Droid Turbo 2 First Impressions - Droid Turbo 2 General

I've been using the Droid Turbo since the original launch date. I picked up the Turbo 2 this morning on the way to the office. Here are my observations thus far:
Good
Turbo charging is much faster.
The screen quality is great (plastic smchmastic!)
Power and volume buttons are improved.
This puppy is fast!
Android 5.1.1 is snappy.
New Moto tools are nice. I'm fond of "lift for voice."
The form factor is an improvement over the Turbo.
Addition of the SD card is very welcome!
I prefer the soft touch material to the Kevlar or ballistic nylon options on the Turbo.
The camera is surprisingly good and has zero shutter lag. It took some good pictures in low light.
Drum roll please... The volume is excellent!!!
Not so good
Do they have to keep making them bigger?
Did I mention it's bigger?
A fingerprint scanner would have been a welcomed addition.
In case you hadn't noticed, it's bigger.
Silly little Verizon logo on the chin is unnecessary.
I'll update this list throughout the day.

Thank you for posting. I am planning on a trip to Verizon after work to take a look, possibly buying if they have color combos that I like.
My questions, if you have time.
Are the front speakers stereo and how well does it work with the bottom one cut in half?
How is the screen in sunlight?

Any chance you can post a photo/vid of the screens side by side on like min/mid/max brightness?
I have a Maxx, but won the DT2 during the droidseeker disaster yesterday

Sorry. I traded in the Turbo. Congrats on winning one. I got kicked out of the game 5 times with no success.

ah, damn. Would you say its comparable? Heard some questions about the increased "gap" between the front panels and the actual screen underneath.
Re: winning, i got really lucky got booted alllllll day, then around 10 ish i gave it "one last shot" & it just started working perfectly.

So screen ISNT a downgrade despite 500 layers of materials? Did you have a chance to put the Turbo and Turbo-2 side by side to compare? Thats one thing definitely concerning me.
Also, I assume the speakers, despite 2 grills, are NOT stereo, right? Can you confirm that? glad to hear volume is improved.

I can't speak to being stereo, or not. The sound is very good. The screen is much easier to read in daylight than my Droid Turbo.

Perhaps, but I can't find fault with it. Probably more black around the screen then some of the newer slimmer phones.

I've read reviews that say only the right portion of the bottom speaker bit is actually used for music/speakerphone. No idea if they knew what they were talking about though. Could the bit to the left just be for looks?

No, as far as I am concerned the screen quality is at least equal.

Yeah I'd say the negatives pretty much come down to:
1. Big
2. No fingerprint scanner yet
3. Screen size is not as big as it could be, verizon logo, lost some of the aesthetic appeal since the Moto X

Fwiw I looked at four different T2s and every screen was dark and dingy compared to my Pure with full brightness on all of them.

At the Verizon store last night. Thanks to a non-motivated sales person I did not leave with one, but I got mine ordered on Moto-maker under contract.
The screen was fine for me holding it next to a HTC One M7. I may be more forgiving than others so a personal inspection is a real good idea.
This may just be me but I was kind of expecting stereo speaker output and this is not the case. Youtube played from the lower speaker area on the demo units at Verizon.
Edit: On a side note, does Motomaker normally ship in less than 24 hours? I put in my order at 10pm and this morning Verizon sent me tracking info. That seems a bit fast...I hope they get my order right.

I overheard a sales person saying that they give you a code to follow up with Moto directly. No idea if this is true. Probably a lot of confusion with a new program.

I put a motomaker order in at about 9pm last night, by 1030, it was "being built." I could see it shipping in 24 hours based on this. I seem to remember hearing motomaker would be 1-2 days to build.

Against my principle of waiting for it to have android 6 (so I have no right to complain if it takes forever to get marshmallow... I knew better Lol), I picked up a turbo 2 today.
So far I like it a lot. I was worried about the screen being too detached with all of the layers, and while it does seem farther away than on my note 5, it isn't a big deal to me.
No fingerprint scanner isn't a big deal to me since I have a moto 360, and use it as a trusted device.

Picked up a dt2 today. Traded in my old lg g2. Loved my droid maxx and still have it as a backup phone. So far I'm really liking this phone. Screen is bright and ui seems fast. Camera is OK but I've seen better. Fp scanner would have been nice but not a have to for me right now. Under development option there's a unlock oem bootloader toggle. Not sure what's that about. It can't be that easy. Yeah the split grills at bottom are not too attractive but hey who really looks at your phone but you. It's not that big a deal to me. Sound is pretty good. Overall I'm happy.

So been away from XDA for a while but just picked up my Droid Turbo 2 and loving it so far... Nice solid build quality, solid reception, Ballistic material has a nice feel, cameras are typical moto in my opinion but good enough for my use... the front flash for the times when the gf wants a selfie is going to be a big plus... overall very pleased so far... looking forward to more time with this device....
Also OEM (bootloader unlocking) has a toggle under developer options so maybe it wont be so locked down...

Just ordered my Turbo2.
Considering I was able to get the trade-in promo of $300 value for my existing Turbo, and use account upgrade on the new Turbo2, I'm actually coming out ahead. Wow.
Awesomeness.

Is this guys take on the Nexus correct?

http://www.thetechblock.com/articles/2012/an-androids-users-take-on-the-galaxy-nexus/
Today I jumped ship from Sprint and purchased 3 Nexus and 2 Thunderbolts from Verizon. I've been checking out reviews and I was just wondering how you guys feel about this phone. From what I've seen it looks amazing and most likely, I'll be extremely happy with the device (coming from an HTC Evo 3D). But wanted to see if he is correct on any of the negative points he made.
Appreciate any feedback in general about what you do, don't like about the device.
I got the Thunderbolts because those two are for older employees and they could barely get used to Honeycomb they use now. Also, They wouldn't allow me to get more than 3 Nexus' and the Thunderbolts were free.
My only question is why did you buy 2 Thunderbolts? Lol

I was thinking the exact same thing lol, the thunderblunder whhyyyyy? Hope he can still return them.

Are you happy with your phones? I think that's all that matters. I could find a bunch of reviews praising the heck out of the nexus but would it change if you like it, idk. I'd say give it a week and see if you like it. Don't base it on some tech writer from a site that quite frankly I've never heard of and I frequent quite a few. The nice thing about the Gnex which I have and love is you can customize the heck out of it, if there's something you don't like there's probably a way to change it and you won't find better community support for any other phone period.
If you don't mind my saying, if your still within the return period I would be a lot more concerned about those thunderbolts.
Read the review and didn't really agree with a lot of the points.
First off the volume is fine, the problem is is that if your hand is covering the speaker it can dim very quickly so make sure to keep your hand away from the bottom while watching videos.
The phone to me feels solid. I owned a Thunderbolt before this and a Droid 2 before that so I have been with 3 of the 4 major manufacturers (LG being the last, if you can take them seriously) and to me this phone feels the best. It just works in my hand and feels good.
The screen size is a "tiny" issue to me, the only problem is trying to reach the notification bar which can be done moderately easy with one hand but most of the time I realize that I have two.
The camera on this phone is what you should expect from a camera on a phone. The fact that this guy is saying he is a photographer but uses phone camera's makes his take on the Nexus's camera seem unreliable. A phones camera is for quick shots when something comes up unexpected, if you are a photographer go buy a dedicated camera.
I am not saying that this phone is perfect but this guys review is a lot of garbage and sounds like he is just trying to find reasons to stick with his Incredible.

If you're coming from other Samsung devices, the Nexus One or Nexus S then the Volume is on par with those devices. If you are coming from one of Motorola's beastly loudspeaker devices (Droid 2 for example) then it's a significant difference.

Ha! Those two are for older employees and they could barely get used to Honeycomb, so getting two more Nexus' would be a waste, not to mention, they wouldn't allow me to get more than 3 Nexus' haha.
Left Sprint 2 days ago and came to Verizon and picked up the GN. Was using an E4GT and before that an EVO 3D. The E4GT blew the EVO out of the water in my opinion so that phone is pretty irrelevant. The GN is most definitly better then the washed out screen, bad build, light leakage that the EVO 3D brings.
Now comparing it to the E4GT it is a closer battle but the GN has some cool things going for it that are not making me miss my E4GT to much.
Although battery life is looking pretty bad on this thing but I only have 1 day to judge that and will need some more time...
As others have said, return that thunderbolt ASAP!!! That is just a way failed version of the EVO 4G. You need to stay away from that device...

Just makes me laugh at all these reviews saying you have to use two hands like it's some new concept. I know it isn't always the most convenient thing, but then again why would you buy a phone this big if you were worried about it in the first place? I personally first looked at this phone for it's large screen (ICS was a close second) and I knew that for the most part it was going to be a 2 hander.

I haven't gotten the phones yet so haven't taken it for a spin. The sound part he mentioned bothered me. The Thunderbolts are for non power users, the Nexus' are for power users, they could care less what they have. They really want flip phones and I told them it's out of the question! haha

Half of my friends have iphones and guess what...........they hold it in portrait mode with 2 hands and type with their thumbs lol. Not to mention they are probably complaining about the nexus screen size being too big as they are trying to mash their thumbs into the little keyboard........they crack me up, think ill take video next time i see them
on another note im actually surprised how much i use my Gnex in portrait with one hand, thought it would be a two hander for sure but it's big enough that portait is actually usable for me and i guess my hand is the perfect size for it
The "build quality" thing is so old and stupid to me at this point. There are dozens of drop tests that show plastic Samsung phones taking a beating like a champ while "metal" phones end up shattering, getting sharp edges, etc upon impact. Yet "metal" is "better" and plastic is "cheap". It makes no sense.
"Oh, the phone feels more solid with metal so it must be"
"Have you seen what happens when you drop a metal phone and what happens when you drop a plastic one? The plastic holds up better."
"Yeah, but metal feels more solid."
I've run out of hands to facepalm with.
Also, if I remember correctly, my GNex weighs over 6oz's with the extended battery. That's HEAVY. It's "solid" so again I don't get it. I also see people complain about "feel" and how their metal phone is clearly more solid just on "feel" alone and it's wrapped in a gel skin. Super Fail
That said, that "review" is merely his opinions, and he's entitled to them. I think the device is perfect for me, and if it's perfect for you then that's all that matters.

I figured that guy's opinion piece was full of ****. I appreciate the feedback and am pumped to try this phone out!
How dare he talk down on the best Android phone ever!
When I first got my Gnex the sound wasn't very loud. That was when it was stock, which lasted about 15 min. Now I'm unlocked, rooted, rommed, themed, the works, I think the volume issue went away with a custom rom, I'm using gummy which you can get here in the development threads. If you like to customize your phones it shouldn't be an issue at all, I use speakerphone daily. If you like stock just get volume+ from the market which works really well. The thing about the nexus is if theres a problem xda will solve it, check out the hook while the dj revolves it. (cheesy i know, couldn't help myself lol)
Eh. Build quality wasn't magically mind blowing but he said felt good in the hand.
He comments on sound being low (?) but then says he tested in a quiet room and couldn't comment on it. To me the GNex is loud. It's not Galaxy Tab loud, but pretty loud. I keep volume about 50% and it's too loud in some cases. I'm sure you won't hear it if your at a rock concert but thats any phone.
He *****es about the Zero Shutter lag and says he'd rather have [email protected] Having a child, the Zero Shutter lag is awesome. Picture taking is awesome. The only downfall is that I pound the button and take a ton of pics, then pick the best one... BUT if I get lazy I'll find a ton of duplicates saved.
I guess when you have Zero shutter lag it's about just getting the picture fast, where when you have shutter lag, you actually take time to make sure its a good shot the first time... since you don't want to sit there and wait 5 minutes.
Other then that he seems to be having a fun time... except he concludes with underwhelming and unimpressive?! Just kinda jumps to it and doesn't explain why. Out of all the Android Phones out there... I can't see how he came to this conclusion. He obviously loves ICS and "can't wait to get it on a future device" and the screen "which delivers incredibly sharp images and text"....
Obviously he's never owned a Nexus (he compares to a Nexus S but doesn't say he owned one). G1>Incredible>Xoom>Galaxy Nexus
I'm not saying the Gnex is super amazing and blows your mind, but it is a top performing device that works wonderfully and literally has no hardware flaws outside of opinions.
The only thing that I think could make the Galaxy Nexus better would be a Quad-Core and a super beefy GPU just for bragging rights, but the Nexus doesn't need all that to still work flawlessly through anything you throw at it. I do hope that one day we can return to the "Nexus One" days where the Nexus introduced the next wave of smartphones. The Nexus S should have been Dual-Core and the Galaxy Nexus should have been quad. Google needs to sync up with their manufactures and try to align their dates to get back in the groove with the latest tech trend.
Since Samsung took over, it feels like the Nexus is being released on hardware that is at the end of its life and outdated within months. This shouldn't be. The Nexus should be the benchmark that all other phones have to rise against.
Another negative I just discovered, the vibrate on the phone is extremely weak. You can barely feel it if you have it on your belt...
Anyone know if this can be fixed with software?
I think the guy's complaints boil down to 3 points.
1. The speaker sound is too low.
2. The camera is sub-par.
3. The build quality is cheap.
I think the first 2 points are fair enough. The speaker sound is a bit low but the problem is easily remedied by installing Volume +. The camera is not great compared to other current gen phones but it is still pretty decent, and like others have said a photographer worth his salt wouldn't be using a phone to take picture seriously anyway.
The last point is completely ridiculous. There's nothing wrong with plastic body phones if they are built properly, which the Nexus definitely is. I guess some people just like carrying around dead weight...

Buyer's Remorse, is Droid Turbo 2 worth it???

I got to be honest, I may suck up the $35 and return this puppy. So far it just hasn't wowed me enough to be worth the $720 (for the 64GB). It doesn't seem faster than my Droid Turbo 1, and the camera is faster at taking pics, but the pics aren't better. The battery life seems about the same. I am not a fan of the size of it. Octa-Core SchMocta-Core is what I say..lol. I do like the design, but again the additional size takes away from that IMO. I went to the DT1 bc of the smaller size coming from a Note 3. I feel like I've gone back up to a Note 3 in size and that is not what I wanted. And it's loaded with games I don't want with additional apps I don't want either. smh. great 5MP front facing camera, though I don't often take selfies...
Also I'm getting complaints of people not hearing me or I sound like I'm breaking up. I'm not sure if it's the phone or the weather. We're having bad weather right now so I've been waiting to see if it clears up.
Can anyone convince me to keep this Turbo 2? It's not bad, but it's also not "much" better than the DT1.
The screen is better, has better white balance and slightly brighter. Battery is definitely longer lasting than DT1 (even though spec-wise it's smaller). Speakers are much louder and crisper sounding. Camera is much sharper, better white balance and the lens is better because corners are not as blurry as DT1. There is MicroSD slot. Front has 5mp with Flash. Screen has a user-replaceable top layer so when you decide to sell 1-2 years from now you can replace your scratched up screen with brand new layer from moto for $29 turning it into almost new phone. Overall design - much stronger casing, no more cracking noise when squeezing the phone. Charging is 13hrs in 15 mins vs 8hrs in 15mins, using 25W charger vs 15W. I had both phones side by side for several days. So I'm not sure in what respect DT2 is worse than DT1, it's basically better in every single aspect I can think of.
First it definitely takes better pics then the t1. It's faster taking pics as well my wife and daughter both have the t1. Now is it worth upgrading from the t1 no absolutely not. I don't know why you would waste your money. I didn't feel upgrading from the Maxx to the turbo was worth it. And that was a bigger upgrade in every way. It's only been a year take it back and wait until next year. I also don't understand you issue with size it is a hair larger that's all.

I love this phone but I'm coming from a lgg2. I'm my experience if you ain't happy now with it you won't be later. spend the 35 and get ya something that you will be happy with. When you spend that kind of money for something you need to completely happy.

I didn't say it was a worse phone at all. I simply said it didn't WOW me out of the box, and a couple days later, I'm still not wowed sadly. I disagree with the battery lasting longer though. My DT1 lasts quite awhile with the same type of usage as my DT2.
As for another phone, there is nothing out there that impresses me. I guess it goes to show how great a job Moto did with the DT1??

Is the Droid Turbo 2, Moto X Force in my case (i live in Europe) worth upgrading from the Nexus 5 (2013)?
Enviat des del meu Nexus 5 usant Tapatalk
Well, you're correct. It's a lot larger and that won't change. It was a real turn off for me. However, I find that since I can use this phone without a case, it is the same size in my front pocket as my Turbo 1 with a case. And, that was the real test for me. In the end, the rest of the spec improvements, including the SD card, are undeniable. So, I am satisfied with it. If it's too large for you, then you are probably smart to return it before your return window closes. Do I wish it was a 5" phone instead? Yes.
You can uninstall all those preloaded games. You can also go to settings-apps-all and disable all of the vzw bloatware so it is never run and you will never see it.
Have you turned off keep WiFi on when screen is off. Also have you switched to LTE/CDMA in settings? These two changes alone have tripled my battery life.

After several days of playing with the Turbo2 non-stop, I'm being hit with buyers remorse. Very close to sending it back
No doubt its performance is superb. The camera is great, the turbo charging and battery life are awesome, and there is so so much to love about this phone.
But I cant get over the following issues:
1) Bezels... too big, but the bottom bezel is a disaster. It's huge. It makes holding the phone awkward for me. And I find myself constantly hitting the check-mark to try and go home.
2) Display. Its not horrible by any means. But it definitely does look "sunk-in" due to all the layers. This wouldn't be a deal-breaker on its own, but its still something that has managed to irk me since I got the phone.
3) I already have the Original Turbo... and that still performs great. Outside of the improved camera, this just isnt turning out to be as big of an upgrade as I had hoped. Testing the phones side by side on nearly ever app I use (note: I do NOT use my phone for gaming), I just dont see any meaningful increase in speed or responsiveness.
I think if I was coming from any 2013-generation phone, I would be have a very different point of reference. But having last years Turbo, I think I will end up being content to hold onto it longer, until something which is a more significant upgrade comes along.

Although I do not have the same issues you have with the device, I do agree on most points. My DT1 still does awesome. That was such a groundbreaking device for motorola to put out, unfortunately I don't think they did nearly as good a job marketing it as they are doing the the shatterproof shield DT2. I went to the V store today and saw like 4 people picking up the DT2. Made me clutch mine a little closer to my body..lol and it made me feel awesome bc I got mine thru design your own and I get a free refresh cause I got the 64GB phone
try doing this to a first gen turbo.....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWHrOuyLrrU&feature=youtu.be
I think they could have made some incremental improvements to the DT1, and been successful without the shatter proof screen. The only problems I had with the DT1 were the capacitive buttons, poor speaker volume, lack of SD card, and the chin portion of the plastic housing. It is otherwise an excellent device.

I think everyone is aware of the shatter proof screen. The commercials are on TV ad infinitum. There's more to buying a phone then how difficult it is to break the screen.

Two things that are most annoying about this device are
1. People constantly complaining about the V logo..lol I wish it weren't there either, but it's not going away
2. People continuous posting or re-linking the shatterproof test video.... we've all seen it.

Was going to preorder LG G5 but will wait for M10 now

The value of the preorder for the LG G5 means you get $932 worth of equipment for $632. It was very tempting, but I don't want to preorder it and then wish I had waited for the M10. I really want the M10 to be top dog. Rumor is going around there is going to be a M10+ with a 5.5" screen but nothing about when or where it would be released. That's the one I'd rather have.
I'm waiting too.

Even if it still a rumor, I would stay away for the M10+ and buy the M10. If you look in the past, you'll see that the "+" variant never had good development compared to the non "+" one. Might not be an issue if you don't care about custom roms...

That tear down video is a plus for me. The phone is easy to repair! The only criticism he makes is the "lack of premium feel". Personally that is way down on my list of concerns. I am not looking to impress anyone with how great my phone looks and I doubt anyone gives a damn anyway. I look for the features I want first and foremost. I have to admit I was not happy with how thin the glass over the screen is on the other video. That does kind off suck but I don't think it is a deal breaker for me.
I have a G5 arriving tomorrow. The camera and the replaceabe battery are what sold me. The free extra battery and charge case and the free 360 degree camera made me jump on it. I will miss the wireless charging now I am accustomed to it and have charge plates sitting everywhere! I only wonder if I should hold off opening the box until I can find out more about the HTC 10 after it is released on the 12th. I
I believe LG is on to something-- a modular phone has been my geek dream since the birth of smartphones! However, I don't think the first generation "beta" of this feature is going to be where it's at. There are a couple WOW mods (Battery and camera) that are simply awesome, but otherwise this first iteration is just a really nice albeit average phone with some snap-in "meh."
If the M10 fails to impress, the G5 is probably what I'm going to get. I didn't pre-order the G5, so I won't be getting the package either way.
I pre-ordered the G5 as I wasn't convinced of the HTC 2016 flagship a month ago.
However my pre-order for the G5 has now been delayed to the 22nd April and as a result I've been following the build up and now really liking the look of the HTC 10.
If it has a 5.1 inch or bigger LCD (not AMOLED), SD 820, 4GB RAM, I think I'll cancel my G5 and get this. I'd want the black face though, either with silver back or black back, I don't like the white fronted version in the leaks....
Time will tell tomorrow.
The G5 is a flop. Most of the reviews say it's half baked and pretty lackluster. The only good thing anyone has to say about it is that the camera is good.
I am currently using the S7 Edge but I have one more Jump until June. (I am on T-Mobile's Jump on Demand program which gives me 3 upgrades a year). I was going to maybe move to the G5 or the HTC 10 since I wasn't all that impressed with the S7E. After the major update T-Mobile pushed out for the S7E last week, my mind changed and I am now extremely impressed with the S7E. The battery lasts forever and the touchscreen is no longer overly sensitive.
That being said, I will wait to see what the HTC 10 brings. I love the look of the phone and I like Sense more than TW. The only thing I wish it had was a larger display but I can live with 5.2".
At the end of the day, the G5 is already crossed off the list. I played around with one in the store and was totally unimpressed. It felt like crap in my hand. The chamfered edges are too sharp and feel uncomfortable while I'm gaming in horizontal view. The display is also very average. Not impressed one bit. I wouldn't call it bad but it wasn't what I'd expect from LG. When it comes to looks, I know it comes down to personal preference but damn the G5 us fugly. When you hold a S7E next to it, you can just see that the S7E is on a whole nother level when it comes to sleekness. Everything wasn't bad for the G5 though. The UI felt snappy and I didn't notice and lag/jitters.
I like the look and feel of the G5. I think all the phones pretty much look the same and I really don't care that much about it anyone. I don't think anyone is getting laid because their phone is so impressive. I have been wanting a wide angle shooter on a phone for years...awesome! I have always carried spare batteries. I can always go from 10% to 100% in seconds.....also awesome!
Sent from my K00C using Tapatalk
LG g5 is DOA. I'm returning mine. Better competition. The build quality alone isn't very good as that gap between the module and Chassis is frustrating. Moreover, the camera isn't as good as the S7 Edge.
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
I've cancelled my g5 order. It getting delayed was definitely meant to be as I've ordered the htc 10 for only £13 more
After seeing the HTC 10 today it's looking very promising. Much better than the G5.
What do you mean by better? The finish and feel might be slicker but that is not my main concern. I will miss the wireless charging on my S3 but the 10 doesn't have that either. The replaceable battery and wide angle shooter are what makes me want the G5. No matter how great the phone looks it ain't much good if the battery craps out on you at 2AM and you are not at home! Zero to 100% in seconds will always be a winner for me. I always carry a spare battery. No matter how strong the battery life of the S7 is it will not be as good in a year! The fee charge cradle, spare battery, and 360 camera cinched it for me (I see the T-mo offer on the 360 cam had been extended so you can still get it).
Did you see the breakdown review on juryrigeverythind.com (I think that is it)? The G5 will be very easy to repair. That makes up for a little sloppiness in built to me, as long as everything works ok from the start. I think they all look like cell phones. If you want to look cool get some new clothes, nobody is looking at your phone and judging you on it!
None of the reviews fault the G5 on performance, it is a beast. Most of the reviewers discount the friends module aspect of the phone because there are not many now and it is questionable what will develop. Still, the idea that I might get surprised with some cool new module feature is a plus for me. Who doesn't get a little bored with the phone after a couple years? I think the G5 is getting unfair treatment by a lot of reviewers.

The big cross against G5 is the locked (or unlocked custom as seen on Tmobile variant) bootloader. That's a big one for me. I was looking at G5 and gave up on it because of that.
As for battery, I just carry a 10k slab and charge up my phone using that if I am not next to a wall or laptop or pc. Who wants to reboot the phone for a replaceable battery! So, I will likely not use that unique feature of G5 ever.
Going to wait and see what this feels like in hand, coming from 5.5 and up phones I don't want this to feel tiny in my hands.

I've had my G5 for 2 days now. Build is good- the modular piece seams nicely, feels good in hand. Tested for light bleed- minimal bleed on top and only noticeable in darkened room with test app, very accceptable. I read about someone having a proble with the audio jack- mine is very tight. Someone said they had hissing sound with BT- mine is great with my jawbone and my car unit. Battery time is ok, maybe not great, I tend to be a heavy user. Quick charge is very fast, about 1% per minute. I look forward to receiving the spare battery, unlike previous poster I do not mind rebooting my phone, especially if I can go from 15% ot 100% in 30 seconds! Camera is very good, lover the wide angle. It seems that the metering only has center weight and matrix which disappoints but I may not be understanding the interface, need to find a manual, phone only comes with a quick start guide so I guess I can download from LG. Overall I am very happy. Can't wait to play around with promo 360 camera when it arrives!

HTC 10 Build quality. First Impressions. Over all love!!

HTC 10 owners speak up! How great is your 10 let everyone know how well yours is built and holding up. Also your first impressions, the knock your socks off experience unfortunately mine shipped while I was on vacation and is sitting at home waiting on me. Will report on Monday when I get home! Can't wait!
From the 7-ish hours I've had mine, it has 100% completely lived up to the hype and has been an enormous upgrade from my One m9. I have absolutely zero build quality, screen, or performance issues. The camera is miles ahead of the m9's and I can't wait for the 1.30 software update to hit my phone which will make it even better. Also, one thing that really stood out is just how fast and accurate the fingerprint scanner is. The capacitive button idea is simply perfect for a fingerprint scanner. There's no way I can go back to a phone without a fingerprint scanner now.
My absolute biggest complaint (if you can call it that) is the position of the headphone jack. I've gotten used to having it on the bottom of the phone which fits best with my personal usage since I place a phone top-down in my pocket. I'm not sure this even qualifies as a problem and I know I'll get used to it quickly.

Yes also I had the 6p, I found it too big and clunky. I currently have the Lumia 950xl. While it is also a 5.7" screen, it is quite a bit smaller and lighter than the 6p. I also really did not like the camera strip at the back. Just could not get used to that at all.
I came from the shamu to the 6p so the screen size didn't bother me, and the phenomenal camera on the 6p made up for the ugly glass strip. Overall I'm extremely happy with the 6p but I have always been an HTC fan,(I of course had the M9 and A9 both in between, but both had their limitations) so I'm really really anxious to try a more pure stock sense experience coupled with very promising hardware!!
How is the notification sound for you guys? Idk if it is my unit, or its me, or they are all in general like that but the notification sound is kinda muffled

The HTC 10 feel a whole lot more solid and heftier. The fit and finish just feels nicer, no mismatching plastics or pieces that aren't flush, there is no black plastic "ring" around the screen that dents and comes off easily, button feel more solid
I used to be diehard pure Android only and have tried different skins over the years, even stuff like PA or some other custom wrong. But I'm finding myself liking sense a lot. Hated the previous version on my One S. I am itching to root just so I can block ads...
the way i would describe it is real metal especially compared to the A9 and X9 (which has thin metal like the iPhone)
the 10 is simply steel and glass, with no plastics in your sight (except the hidden strips)
overall a screaming premium feel, my TPU case is killing the whole aura so i am really anxious for my Spigen ExactFit to arrive, also the Fitbag black rave pouch looks amazingly classy with it
My eyesight isn't what it used to be so I've been using phablets - Note 2, Note 4, Moto X Pure Edition - and I was a little worried about the smaller screen size on the HTC 10. I've discovered, however, that it's very easy for me to read the HTC 10 screen. I prefer Sense over TouchWiz, but I've been spoiled by the flexibility of Nova Prime and I installed it on my HTC 10 after about an hour. So far, I'm very pleased with the HTC 10. I'll know more after I've used it for a week or two.

I'm hard of hearing but I can easily hear the notification sound on my HTC 10, even without my hearing aids.
I got mine yesterday (so far I love it) and I just now noticed there is a slight gap between the top of the screen and the frame. Has anyone else noticed this?
OK after having phone a solid 8 hours with 80% of my apps installed compared to Samsung S7 Edge is a mini review:
Nice build quality, slightly smaller screen, cleaner UI but with some idiosyncrasies, very good sound, type-C connector.
I am finding the more apps I install the slower the phone is becoming with some lag and stutter, the camera is quite good but Edge is better overall especially in low light, Edge is blazing fast despite touch wiz, Edge screen is gorgeous and battery life is probably better but will withhold judgement on HTC 10 for a day or two.
Overall a very good phone but not enough to best the Edge. Marketing will be an issue for this phone and may be difficult for buyers to justify at same price point if the preorder $100 discount is not available.
The wow factor is almost there IMHO.
Will keep testing with an open mind.

I was rocking Jay Birds that are extremely loud and seal your ear cavity and get uncomfortable after an hour of use. Compared to those, not heavy bass but good clean sound, loud enough but no Jay Birds. Solid connection to ear but light comfortable feel. You can hear outside sounds well when nothing is playing. I really like them m

I have had mine for a days- I was surprised how comfortable they were once I figured out the loop and how good they sound, particularly the Bass. I was not really expecting great sound, but these are some of the best "buds" I have heard, though I normally use over the ear. Translate is really cool too.
I did have trouble getting them paired at first but now they are good

How's the bass with these things? been thinking of getting them but not trying to waste my time if the bass isn't there.
Finally got my shipped notice for mine ordered back on 10/5 (Black).... So, hope to see them Monday !
Had them about a week or so. Dynamic range and clarity are actually pretty decent (low to high); I'm not an audiophile, but I am pretty finicky relative to sound quality.
I have been using Sennheiser in-ear-canal type buds for several years (similar price range to these - $150). I find the Pixel buds comparable for sound quality, except for lack of noise isolation, but knew that going in.
Volume is good, even a bit LOUD at max range. I've read reports that people can hear what's playing on your Pixel Buds, so that might be an issue, say on an airplane.
My only complaint is the too coarse volume adjustment via swiping. Pixel 2 XL provides 25 increments, 0% to 100%. The Pixels buds only provide 7-8 increments. Way too coarse, resulting in a too loud or too soft result. I suspect this might be fixable in software (?). EDIT: I can press the right bud say "75% Volume" (even just "75%" will do it after an initial request), so maybe a good compromise.
My only other complaint is lack of a swipe gesture to switch tracks. I can press the right bud and say "skip" (even softly) to get the desired action, but I would prefer to simply swipe UP or DOWN to get this result. I've read this was the intended function, but might have been confusing for users compared with in-out volume gestures, and was disabled. I do like being able to say, "Thumbs Down" and Play Music will tag that song and skip to the next track.
Comfort for me has been good. The rope between the left and right buds is perfect. I'd surely lose them if not attached!
I dont understand why volume gesture couldnt be made to be up/down and track forward/back be swipe forward/back.
Appears there may be an issue with the Google Assistant not working on the Buds. Several Google forums are having this issue, as well as me. The Buds drop connection after 1-2 minutes and then have to be forgotten from the Pixel XL 2, in my case, then repaired. Once repaired the situation repeats itself. Contacted Google and they've heard of this issue. Supposed possible update comming but looks like they are RMA'ing the Buds. If you haven't used them in a while might want to check it out to see if you are having same issues.
