Hi devs
I am an unfortunate soul as my recently purchased LGOG E975 just got bricked. The whole story goes like this -
I successfully rooted the phone one week ago and it was working fine until yesterday when I uninstalled the Google Play Movies app via Root Delete app. The problem started when I restarted the phone - it gave a "Security error" on boot and went into restart loop. Worried I searched at Xda forum for the solution and tried the "TeenyBins" method first (here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249500). But it only aggravated the problem - at 85% of process the phone showed as disconnected from LGNPST and after trying many times the same problem persisted (the process never got to 100%). However the method installed TWRP custom recovery in the phone and a Google Logo replaced the LG logo at boot. Phone was normally booting in download mode and custom recovery but the recovery is unable to do anything - it shows as "Failed" whenever I try to wipe any cache, mount any partition, flash any custom ROM (which I pushed via adb) or take backup. Rather it shows "No OS installed" whenever I reboot, power off etc. TWRP is also showing no data inside sdcard via the inbuilt file manager. What is the problem?
Fed up, I tried LG Support tool - phone is successfully detected in "download mode" (everything is shown including the OS version which means OS is intact). I choose "phone recovery" option in LG support tool and it successfully downloaded the stock firmware (about 1.1 GB wait wait and wait) and when it tried to flash the phone it showed as the phone is not connected and instructed to unplug the phone and restart it and then again connect to PC. I followed everything carefully putting the phone in download mode again but again and again same error......Oh God for heavens sake....
Fed up, I then tried this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010624) - downloaded the latest KDZ (>1GB) according to my phone from LG servers and used the KDZ FW Updater to flash the phone but the tool gave error "File extracted error" and I repeated the process again and again but no avail..............here I am, after 48 hours of desperation having a phone with the same **** Google logo on boot and the screen goes black...nothing happens thereafter..
Please forum devs, experts, moderators or any kind soul, I beg you to help me.... :crying:
If yu ve done the second method before instead of lgnpst tool there may b chances of helping yu.... And make sure which bin nd dll file yu flashed...??

OK One question.
Can you get into download mode? Flash MODE?
Follow this
1.Install all drivers LG
2.Download firmware from here http://www.lg-phones.org/official-stock-lg-optimus-g-firmware-rom.html
3.Download http://www.mediafire.com/download/sj5y073xal03ntw/KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.rar
4.Extract KDZ_FW_UPD on desktop
5.Install msxml.exe
6.When done run windows enabler. You will see the icon and left klick on it and choose ON
Now you should se ON at the ICON
7.When done start KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
8.Chose 3GQCT in TYPE and Phone Mode CS_Emergency
9.Then Turn of the Phone. Now hold Vol UP and Vol Down at same time. Hold and plug in the USB cable into your phone
Now you should be in DOWNLOAD mode
10.Now chose your firmware in KDZ File and press Launch Software Update
If it starts to flash dont interrupt it until you see PARAM 1 again. You phone will auto reboot at PAram 95 but dont discconect until you see PARAM 1 again.
If you get bootloop when restart give it 2 min. If it keeps show LG logo then turn of and do FACTORY RESET
Hold Vol up + Power at same TIME i think Now you should get Factory Reset MENU. Now press power again and it should work.
GOOD LUCK

Thanks for your time dear
but I have exactly followed the process you mentioned and unfortunately still got the KDZ extract error. I have downloaded KDZ for my phone from different locations multiple times but none of the KDZ worked with KDZ FW Updater. It looks like the current KDZ FW Updater is unable to handle the large KDZ files (>1GB) of newer phones while it works fine for older smaller KDZs. In this way this updater is a bit outdated. I request the developers to please update this wonderful tool to make it compatible with latest KDZs.
Try using kdz from romania,it has 982 mb and it's 10D.

But i flashed mine KDZ and its above 1GB and it extracted without issue. It must be something with your PC or something.
Mine extracted without issues
I think you have CORRUPT DOWNLOADS.
Do you unzip the KDZ file from the RAR? Or do you point KDZ Updater to the RAR file? You must unpack RAR so you file will be shown as E97510B_00.KDZ this is the Europe Open Version.
Remember if you unrar the file check if any errors coming when unpacking. If so then your RAR is corrupted and you need to redownload.
'did you RUN Updater as ADMIN?
Download this version of the KDZ European Open

I have the .KDZ file and not .rar but I did not run the program as admin so will try again. It may be a corrupt download so will download again.
One question though, my phone is E97510E_00 (Indian version) so can I flash with the 10B open Europ. version KDZ you mentioned above?
Basically all firmwares are identical.the only differences are operator related. If you can find what are the 4g/lte frequencies of your operator,i could tell you what europe firmware to flash.if you don't have/want 4g,i guess you could flash the latest 10D european kdz without problems.

Mate just flash EU version so you can have working phone. If you sucess you can seek for answer later to flash indian ver.

exactly same problem!
hello my friend,
i have exactly the same problem as you with the same results.today ill try doing this in a desktop and see if the extract problem is gone...it drives me crazy.
please if yu fing something write it here...you ll save me!thank you!
p.s. i have f180 U+ edition
ok i found solution combining all of what i ve read..(and read a lot)
1)find a custom rom (i used avatar) but unzip it and go to \META-INF\com\google\android and open updater script with notepad.Delete this "(assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "e975" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "e975");"
then save the file.
go to first folder that u unzipped and take MetaInf,boot img and system and put them in a new zip.
2)so since u have twrp in your telephone, push with adb the zip from step 1 inside the phone (how to push a rom here)
3)the phone will normally open when you reboot.if you dont have signal go here and download your phones modem.Copy it through your pc to your phone and then reboot again to recovery mode and install this file(do not unzip it)
clear cache,do a factory reset and in the next boot you ll be allright!

Hi,
Really excited, but can u please tell me the step by step procedure. My phone is a F180L korean Sim and i really dont know which is my actual make.. i mean like E973 or E975. I bought this phone to india and unfortunately its U+ sim locked and i was unable to use this phone in indian networks. Hence after going trough this forum, i learned how to change a firmware and how to convert this phone to E975 and i downloaded one for india from the official LG site and there were KDZ extraction error. i tried it with the LG PC sync method and its showing the memory is low and free up some space in the memory. but after downloading a firmware for Europe, i could update my phone into E975, but my indian sim is not getting connected. So i request everyone for a solution. I tried many things already and soft bricked many times.. luckily i could recover it using LG support.
SO KINDLY TELL US HOW U DID IT WITH THE AVATAR ROM AND WHAT DO U MEAN BY \META-INF\com\google\android.
Many thanks

so this is what i did.
1.use LGNPST prog with the small file for installing TWRP in your phone (see how here)
2.Download a custom ROM.I used this.The file will be in ZIP format/
3.copy your rom in a new folder.Rightclick on ROM and press extract here. The extracted files will be 2 folders (METAINF,SYSTEM) and boot.img.Open META-INF\com\google\android (these are folders) and there will be a file "updater script ".Right click on this file and select open with notepad. Then delete the following " (assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "e975" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "e975"); ".Press ctrl+s to save the file.
4.Go to the starting folder, select again METAINF,SYSTEM and boot.img ,right click them and press add to archive(with winrar). In there give a name and be sure to select zi compression. So this new ZIP you've just created is the new ROM.
5.Now you have to send the ZIP you created to your phone. This can be done with ADB push.To read how to do it please read here
6.Once you transfer that file into phone you have to disconnect your phone and press vol+ button and then power on.This is FASTBOOT.Press 2 time the vol- button so it says RECOVERY MODE.Then press the power button and wait to open the TWRP menu.
7.Now that you are in TWRP select wipe and wipe dalvik, cache and do factory reset. Then go to install and youll see the pushed ZIP file that you transfered before.Click on this and press install.
8.After a while it will write that is done.Do a reboot and the new ROM will be fine.
9.If it opens and you dont have signal go to this site here and download the modem for your phone.Mine worked with Korean version modem.I dont know what you should install for Pakistan unfortunatelly. So when you download it,send it in your phone through usb connection (now your phone works,no need of ADB push) and then go to TWRP in recovery mode and install modem like the way you installed the ROM before.Wipe data again and do a factory reset and then your phone should be ok.
BTW you have to know that these ROMS have some bugs but you can do epic customization and the guys always update the rom over the air to do it more stable.
If you have any question feel free to make them!Good luck!

Thanks a Lot MafiaGR....
I didn't tried this yet as i did a different method and i am using it on trial basis. is it works.. then i am more than happy enough to continue... let me explain what i did.. I have rooted my F180L korean U+ sim unlocked phone with motochopper. After rooting the same, then i unlocked my bootlocker with freegee-beta (many thanks to Shell). Then i downloaded a kdz file (E97510D_00.kdz , Europe Open) from the LG server. then i updated the same by putting my phone in download mode (volume up+volume down + USB connected + power ON) and updated with KDZ updated program.. after quite some time my phone got rebooted with E975 Europe Open firmware. Even after this i was unable to get indian network in the phone. So Using Rom manager, i downloaded CyanogenMod 10.1 Rom with GApps and flashed my ROM again. Now my phone is getting connected with indian network. but the problem i am facing is with my network not getting registered... i can find about 12 networks in my phone but unable to register into any of them...Need help from u guys...
Thanks in advance

Finally I got the problem solved and my phone back !!
Unfortunately nothing worked for me as suggested by you, guys may be I was doing something wrong or else.
Finally I decided to contact LG Service Center in my city and after initial try they told me that "the phone is not getting connected in flashing mode" and I had to submit the phone to them. Next day they called me and told that there is a hardware problem and a "part/PCB" will be replaced within next 7 days. And today they called me again with the good news - your phone has been repaired and I can pick it up anytime. Elated I got the phone within an hour, live and kicking. Thank God I got my loving phone back and most importantly they did not detected that the phone was rooted and thus out of warranty. Lucky me!!!
Any way thanks everyone for your prompt help....:good:

maybe you hae to try diferent modems for the mobile phone until you find the right one.Mine works with the Korean modem although i live in Greece. You may have to find exactly in what frquency your provider works and then see where in the world a provider has exasctly the same frequency as yours, and then download the modem drivers from the LGOGs that work in this country.
Hope it works!

You are absolutely correct. The problem for me was with the Modem for sure. I flashed with a Nexus 4 modem in my phone and i could register network in my phone. but the problem now is that the signal is very weak. I tried flashing many modems like E970 Att, then E973 Tellus and few more.. but i couldnt get a better signal. if the signal is good, then the sim is not getting registered. i tried to search for an indian modem for E975 which i couldnt find.. moreover i am unable to download the indian/thailand/hongkong firmwares from LG official site as its saying that the Access is denied. Please help me with those links as i am really desperate to use my phone...
Thanks again

Hello Community,
Yesterday my G3 stucked in a Bootloop without changing anything. Than I wanted to repair it with the LG PC Suite. This failed with the message "Assert" multiple times. Now it stucks in the download mode. Can I repair it? More important are the files on the G3. Is there a way to get them?

Try this:
1) Remove battery
2) Hold down the power button for 30 seconds with the battery out
3) re-insert battery
4) Try turning it on again.
If that doesn't work, do a hard reset. You can find multiple posts on how to do it. Hope this helped!
Maybe I can help somebody with the same problem. I solved the problem with the following steps:
I setted up a new Windows 7 x64 PC. It must be Windows 7!!! No Windows 8 or other shiny things.
Installed the driver
Flashed a compleltely new firmware (.tot) over the old (!) FlashTool.

Although I have never come across this, using this site to download the right KDZ and using this thread to flash that KDZ may solve your problems. There is no harm done in trying this and you can be sure that it is the right file.
LG G3 Boot problems after download mode
Hello!
Sorry revive the topic but it was the only one who found a similar problem, after searching lot on google.
I have a LG G3 D855P. Yesterday he went out and restarted many times, but worked for a short time.
I can use the BoardDiag, but when I restore the D855P20C_00.kdz .kdz, to reach 36%, the cell phone goes off and does not return. I need to take the battery cable, so that it returns to the download screen, but still, to get 36% he goes again. Have made sure that the .kdz file works properly.
I followed the tutorial presented in this video.

Hi all,
Long time user first time posting a thread [sorry couldn't help myself]
Anyway I have a LG G3 F400L and I accidentally installed D855 rom on to it [AndroidNow_HD_8.0_Lollipop].
I have tried flash tool to flash the correct firmware but to no effect it now detects it as D855, so I cant install the F400L firmware using the F400L dll. I am installing an older firmware i.s 10e I have also tried 20f for F400L but the new flash tool doesn't recognize my phone, I have tried different USB ports and a different PC with Windows 7 32bit still nothing.
I am using Windows 8.1 64bit.
Regards and thank you for the help.
Anyone, please help.

Thank you for the response. I do not have access to recovery, only download mode works.
Update: I have tried using a general Dll to flash TOT file via flashtool but it doesn't let me error CrossDl [D855] to [F400L].
I had this and I set for 4 hours figuring out how to fix it. ( I had not accsess to the download mode first only to hard reset which didn't work and the "Fastboot mode started")
If you have access to the Download mode that's perfect, Follow this Tut:http://lgg3root.com/lg-g3-root/how-to-unrootunbrick-lg-g3/
Please make sure you download the correct TOT file for your phone.

Thank you that did work sort of, I was doing the same thing but someone in the comments referred to a modded DLL for the flash which did the job to some extent at least.
Its back to stock but stuck at McAfee activation, requires a pin which I do not have nor have ever created one, and now a Kill switch has been engaged and no more download mode. Out of the fire into the frying pan is what I feel like right now 100hours and 33mins without my G3, but who is counting.
That's sucks where did the McAfee activation came from??
Have you tried a hard reset ? or can you access the fastboot mode again ?

Nothing, no download mode or recovery. Boots up asks for language selection and then McAfee pops up of PIN. I am talking to McAfee support hopefully they can help.
Goodluck with that!
Thank you all.
Finally fixed. Just needed to be quick, the McAfee app gives you about 30 secs to do your thing then it pops up for pin. I opened up the McAfee app -> setting and changed the pin .

Personally i don't really like flashify or any other similar apps. But as you are a beginner at all these follow this simple steps.
Can you boot your phone?
Try using the official App provided by TWRP
Go to Google Play Store and search Official TWRP app, download
Go to the application and select "TWRP Flash" option, after that select your device model and then select the latest TWRP version(3.0.2.0 or 3.0.3.0).
After all these click the bottom Download TWRP.
That's all.

I see that you have messed a lot with your system partitions.
I'll try to find something helpful.
Till then try checking if you can use system upgrade.(To go for example to lollipop while it may save your phone and also be able to flash the correct laf.img)
Question:After you finished the procedure on flashing the laf.img(for d851)(also you can flash the 10d laf.img as the OP said in the guide)did you pull the battery out and Boot to download mode(manually)?
How to get to Download Mode
yes i did try to boot into dl mode manually..

You also did pull the battery after flashing laf.img(10d) for D851 Model?
So... I think that after you tried doing all these and nothing worked, you'll be unable to get Download mode back, but let me check some of the system partitions and check if you can manually insert the laf.img file.
Somehow you can insert the laf file to your phone but it needs extracting (the laf.img) to get the proper file.
I found the location of the laf file.
But if anyone can be found with D851 can send the laf file here for you.
Two other solutions are:
1.Staying without dl mode? Maybe.
2.Buying a new motherboard.

Hello, (complete n00b here)
Several days ago I've tried to flash a 6.0 MM (from 5.1) to my LG G4 H815 phone. There was no option to do it automatically so I proceded to do it manually via flashboot.
I hard-bricked it to oblivion as in black screen, no response whatsoever.
While investigating @ the internet I've managed to understand I could get it fixed via quadcomm drivers (mode 9008).
Tried various "fixes" for H815 but was getting safari download errors. For some reason I tried a LS991 fix and it worked. When I started the phone it showed no logo but just a secure booting error 1006.
Still, could enter firmware download so I began to flash a lot of KDZ firmwares with no success.
LGUP shows my model : H81510H.
While in fastboot mode there is a note below (wasn't there the first time) with codes : 633 B46 or something like that.
While flashing anything it ALWAYS STOPS at 9% with a tot anti-rollback error. While flashing the code changes briefly where one can read smth like : LGLS991ZVA ver. 6.0
Managed to download some KDZ for that exact model, SAME ERROR. Tried to find / flash LS991ZVA with no success in finding a TOT file.
Also, managed to get ADB drivers up and it shows unauthorized in listing (LS991). Fastboot does not detect my device even in fastboot mode @ phone.
Please HELP!

Hello and thx for reply. I tried to do what u've said. It did something (I was looking for a while back). When I plug the cable back in, my windows 7 immediately installs quadcomm hs-usb driver (9008) and my phone acts as if it was dead. LGUP cannot find it in that state. I've been trying to QFIL the "proper" soft but it continues to pop different errors (using different QFIL versions). Either saharafail or some sort of download fail.
LGUP still presents an error (if I decide to "fastboot" it) @ 9% 0x2000, TOT antirollback version is smaller than device version.
How can I make sure I've got the proper KDZ without ANTI-ROLLBACK?

Thx again. Uppercut shows H81510H as LGUP did. Is it possible that it's somehow write-protected?
It confuses me, since during the firmware update on my phone, I get this small box below the picture showing wierd codes : 633A Bxx and when I'm trying to flash my phone, the code gets longer with LS991ZVA v6.0 and more other. It then stops.
Funny thing is, when I got the phone I couldn't even connect to the LG bridge to update it at all. I've managed to do it bugging the MTP protocol but THAT on the other hand prevented me from copying stuff / FLASH my phone to MM 6.0. Had to factory reset it back then and all went back to "normal" = LG couldnt detect my device but I could copy photos or stuff from it.
NOW, when my phone is bricked, LGbridge DETECTS my phone (in fastboot), downloads the newest KDZ update BUT cannot install it (same thing as in LGUP). Hence my question : is it somehow write-protected?

Have you tried to eset it by pushing power and volume own then when you see bootsplash then release power button and hen quickly push the power button again....
But in your case push power and volume down within the count or 20 then release power then push power button again and see what happens and then try the same thing on volume up......
Thanks for the reply.
I did what u've said. Despite no logo I tried to release power button for a second just after the screen's brightness goes up (I also get a small vibration @ start). Everytime I get secure booting error 1006 after a few seconds.
On the other hand when I did that with volume UP button there was no error but there was nothing aswell until I release power button in which case I got the secure booting error. All of the above tries were done with no USB connection with anything.

Can't tell atm since I gave it to professionals. I'll wait and see how it'll turn up. Thx for all the effort tho, was nice to tinker with a lil help
@Longbranch did you solve this problem ? I'm in the same state but my phone model is H810, everything else is the same as yours.
Nope, not really. I gave it back to the reseller and my money got returned luckily.
The professionals I refer to above did install a specific firmware for the ls991 type. Firmware ZVB I think. The only one appliable apparently. Anyways, as I suspected the ls991 type is for the US and therefore it didn't work in my country in EU. My sim card wouldnt work with it. Besides, without the sim card, the phone decided to freeze and die after several minutes every time I turn it on. Swapped for LG G5 and it's working flawlessly up until this day.
good for you, what i don't understand is that it's a h810 model but now identify as ls991 does that mean you can convert it just by a Qfil flash? I may try another model flash if can't find a suitable Rom for it

Yes! That's what I and neutrondev telling everyone :
do not use qfil without the knowledge about the result!
The only working firehose file available out there is for the ls991 and that means if you use it it will turn your device into a ls991 without any way to get back to your previous device model!!

@steadfasterX since I have done it already is there any way to get it working even as an LS991 ?
here is what i did till now
the reason for using Qfill is that it went dead after flashing an H810 rom .
after that when it's in download mode it doesn't allow me to flash the ls911ZV5 ls911ZV6 ls911ZV6_12 roms that i found ( it says LS991ZVA )
so i went in fastboot and flashed boot/aboot/recovery....img extracted from the ls911ZV6 rom then it accepted the rom in download mode
but it is stuck in a hard bootloop ( reboots when it is getting in recovery but still has download mode yet no fastboot as before)
any thoughts ?

Yes it's possible. You can boot a h811 H815 or any other rom you like. Even LOS!!
Great right? BUT you are bounded to the ls991 modem and so you need to be in a sprint network to use telephony. That means the phone is now useless outside the US .
And you wrote you tried ls911 ROMs? I hope you meant ls991
I work on a fully working experience on every network though. Checkout my proof of concept for unlocking the bootloader thread
I can go into details on IRC if you like.

@steadfasterX thank you for keeping up with me ! ( btw what room on IRC ?)
for now I have used Qfill again and got fastboot working again and flashed TWRP ( not sure where ! ) so when the phone is off and i plug the usb it boots to twrp ( but it doesn't in recovery )
normal boot will show "secure boot error 1002"
then i flashed twrp img to recovery partition using twrp but it didn't work in recovery ( still reboots after showing Recovery Mode loading screen )
also tried to load some roms on the device to try them but I got error "file too large for filesystem " when copying them .
atm I don't know the state I'm in and what should be next ?
btw here are the recovery log and dmesg

Np we can bring you back to life but as already said without cell service. That's the price for the firehose and unlocked feeling you have now.
Did you found and read my thread here?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/bl-unlock-unlock-bootloader-proof-t3648288
There you will find some more info and also the IRC details how you can find me. I'm online from Monday to Friday mainly.
It's much easier to talk in chat then here. once all the details are known I will provide a full guide.
