Hi,
I am newbie for Android and this could be silly question.
Is possible for me to downgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.1.1 with original stock rom (international version N7100) and no root?
If possible, could you write down steps that I need to take?
Yes, I did search the forum but it doesn't comes with step by steps?
Reason is battery drain too fast especially at night.
I had the same problem... You must be rooted first to do it...
Download the correct firmware (http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/)
Install MobileOdin (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro&hl=en_
Copy the tar.md5 file to your external sd card
Open Mobile Odin and flash the stock rom. It even has an option to root it without effecting the status. My phone is rooted but it still says official. Then use TriangleAway to reset the counter to 0 and you're good to go.
You dont believe you have to be rooted at all, I did this last night, the way I did it was went into stock recovery, factory reset and wiped cache, rebooted, turned off, booted into download mode, connected to pc, opened odin and flashed stock 4.1.1 simple as. It did get stuck once on samsung logo I left it for about 10-15 mins, went back into recovery and wiped and factory reset again, rebooted and all was good and now Im back on 4.1.1 so far its been off charge for 3 hours or so and its only gone down 1% it would have been around 8-10% on 4.1.2 for me
I wasnt rooted before, was on stock 4.1.1 then upgraded to 4.1.2
Absolutely possible. I just did. Steps are,
1- Make a batch backup with Titanium first, on your 4.1.2 ROM.
2- Flash the stock 4.1.1 ROM via Odin.
3- Root it.
4- Go to recovery and wipe data, factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache.
5- Now you've 4.1.1 fresh ROM, install Titanium and restore all missing apps and system data.
6- Now you've a fresh 4.1.1 ROM with all the data and apps.
'Continously inputted' from my GT-N7100
Jujuburi said absolutely correct, why you need root to simply flash stock rom.
Just to add.
After downgrading as described by jujuburi above, your device still will have new bootloader and that won't downgrade by procedure said above and so you have to re root with cf auto root or one of the CWM recovery, exynose abuse apk won't work.
Downgrading bootloader is needs different method and no need to describe here as it is not recommended/required at all.

The easiest way to do it without a pc or raising your flash counter is to follow my tutorial.

Okay, that mean if I dont root is 100% i cannot downgrade it to 4.1.1?

It's only a temporary root. Once you load the tar.md5 in mobile odin you have the option to keep it rooted or not. Just simply keep the box unchecked and you'll be good to go. If you're not rooted right now root it with cf-autoroot to keep your status as official on 4.1.2 then install mobile odin and finish the steps.

????? Your guide isn't the easiet way at all. The OP didn't say he didn't have access to a pc? And flashing stock roms via odin doesn't raise flash counter afaik?
Also your link to odin is a paid for version which isn't required.
+1
Absolutely right
-No root needed to flash using Odin, neither flashing stock ROM with PC odin raise flash counter.
hi guys
a have the same sleep drain issue with 4.1.2 and going to odin flash 4.1.1 but do i have to wipe data/cache ? and if so do i have to wipe b4 or after the flash ?? thx
It is not compulsory, but in many cases during downgrading, after flashing ROM device may gets bootloop OR stuck at samsung logo. in such caes you need to do it.
But i do prefer wipe always after flashing ROM for better performance, you can do it after flashing.

Hello all,
I have been reading, viewing videos etc for past 4 days. and have asked questions on youtube to people but no one replied now you are my BIG HOPE..
i have an international version unrooted galaxy note 2. I dont have much details about baseband etc as i never jotted them down before upgrading. But i do have details now after upgrading to 4.1.2.
Baseband- N7100XXDLK7
Kernal 3.0.31-679347

AP: N7100XXDLL7
CP: N7100XXDLK7
CSC: N7100DBTDLL2 (which is germany)
I am downloading N7100XXALJ3 N7100DBTALJ2 from dr.ketans N7100 all in 1 old rom posts of 4.1.1 Oct 2012 as thats what i cuold find for DBT germany firmwares. Is that right one........???????????????????????
like others i upgraded to 4.1.2 and have been facing battery drain problem. first of should i wait till samsung comes up with fix in next update or shuld i revert back to 4.1.1.
I read this post as and it is so confusing-
Battery only lasts 1 day so want to go back to stock firmware 4.1.1 and want flash counter zero and everything legit. one member said root is needed then other said its not. then dr. ketan in the end say just to go back to stock root is not needed and just flash with odin and it wont increase counter as well if flashed with odin pc. is that right that we dont need root to just go back to stock 4.1.1 as he said.?
---------- Post added at 09:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:24 PM ----------
Now i am confused as i have multiple options suggested by all in this thread--
* If root is not needed should i just download 4.1.1 (enquired about the firmware N7100XXALJ3 N7100DBTALJ2) and flash it with pc odin just like bradmax 57 said and keep it all legit and will i still get OTA samsung kies updates in future..?
OR
* Should i root my phone first using cf-auto root with method given in your N7100 all in 1 forum and then flash 4.1.1 with mobile odin and then remove triangle away once and for all.? if we go this way obviously phone will be have full root access with limitation of not being able to flash zip files from pc (but will be ok with mobile odin for that) and cant use nandroid backup and restore - i am not fussed about these things but want my phone to be legit for warranty and do need future updates OTA and from kies.?
Also do i wipe cache, factory reset from recovery before or after flashing 4.1.1 as bradmax57 had to do it twice before flashing as it was getting stuck at samsung logo but on the other hand dr.ketan suggests to do it after flashing 4.1.1..
Kindly help.
Thanks in advance for your precious time.
Here i giving clear answer and you should not have any confusion.
-No need to have root to flash 4.1.1 with Odin
-after flashing, you may stuck at samsung logo, in that case you have to reboot to recovery and have to wipe cache and data
-I don't recommend to downgrade, as latest 4.1.2 having SDS fix, on 4.1.1 you device can be brick without any reason. if you have battery issue, download latest MA6 ROM , not necessary you will have to flash DBT ROM, you can flash any country ROM and whenever your country get same update, same way you can flash that ROM with Odin.
First off a big big thank you to dr.ketan, mazdamiata and jujuburi who assisted me and cleared confusion. I have down graded to 4.1.1 easily and see a massive battery difference already. All i had to do was download stock firmware for my phone csc region and flash it with odin. wipe data , cache in recovery mode as it did get stuck on samsung logo and its all good. no root needed and flash counter etc remains untouched as well..

So you're saying we can flash a different rom to our phones without it breaking? I find that hard to believe. Why would there be different firmwares then from samsung? I need TTT firmwares, so I could flash any DMA6 firmware since mine isn't available yet?

dr.ketan said csc doesnt matter. if we flash rom of different country. the rom has kernal, csc information. the only thing is we will get ota or kies update of that country whose rom we flash. rest i wouldnt know lets wait for a word from dr. ketan or some one on this

You can flash any ROM of N7100 to your N7100, that is that simple.
I never seen a case of bricking by just flashing stock ROM. just selecting own country ROM will help you for better language support, and some priority/selection of application for your country on play store when you search OR google suggest you. You can flash any country ROM which is latest and still not available for your country.
I suppose I should know this, but I don't
I had root with 4.1.2, and updated to 4.2.2 leaked FW - I knew I would loose root, but I thought I could re-root but that does not seem to be the case. Is this so?
If I want to go back to 4.1.2, how do I do this becauseI don't seem to be able to get into TWRP recovery. I thought this was supposed to stay on after upgrading?
why dont u just flash stock 4.1.2 rom via odin for revert?
Good idea, thanks. I was just thinking that myself. Getting the file from sammobile (uk version)
Will it be obvious where each file should go in Odin, will there be three files to select (pda, csc and modem, or just PDA?)
Are there any instructions on XDA?
EDIT
I managed to do it, got into a boot loop though, but was able to restore

He may not if it is a soft brick. As long as when he says softbrick he means that it is not loading past the Samsung log or the ATT logo for example. I was on stock rooted 4.3 as well and tried flashing other roms as well and soft bricked my phone in the process.
I ended up with two choices, load only 4.3 (The STOCK MOD v4 install worked for me just fine - but I was trying to get out of 4.3 tbh) Tried several other roms and all would end in a soft brick.
Finally landed on a stock 4.1.2 UCMG2 rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388065
After clearing my internal SD and formatting it I flashed it and it worked (took a long time on the Samsung logo but worked!) the wifi is a little flaky at times but it always was on 4.1.2 for me anyways... the key I believe was that this rom did not have a bootloader and modem updated, which was required to properly downgrade after having had previously installed 4.3.
OP try it out and see how that works? Unfortunately I could not find a TAR of this, but luckily I was able to use a microSD adapter to move the needed files onto the SD card so that I could flash in TWRP.

If he was on stock 4.3 and tried to ODIN to stock 4.1.1, then he's gonna need a JTAG.
If he had tried to flash something via TWRP/CWM then it wouldn't have been an issue.

Aaaah OK! Thanks for the clarification on why
You do not need a JTAG service. There is a way to unbrick it of you accidentally downgraded your bootloader from 4.3 OTA.

As you'll soon discover, I'm a noob. I stupidly took the OTA update on my Samsung Galaxy S3 T-Mobile T999 from 4.1.2 to 4.3. Since doing so mine and my wife's phone (did the same thing to her also) gets in a mess after being connected to the car stereo bluetooth and prevents outgoing calls unless the phone is rebooted.
So to try to solve this, I rooted the phone and installed CM 11, so now I'm on 4.4.2. This didn't help the issue either and instead is worse at connecting to the bluetooth.
I want to get my phone back to the stock 4.1.2 rom, which I got from sammobile (PDA T999UVDMD5) or at worst back to the 4.3 stock rom (PDA T999UVUEMJC).
This morning I tried to flash T999UVDMD5_T999TMBDMD5_T999UVDMD5_HOME.tar using ODIN 307 but it failed almost instantly with an Fail! Auth message.
I also tried to flash CM 10.1 zip on my SD card using ClockworkMod Recovery v 6.0.4.5 but again it failed almost instantly (sorry I didn't take note of the error).
So now I'm back to CM 11. So any suggestions for how to get back to either of the stock roms?

If you are getting errors in both odin and cwm, it sounds like it is a root issue. In other words, it sounds like the apps are being denied access to root and therefor cannot flash. Both odin and cwm are able to generate logs so you can tell the reason for the fail. Personally, I would recommend flasing twrp recovery instead of cwm since it seems to simplify alot and is a little better for our device. Without knowing exactly why the flash is failing, i would just recommend to try and re-root the phone again.
Did you put the phone in Downloading mode before connecting to the Odin ?
Do not try to flash 4.1.2 ever. It will brick your phone.

You cannot downgrade like that once you have updated to official 4.3 firmware, no offence but why would you try it even after Perseus said not to? Anyway if you want to go back to 4.1.2 so badly just download a 4.1.2 ROM and flash it in recovery

Downgrade from CM11 4.4.2 to 4.3 on I747
I went from 4.3 stock to CM11 on my i747 but i didnt like the update. So i am trying to go back to 4.3 however whenever i try to install the 4.3 zip file thru twrp or CWM, it fails. As far as i know there is no odin file for going back. I tried to flash rogers 4.3 file through odin (thinking i would flash at&t modem later) but that also failed.
I would appreciate any help on how to install 4.3 once 4.4.2 has been installed on an i747

For One, you are on the wrong forum. This is for T-Mobile's S3 not AT&T. Second, Like @passtheknowledge said, you really need to do significant research and reading here on XDA.

Please Read through this Thread. For Future Reference, all Odin Files for S3 in general are looked up by unique Keyword Root66. That thread is the right place for you to post errors or issues. If there's no 4.3 image for your phone there, you can post a request as well.
For your immediate Problem, there is a an alternate ATT StockMod Rom by @saranhai Please see this thread. Pay particular attention to the mandatory requirement of flashing a particular modem beforehand.
Before I get to the point let me explain what happened. I attempted to root my S3. It did work up until I got to the point where I was ready to flash a ROM and it didn't work. I received the "status 7" error on CWM and I receive an error on TWRP that means the same thing. So what I did since I couldn't restore from a backup that I would get bootloops from, I attempted to install a ROM that was .tar or md5.tar through ODIN which only worked for original firmware (given in the screenshot). I have managed to install this ROM on my phone through TWRP but unfortunately it is for TMobile and somehow my AT&T service works on it. Here is a screenshot of the phone. I have tried flashing "aokp_task650_d2lte_kitkat_6.3.2014" that is made for the AT&T S3 but no matter what I try to flash it will not flash. I have already tried doing the "ASSERTS" method but it did not work. Can someone please help me fix this issue??? :/

The hybrid firmware thing shouldn't really happen but for some reason, cross flashing between T999 (T-Mobile) & i747 (AT&T) sometimes happens without necessarily causing a brick. I would suggest you do a complete stock restore to AT&T 4.3JB firmware (UCUEMJB). Thereafter, you can go back to flashing your preferred custom ROM. Since you appear to be able to get to TWRP, you can first, from custom recovery, remove all existing firmware including OS and then reinstall the stock firmware. It appears the bootloader is still UCUEMJB so flashing AT&T stock firmware shouldn't be a problem. Please see the thread below for 4.3 stock restore...

So in this case, I just flash everything that it gives me correct? Is the stock ROM still rooted? If it is not then what rooting process do you suggest I go through? If it is a rooted ROM. Then do you recommend I unroot it and root it again or take some other alternative method? I really appreciate your help

It's a complete stock image which will take you to as near factory condition as you can get. This means it is unrooted. You would need to re-root after (successful) firmware installation. Prior to flashing the firmware, please remember to use custom recovery to remove all existing firmware including OS. Once you've restored the firmware, there are several ways to root but my preferred method is SafeRoot. You can find the download links and instructions to SafeRoot in the thread below ...
