Hello.
A few months ago, I noticed the slider appear (dunno exactly what I did) and now, it has disappeared.
I have:
Root
Cloudy
G3 Tweaksbox
XCam LG
I installed and removed Camera++.
Could that cause this issue? Is there a way to recover the slider or force it?
Thanks.
I think I just answered my own question: I erased defaults from XCam LG, used the Volume Down shortcut, selected XCam LG as the default camera, and the slider shortcut appeared again.
Well... seems I wrote too soon. I am, once again, withouth the camera behaviour I want.
I have set the volume down shortcut several times beween stock, none and XCam LG to no avail: it is set with the default camera. I've erased stock camera and XCam defaults several times.
I won't lie, I have installed a lot of cameras latelyl, some VR, some open source (like the excellent Open Camera).
Is there a way to force XCam to be the default camera using the volume key/lock screen slider shortcut? I have it configured like so thru G3 Tweaksbox, but it isn't working. It did work a while ago, though.
Should I remove every single extra camera app I installed? Is there a way to disable official, default apps in the LG G3? I would like to disable the stock camera, if possible.
Thanks.

I've been using the physical camera button to launch camera when out about. The reason I asked this here as I found the Stock camera app is not that good for auto focus (I’ve tried Manual too) compare to other camera apps such as FX cam, cymera, etc.
I would like to know are there any way to assign the camera button to launch a different app + it will work on Lock Screen too? So far I found nothing yet as I guess a special ROM needed to do this function. I am rooted and would like to know if something Xposed can do without flashing ROM. (Reason – I like the Xperia Stock)
Thank you and let’s see if this is achievable to make life easier for people do not like the Xperia Stock Camera.
Bump
I would like to bump up this thread as I'm also looking for a way to assign a different camera app with the hardware button.
2nd that! Would be nice if that button is customizable as it's pointless if you use a different camera app.

From my Samsung days, I remember that there was a file containing all the key layout maps to the physical keys. After editting it, I was able to use the volume keys as HOME and BACK. I suppose that in Sony it should be the same principle for the camera key.
I don't remember the location by heart and I don't have my phone with at the moment but try looking into /data/system/user/key-layout something file. Open it under a text editor, change it, save and reboot.
I have another question. I feel like posting it here haha.
I have noticed that the stock camera app saves your settings when you open it from the icon but when you use the physical button it is always on superior auto. Is there a way to keep my manual settings when opening it with the button?
Sent from my D5503
I've installed the gallery from a different rom and disabled the Sony camera via titanium backup. Now if I press the physical camera button when the phone is on and unlocked the "new" camera starts. I did not change anything else. Sadly I cannot start the camera from lockscreen anymore, but that's fine for me.
I have disabled the standard camera app from settings and now pressing the physical button starts the other camera that i've downloaded from play store, simple as that
are there any soulutions for changing the defaul camera app using the physical button?
If you have rooted your phone you can install Xposed Framework + Xposed Additions and reassign the buttons like you want.

Well Im using the lastest mokee 4.4.4 and it only has d2w , i really like d2s too so is there any roms have this feature ? btw i came from color so is there any camera app can replace the stock ? Sr for my bad english
I recommend searching for the CM11s camera APK (I belive it is available in the Oneplus One apps and themes section). It can be pushed to priv-app with rw-r-r privileges. If it doesn't work (it doesn't on some ROMs) try the Lenovo Super Camera and just regular install it. Both of those apps use the Find 7 camera to its full potential. They are only missing the 50mp option. I believe that you can set a launcher like NOVA to d2s but it requires you to be on the home screen.
I use Nova and on a double tap setting have it launch an app called "screen off and lock". I rarely use the power button anymore.
Hi
Just got my G3 after updating from a Nexus 4.
Impressed so far and happily rooted the beast.
It's the lockscreen I am trying to get sorted. IS there any way of removing the swipe to camera option off the lockscreen? Had a bad experience previously and would just like the knock code. (Ideally would also like the emergency call option gone too)
Have searched but couldn't see anything.
Thanks guys

As far as lockscreen shortcuts - Go to Settings/General/Security/Lock Screen/Shortcuts - now tap the one you want to get rid of, then select Delete Shortcut
As far as the emergency call option - after some quick Googling some users are reporting and option to remove it with Gravitybox or G3 Tweakbox through XPosed, but others report it doesn't work

Thanks for the reply.
No shortcuts option come up for me in the lock screen tab. I am fully updated to the latest OS LRX21R and V20h
Never been a fan of Xposed for some reason. May try it and give it a go on the LG
Superb phone though. Pleased with it
Hi all,
I've had 3 or 4 OTA updates on my LGG3 since I got it last year, one of the ones around 20h made the swipe to camera icon disappear. The one in the bottom right...
How do I get it back?
Also, how do I change volume down to launch a third party camera (XCam LG)
This is possibly due to the change in Android Lollipop's lock screen settings. If you see stock ROMs or vanilla Nexus, there isn't any lock screen widgets anymore either.
However, I've inspected the ROM packaging (at least for Cloudy's ROM), this code is still there, it just doesn't show up for some reason.
I'll let some other pro answer this...
Solution? Wait for v30-base from G4's LG UX 4.0 software, if not you can download third-party lock screen apps (i.e. WidgetLocker or HiLocker)
Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm having the same issue.

I installed zui locker, played around with it's camera settings then uninstalled it. Funny the camera widget appeared and remained in the stock lockscreen.
Hey, I HATE the default G4 lockscreen. I have tried a couple of the 3rd party ones, (CM unlock etc) but non of them are doing it for me.
Anyone have any suggestions on lock screens for the G4?
I like C Locker from the Play Store on my G3. Requires root.
I too hate the stock LG lockscreen, the animations are SO tacky. Is there any lockscreen replacement that works with 1. Encryption and 2. Smart unlock (Bluetooth paired devices)?
Would love a proper AOSP replacement, or at least removing those horrible animations.
Ever since I debloated, I can only use the stock wallpapers on the lockscreen. Not sure how that happened, haven't bothered to fix it, but it's kinda annoying.
Try Hi Locker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.appplus.hilocker&hl=en
Every I change my lockscreen wallpaper it reverts to the default one after a while. Anyone know a fix for that?
I tried some third party lock screens, but none really do the job. C Locker is closest but even as a system app, it doesn't totally lock down the device. When you open the camera/phone apps from the lock screen, they aren't opened in secure mode, so e.g. the camera app will let you browse the photo gallery, the phone app will let you call non-emergency numbers and open the contacts list, etc. It's also possible to open the recent app list, even though it's supposed to be blocked.
Also, all of the lock apps require first swiping to open the PIN entry keypad. I wish it was just automatically displayed like on the stock lock screen.
Really, my only gripe with the stock locker is that the buttons are so ugly and it keeps reverting to the default wallpaper. (But I love that with C Locker, I can add DashClock widgets... can't believe Google removed such a nice feature! But I don't want to use it with these security issues...)
Also C Locker does have a nice trick to block the home screen by installing itself as the home screen (and then launching either the lock screen or your actual home screen app as appropriate), but it has an issue with ADW Launcher, that causes it to run whatever action you set to the home button, every time it's opened. (I guess it launches the real home screen before you actually let go of the button.)

I have the same issue. When I reboot the lockscreen wallpaper reverts back to the default LG one. Have you discovered a fix?

I was not able to resolve that issue. Sorry.
I'm having another annoying issue ever since I installed XPosed. Sometimes the 1 key on the PIN entry just gets stuck and won't register. Only fix is to open the camera app and close it again, or reboot.
It might have to do with GravityBox lockscreen mods, since some of them broke it completely (just blank screen, no way to unlock); fortunately I could still reboot, and the problems wouldn't happen the first time after booting, so I was able to revert those tweaks. But even with all of the tweaks disabled, the stuck 1 key still happens at random.
So I figured out the stuck key issue. An app called Text Aide uses XPosed to force all text to be selectable by double tapping. That applied even to the lockscreen PIN entry buttons, so double tapping them (when typing repeated digits quickly) triggered the selection behavior, and then the button wouldn't respond. Removed that app, problem solved. Unfortunately I couldn't seem to prevent it applying to the lockscreen using the app's blacklist function.

Removing the stock gallery app means you can't change the lockscreen wallpaper.
(I know its been a year but just incase anyone is reading)

With the stock Gallery app I can change the lockscreen wallpaper, but after reboot it goes back to the default image.

Did you disable the default LG Gallery app? I heard that this causes the issue you described.
