Kodi not loading anything - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok I have two firesticks, one I bought for myself and one I recently bought for a friend as a house warming present. I set mine up loaded kodi installed apollo build etc. And everything works fine apart from occasionally it closing on me. I went to do the same thing I did before but on my friends firestick and nothing would work. I can install a custom build fine but I couldn't stream anything, so I've cleared all the data from kodi and tarted fresh, this time I've not loaded any custom build I just downloaded the fusion repo and installed one add on in this case exodus. I go into exodus and I click on latest movies and nothing opens.
I've tried various different add ons and nothing will load anything. Has anyone got any clue why this is happening or what I'm doing wrong? It's driving me mad.

I'm sorry, but you won't get support for piracy add-ons.

[Q] HBO Go + Dinc + Warm Z Rom = ?

I'm trying to find some useful information about the HBO Go app for my Dinc. I have Warm Z 2.2 Nightlies installed and it works phenomenally. I love the rom.
I can't remember which date was the last time I updated, but estimate was around 5-5. The new Netflix app works fine, but I would like to take advantage of HBO Go as well.
The app was available to me in the market, I downloaded, it installed, I signed in... all perfectly fine. When I try to play a video it behaves as expected, and then after showing the HBO Go intro bit (Which I assume is preloaded into the software since it never needs to load) it won't load the video. It doesn't hang the phone or anything. It just sits there on a black screen with the loading circle going and going. I've tried on both Wifi and 3G and let it sit for a good while.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Does anyone have HBO Go running with the nightlies of Warm Z and the Dinc? If so, when was your last rom install? I really hate to mess with mine unless I'm confident of a solution as this particular rom is so stable and snappy with everything else I like on it.
Thanks in advance.
I've been running Cyanogen7 lately and been watching HBO Go with no problems.
I flashed the latest warm Z nightly build today to test this and installed HBO Go from the market. I had the same issue, the preloaded HBO Go intro plays but just a loading screen after that. I restored my nandroid backup of Cyanogen and loaded the same episode and it played just fine, so it definitely seems like a problem with the ROM.
Hope it helps.
I am having the issue on a different device but your post is the only other one I've seen on this.
I have a Huawei S7...it worked fine on Eclair, but I recently upgraded to Huawei's 2.2 Indonesian build (it's stock but for a slightly different device). HBO GO no longer shows up in the market, and movies on my backed up version hang after the HBO GO intro.
The market issue and the hanging could have slightly different causes though. I'll check back if I run across a fix for this.
I saw a few errors in logCat which suggested that some properties couldn't be read (or found). Have you done a logCat for this issue?
...I am having the same problem with MLB At Bat. ...not listed in the market....won't play videos when I sideload.
This is frustrating. Both worked fine before I flashed 2.2.2.

Netflix down

FYI, just updated my FTV to the latest CMW and pre-rooted firmware. Updated Netflix and gives me error NW-4-8. I go to Netflix and they have put up a banner (after you log in) that some devices are having issues currently. I was wondering if someone running the latest firmware (the updated version) can confirm if they are having issues (after they had the latest version working)? I am wondering if I did something wrong on my install....
Thanks.
Hi im on latest pre-rooted ROM by rbox and im watching the Netflix right now no problem.
*UPDATED* I exit Netflix and re run the Netflix. Bingo they are down this time. So you aren't only one so count us in.
PS. I tested run my Verizon note 3 able run Netflix and working fine.
PSS. Now my Amazon fire tv Netflix is back online. Very ODD!
Update
Netflix was working fine for me yesterday with pre rooted rom new update. I tried this evening and it's not working at the moment. I tried checking network says all good, tried signing out and errors. Tried reinstalling Netflix still no go. Weird how it worked now it is not. Error I get is code ui-113.
Update: got to login screen seems to be working now.. very weird.
Works now... Took couple of tries.. Thanks.
Using an AFTV from Canada and using a DNS service to view other regions. It was working yesterday but now having issues (got error aip-701)
anyone else?
Most of the times these issues are from ISP throttling Netflix traffic. The banner about problems streaming to "some devices" is up more than it is down I think.
Just to chime in on this topic, the latest update/new netflix app seems to have more connectivity issues that the old one, the old one was not perfect either, but I can tell you the newest firmware/netflix gives me errors on playback or startup/logging in quite frequently, I have 3 FTV's all rooted in my house. 1 is on latest update/netflix other two are on firmware just before that one, Netflix will stop working or give errors on new firmware way way more frequently than old ones. But it always works/plays if I switch to the other one. Hopefully they fix that
I haven't had any Netflix issues since the updated latest firmware. Been watching it every day.
For me, after I entered the login details, netflix app is crashing(basically it goes back to the page where it is launched from). I have created a thread for this issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/help/netflix-app-crashes-login-details-t2934865

[Q] Netflix issue

Perhaps this is a known issue, but a quick forum search didn't turn anything up.
I'm running a pre-rooted image. I haven't been a Netflix subscriber for many months, but recently resubscribed. Unfortunately, I can't get anything to play back. I just get "We're having trouble playing this title right now. Please try again later or select a different title". In the bottom right corner, it says "aip-701".
Thinking perhaps I needed to be on the latest image, I upgraded to the pre-rooted ROM of 51.1.5.3_515040320. Same issue. I read other posts saying to clear your Amazon app setting, and to clear your Netflix app and cache. Tried both, had to add my account info back into Netflix, but it still fails.
These same titles play fine on my wife's iPad. And my wife isn't streaming anything down while I am doing these tests, so it's not a concurrent stream issue.
Is this a known problem with the pre-rooted ROMs? An issue with FireTV's on Netflix tonight? Something else?

I did something like this and I rarely get that message anymore but Netflix is just not without bugs on aftv apparently.
1. Clear data and uninstall Netflix.
2. Reboot to recovery and wipe cache partition and dalvik. Then reboot system.
3. Install Netflix.
***some people add a step between 1-2 and clear data 3 times in amazon video then unplug aftv 10 seconds but I don't find lasting results there.

Thanks for the steps.. I did the clear data, uninstalled Netflix, booted to recovery and wiped cache and dalvik cache (something I don't think I've heard of before today), rebooted and installed Netflix.
Signed back in to Netflix and tried playing a video. Shows come up, including the show my wife was just watching on her iPad. Try to continue that episode, and got the same error message...
So, this didn't fix mine, but thanks for trying to help. Any other suggestions?

Sorry it didn't work for you. I forgot to ask, which firmware were you on before the update? Seems to me like a crap shoot who gets netflix issues and who doesn't, but awhile back some users swore by the fact you needed to do some updates incrementally. So if you were on say 51.1.3.0 you would first update to 51.1.4.0 before installing 51.1.4.1. The problem is I can't remember precisely which updates could be skipped without running into issues like the netflix one.
What I can say with at least a bit of confidence is if you were on 51.1.3.0 then you should update to 51.1.4.0 before jumping to the latest firmware (maybe even update again after that before making the jump.) But try to do a search and see if you can find that thread. It was a few months back but it was pretty lengthy and some users had useful info. If I find it I'll let you know.

I believe I was on 51.1.5.0_515020820 before I updated to the latest. There's no telling relative to the order I've updated in prior to that. I know I've skipped some versions.
It's not a big deal. My wife actually seems to prefer watching her shows on the iPad. If it's something for the entire family, it will just require a bit more planning on my part to run PlayOn and record the Netflix episodes I want to watch later on the FireTV.
My suggestion is to follow the rooting guide found at aftvnews.com to see where you might of gone wrong....Good luck.

Need a 2.3.7 ROM that will work with Amazon Appstore.

And Chromecast app.
ADR6300. CM7.2 which is 2.3.7 if I remember right. CWM 5.0.3.0.
A long while ago I handed down my old phone to my son. My wife did the same with her phone to our daughter.
Well, my son somehow did something to his phone where it "lost" all of his apps. Try as I might, I could not restore them even though the data was there on the phone, nor could I reinstall them from Play or Amazon. Did not have a nandroid. So I did a factory reset from recovery. Also, probably a worse problem, but the Chromecast app will not install either. Not from Play nor sideloading.
Now, Amazon Appstore doesn't want to install, it says it requires at least 2.3.7 to function. In about, it is running 2.3.7. They own quite a few apps on Amazon and kinda need this to work. Attempting to sideload the Amazon apk gives an error parsing package.
Play will not even show Chromecast via browsing, and when searching and going directly to it says it requires 2.3.7
I'm stumped.
I've tried a few different CM 7.2 ROMS I had saved on my cpu, they all do not want to install Amazon or Chromecast.
So I installed the Infected ROM (4.2.2) and it worked to install Amazon and Chromecast, but my son is annoyed the camera doesn't work properly and he can't force close apps by long pressing back, plus YouTube will not play videos at all, it'll just cycle through the loading circle, light up the hardware keys and repeat.
My last idea is to do a nandroid from my daughters DINC, which has none of these issues, and restore it on my son's DINC. Except my daughter's DINC is running CWM 3.0.0.8 and I'm worried about bricking my son's by restoring a nandroid from another device with a different, older version of CWM.
I just want some recommendations on a 2.3.7 ROM that will install Amazon, works with Chromecast and gives some customization options for the hardware buttons so I can set this up for him the way he likes.
Please, XDA community, help me out here.

Which otter rom works with Hulu?

So I just installed the latest nightly cm-11 rom found in Hashcode's thread. Everything seemed to work fine but Hulu and amazon video. Amazon video is just very slow though so I chalked that up to it being a real real old tablet.
Hulu doesn't play video at all. Outside of maybe a 2 second cartoon network sign before an episode is about to start. It just closes the app as the video is about to load.
I remember having a similar issue with a cyanogenmod rom on a nexus 7. I tried changing some of the HDCP settings in the developer settings but it still didn't work.
I noticed most of the new roms are otterx now. I rather not change to otterx since the tablet is just going to be used for hulu, youtube, plex and maybe netflix.
Just wondering if anyone can recommend an otter rom that has Hulu working?
Edit: I have tried a couple of roms they all just fail after the first boot after I install a couple of apps. All roms will eventually crash and not boot up again. If I rebooted before it crashed it would not boot up again. Not sure if that is a known problem or if this old tablet is just dying. It seemed to be working fine on the stock rom.
Just went back to the stock rom after trying like 7 otter roms. It stopped failing right away so not really sure what the problem is. Hulu didn't seem to work on any of the roms though before they failed.
