Instagram!

Instagram was released for Android today. Go ahead and find it in the Google Play Store. However, the app crashes when I go to take a pic with the app. I'm running Calk's 1.3a.
I've found a workaround (Camera Settings -> Uncheck 'Use Instagram's Advanced Camera) but I believe that totally defeats the purpose of the app in some way.
Anyone else having problems with the app?

Works great on CodeName... Runs smooth as butter actually... I dunno how often I'll use it, but I'll certainly try it out!

I'm on Blazer. When I select a photo from the gallery it says, "Photo too small." When I try to use the stock camera I get "Unknown error."
I haven't even seen it offer the option of using an Instagram camera.

On the profile tab, top right corner... click the settings icon. Then you should see Camera Settings as an option.

Weird! Stock camera doesn't work but Instagram camera works perfectly.

[Q] MMS camera app choices? Only stock?

Well, this is embarrassing.
Something I just found interesting about (what I assume is) a TW limitation?
When I want to take a picture to attach to an SMS, or attach an old picture to an SMS, I seem to only have the choices of the stock cam and stock gallery apps.
I thought that perhaps I had inadvertently set a default in the first day of ownership (although I don't remember doing so, and I am fastidious about these things), but there were no defaults to clear, either in the MSGing app, or the cam app.
While I find being forced to use the stock gallery for attachment annoying (I like QuickPic far better, for several reasons), not the end of the world.
But I use Vignette almost exclusively for taking pics, and having to close txt app > open vignette > take pic > close vignette > (wait for pic to process) > open txting > attach pic... P.I.T.A.
Am I missing something obvious? It's been quite some time since I used TW stock for any period of time. (On my E4GT I used anything but TW for the last 6 months of ownership...) But even then I still seem to remember TW offering me a choice of installed cams for attachments. Is this a Note II "thing"? Or something in the newer iterations of TW?

There are no defaults to clear in the cam, gallery or messenger. I am literally forced to use the stock cam in attaching a pic to a msg.
Can someone confirm that this is the case on stock for them as well?
Or perhaps confirm that on a different rom its Not the case?

I downloaded the quick pic and I get no option to use it when picking a picture from the messaging app. Maybe contact the developer about it.
Edit: actually it might be how the phone software is meant to handle attachments. I installed another gallery app and it doesn't show up either.

thanks, if you're on stock, than I consider the issue confirmed. for stock at least. with gallery.
anyone on any other ROMs can confirm?
(I already assume that anything AOSP does not have the issue, but I am wondering if any TW base ROMs have tweaked something that would allow for other apps to be used as either defaults.)

I've only had the option to use stock camera/gallery on TW.

When choosing to add an attachment if you choose take picture it defaults to the stock camera. But when u chose to attach an image and click on the stock images symbol you get options to choose from different apps. And quickpic pops up fine for me. Just downloaded it since above poster mentioned it.

thanks for that! would never have found that, counter-intuitive! (also, I tend not to attach many images from the gallery, usually take them on the spot.)
(found another cool little thing, if you long press any icon in the attachments menu, takes you to the app properties...)
still hoping to find a way to use a better/different camera app in attachments though. hrm. far more important.

What I hate is when browsing the gallery if you have your dropbox synced to it you don't have an option to share. However I do for my Facebook pictures which is also an online service. So in order to share I have to go to the messaging app and click attach from the dropbox in the attach photo selection I posted above. If you attach directly from dropbox it created a link to visit instead but if you use it from the massaging app it loads up the photo.

[Q] desire eye camera app bug

Today 's application of the Camera of My eye was going to make me angry ..... opening the Camera Saw What They disappeared All Other Options Besides That photo for the front and rear camera .
I tried to delete the data of the app and even a hard reset .
I solved only for the first start of the app ( after reset ) . But every now and then launching the camera directly from the gallery reappear other options (sometimes ) .I need help , could also serve to someone else

From my experience, i tried google now and i lost most of camera options, but if you use Blinkfeed as main home all options are back..seems camera is linked to Blinkfeed some how...take a look, use blinkfeed as home screen and try camera

I have the same problem but i don't use Google Now in home screen, i only use Blink Feed (Sense Home) any solution?

Sounds like when third party app starts camera it has limited functionality, it is common thing even on others manufactures devices...

Have you found any solution? I have the same problem with my htc desire eye

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a hardware issue. I think you'll have to bring it in for repair.

Follow these and tell me if it fixed anything:
1- go to Google play store and find htc speak app and uninstall it
2-delete data of camera app
3-set HTC Sense Home (blinkfeed) as default home
3-restart device
4-check camera and features
5-if all else fail flash another rom and check
6-even if still the issue persists then it's a hardware issue sorry my friend.
I've had camera issues too but steps 1-3 almost always fixed it. And Tbh htc makes great phones and htc desire eye is a solid phone I don't see how it's camera could be physically damaged.

VSCO is pretty good, but I usually just use the pixelmaster camera for quick pics.

A better camera

pixelmaster.tried camera 51,google camera but obviously asus know how to optimize it better than anybody else.besides phone is by asus.they know the hardware,they have to create a better software.camera is a shame right now

My Pixelmaster Camera app is crashing immediately and gives two error messages. The first one is "another app is using the camera.." and the second is "Camera failed to launch. please reboot and try again". Rebooting didn't help. I have tried other apps for camera like camera360 but didn't work. What could be the problem? My device is Zenfone2 64G.

Did you recently installed an app that have access to your camera? If you did install an app then use Auto Start Manager to block such app to start at your background if it doesn't work then try to uninstall that app.
If you did not installed any app that may use your camera then go for wipe cache memory from recovery mode and then try to access the camera.
If Camera is still not working then as a last hope Hard reset your phone from Recovery mode and then ADB Sideload the latest rom for your from here and then check your camera.
If still your camera is not working then there might be some hardware issue to be addressed by you nearer Asus Service Station.

It might also be that you uninstalled some default app that the camera needs.

Thank you guys. Yes I installed many apps including Clashot, Foap and Snapwire that are photo community apps, but I have multiple photo and camera apps on other devices with no conflict!! I disable all apps at boot. I uninstalled then reinstalled the original camera app. I installed camera360 but no chance. I uninstalled some google apps I don't need. I'm not sure if installing/uninstalling these app caused or the last system upgrade 5 days ago. I'm willing to try any solution since no Asus service station is available now in Syria. Thank you

I just did a factory reset .. Still can't use the camera!!

QuickPic app won't play videos

Have quickpic on my Mi a2 lite and it was working fine. Today I took some videos, thumbnails are visible but nothing happens when I press them, video simply doesn't play. I can play them through the Google photos app but not quickpic.... Any ideas why?

Maybe move to another gallery app, like Simple Gallery, then forget QuickPic?

As far as I know, QuickPic is regarded as being cursed by Cheetah Mobile and highly discouraged by most users. Old version may cause conflicts with Android Pie too such as feature compatibility.

I can say it's not the best out there (it's subjective), but it does the better job as a gallery app (at least for me and other users who use this app), it's simple to use and it's lightweight. And on top of that, it has no ads (since it's open source app).

Same here. Nothing to do with Pie update coz it's only just started not playing vids. I can open a file in Quicpic using Play with VLC in a drop down but that's a PITA. Wondering how I'd get the same folders that I've set up in a new app. I'll give it a go.

Ok,so its not just me so!!
Its a pity as I quite liked QuickPic. I take quite a few pictures and find I have to rotate some or all of them. In Quickpic,I could just select the ones I wanted to rotate and rotate together. Now with Simple Gallery I have to go into evry single photo and rotate individually....PITA,same with Google photos......Is there any other photo app that allows multi pic rotate?

Perfect. Installed the app and everything is there in folders that I'd previously created. Totally customizable too. Thanks for the link.

You using Simple Gallery?

Simple Gallery Pro. Cost a whopping 59 pence !
Check single or multiple photos and use Rotate from tbe drop down menu (top right) and select whichever version of rotate you want. Extremely customizable app. Great.

Honestly, it's the only reason I'm using it. I've disabled its internet access long ago.

Oh, the pro version. I was testing the free version. You're right the price was worth it even just for the finger rotate feature.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 plus (Vince), running aospextended android pie.
Tried reinstalling, didn't help..
