Picked up a new 4K monitor a couple weeks ago and today when I got the 4K Fire TV, I found out this monitor (along with most current 4k PC monitors) doesn't support HDCP 2.2. This means the FireTV will not output in 4K, which is the main purpose I chose this streaming box.
Is there a way I can bypass that HDCP requirement? I figured this might be doable via a hack or CFW, so I thought I'd ask here.
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
my FTV 2 is connected to a new Denon avr-x1200w 4k av receiver.
I tried today some DTS and DD samples in Kodi 16 Beta3. I'm gettig just a weird noise out of my speakers. I thought the DTS issues got fixed with 5.0.3.1 Update?!
My okyo SR607 worked without any problems few days ago with same setup.
Any advice?
Done some more testing today:
FTV 2 connected directly to my old LG LK950S TV, same noise with passtrough on in kodi with DTS and DD Files.
FTV 2 connected with TX-SR607, passtrough works fine in Kodi.
I don't get which device is the problem since my TV isn't HDCP 2.2 compatible and still don't play DTS/DD. I thought the problem is related to new 4k receivers with hdcp 2.2 like my new Denon?!? But why is my old LG also not able to decode DD via Kodi??
So who messed it up? Amazon or Denon? Sadly i sold my FTV 1, with it I could check if the new Denon is working with passtrough.
just tried on my yam rx-v1073...works fine.
AFTV2 5.0.3 + Kodi 15.2 + DTS and passthrough enabled in the settings. DTS comes on the Yam display is happily passing through over HDMI 1.4
I have been wanting to record some tutorials in fire os on a fire stick or fire tv, I have bought several pvr's but getting hdcp protection, even tried hooking the fire tv into a xbox one first, then to the pvr, but no results. Is there a way or device that may help with this hdcp issue? I have been using kodi on desktop to make a couple videos but really want to record directly from the fire tv, and not have to make it bootleg with a camcorder.
thanks

I read an article somewhere that you could use a cheap hdmi switch to bypass hdcp so you can watch protected content on devices that are not hdcp compliant.
I just picked up a 4k tv last week and am trying to fine tune it. It is a smart tv so it has netflix built in. I also have a xbox one with netflix. Both of those will run in 4k. However , when i run netflix on the firetv2 it is still in 1920*1080p format. It appears to be in 4k with some minor hiccups (maybe upscaling) but the resolution shows 1920*1080p. I am able to watch Amazon series in 4k as well. Is this a known issue for Netflix and 4k streaming on the firetv2? Or am i missing something?
I think there is a setting that puts fire tv in 4k mode. Is the 4K section showing up in the netflix app?
i think you need a 4k netflix account - premium account (in germany)
sorry i see you have it on xbox
Has anybody encountered issues streaming Netflix in 4k in their Fire Tv box 2? I can get Amazon series / shoes. And youtube to stream in 4k. As well as streaming netflix in 4k to my tv from my Xbox and the smart app on the tv. For some reason though it won't stream in 4k fro, the Fire tv box 2. I am running the latest rooted firmware and have ran the last 2 or 3 rooted roms in order of release as well. It appears very close to 4k when streaming but there are noticeable tracers and issues with fast movement that don't occur on the Netflix app in 4k via the other devices. With all said above, that rules out the tv, hdmi cable, port on the tv and even the Netflix app because I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Just curious as to what I'm missing.
Not a lot of us using 4k yet. I keep putting off buying one because I have more then enough Tv's at the moment. And can't justify the expense to myself yet...But as soon as the 70inch craps out I'm all over it
Hi guys,
I have a weird problem I cannot solve and it drives me crazy.
My girlfriend and I have an older Philips TV (t315xw02vf). As we enjoy watching Amazon Prime and Netflix, we bought the new FireTV 3rd gen. Not that we needed the newest version, it just wasn't possible to buy an older one via Amazon Germany.
Now the problem: the TV won't recognize the FireTV. It keeps showing "No signal". All HDMI inputs of the TV work, I tried with my laptop and an HDMI cable. The FireTV itself works, too, I tried at my parents house (they have a newer TV). Of course, the FireTV is active, it even gets slightly warm. I also tried to set the resolution to the lowest possible (via my parents TV), but even then the problem stays.
I consulted Google, and it seems there are known problems with HDCP 2.2, but I thought that was only a problem with 4k streaming. Or does the FireTV 3rd Gen use HDMI 2.0 and my TV has only 1.0? Does anybody know a solution? As we are students, the FireTV was quite expensive for us, and buying a new TV is no solution either...
I'd be really grateful for help. Thanks in advance.
