I want to ask help from developers because I can't receive files in my note 4 but can send files via Shareit app. Help me please I don't know what to do. Just a student here please. It always says at the start Initializing then restarting hotspot. After I click that button, it won't function or like somewhat not really restart the hotspot. Sometimes it also say "This device may be slow to start hotspot. Please wait for a moment.". Need it quick for some educational purposes and also for convenience for daily use. Please help me and expecting to have quick replies from the developers. Thank you in advance.

Could be an app problem. Contact the developer.

I don't think it's an app problem because I can send files. Can you give me a solution? Please! What to do? My note 4 is AT&T SM -910A. Thank you for those who will answer.

With 3rd party, non-Samsung apps, 99% of the time, it's an app problem. Contact the developer and they'll probably ask you to record an error log of you repeating the problem. From there, they can tell whether it's an app issue or a phone issue.

For any app that's on the Play Store, if you go to the app's page and scroll all the way down, you'll see some a DEVELOPER section with contact info. Just use the Send Email link and explain to the developer your issue and your phone (including that it's the ATT variant). I wouldn't say that you're not sure if it's your phone or app though. To a good developer, an app is their baby, so to some, any issue couldn't possibly be caused by a problem with their baby. So just don't say anything about you not being sure if it's the app or phone. Let the developer come to that conclusion after some testing, or better yet, let them fix the app so that it'll work for all phones, including yours.

Read thread and do the same as the topic creator. If it is indeed the app not being compatible with the Note 4, then 2 people (or more) reporting the problem will encourage the developer to look into it.

I thought I was the one who is facing this issue in N910-A, but I could see many are having this issue. Tried both ShareIt and SuperBeam - both not working though Wifi is working fine. I tried all the possible options (including phone restart)
Its not app problem.
It's AT and T-mobile official roms problem
So plsif can help. It will be appreciated.
It works normally with any other custom rom
Same problem SHAREIT

I'm having this problem on T-mobile Note 4 and I think I know the reason. T-mobile ROMS place several restrictions on making a wi-fi hotspot on your phone. You cannot start a wifi hotspot if your phone doesn't have a sim card. You cannot start a wifi hotspot if you've turned off your data connection. Share-it creates a wifi hotspot when you press the "receive" button and other phones search for this hotspot to connect and then send files. Since Tmobile has put its own crap in the wifi hotspot ability, that probably explains why receiving files is not possible but sending files it (in order to send files, you only need wifi, not wifi hotspot.)
There is one temporary solution. Say you have a T mobile phone (T) and a normal phone (N). Start share-it on phone N and press receive. Use phone T to send a file, picture or anything. All you want is that phone T connects to phone N. Once that is done, use phone N to send files back to phone T via share-it and it should work as long as you didn't close the connection.
I think this problem of not receiving using shareit app is with everyone having a Note 4 Samsung SM N910A, am one of the victims I can't receive but I can send. I would like to find outcfron the previous members of the issue was addressed. Thank you
You can receive the file by turning on the hotspot manually from settings at once it shows hotspot restarting then your device indicates your device name and you can receive the file
I think it is AT&T restriction. I couldn't use ShareIT on AT&T's Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. They maybe want to restrict other apps from creating hotspot so whoever are in unlimited plan cannot use it as their primary internet connection. The old school iOS way of manually connecting to hotspot doesn't work as well.

Hi....not sure if this is still active....i literally just signed up so I can reply to the post.
Seeing that you have at&t and my phone is also from at&t
That's the problem.... Shareit works by creating a hotspot
From my knowledge researching in the past
At&t locked their phones from being able to create hotspots I don't know why....it's really stupid
But shareit dont work for you and me because it cant turn on our phone's hotspot
I'm really disappointed with that and still trying to find a way to unlock the hotspot problem
My phone is supposedly unlocked because I dont used At&t(im not in the US) I have a different sim in the phone but the phone itself is at&t
Hope this info help

So this is something i have tested working myself. I DO NOT recommend this for everyone simply because you can severely mess up your phone and it's wireless connections.
In a nut shell what this allows you to do is utilize your phones built in 3g mobile hot spot and tethering application without paying the extra $20 a month. The legality of this is questionable so use it at your own risk.
What you need:
Samsung drivers(you can find these)
QPST software download it here
1. Install the samsung driver for our phone, as well as the QPST software
2. Place your phone in modem mode(settings, wireless, enable dial up)
3. Plug in your phone and allow all drivers and everything to install.
4. Load up QPST configuration
5. Navigate to the tab that says ports and select "Add New Port"(if all is well you should have one that says something about usb, or anything about your phone)
6. Once the device is added go to the top menu bar, select "Start Clients" and then "Service Programming"
7. Next select "OK" to the device in the box.
Now for the tricky things where you MUST be careful!
8. at the bottom of this box select "Read from Phone"
9. If the password in the box is not "000000"(six zeros) type it in and click OK.
10. You now want to tab over on the top until you see the tab that says "M. IP" select this.
11. Select Profile 0(it will be the very first one on the top) and select "Edit..."
12. You now should Have two input boxes the first one labled "NAI" and the second "Tethered NAI"
13. Under "Tethered NAI" it should say something similar to "[email protected]" (the X's refer to your personal number)
14. You need to edit this so that it no longer has "dun" in it,
"[email protected]"
15. You should now have NAI and Tethered NAI as the same thing. Now click OK and finally "Write to phone"(located in the bottom left). Your phone will reboot its self.
16. Upon first boot you need to go back into settings, wireless, and disable dial up networking. (first time i did this i got a force close with gapps, but did not cause any issues)
If you followed this exactly, you should now have 3g mobile hotspot
I must warn you however, if you reprogram your phone via *228 this will go away! so it will have to be performed again.
Enjoy!
Is this continuum specific? I've guy a buddy with a Samsung showcase that is very interested.
it should be able to work on most phones. I modified this from a samsung fascinate guide and wrote more detailed instructions, however it should work for most android devices.
ah not to rain on your parade but wouldnt it be easier to just use googles wireles tether 3.0 above and select samsung facinate softap mode pretty much anything will pick that up.
Perhaps it would be easier, but it adds extra bloat and just isn't as good as using the original..
Imagine, you want to tether via wireless or wired.. well you simply go into your drawer and select 3g mobile hotspot... So much easier than downloading an app that you are either limited to non secure sights via a wired connection(pda net) or you have to use a tethering app that may or may not work properly, supports only an adhoc connection, has connectivity issues or is just a PITA to setup...
So why not use the app that is already in your app drawer that you can't get away.
Give it time and i'll have a patch for exactly this where you won't even need to perform these steps...
Oh, did i mention i can alter the amount of devices you can have connected at once via 3g wireless hotspot, and my speeds over 3g with my rom are coming in between 0.5MB-3MB per second (as of the tests i've done as of now. I just pulled 1.71mb/sec upload sucks, but i'm not uploading things using it. lol)

man i miss unlimited data lol thats what got me into trouble with sprint i pretty much forced my hero to roam of off verizon because theres a tower literaly half a mile from my house and apparantly using over 500mb of data roaming a day is a big no no lol. long story short they sent a letter and i got da boot. now i just have a dsl connection and the 2gig data plan so my bill is only about 10$ more than on sprint.
the moral of this story is becarefull with this because verizon does know what your doing

The beauty of this modification is that the regular 3g uses the connection of [email protected]... When you connect up the 3g wireless hotspot it sets the connection to [email protected].. This is how they know you have tethering because verizon sets this connection as active. SOOO what this is actually doing is setting the tethering app to utulize the normal 3g connection. SOOO it looks as if you are simply using the normal 3g connection..
Another way to do this is to run the 3g hotspot and have a widget to turn on and off 3g. When you toggle the connection it sets the connection back to the normal 3g even though you have open 3ghotspot Thus allowing tethering.
I am testing this now and i just performed option 2 after *228 and it did not break tethering. In fact i am on it now. Time for option 1 test
The new wireless tether allows regular connections, not just ADHOC
I've done this before, not gonna lie... But I deemed it.... Eh... Not worth it also, a lot of people have issues with dropped signal after doing it But, it is nifty, no doubt I was messing around with qdxm and such since my original enV

Why are you asking this on a forum for a phone that isn't on sprint, and doesn't even have an equivalent? I would suggest checking your phones forum.
Does it matter what ROM you're on (odex/deodexed)?

I figured as much. Thanks for the speedy reply.
Well I tried this
But for some weird reason every time I trie to mod and restart the phone the parameters return to their original setting, Like I didn't do anything to change it.
Is there something wrong?
I used QPST and if I change the vrzw3g something to anything and restart the phone everything goes back to default...
Thanks for any help.....
If you can't get it working, I honestly wouldn't struggle with it anymore like I said, this is morally grey/illegal, has caused dropped signal for some fascinate users, can be tracked, and has a lot of good alternatives... Wifi tether is my favorite

Mine does that too, not just my phone but my Wireless hotspot too, (a AT&T Unite) I can keep the connection up by doing a "ping www.google.com -t" in the command line.
Yes, this will kill your battery, consider using bluetooth or USB tether.
Furthermore AT&Ts DNS servers suck use these
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Just put them in to your DNS settings in Windows.
This isn't an issue with your devices, its a AT&T issue from the looks of it. (I called AT&T and they tell me that the local tower is having issues so unless I continuously ping google I can't tether or use my hotspot for more than 20 minutes without getting DNS errors, Does it with any ROM I try, even my PlayStation Vita does it)
Sorry but my note 2 is bell variant and i'm on bell network in Canada. The only reason I'm using this forum is because AT&T has the same model unlike the other verizon and such.
So any other idea???
i also tried to set the hotspot auto turn off to always on and it seems to help a little. however every now and then i still get disconnection.

Did anything change when you continuously pinged Google?
I keep refreshing the page, enter new common websites such as MSN or yahoo and they all show nothing except DNS failed look up. I changed the bell apn to some tether apn bell offered but that didn't work. So now I reset the apn to have it look up the settings itself. Still having the issue..
I never had this issue until recengly like last two weeks. Iunno what could be the Cuz and I can't figure out is it my phone, rom, or laptop...
I seriously will pay someone if they can't help me fix this!

Disable your app and use ES File Explorer to hotspot. This can help to see if it is wifi app specific issue, or a common (phone setting, DNS...) problem.

So, I was super excited when I saw the new paranoid android update. I immediately download it, wipe dalvik cache and cache. Flash it, then did the same with the google apps. But afterwards, I wasn't getting data. I thought it was normal at first. Others said it took a little while for them to get data connection back. So I waited. That was at 4 am. Its now 4:30 pm. And I still have no data. I've tried reflashing both the rom and the Google apps but it has not worked. But while doing that, I accidently rushed and end up wiping my data. Had to restore some of it all the way back to June 16. Because like an idiot, I didn't back it up. But even after that, no data. Its just grey bars. I can make calls and stuff. But no internet connection whatsoever. No H at the top. Doesn't tell me I have 3g nor 4g. And when it did, It was still grey with no connection. I searched the forums, but I couldn't find an answer or someone with the same exact problem. And even when I connect to wifi, I still cannot access the play store. If I try to install something, it gives me an error. ("Easy tether Lite" could not be downloaded due to an error (error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0]) ).

Can you post in development section? If so I'd ask what else to try in the ROM thread. That's the only trick I know of on the 4.3 ROMs other than toggling mobile data and airplane mode. By the way what mobile network settings are you on?

Can you explain that for me? I don't know a whole lot about APNs and stuff.
Here is everything I tried.
Resetting my RTN and updating my profile and PRL.
Rebooting (Obviously lol)
Toggling the network modes. I am currently on "LTE". I also do not know what Evod and wcdma are.
Clearing google play services framework cache and data.
Removing my google account and putting it back on my phone.
Reinstalling the ROM
Reinstalling the kernel.
Installing a different kernel.
Trying to go back to 4.2.2 but failed. It just stayed at the booting animation for 30 minutes.
Going into airplane mode and out of it.
Here is what it's doing after all that.
I can't make calls, send messages, nor can I go on the internet. Basically no service, but it has 2 blue bars of cellular network.
It doesn't even show a H, 3g or 4g icon up there. And when it did, it was all grey bars and when they were blue, I still couldn't go on the web.
But now they just have 2 bars, no data icon.
It's been 2 days now, and I am in urgent need of fast help. I am willing to give my delicious cookie recipe to anyone who can provide me with that. (Dead serious).

Use that network mode.
Toggle airplane mode when data stops working. Only thing I can do to get data working for me personally.
Also, try to avoid that sprint diagnostics trick about resetting things. You're really more likely to cause additional problems then fix anything.
Hope it works... I ******* love cookies
Edit: and please people, stop advising to reset things in sprint diagnostics app, it doesn't fix anything...

It brought back the icon for the 4g signal but it still doesn't work.
Do you know what's causing this?

Are you able to make calls/texts now?
Give it a reboot, then try navigating to google.com in browser to see if data works.
If not, toggle airplane mode again
Do you have strong 4g coverage in your area?

Still no data, and when I try to make a call. It says my account couldn't be validated.
But I believe my services are on.

Now your problem is the provisioning... Thanks to that reset in sprint diagnostics app...
You may be able to provision via WiFi and if not you'll need to make a call to sprint.
If you do need to call sprint to re-provision, just play dumb. "Can't make calls or use mobile data, haaalp me pleeeez", they don't need to know any more info.

I googled provision via wifi. But I couldn't find anything helpful.
How do I go about doing this?
Hello everyone,
Since 2 days now, my 4G/LTE/EDGE symbols have been constantly appearing and dissapearing. I am in the NF1 firmware and rooted. It was working great but now it is like goin on/off like every 5 seconds. I think my data got blocked by T-Mobile but I'm really not sure.
You can see the video I recorded about the issue here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Vy0A4LQD_E
Anyone had this happened to them before?

That's not normal, Never ran nf1 myself went straight to nf4. NF4 is basically a fix for issues that occurred with NF1, maybe update

It was working fine for one week, but I think they blocked my access to it. I'm trying to communicate and check what is the problem.
Phone calls and messages works great however, is only the data that is not working.

You think you went over your allotted data limit? If that was so then the symbol would switch to 4G instead of 4Glte, Maybe you are right that you've passed your limit and maybe you should check settings/more networks/mobile networks and ensure that network mode is set to LTE/WCDMA/GSM and check that mobile data is enabled.........and my last guess could be that maybe your sim is loose or failing?

I think it is a bug in the system. I used 2056.47GB according to the My T-Mobile website (tethering non stop), but on the use tab it tells me I used 2048GB of Unlimited. Maybe that stopped my data. I guess on the 17th it will reset and I'll have internet again since calls and messages works correctly. Also, there's no alert on my account and neither a message sent, so my guess is their system just limit the data to 2048GB somehow.
2 terabyte wow. I use net10 on att towers and have massive data connection issues as of the past 2 days and i just put a new monthly on it.
note 3 4.4.2 stock rooted N900T

I called them and they said the data was not blocked and that it was not possible to block because it is unlimited, which I think is clearly a system bug or a hard or soft limit of 2048GB
I find it really hard to believe that you managed to use 2TB of data, even if you're tethering. I'm not saying you're lieing, but I think there's something wrong on the backend here that's not reporting appropriately.
There's obviously some kind of issue occuring when you authenticate on the T-Mobile network. My suggestion is either ODIN the phone back to stock and try again, or go into a Store and see if they can tell you anything about your account that's throwing flags at them.
I hope they did block you.

Yeah I think they did that throttling thing because of me
Well, I'm hoping the 17th I get the internet again, of course more carefully. I was just looking at the "how much unlimited data means" limit and I seem to have found it.
If not, the reps said it could be the SIM Card and I have to go to the store then.

How can you even call TMO with a straight face? 2 TB is abusing it, dude.
Can you try a few things?
1) Turn the phone off then back on see how long you have data for.
2) Force the data band of the phone and see how long data works for.
3) Put your SIM into a different device and see how long you have data for.
And of course if you can try all these things on a few different towers just to be sure.
Also can you try cooking an egg on your phone? That thing must be running pretty HOT.

All of that was what the reps said me to do, but data doesn't work.
Here is the bug I suspect, which makes me believe data is turned off at 2048GB:
In this image, the data reported 2048GB, but it let me use a little more. It just stayed at 2048GB

Here you can see that it is reporting what I really used before data was turned off:
I know I may have abused but still they didn't really said nothing about it, and they said blocking can't be done on the phone call. They said to visit the store for a phone/SIM checkup.
You can try to reset your NV values and modem. Below is a link to the thread with instructions.

I have just confirmed myself that this is indeed a system limitation by T-Mobile. Today my cycle reset and I got my data back.
So, in conclusion, T-Mobile unlimited plan indeed have the 2048GB limit.
I hope people aren't complaining about a 2 terabytes limit. I felt like I was abusing when going through 10 gigs a month.

OMG...2TB of mobile data, that's insane!! Even I have The 105Mbps Comcast plan and I can only manage to use 170GB a month(streaming Netflix and downloading torrents everyday)
Having my Mate 20x for 3 months now and being generally happy with it, I recently encountered an annoying bug.
It seems that whenever I connect to a WiFi, that doesn't have Internet capability currently, the phone uses my mobile data to connect, download or sync. Like as if Wifi+ was enable (which isn't the case).
As I'm a permanent traveler, currently in Africa, connecting to WiFi that temporarily don't work, happens quite often, especially after a blackout or something.
Anyway, my Wifi+ is switched off, I restarted and switched it also a few times, but my mobile data is still being used when WiFi doesn't work properly.
I have the EVR-L29 still on the 9.0.0.208 version. The 9.0.0.300 update has popped, but I'm afraid to download it, due to newly introduced crashed and since I basically don't have any other problem with the phone and awesome battery life. Having had Mate 8 and Mate 10 before, I had a few times, that updating too early made it less than worthwhile and since I'm not rooted and despite using Android since Froyo, I'm meanwhile beyond the flashing and downgrading days of old.
What would you guys recommend to remedy the problem?
Thanks!

I think this is an unfortunate feature if emui on this device. I recently asked the question of why is 4G still showing on my status bar when I'm connected to WiFi. On other devices that I've owned connecting to WiFi would visibly remove the mobile data connection. It would be appear that in your case connecting to WiFi truly doesn't disable mobile data.
How about if you turn WiFi+ off, and try connecting to the dead access point, what happens then? Does it still use mobile data ? I just looked at WiFi + and it states that it connects automatically to mobile data and or WiFi to stay online. So perhaps it's doing as intended?

Yes, my Wifi+ is always off. I never used that feature. But I noticed also as you mentioned, that the mobile data counter is still on, even when connected to WiFi. And when the WiFi status has that 'exlamation mark' meaning it's not connected to the Internet, that counter is still running, thus taking data from mobile data.

On the attached screenshot it shows mobile data field as present with WiFi on with my device. On other devices that field Mobile Data would show "disconnected". I wish I could help further , I'm new to emui.

I knowwwww... But I'm reluctant to set up everything manually again... Might probably go through all those updates once I have a stable and fast WiFi again somewhere.

I don't think there is. It seems an emui feature.
Like I mentioned earlier, other Android devices I've used in the past automatically shut down/ disable mobile data when WiFi is connected. Seems like with this device you don't truly know if you're on mobile data or wifi.?

Interesting tid bit I just came across and thought I'd share with you. So for the first time on this device I ran optimize battery under the battery settings menu.
It suggested I turn off mobile data :silly: very confusing if you ask me.
Seems like Emui has a major status bar flaw in it in this respect. When I turn mobile data off via the pull down quick toggle and also turn WiFi off. It still shows 4G LTE on status bar. I guess this is the issue!
Aida64 app shows that mobile data is disconnected when on WiFi. Still doesn't answer why 4G icon persists when mobile data and wifi is off though.
In Developer Options>~Networking~Mobile data always on~toggle
Tried that?
