel is the best for me and after another will say oh no poor battery life with the xxx kernel, same for all other kernel...What do you do?
There is not the kernel alone, which depends of battery life...and that's for sure.
This is a very subjective question, as the answers ...Nothing is known of your usage, your rom, etc. ...You have tested Francisco and ch33kybutt's kernel...and...Battery life is bad,not great,ch33kybutt's kernel better than xxx...And...???
what do you mean by "I want a kernel that has good battery life"...First check your settings for you like I said above, your usage and see...
And guys said good battery life with xxx kernel...just like that, just for a post or...
I have the best battery life with the awesomeincredibleamazinggreat kernel...,I'm happy with 2 hours deep sleep and 5 mins screen-on...awesome...It corresponds to my use and what I hoped!Great great!
Voilà...It depends on how you use your phone and how is for you a good battery life...
I'm using morfic's Trinity kernel. It's the fastest kernel I've tried and battery-life is great, even though the GPU-overclock.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I haven't noticed a significant difference between the kernels. Undervolting doesn't even do much, the processor drain is insignificant compared to the screen.

Is there anyway I can download the stock kernel that came with 4.0.4? This is incase I want to go back, (now running stock rom again)
I'm using the Franco kernel. With the stock kernel I was getting stuttering audio playback when disk I/O was going on. The Franco kernel has some I/O scheduling optimizations that fixed the issue for me.

I have only tried stock, glados, and Franco. Glados would heat up my phone at times, and franco does it less and better battery performance .

I use Franco's kernel. There were some issues with the last couple of nightly builds but they seem to be resolved (at least for me) in the lastest 166. Get his app from the Playstore for ease of configuration.
I use the CMplus, he works with no problems CM9.
Before CMplus, I preferred the Lean Kernel, but CMplus is at the moment my favorit.
opinion
i find franco has best blend of battery life and speed
Trinity.

[Q] Recommended kernel and rom

Hi everyone, I should be receiving my Galaxy Nexus thursday and i<m very exited but as always, new cell = a lot to read on!! and I was just wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on whats the newest most recommended rom and kernel and other stuff like that!
Thank you very much for anwsers!
you should try Rascream rom and trinity kernel. excellent battery life, smooth and close to stock with useful tweaks.

Try AOKP Build 37 with Franco's latest nightly kernel. AOKP offers boatloads of customization, and Franco's kernel seems to do everything right.
Is that rom for GSM never heard of that rom

Thanks a lot guys! do you know how much o/c can i get with both kernels?
I like stock 4.0.4 with franco's kernel.
And as for over clock, you can go up to 1344 with franco's if you wish.
He also has an over clocked GPU build, but that one can cause issues with your phone. Try and see!
paranoid android 0.9b nothing better out there no wasted space on statusbars + unique tablet look

I use slim rom with Franco's kernel. Smooth, fast and good battery. Been using since I got mine 3 months ago. No complaints.

[Q] what is the best kernel for cm 10.1

i'm using cm 10.1 and i need a kernel for that rom which giving me more performance
advice me please
According to my own experience I prefer to use neak kernel with trickster app to control the kernel. However, to get the most stable performance I usually recommend using the stock kernel that comes with the ROM.

I use for the newest PAC 4.3 with CM 10 the newest Devil Kernel. Runs up to 2000. If you looking for performance I would suggest this Kernel. With same tweaks it runs stable and I personally was impressed by the battery life. Also had running the Saber Kernel, runs up to 1800 very stable and tweak able. On the devil kernel some things are not able to tweak.
Best 4.2.2 kernel = thors kernel, no doubt. Awesome battery life and stability and very performant (21 to 22k in antutu possible if you OC)
