HTC 10 Mirrorlink? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hi Everyone,
I was unable to find this information anywhere so I'm wondering if one of you can confirm if HTC 10 supports mirrorlink.
As far as I know, it uses that USB C version which supports video out so it won't be an impossible task to connect it to a mirrorlink/hdmi enabled car.

My question is related. Is anyone sure that it supports video out (to display port /hdmi/vga/dvi) adapters? Just because it lists USB-C, does that imply supporting all adapters?
2nd add-on question, would the mentioned adapters purchased with Micro-usb plugged work with USB-C to Microsoft adapters in between?

"Connectivity
NFC, BT 4.2, Wi-Fi®: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz), Display Port, Chromecast, DLNA™, AirPlay™, Miracast™"

Wow! Answered both our questions in one shot. Thanks
Now I just need to try display port function via micro-usb adapter. (Not so important though). USB-C to HDMI -ok-

And just to confirm, this is one of the apps I found in the system dump:
MirrorLink_MirrorLinkService

But miracast (mirroring your screen via wifi) is not equal to mirrorlink (mirroring the screen and receiving commands back via cable)!

Yes, I used it today in my car with my phone pioneer 3700dab. But there is no car mode!

If anyone finds a working HDMI adapter for 10, please post here. There are several on amazon but its always better if we know someone tried something and it worked. If I find it first, I will post it here.
PS: screen cast is horrendously pixelated over wifi IMO. Games play horribly. I want 1080p.

whats the performance over mirrorlink? for me seems very slow and looks frame refresh

Works fine in my new passat, watched a youtube video with no issues! Just annoying you cant use it while moving because i would love to use it for apps.
For info the mirror link setting is under wireless and networks > more > usb connection

my Pioneer SPH-DA120 lags when using ith H10 - but I suppose its radio issue not the phone

Peugeot 208.
MirrorLink detected and activated on the phone (which buggers up the bluetooth connection), however trying to use/select it either does nothing or displays "no mirrorlink apps detected".
Toggling it off just results in it switching itself back on 2 seconds later!
Anyone know how I can either get it to work (preferable), or disable it completely?!

Install Rock Scouts or Sygic Trial. Mine also shows screen vnc so I can do full screen mirroring.

What about DLNA?

I take it neither of the Desire Z or HD have capabilities to connect to a HDTV via a cable... but the Desire HD was shown to have DLNA compatibility.
does anyone know if the Desire Z will have DLNA compatibility out of the box??
Also would it be via Wifi? i.e if i had a HDTV with Wifi and DLNA compatibility - i wouldnt need anythin else?? (or even the ps3...)
i vaguely remember the Touch Pro, or TP2 having TV-Out, i dont exactly like the idea of being strapped to a tv via a cable, but anyone reckon a mod could be made to duplicate screens?
on a final note, there is an app on the market that claims to add DLNA compatibilty to your current android device - couldnt get it to work (didnt really try hard enough tbh)
According to the spec at http://www.htc.com/uk/product/desirez/specification.html (Multimedia section) , yes, the Desire Z has DLNA.
While waiting for my Desire Z to arrive...
I have an AZBox HD satellite received and can install something like ushare or something which basically (so they say) makes it DLNA capable.
EDIT: I've just read that my Qnap TS-219P Turbo NAS also had DLNA, and all my multimedia is stored on it.
How, in few words, would I be able to use this on my phone?
I know NOTHING about DLNA yet
htc's official promotional video says that it has it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtube_gdata_player&v=KUeW6-HTtSU
I'm running the desire HD rom and I have a pre-installed htc app called 'push media'. I lets you share photos, video and music via wifi
I can not find DNLA the specifications to the G2 but "z" has it.
so maybe it's better with a z then a G2
I'm surfing on youtube every day to see the latest news on the G2 and it appears that no one has 4gig memory it the same as the z 2gig
It can be the HTCSense, I want to put it on my G2
I belive there is also an HTC option for connecting it to HDTV with cable if the TV is not DLNA compatible.

I saw it briefly in the official HTC Desire Z marketing video. Looks like a little hub that changes micro-usb/usb cable to HDMI.
I imagine it's similar to this Samsung Micro USB to HDMI cable:
*can't post link but there is one on the market*
From advertising there's no HDMI output on HTC Vision.. and well, in G2 forums there isn't anyone that claims that Vision has got HDMI output.
DLNA is only a WiFi data sharing program, I've tried it on my old Motorola Milestone and it's really, really useless.
However, I've tried it for sharing with my PC as I haven't got a TV that supports DLNA, so maybe I'm wrong when I say that it's useless, but anyway the last hope is getting TVOut from 3.5mm jack as some phones and cameras can output video signal from there (analog, not HDMI).
I'm running mdeejay's desire z 1.3 rom on my hd2. I have a Samsung 46" C670 series TV. I have the TV wired to my router. When I'm on wifi with the phone I can control the TV through the 'Connected Media' app and view pics, vids, and music.

There's a micro usb to HDMI cable sold by Samsung and I believe HTC has a similar option.

There it is! Much appreciated.
here we go - have my Desire Zeee in hands for second day . Regarding dlna:
- watching content from dlna servers (pc, synology disc station) on the phone is there out of the box via "gallery" application where you can choose "connected media" which scans your wifi network and finds compatible sources. Have managed to see photos and play songs, but not video as "format not supported". Anybody know where supported formats can be found?
- watching content on your phone via TV that supports dlna: it not there out of the box, but there are apps that makes phone a "dlna server". Have used "twonky serverver mobile" that seems to be free and do the job, but again: photos and musing from phone on my TV is ok, but not video (at least for me: my TV - Philips...- dlna client does not support 3gp to which Zeee is recording via camera).
I'm guessing most of your videos are downloaded movies in divx or xvid format. The Desire Z does not play these.
The DLNA sharing facility is in the manual so that you can share media off the phone onto a PS3 etc but I haven't got it to work yet...still trying.
I just got it to work with Windows Media Player!!! On the PC, you need to go into Media Player, Stream menu, and tick "Allow remote control of my player". Then go onto phone, All apps, Connected Media, pick Music, then choose your PC name, and it will play on the PC!! And you can control it from the phone!! Awesome. Works with vids and pics too.

You can use the app arcmedia from market to play these.
I've also used the twonky media server app to stream a divx downloaded movie via dlna from the phone to the tv, via a ps3.
Works beautifully.
cool! works for me as well from cell > computer. does it go from computer > cell tho?

using galaxy note 8 as an android tv only?

I accidentally sat on my galaxy note 8 yesterday (damn it) and the screen is now broken... i cannot see anything (part of the screen is dark and other part is "scrambled") ... anyway I now want to convert the device into an android tv device as repair will cost too much...problem is I cannot navigate with the device touchscreen as I can't see nothing....
what do i need to completely convert it into an android tv? software, cables, etc... I bought the mhl hdmi cables from ebay but none worked... recommend me the correct cables to buy plz.. thx
You're in a "catch 22" scenario, you could use an OTG cable and a mouse, to enable Bluetooth and pair to a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but you can't see the screen to make the pair and you can't use the MHL cable and the OTG cable together.
You'll be better off getting a new screen off eBay and replacing it yourself.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
no way to "navigate" using adb something like that and set up a bash script that outputs/tv mirroring with mhl?
Replacing the screen seems quite pricey (I am going to use that money to buy a budget chinese dual boot android/win8 tab instead)
As for using it as a TV...
Seems like the stock video player does pass 1080i 30pfs well, all other players paid or not only passes 720p.
As most all streaming services push 720p as High Def, using 1080i would be very rare, and with today's standards to allow Cable to choke our internet. There is a monopoly going on, and if it were the 70's Comcast and Verizon would be heading to court just like AT&T.
You can get a MHL HDMI adapter, and use it to use a TV to connect. I have a Samsung TV, so Anynet+ will automatically turn on the TV and switch to the input when connected to the tablet.
All you need to do, is make sure the MHL HDMI adapter is connected to the USB power before connecting to the tablet. You can either plug in the MHL adapter before powering on the tablet or plug in once the tablet has been booted up. If plugging in while off, give it a few minutes to display on the TV.
The nice thing is that the adapter will work without need of any settings changes. I use Miracast as it does not need cables and works a wee better. Though many complain about how it functions, i think it is because of modded ROMs and the lack that they do not use Samsung's update to fully optimize the workings of their tablets.
If using Miracast, you will need a MHL adapter to configure the tablet for syncing... once configured you wont need to connect the MHL adapter. Though if any Miracast settings get changed your not going to be able connect and use your tv, since your tablet's display is broken.
I prefer a stock ROM, as it is fully working, and don't having to fix what others break.
thx for the reply but the problem is I cannot use the screen as it's broken... any ideas are welcome
ok guys some progress!
using
https://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/ and http://www.mymobiler.com/
I am able to control my galaxy note 8 from pc now with a usb connection
https://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/ is straightforward but it is very slow and could not get keyboard and mouse to work. I used it to install mymobiler app and grant root access to it... with mymobiler, i can use mouse and keyboard and it is faster but still lags... if anyone knows better/lagless screen mirroring app, let me know.
Now, next step is to connect physical bluetooth mouse and keyboard and hdmi so that i can use it as an android desktop/tv pc

You may have to check for PC mode on your telie... My Samsung has the capabilities to run PAL or NTSC through the PC input or HDMI 3, though it is undocumented. Once set at PC, you may have it sync properly.

My TV was made in 2008 and has 3D capabilities... Since it is Samsung, there are some features Samsung uses with HDMI connectivity. Such as AnyNet+, as it will detect and switch to the input automatically when connected.
Samsung has a few hidden features on my telie that not all telies have... even within their product lines.
To enable DVI/HDMI for PC use, you must go into the user menu to label the inputs.
There are preset labels, one being PC. That has to be set on HDMI 3 or a DVI/HDMI input.
If your teli has a DB15 SVGA connector, you may have to use an inline HDMI to Analog converter. As used in older projectors.
There can be issues right away, since Samsung uses AnyNet+ and other features within HDMI 3.1 Spec for the tablet and telie.
These issues can be the lack of detecting the tablets output or visa-versa in linking. Also modded firmware don't pay well at all for me.
I reverted to stock so I can use all the features that the tablet offers without having issues.
The stock video player does a great job at delivering 1080p @ 30fps, I wish MXplayer did that, but it comes in handy for video formats that the stock player can't do. The best I can get from MXplayer is 720p @ 60fps. So it seems that MXplayer may be an option if resolution detection is not syncing between stock player. Also the tablet does a great job at converting frame rates with all video players.
Another hidden and undocumented feature, is that my telie even being yank, will do Euro frame rates so I have the ability to play all frame rates, 24, 25, 30, 50, 60, and 75. Yes 75 fps... only when using PC enabled on DVI/HDMI. So I can push odd frame rates without a conversion between DVD/Blu-ray players if connected using PC analog connections or just connecting a PC to play videos.
As for connecting... I plugin the MHL / HDMI adapter to the tablet and then plug in the power adapter to the side of the MHL adapter.
Some telies will deliver 5v though the HDMI cable to power the MHL to HDMI adapter and tablet. Mine is too old and does not deliver 5v though its connection.
Hopes this helps with understanding some limitations with telies and connecting the tablet.

Hi, I think I mis-understood about the monitor connex... Not all monitors have full HDMI security built in. HDCP compliance may be your issue.
I suggest taking your tablet with the MHL adapter to a store to have the sales person assist with finding a monitor that will work for your needs.

Yes it will work on any Monitor with HDMI.
Just TV was on the top of my head when making a quick setup.

edit: the hdmi output resolution does not really fit the screen of my monitor.. is there a way to change resolution of the hdmi output?

Depending on Monitor settings, some will auto fit or allow for edge to edge adjustment.
Also if using video player, the Samsung video player does do edge to edge, while MXplayer will not through MHL. I gave up on Per App settings in Xposed, before I could ascertain that MXplayer will do edge to edge with H/W or Software decoder.
One thing with SecondScreen, it may adjust for proper scaling with Monitors, though with my TV the built in PC input scales to have a boarder to compensate for the 5% overscan most all TVs use to keep encoded signals from showing at the edges.
Not all Monitors and TVs are perfect, but I am able to use edge to edge with some adjustment with the display or using a 3rd party app such as secondscreen.
what is secondscreen? I can't find it on playstore ... yup when i play youtube, it plays full screen... will try to play a game.. Well the other option is to connect your tablet to your A/V receiver and pass the video to your monitor, or to get a signal splitter that will allow audio output. Depending on the quality and performance they can run as low as $20 and up to $150 so in some ways it is best to get an A/V receiver. If your A/V receiver is limited by inputs BlueJean cable has various HDMI switchers.
I have the link to the free app a few posts above this... just read the pages back till you find it. I am running the paid version so updates may be faster and better than the freebie. I went a head and updated to 1.4.5 just to see how much of a problem it is as for workarounds with Touchwiz. I still prefer 1.4.4 as it seems smoother at transitions between on and off / off and on. May revert back and just keep the old version as it does its job very well in automatic mode.
I can't find the link to Secondscreen app. Will check out if i can get a cheap av recevier

One note about secondscreen... it will shrink the display to have borders. Some TV / Monitors have zoom or scan adjustments to remove most of the borders.

Miracast ScreenCast DLNA on Android 10

Hi, is there a solution to get the Pixel 3 XL to connect to a miracast lapdock ?
I have a HP elite x3 lapdock that can connect with USB C or miracast to mirror the screen of the phone.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-elite-x3-lap-dock-stock-note-9-t3834806/amp/
While the Pixel 3xl cannot output the HDMI through USB C ( oh boy...) , I still have a bit of hope to get it to output the screen through the DNLA protocol.
... NO, the HP lapdock cannot use Chromecast and I don't want "always on" internet access to be able to get HDMI output from the phone.
So any of you made that phone cast its screen while on Android 10 ?
As you may know, Miracast was dropped by Google some 3-4 years ago. I remember there being complaints on the N6.
There's a thread in the Pixel 1 forum, restoring the capability. *[Guide] How to Enable Miracast for Pixel

shame, would have been a cool little dock like a switch.
I used second screen app with my rog phone 2 via adb cmd and it worked great for fullscreen 16:9 ratio on tv (Not sure if it would force different launcher though for desktop like experience)
Anyone want to try see if it works that would be great.

How to capture mobile screen via OBS

Hello guy,
I've been looking for an adapter which has WLAN+HDMI ports to connect to my capture card and record my gameplay in fullHD. The issue is that all the USB C adapters of this type gives me a black screen, even if the USB and WLAN work.
I tried about 10 of them that I bought via Amazon in IT Europe but without any success.
Do you guys know any solution on how to capture android 10 screen on windows except via WiFI? WiFi make my game run slow and the apps used to mirror the screen seem to use a lot of CPU.
*Sorry I don't have a Rog phone but it seems that this is the only place I can post on.
Smartphone Info: VIVO IQOO NEO 3 5G
