HTC 10 Build quality. First Impressions. Over all love!! - HTC 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

HTC 10 owners speak up! How great is your 10 let everyone know how well yours is built and holding up. Also your first impressions, the knock your socks off experience unfortunately mine shipped while I was on vacation and is sitting at home waiting on me. Will report on Monday when I get home! Can't wait!

From the 7-ish hours I've had mine, it has 100% completely lived up to the hype and has been an enormous upgrade from my One m9. I have absolutely zero build quality, screen, or performance issues. The camera is miles ahead of the m9's and I can't wait for the 1.30 software update to hit my phone which will make it even better. Also, one thing that really stood out is just how fast and accurate the fingerprint scanner is. The capacitive button idea is simply perfect for a fingerprint scanner. There's no way I can go back to a phone without a fingerprint scanner now.
My absolute biggest complaint (if you can call it that) is the position of the headphone jack. I've gotten used to having it on the bottom of the phone which fits best with my personal usage since I place a phone top-down in my pocket. I'm not sure this even qualifies as a problem and I know I'll get used to it quickly.

Let me tell you, you will not be disappointed! The 10 is, without a doubt, the best android experience currently available.

Yes also I had the 6p, I found it too big and clunky. I currently have the Lumia 950xl. While it is also a 5.7" screen, it is quite a bit smaller and lighter than the 6p. I also really did not like the camera strip at the back. Just could not get used to that at all.

I came from the shamu to the 6p so the screen size didn't bother me, and the phenomenal camera on the 6p made up for the ugly glass strip. Overall I'm extremely happy with the 6p but I have always been an HTC fan,(I of course had the M9 and A9 both in between, but both had their limitations) so I'm really really anxious to try a more pure stock sense experience coupled with very promising hardware!!

How is the notification sound for you guys? Idk if it is my unit, or its me, or they are all in general like that but the notification sound is kinda muffled

That's one of the main reasons I switched, the 6p was just was just to big for me. Loving the smaller screen size.

The HTC 10 feel a whole lot more solid and heftier. The fit and finish just feels nicer, no mismatching plastics or pieces that aren't flush, there is no black plastic "ring" around the screen that dents and comes off easily, button feel more solid
I used to be diehard pure Android only and have tried different skins over the years, even stuff like PA or some other custom wrong. But I'm finding myself liking sense a lot. Hated the previous version on my One S. I am itching to root just so I can block ads...

the way i would describe it is real metal especially compared to the A9 and X9 (which has thin metal like the iPhone)
the 10 is simply steel and glass, with no plastics in your sight (except the hidden strips)
overall a screaming premium feel, my TPU case is killing the whole aura so i am really anxious for my Spigen ExactFit to arrive, also the Fitbag black rave pouch looks amazingly classy with it

My eyesight isn't what it used to be so I've been using phablets - Note 2, Note 4, Moto X Pure Edition - and I was a little worried about the smaller screen size on the HTC 10. I've discovered, however, that it's very easy for me to read the HTC 10 screen. I prefer Sense over TouchWiz, but I've been spoiled by the flexibility of Nova Prime and I installed it on my HTC 10 after about an hour. So far, I'm very pleased with the HTC 10. I'll know more after I've used it for a week or two.

I'm hard of hearing but I can easily hear the notification sound on my HTC 10, even without my hearing aids.

I got mine yesterday (so far I love it) and I just now noticed there is a slight gap between the top of the screen and the frame. Has anyone else noticed this?

OK after having phone a solid 8 hours with 80% of my apps installed compared to Samsung S7 Edge is a mini review:
Nice build quality, slightly smaller screen, cleaner UI but with some idiosyncrasies, very good sound, type-C connector.
I am finding the more apps I install the slower the phone is becoming with some lag and stutter, the camera is quite good but Edge is better overall especially in low light, Edge is blazing fast despite touch wiz, Edge screen is gorgeous and battery life is probably better but will withhold judgement on HTC 10 for a day or two.
Overall a very good phone but not enough to best the Edge. Marketing will be an issue for this phone and may be difficult for buyers to justify at same price point if the preorder $100 discount is not available.
The wow factor is almost there IMHO.
Will keep testing with an open mind.

I love this freagin Phone Gawt Damn it.

I don't care about the little freaky glitches or that the battery only lasts a day with moderate usage(typical android and pretty good for htc). The phone is damn sexy, HTC sense for once works for me and I like it. The screen is out of this world, and it takes a second for my eyes to accept the low resolution, and clarity of the real world when I take my eyes of the screen. I love the quality of pictures it takes and really expected far worse from an HTC camera. The design and feel is sexy. Not to heavy and not to light, 4.7 inches and it feels like a much smaller phone. Little cute LED to let me know what I am missing(not the strobe light that upsets my wife at night on the galaxy nexus). Its the first phone that makes me want to whisper love poems to it.
Now where are the damn screen protectors and cases worthy of her beauty?
There is a white one x sitting in my amazon cart right now, taunting me. I bought the GNote at launch and I love it but its not a bad idea to have a smaller phone for other situations. The one x seems pretty damn impressive. I have a feeling that with it not being sold in the US in quad core form, it will hold its value pretty well. At least until the inevitable sgs3 drops damnit Im addicted to phones

Thats true the value in the states will stay high. I loved my note but this phone just feels special.
In love
I'm definitely in love with the One X too! I have the Gnex and it's getting pretty jealous right now, lol. Screen is so much better and it's so fast. Also real pleased with all the dev going on, makes me feel better about my purchase. I've had a few screen glitches but only since I rooted and went with custom roms. Although I unlocked the bootloader in less then 24 hours so not much chance to give stock a good run. My employer offset the cost and put in $300 towards my new baby so it was a bargain!!! Very pleased overall.
Pulled the trigger on a white one. One day shipping should put it in my hands before I leave for vacation weds afternoon

Well no glitches or problems for me! bought a white version and I LOVE IT! what a fantastic phone! Very happy to be a HTC customer!
I love the phone too just wished the battery was a little better but the camera is pretty good and the best i have seen on a phone. It's light feels great. Really good screen over saturates on some colours however the quad core is a power house.
I noticed you on AT&T do you have the snap dragon version? Or did you get the unlocked global version?

I get 4G on AT&T in Texas on mine.
Oh, and I completely echo the sentiment of the OP: This phone is the ****.
Yep, I got the grey one since I dont rly like the white color. White is timeless, agreed, and can look pretty elegant (and expensive), but I am more the dark type of person (color preference, not personality or style ) like more the decent, non attention colors. Grey just fits me quite well, and yes, its one damn beauty.
Sense 4.0 still got its issues, like pretty borked memory management (Rosie Reloads anyone? Drives me crazy sometimes) and bugged Tegra 3 drivers. Tegra 2 Games and Apps mostly run horrible, and the Tegra 3 enabled Games start to lag quite abit when alot interaction is going on.
Software-wise, and performance-wise, this phone is capable of so much more. Just look that the Transformer Prime with Tegra 3. It has a similar screen resolution, but almost EVERYTHING runs effin smooth on this baby. That is just ONE proof that HTC ****ed up the rushed release with its buggy software. Cant wait for a new, optimized and more ironed out firmware upgrade!
Camera Performance isn't final as well. I guess the bad performance is due to some missing optimizations, the hardware is great.
Overall, I dont regret switching from my Galaxy S2 i9100 to the One X, knowing it can do even better than it already does.

How do you guys like your M8?

So I'm turning in my work phone (S5) as I move to a new job and am buying my own phone for the first time in a LONG time, so I'm trying to keep the price down. I found the M8 for $99 on contract and am thinking I will go with that, just wondering how you guys feel about yours still?
Any input would be greatly appreciated
I still love my phone. I paid off contract the first day it was available for Verizon. I'm stock with root. I use xposed for what I do want and the phones still fast as ever. This is the smoothest, snappiest phone I've come into contact with. And what's dope about it is it isn't bogged down with bloat. It feels like a stock android phone. Camera is still okay.. But I'm used to it. I've had people question what android phone this is and be shocked that it's HTC. Most of my friends went to iPhone after the Evo. This is leaps and bounds better. I have a tempered glass screen protector and a slick wraps skin on it just to keep the form factor. I would buy it all over again.
But FYI.. There's a few different screens going around on the M8. My original had more warm colors. This random one I received as a replacement a while ago because something I did has cooler colors and a screen that's way brighter.

I'm only on my second day with the phone, I immediately rooted and installed viperoneM8. Since I only have 2 days experience and my last smart phone was an old piece of crap nexus I don't really have anything else to compare it to. My first impressions are that I am very impressed with the sound and with the battery life, my last phone wouldn't even make it to noon with light usage, since this phone is still new I been using it really heavy and playing videos, using gps, playing some newer games and it makes it through the whole day without getting low. Build quality is the best, camera is decent, it is responsive and works well without issues what more can I say about it.
I had my phone since the 30th of June.
I had an ATT iPhone 5s. I was liking the 5s bus I've always had the iPhone and knew nothing of android. I always thought iPhones were the best and never paid any attention to ugly android phones which were often sold for a new one
Well, I was tired of Apple and ATT. ATT made me upset so I researched the S5 and the M8.
After seeing many people return the s5 I went with the m8. I hope it can last about 3 years minimum like iPhones easily do.
I played Zelda ocarina of time on mine. I also noticed the keyboard does not like my fingers my iPhone keyboard was good. Swift key is amazing but I worry putting to many apps will slow my phone so I am getting used to the stock keyboard.
Camera is nearly as good as my 5s with the hdr. Sound from speaker phone is better on my m8 and its faster.(feels faster).
I had to return my first phone due to a dead part of the touch screen, second phone had a bad.WiFi receiver but was.snappy, 3rd phone works well but it feels slower and the screen seems warmer rather then cooler. My phone also shows glue on the lenses but does not effect camera and is bareley noticeable.
I like the phone. My iPhone is made solid I dropped it constantly with no case it's been good. I hope that htc uses the high quality ic's like Apple.
I got mine off Amazon for 100 and it was definitely worth it. Speakers are great, it's a good size, and it works. My old phone was a galaxy s3 and it was plenty fast still, but it fell apart. Battery life on the m8 is great too. I'm actually very happy with it.
Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
I'm only just over a week into owning mine. Quality build and materials but I'm not sure if I will keep it as I moved to windows last year and I prefer the windows os.
The unlock gestures on the htc are not very well thought out compared to Nokia plus I miss having glance screen. I will give it another week or so to see if I'm going to hold onto it.
The phone itself is great but it is more the os that I have a problem with but if you want android then I think the M8 is the best option.
Had mine for almost a couple of months.
Love it, just a couple little niggles like no multicolour led and the pesky speaker grills get crap stuck in them.
I'd recommend a spidgen case too.
My partner has the S5 it feels like a toy, touchwiz is annoying and I really prefer my M8 in every way.
I was a Samsung S3 user before hand , had the S5 taken the same design (the pebble didn't look and feel so cheap) I would of considered it.
Not a HTC fanboy by any means (I've had quiet a few HTC phones back in the day) but truth be told they were garbage.
The M8 is a different story, HTC truly upped their game.

Camera was the only thing that almost held me back from getting this phone. However, after reading this, nothing was holding me back anymore from getting it.
It is the best phone I've had so far!
No buyer remorse at all!
Oh yeah... In light of my essay earlier in the thread I'd like to note that I was sworn off htc since my rezound. Went to the s3. Coming back to htc feels awesome. After they picked up the pieces.

Phone is fast. It's usually waiting for me to catch up to it.
Xposed with Side Control module makes up for how tall the phone is to drop down the quick settings with a side swipe.
Double tap to sleep on the Side Control is great also. This one module makes this phone for me.
Bought this phone unlocked in Belgium for 669€ and it was totally worth it. The battery life is good, speakers are amazing, screen looks beautiful and so on , definitely a big win!

Anyone else moving to Nexus 6?

First of all.. I LOVE this phone. Sooooooooo much better than any Samsung on the market. BUT I am sooooo tired if the bad battery life and the lag.
I've been playing with the nexus 6 a lot at work ( Tmobile) and I LOVE how fast, smooth and beautiful it is. And the nexus 6 with the bigger battery and optimized for android 5.0 is supposed to get much better battery
The nexus won't be much bigger than my current setup. Going to go with a cruzerlite tpu case on it... It will be about the same size as my g3 with an otter box on it.
Anyone else switching? And why
Oh.. I'm actually going to miss the back buttons. I fell in love with them. But I like how all nexus buttons are in thumb reach like the Sony.. buttons on top of phone and/or on both sides of the phone is a horrible idea

I moved to the Nexus 6 and returned it within the buyers remorse period was over.
Cons
Battery
Pink-ish tint on low brightnes
Camera
Finger print magnet
Pros
Screen size
Speakers
In hand feel
Camera
Lollipop
Speed
I do not have a opinion on the nexus but I also think the back buttons are amazing. I do differ on the top/bottom button though, right side power button is the next best thing imo.
I saw it the T-Mobiles store. Speakers were amazing. Loved the screen size. Pretty much all.
The screen is just horrible. Isn’t just because is crapmoled, is just a really bad screen. There is no mode to reduce the over saturation as Samsung has. It is something really wrong with that screen; you can see a rainbow effect with the blue-greyish color of the interface, especially when pulling down the notifications bar. That bezel is just gigantic on the sides; bigger than my ex-nexus 4. Screen is way dimmer than the LG G3. I don’t remember what kind of tint but white colors were not whites at all.
Doesn’t have a functional notification light. Seriously?
Non removable battery. No thanks, had enough of that already.
This is personal taste but I think the Motorola curved design is ultra-ugly. Not to mention the huge nexus stamp on the back that looks so ghetto.
Had a 64gb Nexus 6 for about 5 days and returned it during the buyers remorse period.
I'm now using a Moto X 2014 pure edition with lollipop as my daily. My G3 is back in the box, I will take it out and start using it again once official lollipop gets pushed for it.
What I liked about the Nexus 6.
Design, very nice looking device, feels solid and well made. Speakers were nice and loud but lacked "fullness" like the HTC M8. Camera is very nice also, I think the pictures look better in low-mid light compared to the G3. Outdoors it's a tie.
What I did not like..
I admit, I like AMOLED screens but Motorola took the oversaturation to the next level. Same like my Moto X, everything just looks weird to my eyes. Samsung is getting much better with toning down their AMOLEDs and Motorola seems to be picking up where Samsung left off.
Stutters, there are still some micro-stutters present. Sometimes swiping fast to the right to access the Google Now page will cause the phone to stutter. I thought pure Android Lollipop on top end specs with ART runtime as default would provide the fastest and smoothest Android experience... nope.
My Moto X on Lollipop is smoother, believe it or not. Might be the software encryption on the Nexus 6 slowing things down. Games don't seem to run as smoothly either.
Size, I like my phones big but even with my Ringke slim case on, this phone is borderline comical in size.
So after using it for a few days, I found that I liked my Moto X 2014 edition better plus with the Cyber Monday coupon deal, I got it for basically half the price of the Nexus 6. Heck I even think my One Plus One was an overall better device with better battery life, smoother performance and much nicer screen.
It's nice that the Nexus 6 came first with Lollipop and all but now many devices are running Lollipop also so I don't see the appeal anymore, frankly I think it was massively overpriced. $784 here after tax and overnight shipping, definitely not worth the price so back it went.
I thought about it, but the phone is just too big and it feels awkward to hold. My G3 with the Cruzerlite case on is a lot easier to manage in hand than a Nexus 6 with no case on. I can easily use the G3 one handed and that just won’t be possible with the Nexus 6. Tried fooling around with my friend’s phone and it’s just doing nothing for me.
Development scene has picked up enough for the G3 that I’d call the G3 a better Nexus than the Nexus 6 is if both devices are running stock or stockish Lollopop. It’s big for no reason and with Google making no effort at all to design apps for large devices or even OS features to take advantage of the screen real estate, I just can’t hand over my money that easily to them. After the 4, 5, and 7, it looks like I’m done with the Nexus brand while I patiently await the G4.
I agree.
I tried every way possible to justify getting rid of my G3 for a N6. The more I tried, the more I found ways to tweak what I didn't like. Now, with it all customized, it is the best phone I have ever owned.
The only phone I am waiting on now is the G4.

Droid Turbo 2 First Impressions

I've been using the Droid Turbo since the original launch date. I picked up the Turbo 2 this morning on the way to the office. Here are my observations thus far:
Good
Turbo charging is much faster.
The screen quality is great (plastic smchmastic!)
Power and volume buttons are improved.
This puppy is fast!
Android 5.1.1 is snappy.
New Moto tools are nice. I'm fond of "lift for voice."
The form factor is an improvement over the Turbo.
Addition of the SD card is very welcome!
I prefer the soft touch material to the Kevlar or ballistic nylon options on the Turbo.
The camera is surprisingly good and has zero shutter lag. It took some good pictures in low light.
Drum roll please... The volume is excellent!!!
Not so good
Do they have to keep making them bigger?
Did I mention it's bigger?
A fingerprint scanner would have been a welcomed addition.
In case you hadn't noticed, it's bigger.
Silly little Verizon logo on the chin is unnecessary.
I'll update this list throughout the day.
Thank you for posting. I am planning on a trip to Verizon after work to take a look, possibly buying if they have color combos that I like.
My questions, if you have time.
Are the front speakers stereo and how well does it work with the bottom one cut in half?
How is the screen in sunlight?

I've been using the Droid Turbo since the original launch date. I picked up the Turbo 2 this morning on the way to the office. Here are my observations thus far:
I'll update this list throughout the day.

Any chance you can post a photo/vid of the screens side by side on like min/mid/max brightness?
I have a Maxx, but won the DT2 during the droidseeker disaster yesterday
Sorry. I traded in the Turbo. Congrats on winning one. I got kicked out of the game 5 times with no success.

ah, damn. Would you say its comparable? Heard some questions about the increased "gap" between the front panels and the actual screen underneath.
Re: winning, i got really lucky got booted alllllll day, then around 10 ish i gave it "one last shot" & it just started working perfectly.
So screen ISNT a downgrade despite 500 layers of materials? Did you have a chance to put the Turbo and Turbo-2 side by side to compare? Thats one thing definitely concerning me.
Also, I assume the speakers, despite 2 grills, are NOT stereo, right? Can you confirm that? glad to hear volume is improved.

I can't speak to being stereo, or not. The sound is very good. The screen is much easier to read in daylight than my Droid Turbo.

Perhaps, but I can't find fault with it. Probably more black around the screen then some of the newer slimmer phones.

I've read reviews that say only the right portion of the bottom speaker bit is actually used for music/speakerphone. No idea if they knew what they were talking about though. Could the bit to the left just be for looks?

No, as far as I am concerned the screen quality is at least equal.
Yeah I'd say the negatives pretty much come down to:
1. Big
2. No fingerprint scanner yet
3. Screen size is not as big as it could be, verizon logo, lost some of the aesthetic appeal since the Moto X
Fwiw I looked at four different T2s and every screen was dark and dingy compared to my Pure with full brightness on all of them.

At the Verizon store last night. Thanks to a non-motivated sales person I did not leave with one, but I got mine ordered on Moto-maker under contract.
The screen was fine for me holding it next to a HTC One M7. I may be more forgiving than others so a personal inspection is a real good idea.
This may just be me but I was kind of expecting stereo speaker output and this is not the case. Youtube played from the lower speaker area on the demo units at Verizon.
Edit: On a side note, does Motomaker normally ship in less than 24 hours? I put in my order at 10pm and this morning Verizon sent me tracking info. That seems a bit fast...I hope they get my order right.
I overheard a sales person saying that they give you a code to follow up with Moto directly. No idea if this is true. Probably a lot of confusion with a new program.

I put a motomaker order in at about 9pm last night, by 1030, it was "being built." I could see it shipping in 24 hours based on this. I seem to remember hearing motomaker would be 1-2 days to build.
Against my principle of waiting for it to have android 6 (so I have no right to complain if it takes forever to get marshmallow... I knew better Lol), I picked up a turbo 2 today.
So far I like it a lot. I was worried about the screen being too detached with all of the layers, and while it does seem farther away than on my note 5, it isn't a big deal to me.
No fingerprint scanner isn't a big deal to me since I have a moto 360, and use it as a trusted device.

Picked up a dt2 today. Traded in my old lg g2. Loved my droid maxx and still have it as a backup phone. So far I'm really liking this phone. Screen is bright and ui seems fast. Camera is OK but I've seen better. Fp scanner would have been nice but not a have to for me right now. Under development option there's a unlock oem bootloader toggle. Not sure what's that about. It can't be that easy. Yeah the split grills at bottom are not too attractive but hey who really looks at your phone but you. It's not that big a deal to me. Sound is pretty good. Overall I'm happy.
So been away from XDA for a while but just picked up my Droid Turbo 2 and loving it so far... Nice solid build quality, solid reception, Ballistic material has a nice feel, cameras are typical moto in my opinion but good enough for my use... the front flash for the times when the gf wants a selfie is going to be a big plus... overall very pleased so far... looking forward to more time with this device....
Also OEM (bootloader unlocking) has a toggle under developer options so maybe it wont be so locked down...
Just ordered my Turbo2.
Considering I was able to get the trade-in promo of $300 value for my existing Turbo, and use account upgrade on the new Turbo2, I'm actually coming out ahead. Wow.
Awesomeness.

Really? I was going to order online and was going to do the promotion of the trade in, but they only appraised my Turbo at a value of $191

Anyone upgrading from Nexus 6P?

I'm really thinking about getting this phone, but would like to hear some opinions on people who made the switch from the Nexus 6P. Can anyone give some input on that? Thanks!
I have the nexus 6p and will be getting the htc 10 since I have always had an htc phone. Will keep the 6p though. Just waiting on the carbon gray htc 10 for verizon.
I did. Love the smaller size, much better build quality and feels a whole lot more solid. Sense is pretty nice too.
I want to try something new from my 6P although I really don't need to. At first I was considering the S7E, G5, and now the 10. Each phone has its pro's and con's... but the 10 seems to be the most enticing overall. The only thing that would make it perfect for me were if it were actually front facing speakers, OLED, and a little bigger screen size... but other than that, I think it'll be a great phone. Maybe I'll enjoy the smaller footprint.

I only got to listen to the speakers in a VZW store. How do they stack up to the 6P? Also, how is the screen brightness and contrast? I'm hoping the contrast is at least as good as the LG G5.
Bought my 6P early April, i returned it on the 12th just after the 10 was announced
what i liked?
Decent Screen,
Decent Battery life,
Dev support & software
Fast charging
Front facing speakers
camera? (good but no 1080*60 recording was a downfall)
Why i returned it?
Headset volume I listen to music via 24/7 the headphone jack dac was poor, the max volume was low( even while rooted with elemental x kernel, power amp etc)
Size, i had no issues holding it & got used to the size pretty fast coming from the 4'7 m7 however it felt uncomfortable in my pocket while sitting down, i was constantly checking to make sure it wasn't falling out.
Build. IT felt cheap for a metal phone, it didn't feel as soild as my m7, i was paranoid regarding the bending around the power button
Price, wasn't really competitive at the time of purchase £449 vs £513 for HTC 10
Always been a fan of HTC and I loved my M8 but the camera was horrible and battery life was meh.
Going from the Moto X Pure to the Nexus 6P felt like a big difference in overall quality. And then I got my hands on the HTC 10 and it completely blows the 6P out of the water in my personal opinion.
I switched from a Nexus 6P to the HTC 10 and definitely prefer the 10 overall. Like Diz said, the audio quality of the 10 is MUCH better than the 6P, in both Bluetooth and with headphones. The 6P really gets spanked by the 10 in this area.
The size of the 10 is much better for me. It's totally a personal preference, of course, but the 6P was just way too big for my hands.
Battery life has been fine for me so far. It gets me through a day without having to recharge. When I do recharge with the QuickCharge 3.0 charger, it charges fast! My 10 was at 34% battery the other night, I put it on the charger and it indicated the phone would be fully charged in 30 minutes. :good:
Build quality of the 10 feels great, it's a very nice, solid-feeling phone.
I've been fine with the Sense skin, even as a guy who prefers stock Android. I just hope HTC will do timely updates for this phone as time goes on.
Fingerprint scanner has worked fine for me. I think it's a tad slower than the one on the 6P, but nothing to fuss about, IMHO.
Overall, I personally haven't found any major issues with the 10. When I pre-ordered it, I wasn't sure if I'd prefer it to the 6P or not, but I'm glad I decided to give it a try. I really like the phone and have made it my daily driver, while my 6P will now be sitting on my desk as my emergency backup phone.
The screen color is a lot better than 6p. However I think the camera is better on 6p. When you are taking the pic on the 10 it looks great, but right as I click the button it seems like the still is not as great. Idk it's weird. But I prefer the size. I love the thinness of the 6p but it was too long for me. I prefer the HTC UI overall.

The camera sensors are the same. HTC is just having trouble getting the exposure correct. Everything else is pretty solid. In the meantime, I'd recommend just using Pro mode to slightly tweaked the shots. You will get better pictures than the 6P guaranteed - f/1.8, OIS, and more manual control will make this the best camera on a mobile device yet. How so? The 6P wins a lot of contests already. As mentioned, the HTC 10 can only improve upon that.
I have both, basically the size of the 6P is what did it for me. Too huge... And I don't like amoled

I have both and currently the 6P takes better pictures and this is after the HTC update.

I also switched from a 6p. On the 6p I was having trouble with Bluetooth and the phone got really slow for whatever reason.. On top of that I prefer a smaller phone and the 4gb ram does make a difference. So far so good with the htc 10, the camera is pretty much the same. I wish they would update the quick settings but besides that it's a winner.

Thanks for the input guys, hearing so many positive things. I think I will give it a try.
Ditto to everyone concerning the size. Much, much better everyday phone as it now actually fits in my pocket.
In terms of screen, I still prefer AMOLED to the LCD panel on the 10. Regardless, the 10's is still great.
I'm going to be a dissenting vote. I now have both and I think I'll be returning the 10. The size of the 6P was bugging me and I loved my M7 (I've kept it as a backup for the last several phones I've had) so I bit the bullet and preordered. Have had it for a few days now.
Now don't get me wrong, the 10 is a fantastic phone - every good thing that has been said about it is true. Build quality is amazing, camera is great, speedy, the boomsound is good, Sense is much better now, etc. However, there are a few things that are bugging me enough to return it.
1. Purely a matter of preference, but I like the AMOLED better than the LCD.
2. The green/amber only LED is annoying. I color code contacts so that I can tell who I have texts, etc. from without turning on the screen in meetings. Not an option with the 10.
3. Bluetooth issues with my car - unlike the four other phones I've had with this car, the 10 won't sync contacts. It will show the last several calls, but only as numbers, not names. Apparently this has been a problem with several HTCs and particularly German cars. I finally solved it, mostly, by installing the Google phone and contacts APKs from APK Mirror. Now the contacts appear, but there are random, weird duplicates. Must be something unique to the HTC dialer/people apps.
4. When I use voice typing over bluetooth, the audio in the car doesn't pause, unlike with 3 of the last four phones I've had.
5. Shockingly, I've gotten so used to the screen size of the 6P that the 5.2" screen seems unnaturally small! I'm sure I would get back used to it over time.
Most or all of these are personal preferences or things that are particular to my situation and are not meant as general criticisms of the phone.
I have both a 6P and a 10 and I like the 10 much more... Except for the performance. I expected it with the 820 and near stock android skin it would fly, but just going into settings and scrolling down all the way in one flick shows dropped frames etc. In apps ( Especially weather timeline) I see scrolling much smoother on the 6P. Really surprising. I'm thinking of returning the 10 and getting either the exynos S7 or LG G5 because I also had the G5 and that was hands down the fastest phone I've ever used.
I have an opportunity to buy a 6p 64gb silver for 390$ brand new but I also don't know because I kind of want the 10 :\

That's weird, you should try LeeDroid ROM.
Hmm have been using the 6p and now want to try the 10 simply because of the sd card slot. However am more concerned with the performance issue because the 6p is the smoothest phone I have ever used. Can anyone who made the switch please give an opinion on overall smoothness and scrolling please?
