I'm trying to work through a problem with HTC Support, and the rep tells me that I should have the HTC File Manager preloaded from the factory on my 10. I do NOT have it.
Do you have it preloaded on your 10? Curious.
you can download it on the app store its not preloaded
The HTC File Manager? I looked and didn't see it.

If you're on with a rep that thinks the HTC file manager is preloaded on the 10, then I might try to find a different rep.

Found it on Play Store. Thanks.

Hi all, I am new here.
I had my new HTC Desire from T-Mobile delivered today. It's a good phone but I have a problem. They sent a phone with pre-release software installed. Every screen has a watermark stating "HTC Confidential" and numbers.
Any ideas of what I can do? I can't find the official rom anywhere to download. I phoned T-Mobile who couldn't do anything as they are out of stock. It was suggested I phoned back on Monday. Very helpful
I know from hotukdeals that there are at least 2 others with this problem and the lady at T-Mobile said there may have been a batch sent out incorrectly.
Here's the softwares versions if you are interested:
Firmware = 2.1
Baseband Version = 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_
Kernal Version = 2.6.29-9882e023 htc-kernal and18-2#1
Build Number = 1.01.110.4 CL131766 test-keys
Software Number = 1.01.110.4
Browser version = WebKit 3.1
Thanks for any help.
(had to remove at symbol after kernal as forum won't allow it)
Take it back ASAP.
Meanwhile, just play with it.
It's not your fault and T-Mobile have to replace it.
I believe you can't upgrade the phone even if you did have the ability to download a new firmware.
Have you had a look at the contents of the SD card to see what goodies you mich have been accidentally given?
If your recovery img accepts files signed with test keys, this could be really good news

No didn't think of that, will have a look and report back!
Maybe being stupid but I can't see where you go to browse the SD card?
Either plug your handset into a pc and browse it via your pc or take the sdcard out and put it into a card reader in your pc
If your on msn, PM me your details if you get stuck
Connected to PC but Vista couldn't find a driver
Or go to the android market and download any file browser?
There are lots available that are also free

Good thinking. Got Astro. Nothing of any note on there.
Have you checked your bootloader version and info? You never know you could have an S-OFF variant
I would laugh it he found some interesting information about either HTC or Tmobile on this phone
It would be great if your Desire was the key to rooting the device!

I hope so! OP, please make sure you report back here what you find - you may end up being a hero!
Check your bootloader. If it's S-OFF, party, for you will be the only one with a rooted Desire, and then use a RUU to update to a production version.
Does your keyboard have the speech to text button? If so, can you see if it works? I've just noticed that some of the older reviews on Youtube clearly show the button while it looks as though more recent roms have disabled it. From what I gather, this is because Google wants to keep this exclusive to the Nexus for the time being.
It would be cool if you have a rom which has this...
If your interested in installing a new HTC rom onto your device give me a quick PM

Wouldn't have a clue how to do that. Let me know how and I'll take a look.
Here is how to find out
1.Turn off your phone
2. Hold down the volume up/down button. and while holding this down press the power button.
3. release all buttons when the phone turns on.
If you write down all the text that you see at the top left of the screen and post it here we will be able to tell you

OP may have the Holy Grail of rooted phones in his hands...and he wouldn't even have known. I will be keeping my eye on this thread! Some interesting info may or may not come out of this.
I've pulled and attached the apk file for the Orange Quick Tap application. Unfortunately, I've only been able to get it to install on Galaxy S3s. If anyone is skilled enough to get it to install on a Galaxy Nexus (I think there are device checks in the apk?), please have a go.
Almost 30 of you have downloaded this, yet not a single comment? Come on!
Hi,
I installed it on my htc one x but it needs a quicktap sim, I'm going to order one and let you guys know what it says
Can't seem to get it installed on my S3. Moved it to system/app changed permissions but wouldn't install. Rebooted and same story.
That helps. I think that suggests that this apk doesn't actually have a device check. The reason why it's not installing on my Galaxy Nexus is probably due to a missing dependency, which I believe to be the Open Mobile API.
The Open Mobile API is used by many manufacturers to enable the use of special SIM cards as an NFC secure element for payments and other things. Google have not included this API in stock Android, as they want to limit Nexus devices to just the embedded secure element. Compare that to the Galaxy S3, which is confirmed to be able to use the MicroSD, SIM and its embedded secure element.
To test this, could people with any stock software NFC-enabled Samsung (non-Nexus), HTC or Sony device try to install the apk? I'd expect it to install on any ISIS-certified phone for example. And then to confirm that the API is the issue, could someone who has installed an AOSP stock ROM (which shouldn't support the open mobile API) onto their GS3, One X or Xperia S try to install the Quick Tap apk? If I'm right, it won't install on those ROMs.

What ROM are you running on your S3?
Right rang up orange and they are not giving put nfc sim cards unless you are a new or upgrading costumer
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Installs fine on stock unbranded SIII.
When ran, says checking for services
Then says "Sorry, you need a quick tap sim card in order to use the quick tap wallet" with customer service numbers to call 150 PAYM/450 PAYG
Alright, thanks. Now we need someone with a STOCK (no TouchWiz) AOSP CUSTOM ROM, e.g. CM9/CM10 on a SIII, One X or Xperia S to see what happens.
Rooted HTC One X with ARHD. Installs with no issue but falls over at the Sim card required stage. I'm going to give Orange a call and see what they say.

Unfortunately ARHD is based on the stock HTC ROM. Does anyone have one of the phones I've listed above, but running CM9 or CM10?
I tried to install it on my rooted GNex with stock 4.1.1 JB.
Put it into the download folder then went to install it it and it just says "app not installed"
Can someone tell me why it wont install, what the problem is?
I am on Orange UK.

I've already explained why it won't install. Stock Android doesn't have some components that this application requires for communication with the SIM. Furthermore, it's very possible that this application will never work with the Galaxy Nexus, as Google might have physically removed the connection between the SIM and the NFC controller - forcing Nexus users to be limited to only Google Wallet. Many people don't realise that Google are actually quite anti-competitive.
Guess I better get a Galaxy S3 LTE then.
I have a nfc sim card from starhub. Dk if it will work
Sent from Gnex with AndroidME CM10 ROM

It won't install because it's a system app. Push it to /system/app instead.

That's not the issue. I've already mentioned twice that stock Android does not contain the dependencies that this application requires; that's why it won't install.
I understand that this orange app installs a barclays app - can you post the apk for this?

I don't have an S3, so I can't install this in the first place. Your signature lists you as owning an S3, so why don't you install it?
Hi friends,
I am using htc One V virgin mobile.Rooted
Default Rom
there is no option of internet pass through anywhere on the phone.
Can someone please help me.
Thanks
That's because Virgin deleted that option. If you want it, try Suprimo. Just make sure to flash the CDMA converter.
or you can try reverse tether app aswell, search it on google play store

Thanks friend.
if thats the case I have a bigger problem then
I need it badly, Hwever, I have got the phone configured to Reliance Network India and if i update the ROM I may loose all the settings.
Any other way out.
tried the App , But no luck
I read somewhere that internet pass through is "HTC only feature"
and it some how linked to HTC Sense,
or may be it would be just a stock app. So if i install a app from a HTC that has this feature.
Will It work on my Phone
Sorry new to all this. :silly:
I got an HTC One X bootleg from China and the google play apk I installed does not work at all. I understand, I need to root it so I can install a modified version of google play. I've tried every way possible to root it using bin4ry, gingerbreak, doomlord and superoneclick to no avail.
All I wanted was to make google play work that's it. Is there anybody who can extend help? Thanks in advance...

Do you have your bootloader unlocked?
Do you have your Google account activated?
Are you 100% positive that your One X is genuine?
Which G Play are you trying to install? How re you trying to do that?
Please provide some additional info.

I don't know anything about bootloader. Sorry.
I do know I have a valid google account.
No, I was fully aware that my device is just a clone.
I downloaded the latest version of google play apk. I downloaded it to my sd card then installed it manually.
Hold volume down and power to get to bootloader. Take a pic of it, then select recovery, take a pic of that too.

When I searched through my installed apps on my M8, HTC Dot View was nowhere to be found. Instead, it is listed as Dotmatrix. I wanted to install the HTC Dot View app from the Play Store so that I can get updates as they come available. When I searched for the "HTC Dot View" app in the Play Store, I get "your device isn't compatible with this version". I have a Canadian Rogers HTC M8 that I've unlocked. It is NOT rooted. Can someone shed some light on this issue for me?

Have you tried this method?
Go to the google play store through your browser to this link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.dotmatrix
Then choose install, it should push the app to your device. The last update was May 7th.
