FireOS and CM11 at the same time? - Amazon Fire Phone

Hi,
does anoybody know how to use CM11 as main os and Fire OS as second OS in Safestrap?
My acutal problem is that the Safestrap partition can't be bigger than 1,2GB while the flashable zip from ggow has some MB's more. Does anybody know a solution for this problem?
I'm sorry for spelling mistakes or wrong grammar
Thanks ^^

From what ggow stated this is currently impossible. If the boot loader was unlocked I'm sure it would be possible. But right now you can only write an OS to the stock slot. Otherwise you would brick your phone.

It won't brick the phone. The most commonly reported problem is loss of connectivity using the ROM in the non-stock slot.

So there's no chance at the moment?
Thank for for replying btw ^^

It depends...
Would you be fine with using Fire OS in "WiFi only" mode? (since there is no connectivity via mobile data, SIM card isn't recognized)
If you are planning on using Fire OS only for a handful of things, I could test* a slimmed down version in slot 1...
* not before Saturday though...
Did a quick calculation, I'm down to 1.27 GB uncompressed data (from 1.8), so it's not looking good, I'll update given it works out...
edit: Successfully flashed it to slot 1 with 54 Mbytes space left, yeesh... ^^ Not stable at all, I'll give it a whirl with flashing a customized backup to slot 1 on the weekend, maybe this approach is useful...

Hi,
so first of all I apologize for my late reply, had a hard week :c
Second thing is that I want to thank you very much for your support ^^ And as long as the small version works it would be great if you could give me the link to it ^^
Just to say it again: Thank you!

Me too, expect an update within the next week, I hope it works with WiFi only and has no FCs...
edit 1: the TWRP backup image is ready for testing but I have to "reset" my device: whenever I create the "rom-slot-1", system partition shows up with 0 MB... working now...
edit 2: Welp, with my final image I had around 200 MB free space on the system partition but the biggest problem is again the hardware identification on non-stock slots, e.g. the mac address is "missing", so no WiFi at all, screen turns on & off by itself after a couple of minutes. I'm not going to upload the image, since it's only a case study titled "crash & burn".

[Q] Hard bricked S4 mini GT-I9195

Hi fellows S4 mini owners and the Android developers,
I just bought S4 Mini GT-I9195 LTE as present for my daughter and it came with the latest firmware XXUBMJ7 and with KNOX and I rooted it following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 and everything went well.
So, I got rooted S4 mini with CWM Recovery on stock kernel and in Knox everything was changed to Custom and Knox was showing 0x1.
I have partitioned 16 Gb SDHC class 10 micro card with MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional Edition with next partitions:
First partition: 12 Gb FAT32 (unchanged) Primary
Second partition: 2 GB Ext4 Primary
Third partition: 512 mb Swap Primary
I have installed Link2SD to try if it should work with second Ext4 partition and it wiould work for the moment and it would link all removable apps to the second partition but with next boot it would get all force closed (FC's) messages about this moved apps.
I did a factory reset from CWM Recovery and I tried all again but now I changed in Link2SD options to link apps but without automatic linking apps to second partition and it seemed to work and It only moved one part of installed apps to second partition with no more FC's after the reboot.
Now after that I wanted to get SWAP partition working and I have installed "Swapper2 for root" and I have choose in options to use Swap partition and it took third partition mmcbklp03 as Swap partition (and I think that here went wrong but I'm not sure) and I remember that there was option in Swapper2 to always format SWAP partition on the boot.and it was chacked.
I have swiched on Swapper2 and at first instance it faild to find SWAP partition, then I tried once again and it succeed to swich on swap, to format swap partition and to make swap.
I have restarted a phone several times after installing few other applications and it all went good. After few hours of installing of the new apps and testing them the battery draind out to one percent (1%) and I just wanted to leave it to charge with phone swiched off, because it's better for the battery. I didnt use the original Samsung charger but I have used USB 3.0 on my laptop and what I have noticed that it took to long to charge more then six hours to charge it to 100%. The next time when I tried to swich on the phone it was impossible. It wouldn't go to any mode, just black screen but if it is connected to the PC it gives a sound that there is a divece on that USB port.
With or without battery it just give a sound that it means that PC can see "something" but if I try with Odin it doesn't show at all on any com to be seen.
I took the phone to the friend of mine (he is a phone reseller and he has many different software to revive a lot of different phones and only Riff Box can see my phone on "com 163" ) but I didn't want to soldier it and to flash it because I still have the warrenty as the phone is only few weeks old.
My question is: What could be a reason of the hard brick ?
Was it Swapper2, maybe, because it has formated the wrong partition ? Or something else ?
And should I use the swap partition at all, next time, knowing that this phone has 1.5 Gb of working RAM ?
What is your expiriance and conclusions ?
Edit: I just plugged the phone on the other laptop with Windows 7 and it showed to install new drivers. As first it could not recognize a device, after that it has installed HID drivers and at least it didn't succeed to install QHSUSB_DLOAD drivers.
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance !

I will make it to You. The .zip file work well because it work only whit the pit.file that is on partition mmcblk0, same on both devices.
Like for Mega I9205 I rename it to "I9195_Partial_Sys_Dump_for_debrick.zip". Wait.

Hi to all !!!
The phone is back from the repair service and it's "fixed", acctually they changed the whole motherboard and they didn't want even to examine what the problem was, what I think is a bit sad.
It was probably just the few partitions that were messed up and they just could reflash it with a JTAG or thier other advanced hardware, but it was "easyer" to just swich a motherboard and now I get again new 4.2.2 with KNOX loader and december update...
So here we go again, I will root it again but I we'll avoid this time Swapper2, or if somone know's the right adress from where bigins the swap partition if I use 32 Gb SD micro partitioned to 26 Gb FAT 32 and 4 Gb Ext4 and 512 mb swap. Which mmcblk will be swap then ?
Or should I even use swap partition with S4 mini if we know that 1.5 Gb RAM should be enough for 4.2.2 ?
Thanks in advance !
Greetings !
Hi ValenteL,
Sorry that I wasn't here for a long time but I was busy with my study and I see that you made the .img file but I already send it to repair center and if read my last post you can see what happened.
I'm really sorry that I didn't test it before I send it to them because they where brute as always and they even didn't look what was the problem.
I mean, it's good for me but it wasn't neccesery to waste a hardware which was good but is much quicker to replce it then to flash it again...
I hope that your file can help to someone else who has a same problem as I had.
I'll take your file for the future experiments, or can you explain how can I make my own .img file if I'm not rooted yet ?
Thanks in advance.

My recovery image is here: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?6nu61z43y51v3k4
You need a 32 GB sd card and some luck. Also reading is a requirement.
Yours may be a special case though, as you claim nothing was going on besides you clicked a link. Should have absolutely nothing to do with ota, and everyone else who had done this was messing with their phone. This definitely works for 4.3, but no one had reported working on 4.4 (you were on 4.3 anyways). Good luck.

Mr Noobtoob, has anyone reported un-bricking a N900t running 4.4.2 (1st release, believe it ends in N94 or similar, NOT NE6)?
If so, did they do anything different?

Got it! So, to be clear;
1st - Format class 10 card to Exfat file system or structure
2nd - Using Win32Diskmapper, just point to the file (in my case kk900tunbrick image) and write to card. *Nothing special, should I verify Md5 sum, or just leave it as default settings?
3rd, Proceed to attempt to Unbrick (Battery at 100%, Put Sd card in slot, Then Add Battery, Connect cable - some say, some say doesn't matter, to computer, then attempt to boot with button sequence to download mode, or may boot by itself?)
Also, if the 1st image I downloaded does not work, can I reformat or wipe the sd card and start again with the other file (I believe a Pit file??)

[Q] How to restore original partition table, coming from Unified storage (Coldbird)

Hello everyone.
I used Coldbird method to unify partition layout on my Oppo Find 7 QHD.
Now I want to go back to stock partition table to use ColorOS or CyanogenMod without issue.
How do I do it?
I found several topics and tools to restore broken partition table but no one which specifically address my aim.

Hi,
just follow the instruction of the first Post:
How to switch partition layouts:
1. Fully charge your battery!
If your phone battery dies while executing the partitiontool you might end up with an unrecoverable phone.
2. Turn your phone off.
3. Turn your phone on, holding down the power + volume up button at the same time until your phone shows the text "fastboot..." on screen.
4. Connect your phone to your computer via a compatible Micro USB cable.
5. Install the fastboot drivers for your phone (Google is your friend).
6. Download the partitiontool.zip file from this topic's attachment section, unpack it and execute swaplayout.bat by doubleclicking it.
7. Your phone will seem to act up (getting stuck at "fastboot..." or showing a flashing screen, depending on your model) but that is perfectly fine.
Give it 4-5 minutes of time and the phone will reboot on its own!
Never ever turn off the phone during this process, it will render it a case for manual recovery or full brick.
Just wait until the phone reboots on its own, okay?
8. Your phone layout is now properly converted to the opposite layout.
If you had a split layout before it will be unified, if you had a unified layout before it will be split.
If you ever wish to revert your layout, just follow this tutorial and execute swaplayout.bat again.
An external sdcard isn't required but highly recommended!
If the partitiontool discovers an external sdcard it will place a backup of all critical partitions into a folder named "coldbird", keep a backup of this folder at all times.
Swipe the Layout on my Device last week back to split layout, everthing works great :good:
And in the case the phone sits on that screen in excess of 20+ minutes like in my case?

Working zip of Chinese stock rom for 6045I

First of all I am not a established developer still learning android system...... if anything creates problems after flashing this rom or after installing, dont blame me..
Proudly present the rom for Idol 3 6045I ported from it Chinese sibling TCL I806.
Fully working on my 6045I. Its stock 5.0.2 from TCL I806.
Many chinese apps have been removed but still few remains which can be removed by getting root.
Features:
1. Less Lags.
2. Fast.
3. Camera is working far better than the recent updates provided for 6045I.
How to install:
Caution : Before doing this, please make backup of your system & efs as mentioned by Famewolf in his thread of making backups.
1. Just download the zip from the link provided below and keep it in the root of sdcard.
2. Also download the gapps provided in the links. First link is which I installed on my device and second one is the latest. Keep it also in the root of the sdcard.
3. Now just boot into recovery mode i.e. TWRP , do not wipe anything, script will do it itself and just go to install and choose the stock chinese rom for 6045I.zip and flash.
4. Let the process to complete. It will ask to restart the system and just restart the system.
5. After first start choose language and other options, again boot into recovery mode and flash the gapps provided.
6. Here the stock chinese rom will run smoothly on your 6045I.
7. If TWRP gives error "error in executing binary" then you have to manually edit the updater-script but it depends on what your TWRP says about the error. So just ask me I will tell you what changes to make in updater-script.
After couple of manual restarts or with time rom will start to run smoothly.

Quick question. Can this rom read/write ExFat? I'd rather have my sd card formatted to that so that i can store larger movie files.
Are there any real noticeable differences besides less lag and fast? Those two mean almost the same thing. Does this ROM offer anything major that the US stock ROM doesn't? Awesome work though making a new ROM for the community to try. We appreciate your work. :good:

One enhancement I read about was that it did have newer camera software. Many of the packages included are newer version levels than the ones included on our phones because the i806 came out after our models.

You should consider removing the system update checker from your custom rom. The icon appears in your screenshots so I'm assuming it's still included. Since the build.prop says it's a 6045i but it has the i806 codebase patches will never apply since the checksum's won't match.....so depending on what "version" it thinks it's on vs the update version the update checker will either never show an update or always show an update.
OK. I think I have this working. The ROM seems to be functional for me. Downloading all my apps now and getting it set up how I like. Will try to run it through the day tomorrow and see what I like and don't like... not expecting much difference over stock, but we'll see.
Anyone have a suggestion for a lollipop compatible "minimal gapps?" I'm really only interested in google play and gmail..no need for google+ etc.

I might still have a PA micro gapps file somewhere. Just need to see if it's 5.0 or 5.1.
Edit: Here you go. Just pick up the zero gapps. It works perfectly.

Another option is the Slimgapps official thread here. They do have a "zero gapps" package, and both 5.x I think.

Yupp bro.
Just edit build.prop with notepad++ and change it to 6045Y instead of 6045I and flash the rom.
Then check the log of TWRP specially before the error in executing updater binary.
It will say something about the check_cu.
If you will open updater script with notepad++ you will see first line of command saying "check_cu("6045I-2AALUS7");"
Just change this line ("6045I-2AALUS7") with the line shown in the TWRP similar to this ( something like 6045Y-XXXXXXX)
Then again flash the rom, gapps and hope it will work.
If it works, dont forget to hit thanks button
Ok... I'll see, my phone is less than one week old and I swore myself that this one would be kept untouched for a year. I wanted to keep it clean for warranty purpose but one week later... I'm already rooted.
I'm kind of flashaholic so won't resist very long... Don't worry.
What will it update exactly? Is there a risk it will mess up the European radio part? Just to make sure I'll still get a good signal or loose imei.
I do have my twrp backup for boot and system image, will that be enough to get back to a previous working state?
Thanks,

I rooted my phone the next day it came to me,
Eventually i am also not going to get warranty as I imported this device from US to India.
N I personally dont care about warranty as none of the android device gets bricked completely, there is always a way.
Like I got stucked in bootloops in try of porting cm12.1 from other device.Even my backups failed to boot. Then I followed the mobile updater app provided by Alcatel and it simply restored my device to factory rom which will get updates also.
N warranty will not work if the device got physically damaged.
Yes backup will work.
After flashing this rom I would suggest you to make TWRP backup of this rom also alongwith Stock one.
I am getting a lot of range in network selection as it contains all the radios available for this device.
Screenshots of network range:

It's much safer to mod now since with Version 4.9.2 of the Mobile Q software from alcatel (you have to tell it you have a "pixi" for that version to appear as it's so new) allows you to put the phone in "download mode" and fully restore the device to factory condition. (tested by multiple idol 3 users of both the 6039 and 6045) This goes a long way towards making the device unbrickable.

I agree with you bro......:good::good:
Thanks both for your answers. Yes the Alcatel restore software makes things way easier to fix. I already installed it yesterday to make sure my phone drivers are installed for any "phone state". I also have the android sdk installed.
By the way, I am thinking to bring my small contribution to this forum by creating an " ultimate list of mods/softwares/issues" for this phone.
There have been so many news and achivements in the past few weeks, it's a bit difficult to read everything in the correct order.
So last question, how about the radio, imei, etc... Any risk on this?
And then, I think I'll give it a try.

In my opinion no risk of losing imei no. and radio modems

I'm attaching a platform.xml file already modded to allow full read/write access to the external sd (just drop the .zip off the filename as that was just to get xda to allow me to upload it...it's a text file)....you might find it useful to replace this in yours.(/etc/permissions)..other options include pre-rooting...adding in init.d support....etc.
Ran this ROM overnight and through most of my day so far (about 3 hours off the charger). First impression is that it's about the same as stock, not that I was expecting any different. You get the TCL splash screen at boot but the overall UI is pretty much the same. Since I now have root I went ahead and used app quarantine to freeze the bloatware apps I didn't want. Kinda wishing I had installed minimal gapps, but I figure I'll be reflashing again soon since the floodgates are probably about to open with new ROMS anyway.
Conclusion: If you're curious, flash it, it doesn't hurt anything. It may be a hair smoother, and I haven't really tested the camera extensively enough before or after to be able to tell a difference.
Edit: Literally as soon as I submitted this message (from my PC) I went to turn wi-fi off and the phone decided to reboot. Really odd.

Working great for me as DD. Battery life is better than 6.x, but I'd expect that it'd be a little better anyway after a full wipe & fresh install.

I was on the PK1 yesterday, then I ODIN'd to PL1 (using Norbarb's instuctions and wiped my device in the process).
I then realized that since the device was already wiped, I simply ADB directly to QC5 (as it was already 1.5GB in size and should already contain the previous updates).
Battery life is now horrible, although I'm still trying to get used to the new features by turning off / disabling what I don't need. The update is worth it. as the theme makes me "feel" as though I got a new device. The touchwiz additions replace quite a number of third party apps that I'd have downloaded separately otherwise.

As you probably did, I'm using a non-rooted AT&T Galaxy Note 5 (N920A}. I'm familiar enough with ODIN to know that I'll probably mess it up the first try... And spend a lot of time figuring out my mistakes.
Did you have any difficulty with the update process?

The only problem I encountered was the need to perform the large address aware fix to adb so it would sideload the S4CQB2-to-U4EQC5.zip file for me, otherwise it went fine. Just takes time. I went step by step after first backing all my stuff up. I was on an older MM release that had not been patched with any of the last 3 or 4 security patches, so I began with a complete wipe and ODIN of CPK1. Then sideloaded the rest, one at a time and switching USB debug on each time before the next update: CPK1-to-PL1, then PL1-to-CQA1, then CQA1-to-CQB2, then the final S4CQB2-to-U4EQC5. About 90 minutes maybe, a little less? I can't recall, but wasn't a big deal. It took Google longer to load my 180 apps back on at the end LOL. All the tips (like the large address fix) are in the other thread - just read it over before starting. I see we have a new update too to version QC6.... I may flash that or wait another week or two to see if more updates come out. Honestly it is running just great and I have no issues. Snappy. HTH
I will post in Nougat update thread new update to 4CQB2 to 4EQC6 firmware. Please let me know there if you want 4CQA1 to 4EQC6 update also.

ADB sideload always wipes after it completes
There is an app named Flashify which does not wipe after applying updates but that only works on rooted phones (and you cant root the AT&T Note 5)
Therefore no, there is (currently) no way to prevent sideload wipe
Thank you very much Dezborders!
Now it will be my first time to use Odin, pleaz can you give me the link of the more stable marshmallow for you on N920A... ?
