Download failed - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Switched from purity latest back to pure nexus latest. Formatted everything to have a fresh start. Now I can't download anything through chrome. Re installed chrome didn't do anything. Re flashing didn't do anything. My market still downloads. Anyone have any ideas? I just get "download failed due to unknown failure". My permissions are good.

Check Chrome has permissions for storage?

Gmail.apk

Hello pplz. I installed CM 7 mod over the weekend. All went well except for the gapps. I downloaded the gapps from the provided link and flashed it using recovery. But gmail, market and goggle maps failed to install. And they were also not be shown in the market. I searched the net and found the apks of all. Market and maps were installed successfully and gmail gives the error of application not installed.
Then using root explorer I copy the gmail.apk to the system folder n still smell problem.
Please tell me a way to install Gmail
Apk.
Thanks

Were you using a different ROM before? And if so did you wipe before installing CM7?

yes did both the things
Check the permissions and you need to be s-off if using root explorer.

That is strange then. Personally, I successfully installed CM7 and then (during the same session within recovery) Google apps and had no problems whatsoever.
What kind of error message did you receive when flashing Google apps in recovery? Did you confirm that checksum of the Google appps file was correct?
And are you sure you downloaded this file:

And no some other by a mistake?

Unsuccessful File Downloads [SOLVED]

Every time I download ANY file (.zip .apk .rar etc...) from my phone, it comes up 'FAILED'. It will start the download fine and even download it to 99% but after that, it fails.
Anyone else having this problem? I have unknown sources box checked. Still no luck.
I'm rooted running AOKP 26 with Trinity aelp kernel.

Try clearing the download manager data, someone posted this before and I believe that was the fix

Hope that works since I have this problem a lot. I thought it just depended on the site you download from.

Didn't work for me. By clearing, what do you mean?

It happens to me to. I keep clicking the link and it finally does it right. But I'm not downloading very large files. That would be frustrating to go to 99% and then drop.

No... not deleting Downloads on SD card. Just deleting the "cached" downloads in the Downloads app. So that when you enter your Downloads app it says "No Downloads." Downloads and Download Manager are right next to each other in Manage Apps. Just clear data for both.
Usually dolphin browser handels downloads better.
Every time this happens to me I download Dolphin Browser and download it via that browser and then when its done, I uninstall dolphin

Mail app vanished!

Hopefully someone can help me out. This morning when I turned on my phone and tried to open mail it said "this app is not installed." So I rebooted and got the same error. I went into the system and saw that GoogleMail.apk was still there, so I tried to install it and it got to the "install" button but then would not install. Then I tried to copy the apk out of the system folder to the sdcard and same thing, gave me the install button but would not install. In frustration, I backed up my data and factory reset the phone. Still no mail app!
I'm on version 4.2.1 stock.
I can only guess my mail apk is corrupt or something, but I have no idea how to get it back. Any thoughts, suggestions, fixes?

Weird issue, are you rooted? If so try removing with titanium and flash stock gapps. If not rooted work around could be to DL and use the gmail app?

Just a guess, you flashed the a2z right after you flash rom and gapps. You might want to try booting up, signing into your gmail account, then flashing in your a2z zip. I haven't used that in a while, but I think I had this same issue.
If that doesn't work try clear data/cache for Google Play Services.

This is exactly what had happened to me. You fix this by going to data/data then find the folder called scd.app2zip. Delete that folder. Then reboot. Reinstall the app and it should work

Since there is no external sd card for my Nexus 7, how did you get this to work on the Nexus?

SD Card and XDA app trouble

So here are the problems. ...
1) I have the XDA Premium app and when I open it, it says "Connecting to server.." and it won't load. I tried clearing the cache and even uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Still the same problem and I can't find a solution.
2) I am trying to download a .zip file from Chrome (I have done it before) and when I click on the link it says "No SD Card". I can still access my pictures and music and everything else.
With both of these issues I will add that I recently did a full factory reset and took a wrong turn somewhere. My phone would sit in the Samsung Galaxy S4 loading screen and for some reason TWRP wouldn't show my backup file on my SD Card until a few hours later, with trying to find my stock carrier file, my file randomly found my backup. I installed the backup, everything was good, but now I have these problems. It's probably nothing big, but it will be greatly appreciated if I can fix this.
Thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:
Sounds like you need to Odin to stock again.
