Hey. I saw that on Nexus 5 someone made bootloader themes, and the new Google Logo on boot. I guess that it isn't so hard to port it. So, can someone make this?
If there are any spelling mistakes, I apologise

No, this is not possible, that mod relies on the imgdata partition that the nexus 7 does not have, not a single nexus tablet has that partition.
So editing the bootloader isn't possible?

Editing the bootloader is definitely possible however, flashing a modified bootloader will not work because fastboot will not allow you to flash a bootloader that's not the same as the original and even if you managed to bypass this, qualcomm secure boot will block it too!
Thanks for info. Right now i am trying to edit the bootloader, and then pack it as a flashable ZIP.
Wish me luck!
There is no unbricking method for this device. A modified bootloader will brick it.

It's not worth it to modify the bootloader for something this simple. There is a very high risk of bricking the device.

I have added a batch file to automatically fastboot flash this under windows and restore your phone to stock.
turn the device on with both volume buttons held and enter fastboot mode. connect usb and execute flash-windows.bat (included) you may need to install samsung adb driver and boot unlock the device though (which you can find on this forum)
tested on my galaxy nexus and restored successfully.

Thanks OP worked great!
Why would you upload mirrors when Google themselves are hosting the files? Wouldn't it be more reliable to just download straight from Google?
Also, I'm assuming that they'll be updating the recovery images for each official update as well... Meaning your mirrors would be outdated soon anyway. Just a thought.
Thanks anyway though, these will come in useful!
Google's package is compressed in tgz and comes with sh script, also doesnt include fastboot windows.
I put all necessary utils together with a bat script so user can just double click and restore.

I'd prefer the Google Images untouched to be honest.
Guys, a little OT question, but I don't want to open a new thread just for a noobish question:
How could one actually brick the GNex? Is it possible to brick the GNex so serious that it won't even get recognized by fastboot?
If not, it's literally unbrickable. If yes, what would I need to do to brick my phone like that? Just wann know so I can NOT do it
will OTA updates works if i flash this image (assuming i've also cloclwork mod recovery)?

Since it's 100% Google image, I don't see why OTAs wouldn't work.

You could do what my idiot brother did to my Nexus S. Format /boot from Clockwork mod (under the storage options I believe) and then turn the phone off. The only way to unbrick it is to send it to Samsung, or the guy on XDA who runs that company that uses JTAG to fix it (which is what I did)

Why would that brick the device? Can't you still get into the bootloader or recovery and flash a new boot image?

Hello!
Is there a way to remove, or change, the warning splashscreen, the one after unlocking BL?

Hey there, not really sure, but this must be the right place to ask for some help..
Being a professional bugger, I have managed to accomplish the impossible... I think I have flashes 1 more Asus logo to my device. Now I got 1 warning, 2asus logos, and the rom logo.
Can someone share a method so I can remove them?

I’m not sure whatsapp you have done, but I can say that it should be normal. The first ASUS logo, I think, is loaded by the Google alert of a modified / unsigned system partition, and the second is loaded by the ASUS bootloader.
My Zenfone do it as well, but is not a question of flashing more than one splash screen, I’m sure.

Ahah thanks for the information, it must be as you say..
But, is there any way to remove them?
I think that it is possible to remove the warning, downgrading and upgrading all over again..
I have tried to remove the img files, but they come up again after reboot.
If there are commands to flash them, i think that there must be some sort of command to "unflash", or some file i could eddit, so the OS does not require to load them.
Hello,
I wanted to ask if there is a way to remove the unlocked bootloader message. I find this message very annoying and ugly. On my older OnePlus X there was a way to get rid of this message, so I thought that there might be a way on the OnePlus 5T.
Yes, simply re-lock the bootloader and it's gone.

No way. The price to pay for benefits of root...
I don't think you can do it unless you want to risk a hard brick.
On the phones I know of if it being eliminated its not actually eliminated, its just hidden. The message is replaced with an image of something else.
Here is an example utility (Nexus 5X)
Just looks like the boot image needs unpacked, modified, repacked, and flashed?
well, you can change it by flashing splash image... see in Moto G5s plus thread there is a solution....

No, it works differently in the OP5T. I don't think it's possible on our device. There's already a thread about this somewhere that explains it in more detail.

Yes because on the Moto this very message is a graphic in a separate partition. On the OP it's baked into the bootloader. Since this is the thing that's also signed with private keys etc., it's (as of today and someone else finds a way) impossible to change.

No they're not, not really. They're modifying dumps of the imgdata partition, which is flashed as part of the factory bootloader.img but it's not an actively run bootloader partition (like aboot, xbl, sbl, etc are), and so not verified the same on-device and can be changed without bricking the device.

What kind of question is this? I do not think there is a way to get a boot screen from another device unless you have the phone rooted, and then somehow get the boot animation from a Mate SE, and then replace the default boot animation with the Mate SE one.

I did not change it on mine, but just located to bootanimation.zip
it is in /version/special_cust/BND-L24/hw/usa/media/bootanimation.zip on the L24
each region/ model will have different path.
there is also a second animation located in
\version\region_comm\oversea\media
don't know when it is used . On mine, the one in the hw folder has "wwwhi.honor.us.com " on the bottom of all the images, and that matches the animation being used. The other one has larger images and no addresses on the images.
I'm also interested in this, since I already replaced my boot animation with one that has a dark background from here. The Mate SE logo screen is just the simple HUAWEI logo on a black background, which is less visually jarring (especially with the warning screen that's displayed after the bootloader is unlocked).
I understand that the boot logo on Huawei devices is stored in oeminfo.img, but I haven't figured out how to unpack/repack it for the hi6250 devices.

Follow and complain here.
Let ASUS know their bootloader implementation is VERY NOT FRIENDLY to us. I've been modding my Android devices since the Android 2 era and this is the first time I encountered an UNOFFICIALLY UNRECOVERABLE state which is a HORRIBLE experience.
Me? Have played with
Samsung(S5 to S9 and Tab/Odin is a good thing)
XiaomiRedmiPoco(Main device for me today, very modder friendly and robust)
Huawei(Remember when they allow applying for BL unlock?)
Apple(LOL jailbreak from A4 SoC until iPhone X(meantime Samsung S8 looks gorgeous) lost my interest)
And various small brands or exited market big brands(honorable mention Lenovo LePhone C101. My first smart device/Android and received big community support at the good old time)
ASUS. Fix your buggy BL. Fix your policy. Release everything we need to fix OUR DEVICES of OURSELVES. Just ONE step closer to perfect.
Just imagine how stupid is this:
Everytime you want to update you operating system, your UEFI/BIOS firmware might break.
And worse, that you don't have free official resources to fix it?
And can it be worse? Yes! Your Warranty is maybe void because you may unlocked bootloader, now supposedly only ASUS service center have the file to fix it.
Ha now it's interesting. That's the era of ANTITRUST. Even Apple won't do it(Worst case DFU, easily fixable using OFFICIAL iTunes).
WT*?
yeah dude i'm bricked up rn
Paid here, paid there.
Yeah sure.

Perhaps instead of ranting about asus, you could tell us what you have done exactly to brick your device, and someone might be able to help you ? can you get into fastboot at all?
EDIT: quoted content removed.
Never use this firmware, because it has not been modified, 100% of fingerprints and IMEI will be lost after use. You need to modify the firmware before you can flash it.

So just wondering, you went and grabbed some img files and made the decision to flash them, why is this any fault of asus?

1\ The fastboot code in their bootloader have bugs, any CORRECT command you type can easily break bootloader then stuck you in 9008.
2\ The normal update method failed because THEIR UPDATER did do things wrong.
3\ They refuse to provide official ROM to let yourself fix it. SEND IT TO ME TO FIX IT, AND I MIGHT CHARGE YOU SOME.
....\
N\ You go talk to Apple about it because they are experts about saying YOU USED IT WRONG.
Anyone asked for help gets it for free so far.
All devs on my chat group agree at least fastboot flashable should be available on the official download page.

If you can boot into fastboot you can just flash the RAW ROM file available a few days ago. It's not bricked in this case.
