I have been trying to find an answer to this question but so far I haven't had any luck.
background:
The Samsung Galaxy 5 had dual radios in it to handle both 4G and 3G, but when they made the Galaxy S6 they only put one radio in it and had it switch back and fourth. (perhaps not the best explanation but that's basically what it does). I should also mention that I am using Verizon and am thinking of switching to TMO.
Anyways, because of that "new" feature, I started getting horrible reception because my S6 couldn't handle the switching. I tried new phones and playing with settings but nothing worked. Meanwhile my girlfriends Galaxy S5 worked with no problem at my house while I struggled to get a signal.
I ended up using an app that linked to my wifi and gave me a good signal but I'm still not satisfied.
So my question is, does the HTC 10 have dual radios or a single radio like the Galaxy S6? I imagine anything going to Verizon will have the single radio that works with their VoLTE but I am curious.

Is anyone else experiencing "issues" with the CDMA radio "overtaking" the LTE radio? It's as if the CDMA radio rules over the LTE radio and decides whether or not to use 4G or 3G.
I've had to toggle LTE multiple times after it went to 3G in order to get LTE back.
noticed this as well running 4.0.2 radios, at least you get it back after toggling mine drops it altogether... but I just got my nexus today so maybe I overlooked something

I experience the same, 4G works great, until it drops to 3G. Then it seems to take forever to bump up to 4G again, but usually I have to toggle it off and then back on. A friend of mine can't get 4G to work at all, Verizon has told him it's a radio issue (odd though because they tried his sim in 3 different Galaxy Nexus devices). I'm going to try and upgrade him to the leaked 4.0.4 build this week to see if the new radios will help him, it's too nice of a phone to be stuck on 3G all the time.
Hi all,
I'm sure you've seen a lot of these threads already, but before you burn me to a crisp, I've searched all the forums on here and even googled but haven't seen anyone else on t-mobile with my issue.
I've had my galaxy nexus for a day or so now, and been trying to get it to work on t-mobile. i bought it from lukelebron here on xda and it came loaded with AOKP build 28. I upgraded it to build 33 and flashed radio UGLC1 (i think that's what it is)
now the problem is my phone is in a constant roaming state. the signal bars shows an R no matter where i am. I know for a fact I get pretty good coverage at my house because i had an HD2 and when i was running ICS on it I would have at least 3 bars with the H for HSPA. Now anywhere I go, it's the R. I left my phone overnight and then the data just stopped responding until i rebooted.
also now, i can't send any sms. it fails with a "message not sent" with the exclaimation mark. i tried putting in tmobile's smsc number (encoded) in the *#*#4636#*#* menu and it will not stick. i press refresh and it appears again, but if i exit the menu it's gone.
Sorry this is so long...but can anyone help a brother out?
I'm on Tmobile in Dallas. Have had 2 GNEX phone now, neither of them had any issues with reception. I am also using the UGLC1 radio. Have you tried the stock ROM? I have also heard of some people replacing their SIM cards with a new one from Tmobile. Maybe try that.
I think the best thing to do is just restore it to a factory image first, then go about putting AOKP on it. You can use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit found under the galaxy nexus android development section to help you.
Download factory images for the galaxy Nexus from here:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Thanks for the replies guys.
I flashed the rom from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1616638
it's supposedly a purely stock nandroid. I restored it (however it kept the UGLC1 radio i flashed earlier) and i'm still getting the roaming one.
I think i'll try to fastboot 4.0.2 yakju since i heard that might be better. Contemplating switching out my SIM card (which is over 8 years old so far...still a voicestream SIM) but i've read on here that the SIM won't change anything. Thoughts?
I think you should try switching out the sim. I had data problems with my voicestream sim when I got the sensation 4g. I switched to a new sim and it fixed my problems.
After a great 10 years with Tmobile and most recently on my Mike AHRD supported HTC Sensation with blazing speed. I bit the bullet after seeing my neighbors blazing 32down ave speed on Verizon 4g LTE here in Seattle WA USA area.
I was at end of my TMOUS contract and did the switch to Verizon and with not wanting to shell out the big bucks for the latest and greatest SG3. I knew MIKE AHRD was very high on the Galaxy Nexus for CDMA LTE and was a chef here too. I got 2 free new Galaxy Nexus phones from Best Buy. One for me and one for the wife.
Upon turning them both on my wifes did an immediate software update to firmware ending in K, Mine did not update as it already had latest update ending in Q.
The odd thing is my wifes sits on 4g and has very good speed test. WE are in strong 4glte area. However my phone sits on 3g and the very few times I get it to say 4g I get wicked slow speed tests. MY best was 5 down 1 up. But usually about 1.4 down.
How the heck can two of the same model phones get different speeds. My phone flat out sucks! Hers rocks. ... I just rooted mine and unlocked bootloader and was wondering if any one knows of a way to fix data speeds? Uggg.....
have you tried swapping sim cards to see if it the problem follows the sim?
IMM76K vs. Q. Maybe the search nerf update borked the RIL. Maybe that's why the rest of us haven't received it.

Now I have not switched Sim cards... Will try that and report back.
When I called Verizon the leval 2 tech said firmware ending in Q is the newest now and has been working great. Or so he said... Well not for me! I have plenty of time to exchange at Best Buy. I did find plenty of threads claiming big issues with our Galaxys having 3g 4g hand off issues. Does any of the custom roms like AHRD fix this issue?
Thank!:good:

Mine drops to 3g w/ g/f's on 4g, same rom builds, same kernels at times. Just two days ago I was w/ the folks and my dad's Razr Maxx was on 3g while my mother's Maxx was on 4g. Weird how that works out. But just goes back to why some phones OC better than others, other's UV better than some, some have all the issues, some don't. All phones are different.

VZW are a bunch of c*cks...so it doesn't surprise me...
Ok, so to start off I currently own a Verizon Note 2 SCH-I605. I currently do not actually have a Verizon contract and have had straight talk a couple times in the past, got everything to work just fine. I recently got Walmarts 30 dollar T-Mobile sim starter kit for $30.00~ and have gotten just about everything working, except I am unable to figure out how I can improve my speed from the h+ I'm seeing.
I have been searching everywhere online and can't seem to find a clear idea if there is even a remote possibility of getting 4g lte from t-mobile on this verizon note 2. I've never rooted a phone before but I can assume that if it is even possible, then I am going to be heading down that route. Is it even possible to get t-mobiles 4g lte with this phone in any capacity or am I just out of luck?
Guess I'll just stick with this h+
Hey guys! I'm trying to get my Verizon S4 working for my wife on T-Mobile! She got the LG G3 last night and because she's so tiny, it's like a tablet to her!
Anyways, the Verizon S4 is rooted and is still on original MDK firmware. With that said, I'm not too sure exactly which steps in your guide apply to our situation...not having safe strap and all.
With changing the APN settings to match up to my phone (LG G3 on T-Mobile), and inserting a T-Mobile 4G sim card, I'm able to get calls and SMS working over WiFi on the S4...that's it though. No mobile data seems to be coming through. Her mobile signal icon in the status bar keeps switching back n forth from E to H for some reason...but no LTE or 4G icon.
Anyways, is this something anyone thinks they could help with? Or do ya think we're screwed? My sweet wife would be eternally grateful if someone could help to make this happen!!
EDIT: haha, my signature will be changed if I'm able to get this working for her!
Aren't you missing something here? Verizon is CDMA, TMo is GSM. I don't see how you can get cell coverage to work unless the phone has dual antennas.

Many newer CDMA devices with LTE support have gsm radios as well, that includes sprint and Verizon..
To OP, you may have better luck searching the Verizon forums if nobody replies here
