My tab s 8.4 has a yellowish tint on the screen. If I press the screen hard enough and slightly bend the whole tablet, I can get it to return to normal. This makes me thing there is a connection loose somewhere causing my issue.
Here is a video of it happening. The color isn't great but you can clearly see it changing as I press on the screen.
I was looking to get http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/322072642764?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true and just move the guts from my old to this one.
Before I go and spend the money on this plus the tools, is this the most likely culprit of my problems? It would only be slightly more expensive to just get a brand new one, but I am paying for a wedding right now so I need to save money where I can.
Not a loose connection! Hairline crack in the LCD board. Just replaced mine for the same thing. I was going to replace it but didn't want to spend $150-$160 on a single part. Bought a brand new one at Walmart for $230.

Dropped my GSIII face-down on concrete Saturday morning....phone didn't bounce. When I picked it up, majority of the screen is cracked, much more near the bottom...however there are no scuff marks along the sides and back....and the touchscreen and phone still work. After I get back from vacation, which will be 10/27, I will more than likely buy another one. So after I do that, how much should I expect to get for my current one if I put it up for sale?
ive seen a lot of cracked gs3 for around 250 but never more than 300.

idk that seems a little ..Keep in mind your looking at ~$300 to replace the screen alone. id be happy walkin away with $150 200 max
With the Note 2 coming out next week, might buy that instead, then sell this baby.

Ill give you $150 for it.
dont sell that thing for less than $225-250.
if you look hard enough you can find a replacement screen+digitizer+entire front assembly for $100-150, then you can just fix the phone yourself. Thats what I did when my screen broke, and I have pretty much zero technical expertise and confidence fixing things. It really is that easy replacing the screen yourself if you buy the whole front assembly including digitizer.
Here's a bunch for $150 ---this is all you need to fix your busted screen!

I'm going on vacation tomorrow...will decide what to do when I get back.
I broke my inner screen (display), not the outer glass, somehow.
Walked into sprint repair store.
Gave them phone
Came back an hour later with it working perfectly and they only charged my $37.
Might be worth a try.
They had a defective GS3 laying around to swap out the screen or change out the guts of the phone. I visited a Sprint store and they said they could do it for $35, but put me on a waiting list until they get a returned GS3.
hmm got lucky I guess.
But thats what I'd do instead of taking a massive loss and selling it for $150 or something
If its only the glass and nor display you can buy a replacement for $40 bucks and change it yourself

Hello fellow n7100 owners. All input welcome, but especially from other US residents who own n7100s.
So I did something stupid this weekend. I wore these loose shorts with loose pockets and dropped my phone when I sat in my car.
The screen is cracked now at the top right. It turns on just fine, works as usual, and the touch sensitivity also seems to be normal in the area of the crack. So it seems like the problem is just cosmetic at this point, , and in a darkly lit room, it's hard to even see the cracks when the screen is own.
But it's bothering me to look at it, I really liked the way this phone looked and kept my screen and everything in absolutely immaculate condition before this. What are my options?
I figure I can't send it to samsung, since I bought it off ebay, and obviously it's not a domestic galaxy note 2.
I'm thinking self repair is a no go, unless it's very easy and doesn't require a lot of tools because I am not handy at all with those types of things. I was thinking of taking it to a local repair shop that I found online, but I don't know how much it's gonna cost...and if I do take it there, if I should buy the parts I need beforehand so they don't overcharge me on those.
Any thoughts?
Anyone? Someone?
I wouldn't even think of trying it yourself. I wouldn't even try it myself. Your out of luck when it comes to warranty as you bought the device second hand. Your best bet is to find a store like you have and get an estimate
If I am correct, I know you could go to Samsung and let them repair it. Just say you'll pay for it.
I changed only the glass on my 2nd s3 it cost me £15 for the glass and £20 for the heatgun. Check out youtube for tuts

Call up mobiletechvideo.com. they're located in Texas. They swap out emmc chips in Samsung phones so I would assume they can do screens too unless they can't source them.

I got my note 2 as a gift, but when I received it, the screen near the front camera was cracked out the box. So, called Samsung service centre, they say they wouldnt repair it because it was out of their warranty, and if I wanna fix it, it will cost approximately $200 dollars (converted from Indonesian Rupiah).
Hey guys,
Recently I dropped my phone when putting it into my pocket (somehow...). I never have dropped it before... and I believe it dropped on the top left corner. I can see a small crack, and the touchscreen is completely non-reactive + LCD colour was green, then pink, now it doesn't even display anything. Everything else seems to work though (getting calls, messages, volume works, buttons work...) except the screen.
Seeing as I'm not too savvy in terms of phones... is it worth it to get it repaired? I have no warranty so it would have to be a repair shop... how much would be a reasonable price for such services? I'm leaning to buy a new phone depending if it's worth it... but the feeling if a simple singular drop from the waist is enough to end the life of a perfectly working $800 device (bought it outright...) makes me extremely upset.
Might be LCD :/

Hey, that stinks......something similar happened to me. I dropped my phone and chipped the corner, the screen did not work after that. I was out of warranty so I just decided to fix it at a local store for 150.00........better than buying full price for a phone.
Good luck
You paid 800$? I got mine off eBay for 300$ brand new. You can find repair services on eBay for decent prices, its the LCD that's going to cost you .

If you want to be adventurous, you can look at YouTube for guides for taking apart the screen. But this should be your last option.

Unfortunately I dropped my phone yesterday and I think I broke either the digitizer or lcd or both. Funny thing is the screen didn't break at all. No damage on the outside, but you can see what appears to be some lines (possibly black) under the screen. You used to be able to see the screen (had a lot of distorted colors and lines) and I'd be able to plug in a mouse (unresponsive touch screen) and still use my phone, but just recently my screen won't even turn back on. Did I end up breaking my digitizer and/or lcd? I can confirm that the phone still powers on since I am able to use it via voice commands. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions? I was going to attempt to repair it, but if it costs me $100+ I may as well just buy a new phone, thinking nexus 5. Anyway, is there anything else I can try?
Thanks
If you broke the LCD and want to replace your self you can buy a kit from Amazon or eBay. They usually have some kits for around $10-$20 if you don't want to pay $100+ for someone then going for a new phone would be a better choice

Really? I've seen kits going for $100 at the very least. Maybe it was the lcd plus digitizer? How do I find out if my lcd and digitizer are broke or if it's just one of them?

If the phone wasn't responding to touches when you were able to see the screen after the drop your digitizer is fubar.

Ok thanks. Guess it's time to get a new phone.
I posted this question in other S3 forum for few days without a response so I thought I might have posted in a wrong place. Anyhow, here is it
My sister dropped her Tmobile S3 and now the screen is not showing anything. The phone is operable via Bluetooth setup in her car and it would flashes the lights when being turn on and off or messages received but nothing come on screen. There's no visible crack that can be seen, except that on the attached photo. My question is what might be wrong with it? if it was hardware issue, will I need a glass only or the whole screen assembly? Thanks for your helps.
Your sister is better off getting another S3. If the display doesn't turn on at all, then the issue is the digitizer and replacing it isn't cheap, at least it isn't worth it to most people because what they go for online. Plus with the S5 (or whatever they call it) coming out in the near future, the S3 is only going to go down in value and repairing it isn't really going to be worth it when you can buy one that fully works for less money.

Thanks for your input, that was what I fear most.
Really? I wouldn't just go buy new s3 to replace a probably fixable problem. I wouldn't get a new replacement phone unless warranty covered the replacement. I bought my s3 used, already out of warranty I assume, for dirt cheap. It had ghosting on the led panel and it bugged me, so it was worth it (to me) to get a new display assembly for the $100 or whatever, and changing it out was a breeze. And now I have a backup to use to test with or give away if someone doesn't mind the slight ghosting (or they're in desperate need of a display and can't just go buy one!)
However, my question to you would be, have you checked the connection? Maybe the drop just knocked the cable loose. Mine came off way too easy when I switched my display out, so perhaps hers just wasn't set in good and needs to be reconnected. If everything else works properly and there's no obvious physical damage to the display, it may just be disconnected.

I didn't say buy a new one, I said the the OPs sister is probably better off getting another one, especially if the OP or the OPs sister isn't comfortable with or confident in paying close to $150 for a new screen/digitizer and taking the phone apart and putting it back together.

Ok, yes I agree with that... But I still think they should check to see if the connection just needs to be re-seated. If that's the problem, it would def save a lot of time, money, and hassle. Otherwise- insurance
