On screen navigation? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I had read in reviews you could switch to on screen navigation bar instead of capacitive, but I can't find the option.

How does multiscreen work

It seems like it is just a app switcher or am in using it wrong and you can have two apps on the screen at once

You can have 2 apps on the screen at once. It's activated by holding down the back button until a bar on the left appears. Then you drag the icon on the left bar on the screen and another icon. So you'll be able to interact with 2 apps at the same time.

N or a sideward's Z icon

Sorry if I am being stupid but I have an icon on the top righthand corner of the phone that looks like a double N or a double Z turned 90 degrees.
What is this?

Yep. It's the icon that shows that NFC is on.

Great thank you
How do I turn on GPS? and use the barometer?
Also I read that this phone can act like a remote, anywhere to get an app to change channels at the local pub
settings / location for gps
the htc tv app has the remote control features. you should be able to tune the channels on most tv's with it
I prefer SmartRemote on my M7. I use it to put the Stars game on at bars and stuff.

[Q] Do you think HTC logo could be a capacitive button?

Ok so with the M7 an amazing developer @tbalden was able to make the HTC logo a capacitive button. Anyone looked at the specs to see if it's possible with the m8? That bloody big black bezel has gotta be good for something!

They had to keep the black bar to allow room to fit the digitizers for the speakers.

Yes that's right but is there anything left over to use as a capacitive button like with the m7?

No. There's nothing left to make them work.

The logo was never capacitive on the m7. Logo menu was possible because a little bit of your finger made contact with the digitizer directly above the menu at the very edge of the bottom of the screen. I'm sure the genius devs we have will be just as creative with the m8.

Well in my opinion it's going to be much easier than on M7 because on my M8 i can :
- Scroll a landscape webpage just by moving my finger on the top 25-50% of the black bar.
- Wake up the phone by swiping grossly my thumb over the htc logo...
So yeah, this time it should be easy to encode buttons on the black bar and remove soft keys.

Wake Gestures Work Sometimes

Anyone experiencing poor performance from the double-tap to wake and other wake gestures? Thanks.
I haven't been able to get voice dial to work from say one. Sliding down while the phone is sleep just turns on the screen. Sometimes voice dilaer will show up but that's every 6 or 7 tries. Sometimes the mic will flash and then disappear.
Anyone else??
The key to the others is movement. Without enough movement of the phone prior to double tap it will not wake. Don't know if that's your issue.

All of these are supposed to work when you pick it up into your hand.

Correct. I've also noticed if you move the phone while it's laying down, the gestures still work.
I was trying to post about this in a dev form for a rom I was using I had experienced it to be mostly successful. Except when I use a AOSP lock screen in my rom which I am using. (Both Viper and Insert Coin....not sure about GPE). But with AOSP Lockscreen gestures are seemingly not working at all. Am I doing something wrong or has this not been solved yet?
Works all the time for me

Screen vibrates when swiping up from dock! Why?

So I'm using the stock launcher ATM. Have only had the phone since Thursday and past couple days I have. Priced if I swipe up from the dock on a home screen it vibrates. Why is this? Seems like there is something it should trigger like a gesture? Thanks.

It seems to happen when you tap the app drawer at very top.

Just attempted this out of curiosity, I get 1 vibration from selecting the app drawer and a second vibration after swiping up and removing my finger from the screen.
If I leave my finger on the screen and wait for the second vibration, I get the personalize menu pop up.

Tried that no personalized menu for the home screens for me. Just thought it was odd. Then realised nothing happened after doing it lol. Cheers.
