Choosing between ROMs for nexus 5x. Coming from OPO - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm coming from the OPO and I've used CM13 and derivatives on that device, mainly because of the better battery life and other optimizations.
Do you guys recommend any good clean ROMs for the 5x? I'm looking at CM13 and OmniROM, are these roms stable and do they have a good battery life? Would the battery life be better than the stock rom?
Thanks a lot in advance

Then choose CM13 from jgcaap. Jgcaap also build CM13 for OPO.

I would recommend Pure Nexus/Krexus + franco kernel combo for Speed, Stability and Optimal number of features.
ON contrary, if you need features, Dirty Unicorns and Tesla have quite a large feature set.

Nothing can beat the stock ROM =)
Install xposed for extra features, completely stable now.

[Rom]Mokee 5.1.1 Rom experiences

There's a lot of AOSP rom on the internet, but the most rom looks the same for me. I don't see too much difference between CM based roms and I have really bad battery life.
Than I tried Mokee 5.1.1 (MK51.1-d855-150609-RELEASE.zip) and I'm surprised. With this rom I have the same (or close to same) battery life like stock rom (V20P).
Only one little thing is bother me. The antutu benchmark ponts is only around 38k but I can reach 40k with stock and 42k with BlissPop.
Any idea how can I increase the performance in Mokee? I really hate the laggy navigation in stock rom and I hate the overheating AOSP roms too, so this one is my only hope.

I also enjoyed Mokee and was disappointed in antutu score so would also be interested in recommendations AICP is also good AOSP rom with many features that you may enjoy if you have not already tested

Thanks for the tip. I'm currently testing it and I think I like it, but I got less score in antutu than mokee.
I'm trying to optimize it.
Another question:
is possible to change the double tap delay? my phone was always unlocked in my pocket.

Phoenix Aosp Extended or Sultan's LineageOS 14.1

For anyone who's used both, which had the better performance, stability, features and battery?

For features you are right.
But for battery life and stability I suppose Sultanxda LineAge is better.

For stability and bettry life SultanXDA is best one.:angel:
Phoenix is better I feel. It's snappier and has a good battery. Plus the camera oxygen is good as well

Have you really compared that? Perhaps performance is a little bit better because of underclocking of sultanxda's version. But battery life and camera should be better with sultanxda lineage. But I haven't compared it, I only saw excellent reviews for sultanxda lineage.
i didnt try sultans, but i try phoenix and i have a little lag.The paranoid is very fast and smooth but with no features, is like stock. For battery the best choice is the pure android rom but the lag is too much. The best way for me is stock with custom kernel and AKT mode, but for me, ringtone and notification sound link is a deal breaker. The most stupid feature i have ever seen.

Best stable ROM

I don't have time to test every single rom so I want to ask the people on here what they think is the most stable rom. I don't really care about features I just wanna know which one has the best battery life, less bugs etc.

Yes stock was ok but I am asking for the custom ROMs
I settled on SAOSP after many weeks of testing many different ROMs. Seems best to me, combined with EX kernel
ABC-Rom, no bugs, stock feeling:

paranoidandroid ROM is awesome!
PureNexus or PixelROM
You could also look at Carbon Rom or Tesla (other GZR Roms are available ) or AospExtended or Slim
Then you have the Lineage based ones such as crDroid
I prefer the ones which are true to the Nexus look rather than Pixel Wannabes. But that's the beauty of the old Nexus phones that it very much whatever floats your boat.
@tactical bacon: that's, why 'best rom'-threads are unwanted here. Finally you get a complete list of all settled ROM.
Features and base are given in each OP. Battery-life depends on your usage.
PureNexus. Great team, solid ROM, nice features, quick updates, and very helpful thread.

Few questions...

Would you recommend updating from marshmello to nougat? Does it affect performance badly? Would you recommend a custom rom for the device?
Yes, Nougat is way better than Marshmallow, it does improve performance, stability you may or mayn't notice it. It's based on how you use your phone. For CustomROMs I personally maintain and use CarbonROM, some other good alternatives include Pure Nexus, Dirty Unicorns, SAOSP.

Best AOSP ROM as of now?

I'm not a big MIUI fan but until the initial 72 hours go by I'm stuck with it... However that doesn't stop me from looking into all kind of AOSP ROMs.
I know that I'll have to test and try them all myself, but I'm curious what all of you are using and why.
My biggest focus is definitely battery life (screen time more so than standby) and I'd love it if any of you could give me numbers on this as well.

Resurrection remix, OmniROM, and LineageOS all share code trees. The differences between them should rally just be the minor feature set differences. I personally use LineageOS, but that is just because I like Lineage.
RR from Arasthel is awesome, just very very bad battery life.
OmiRom, not as smooth as MIUI, but better battery life than RR (but slightly less than MIUI)

Funny you mention smoothness compared to MIUI.
I find MIUI to be a laggy mess.
So.. it seems Omni is the place to be for battery life?

They're all pretty much the same, Battery life is subjective.

is your device full or has 100 apps running at the background? Miui is very very smooth. If your phone is clean then something wrong is going on with your miui. Some people complained for problems after ota update. A clean install solve the problem.
To add to what @papavales is saying, check what apps have autostart enabled. Great feature from MIUI that gives you great control over resource hungry apps.
I've swtiched from MIUI to Omni weekly builds and Im surprised how good this ROM is. I find xiaomi.eu laggy like hell last time...

Had some time to run the battery through its paces yet? Debating on whether I should go with official or unofficial builds here.
Official would mean hassle-free OTA, but unofficial (judging from the changelog) seems to be better tweaked for our device?

In my opinion WEEKLY are better, but thats mine. More stable and in my example more smooth (?)
I've settled for unofficial lineage os for the time being (now that I'm unlocked I need to try them all) and I'm just so happy to be back on AOSP after being forced to endure MIUI for three days waiting on the unlock permission...
The recent screen and notification shade on that thing just kill it for me.
Back in MIUI 4 and 5 they still rocked more or less clean versions of these but everything that came after just ruined it for me.
