Ok so I am not a fan of the capacitive keys and I was wondering if anyone rooted try adding qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 in their build props
My past samsung phones used to crash whenever I entered this, I was just wondering if anyone have added softkeys yet.
Nobody likes soft keys? =k
i dont really want to buy it if softkeys can't be enabled , the back button is far away from my right thumb.
I believe LeeDrOiD Rom has the navbar.
Attached screen shot. I've not enabled them because I like the HW keys.

Should I use leedroid or i need to use other command beyond qemu?

Sorry if this has already been posted or in wrong section, and I take no credit for it but I found it to be pretty cool. To add soft keys to rooted stock touchwiz rom all you have to do is add this line to the build prop and reboot.

You can do whatever you want.... I just thought it was interesting that it wasn't completely disabled and was easily added...If you don't like it or have something else you use, that's great.

Agree with you. I am using the same method on my HD2 CM9 for 8 months now.
My SGS3 will arrive today and I am glad that this method will apply to rooted stock rom. Was wondering if this method CM rom only or also stock rom.
Thank you for your information.
IMO this method is way better than some softkey apps because it doesn't use ram and is native like.

I would love to disable my hard keys. I am new at this stuff, so forgive my ignorance.
I have a t-mobile unlocked 32gb white rooted with AOKP jellybean- 4th release
And I cannot find any other mods to the physical buttons, like making the home button a camera button. Not as important, but would love to know if you can tell me.
Thanks!

Is there a way to customize the "Recent" soft key to "Menu"? When I added the script while using the CM10 rom, I could change them around in the navigation settings. I recently switched back to the stock JB version, but added soft keys because my hardkeys stopped working after I dropped it in a spa
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Is there any way to make the Soft Keys smaller.. (at least 50% smaller than its original size/height)... its because my phone (the Galaxy S Advance) has a resolution of only 480x800.... I just feel like there is not enough space on my screen to be honest, that's why I'm asking this....

I know I'm not answering your question, but I'm just curious (assuming we're talking about the soft nav "buttons" that appear at the bottom of all the screenshots in the OP of the thread you linked to) why you *want* a soft navbar on a device that already has hard nav buttons below the screen?

Dirty unicorn, baked black bean and a few other jb roms have that feature. You have to enable it in the settings. I never use it because we have hard keys and they just take up valuable screen space.

No need to flash a specific rom, the change you need is in the build.prop (to enable on screen soft keys), and it can be done on any Android rom
Its something along the lines of "qemu.hw=1"...try looking it up ("build.prop on screen soft keys" )
I'll search right now, if I find it I'll edit my post with what you need to add your build.prop (make a backup of it and then reboot when you save it with the new line)
EDIT: Ok, the exact code you need to add is
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Reboot after applying and thats it. Oh and the build.prop is located in /system/build.prop, open with any text editor

Also, raising the "0" value changes the size of the onscreen keys
So like "qemu.hw.mainkeys=2" would be a lot bigger than if using "mainkeys=0"

Hello everyone,
I would like to know how is it possible to add a software key down of the screen of my phone? Not personalize, but add a soft key for turn the screen off like on the capture attached.
I know that the ROM used on this screen capture is Flash Liquid Smooth, but I want to keep my Sense UI!
Thanks in advance
Nobody knows?
I think it can be done with xposed modules, I recall a video on youtube that discussed it. Might want to search on youtube for it.
I'm at work now so I can't do the searching on youtube(Damn filters) . If I recall correctly, I think it might have been Armando Ferreira that discussed it, though I'm not 100% sure.
Yes, I've already seen this, it's that kind of module that I need, but this one (Xposed GEL) doesn't match at my needs because it's for the stock launcher and it replaces the back button while I would like to add a button!

That's a good module although there is a constant consumption of RAM.

A user has to edit the systemui.apk in order to enable System UI Tuner.
This takes decompiling the apk, editing and recompiling. The custom ROMs that have it enabled, dev's have simply edited the apk and any necessary frameworks.
This isn't something you can do yourself unless you're familiar with recompiling apk's and editing smali etc.

Sure do.
Install Xposed and GravityBox.
Fortunately Sense8 is really close to AOSP/stock so many (not all) of the features/mods work. I've cleaned up my quicksettings (instead of using System Tuner) and made a few changes to my statusbar with GravityBox.
