tmo version (925T)however I did determine that this breaks in call audio. A user in another thread figured out that if you root the stock kernel with supersu beta 2.71 it maintains call audio as well as wifi calling. Wana xposed module is confirmed working as well.
I'll try and post results later tonight, need to get the supersu Odin file if not I'll use the steps above, thank you.
How do you root with stock kernel and recovery.
I thought supersu is only flashed with recovery?

Stock KitKat Kernel
Info
You guys already know our G2's issue with LG's official KitKat upgrade. It forces us to use the new bootloader which is loki-killer, that means no custom recovery (CWM, TWRP, Philz), no custom kernel anymore. Right now there's no way to bypass that new bootloader in order to install those stuff. Anyway we still have a workaround to deal with that issue by patching the new kernel so it can work with the old bootloader (which still has loki support) thanks to @JackpotClavin, @Savoca, @xdabbeb
Upgrade to KitKat
For best experience with KitKat, you should follow these steps:
Upgrade to KitKat first (KDZ/TOT/OTA)
Root by ioroot25
Use AutoRec to have recovery
Then you can flash any ROM you like
*D801 must root before taking KitKat OTA
Return To JellyBean
It's real simple when you wanna return to your old ROM or your NAND backup (JB base). All you need is downloading the old JB Baseband and flash it, then your ROM / backup. You can find old JB Baseband here in @autoprime 's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451426
White lines issue
Some devices use different panel hardware (JDI instead of LGIT) and you will have white lines after using patched kernel. You must use those kernel with "_jdi" in its name. More info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52414185&postcount=122

A noob question, what if, after update to KK baseband an ROM, want to go back to JB.
Is it enough just to flash JB ROM/restore JB backup ROM or need to restore via download mode + JB's kdz file?
Quick question, since in the d803 canadian g2 on 4.2.2 i can flash tmo d801 basebands just fine and they work excellent, would it be a possibility for you to make a test d803 canada kitkat kernel so we can test with tmo 4.4 basebands?
Sent from my LG-D801 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Tried this with the G Pro 2 port. Works awesome! Uber stock Rom, root and recovery, can't be better.
So i just have to flash the KK Baseband ? ( I am on Philz with Stock 4.2.2 ) . Then just download any rom and flash via Philz ? and then i can go back to my nandroid of 4.2.2 ?
Do i need to flash the patched kernel as well ?
Question: when I have already 4.4.2 rooted I must go back to 4.2.2 and flash kit Kat with root and kernelpatch?
Send from G2 flex
Thanks a lot for this!
I guessing that if we flash one of the root patched Stock ROMs all we need do is flash the ROM, then the patched kernel, then reflash the recovery again. Once done it should all work as before?

Sorry to ask again: any change to get LS980 running with KK?
what i dont understand. in OP stand, at first to Flash the KK baseband.....
But when i Flash a kitkat Rom, the KK baseband will be installed automaticlly. Logical.
i write how i would Flash, maybe others correct my idea:
- stock 4.2.2 Rom
- root it
- Flash recovery
- install KK Rom (give enough on Forum)
- Flash the Special kernel.
- reboot
- Flash you recovery as u do it on 4.2.2
is that correct?

Nope, if you just flash your device's kdz (extracted system) or moded one, its not a problem. But it's a pain when dev wanna overwrite something in their flashable patch. Only Philz have no issue for KK right now.
@ ALL: If you're posting here asking for a guide, you're doing something very wrong, this thread aims to DEVs only. If your favourite DEV didnt upgrade his ROM to KK yet, or still using the new bootloader (lost recovery), you just need to point this thread to him so he can know all the needed info and update his new version with a working recovery and remove all useless parts inside.

Flashtool 0.9.16 by @Androxyde
XZDualRecovery 2.7.124 BETA or newer.
Current rooted FW version: 14.3.A.0.757.
Special features:
SuperSU integrated in system, FULL ROOT!
XZDualRecovery 2.7.132 BETA (CWM & PhilZ Touch & TWRP) pre-installed;
init.d support (read how to enable)
For both locked and unlocked bootloaders!
In the following guide I suggest you use an external SDCard but that's just good practice, you can use your internal storage or even an USB OTG storage device in TWRP if you like to install, that's no problem!... If you are modding and the likes, best is to have an external sdcard, just for safeties sake.
How to update to 14.4.A.0.108:
Files (Find them on the download tab!) :
For C6902: Download C6902_14.4.A.0.108.flashable.zip (1022MB) and C6902_14.4.A.0.108_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
For C6903: Download C6903_14.4.A.0.108.flashable.zip (947MB) and C6903_14.4.A.0.108_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
For C6906: Download C6906_14.4.A.0.108.flashable.zip (970MB) and C6906_14.4.A.0.108_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
For C6943: Download C6943_14.4.A.0.108.flashable.zip (1003MB) and C6943_14.4.A.0.108_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
Save them somewhere you remember;
Put 'C69XX_14.4.A.0.108.flashable.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Put 'C69XX_14.4.A.0.108_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Create a backup of your phone in TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard' (the internal storage!);
Flash 'C69XX_14.4.A.0.108.flashable.zip' in TWRP (if you notice your phone reboot during the update process, update to the latest XZDualRecovery and try again);
NOTE: do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
Flash everything in 'C69XX_14.4.A.0.108_Stripped.ftf' using flashtool;
Reboot to system.
The first boot will be slow and after some time at the boot animation you will see Android start optimizing the apps on your phone.
Enjoy!
@RHBH has created a deodex package for each of these releases. Check out his thread here.
Need some help?
@shem2409 has made a video guide to aid you in the update process:
Thanks buddy, great work, as always!
Known XZDualRecovery Issues:
Busybox Updater/Installer: If you have XZDualRecovery installed, un-install any Busybox updating app/tool as most if not all of them will install a version of busybox which does not support the lzma compression applets XZDualRecovery depends on. The version installed together with XZDualRecovery is very stable and I have yet to hear anyone complain about it's stability.
How to report errors:
Please, before shouting out "It doesn't work!!1!" or "I lost root!" or even "My phone reboots when remounting /system RW!!" try the following:
Restore any KitKat FTF using any means you are familiar with so you can try again.
Root it using the Easy Root Tool by @zxz0O0 and install XZDualRecovery, or
Install XZDualRecovery using option 3 in the installer menu (installation on unrooted ROM)
Then try to update again using TWRP.
If it still fails something from there on: LOGS!!.
NOTE: The important ones can be found in /cache/recovery and in /sdcard1/XZDualRecovery, pack them up and send them to me or attach them to your bug report.
Thank you

You could try to create a backup of your data partition and then do a factory reset from TWRP. This will not mess with your internal storage if you don't want it to.
Then see if it turns on again. Could be something changed in how it gets addressed in the config...

Issue is still there on the firmware 14.3.A.0.757 stripped by NUT I need your help man. I used everything on XDA, no hope.
Hello,
This thread just to share two roms I made from original kdz D80220H.
I've tested each, installed from TWRP 2.8.1.1, after wipe system, data, cache and dalvick.
Both can be flashed on 16Go or 32 Go device.
---
The first one is a pure stock rom without root and with the stock recovery, that can be flashed from a custom recovery.
Root and custom recovery will be lost after the flash of this one .
For the root, for my part, I let TWRP 2.8.1.1 do so by following, by accepting the proposal he made to me at my request to reboot system after the flash. I was so easily rooted again.
For the custom recovery, the patched kernel does not yet exist for this version, installing a custom recovery you would lose the benefit of the news that may contain the kernel of this new firmware version.
Download link of this pure stock rom D80220H open eur, without root and with the stock recovery:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001610945
---
And the second is the same, but prerooted (SuperSu preinstalled) and allowing to keep the custom recovery.
Custom recovery will be kept after the flash of this one .
It's prerooted and with 20D Knock code Cloudyfa kernel integrated (simple stock KC kernel, just patched).
This pure stock rom D80220H open eur, prerooted and friendly custom recovery can be downloaded here:

Info, explanations:
To have a custom recovery in the G2 in KK version, we need to have a downgraded bootloader in JB version, and a patched kernel for being able to boot behind this bootloader.
Downgraded bootloader, because KK bootloader was patched by LG to stop the loki exploit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292157, https://github.com/djrbliss/loki). So we have to use the one that is lokiable, the JB one.
The patched kernel (https://github.com/JackpotClavin/an...mmit/7b6187a0e5fb8ca59888cacf5f5b863baa8d1064) can only be produced if the sources were published, and it is not the case for 20H. The latest version released back to the 20D:

However, the latest patched kernel available (the one containing knock code) should work fine.
But if changes (improvements) were made on the 20H (I do not know if this is the case, and I don't think it is), the benefit of these innovations would be lost with the installation of an older kernel.
Note: It was the same situation with the 20f and the 20G.

Recently codefire team realized a new way to get around locked bootloader.
This system (BUMP) allow to keep the bootloader in kk version but obliged to bump kernel and recovery.

I just gave all explanations about that in OP.

I don't use it but if you look at the updater-script (in the zip) it just deletes apps (and .odex when need) in /system and /data, so it should work, i think.

Yes.. It did work. Thanks
Is there any benefit on upgrading from the G version to the H version? Is one more stable than the other or are they roughly the same?

LG G3 D851 Lollipop (T-Mobile US)
This thread contains multiple ways to get to T-Mobile's first Lollipop update, 20B. The 2nd post has a custom L build I made which has all the T-Mobile things removed (including wifi/lte calling).

Directions:
Must be rooted. Use PurpleDrake or the new LG root floatin' around.
Be sure you are using TWRP v2.8.6 or higher. YMMV with other versions. DOWNLOAD TWRP HERE
Be sure all apps/data have been backed up (Helium/Titanium Backup) if you plan on restoring apps.
Be sure to have an EFS backup. If you don't.. you can make an EFS backup in TWRP or using the directions in my thread.
1. D/L n' flash 4 zips: 20B BOOTLOADER zip, SYSTEM zip, MODEM zip and BOOT zip.
2. Do a factory reset in TWRP (Wipe > swipe)
3. Done.. reboot TWRP into Lollipop. Be ready to wait up to 5min on first boot.
20B Stock Images
These are the untouched stock images from the official T-Mobile Lollipop 20B update for the LG G3 D851.
System.img only comes as a flashable zip.. easy install and saves space. Loose images can be flashed manually or packed in a zip.

20B OTA UPDATE
D85110r_00-D85120b_00_update.zip
MD5: 204ca98458c4e2f14c35f6694f1f8b3d
This is the 10R -> 20B OTA update zip. Rather than waiting for it to push to your phone from T-Mobile.. you can manually install it as long as you are on STOCK 10R and have STOCK RECOVERY and are ROOTED. Other than root you must be 100% stock. If you deleted any stock apps that were in /system or installed xposed etc there is a very good chance you will not pass the updates system check before the update actually flashes. The update zip patches pre-existing files rather than adding full new files.. this helps keep the OTA zips file size down... and is also why ALL system files and your kernel/boot partition is checked before it flashes. The zip will FAIL if you have TWRP installed.
1. Download the OTA update zip from the D851 20B folder HERE
2. Copy the update zip into the cache folder (this is why you need root) then rename it: update.zip
3. Open Phone dialer > dial 3845#*851# > select WCDMA-Only -- DM/FOTA Test -- internal -- update
your phone will reboot then show: "Installing system update" with the lil green android guy. wait... done.
You will lose root after the update and be 100% stock again.
20B KDZ Method
T-Mobile D851 20B KDZ
To flash the KDZ manually read the thread HERE. Flashing KDZ will remove TWRP... you'd have to re-root then reinstall TWRP (if you even wanted it of course).
LG Mobile Support Tool
Download this Windows-based tool to update to 20B. This tool auto-downloads the KDZ and installs it for you. Install... run and follow the onscreen directions. If the app doesn't seem to start the upgrade try manually selecting: Options > Upgrade Recovery
@Chrishup has posted a rundown of how he updated using the Mobile Support Tool HERE.

Custom Rom
LGD851.20L-ollipop.I.UNICRON-iNb4TMO.zip
MD5: f1de51acffe17435c8172b4b0cd28cbc
This rom/kernel is not to be repacked or used as the "base" in your #yoloswag420 rom.
*This rom comes with a kernel so a boot.img or boot zip is NOT needed.
LGD851.20L-ollipop.I is a fusion of LG's 5.0 and 5.0.1, including some 20B bits. It has all things "T-Mobile" removed from the rom (except APN). If you don't need any T-Mobile features and want a minimal/debloated stock LG Lollipop experience this may be the rom for you.
LGD851.20L-ollipop.I's UNICRON build is most likely the final build for "v1". LGD851.20L-ollipop.II will start up when newer LG builds are available, most likely with Android 5.1.
Few Highlights:
Debloated
Stock LG Lollipop, no "tmo-ness"
Built-in PrimeTether
Rooted + Busybox
Updated Firmware
Ext-SD card Write Mod
Built-in kernel certified by savoca®
Supports @savoca's great mods:
on-the-fly screen sharpness on/off via Whetstone
display calibration with his KCAL Color Control app
Certified SAVOCA kernel is GPL-compliant

These are for the H815 variant only. Files are from software version 20G (Android 6.0 Marshmallow)... more specifically from the 20G Poland carrier-free version. Included below: TWRP-flashable stock rom, boot, modem and bootloader zips. KDZ and individual images are also included.
20G NOTES...
Improved stability for apps.
Phone usability and functionality has been further improved.
Android Security Patch = 2016-07-01
*There is NO anti-rollback qfuse used in this update*
Requirements:
You must have TWRP 2.8.7+ installed to use these zip files. Thanks to Dees_Troy as always for that. And, of course, you must have your bootloader unlocked for TWRP to work. Currently only H815 EU and (some) SEA variants have official unlock through LG's unlock page HERE. Please do not ask if "model x" is supported... did you unlock via LG's official unlock tool? Yes? then you can use the zip. No?.. then you should skip the zips and just flash the KDZ instead.
If you have a locked bootloader and want to upgrade... just use LGUP and flash the KDZ. Don't risk it with FlashFire.
Install Directions:
These directions should be used by everyone who wants a rooted 20G system.
Don't want root? Then it's probably easiest to just flash the stock KDZ using LGUP HERE... or just skip the SuperSu steps.
1. Download LG-H81520G-Flashable.COMPLETE.zip listed under the download section and place it on internal or external sdcard.
2. Also download the latest SuperSu zip (2.67+) from HERE [Thanks to Chainfire for his auto-patching boot.img version!]
3. (re)Boot into TWRP if not there already.
4.* Backup current partitions: boot, system, data, efs (backing up anything is optional but suggested)
5.* Up to you if you want to wipe data (TWRP > Wipe > Swipe slider) but not needed if coming from a stock rom.
6. Install LG-H81520G-Flashable.COMPLETE.zip (Install > select zip > swipe to confirm/flash)
7. Install SuperSu zip (Install > select zip > swipe to confirm/flash)
8. After zips finish flashing you can reboot! (if TWRP asks if you want to install SU, HIT NO!!!)
Please do not mirror my files!

OR
Use LGUP HERE to flash a previous KDZ version. KDZ will remove TWRP but easy enough to reinstall that.

Awesome! If I'm already running Imperium 5.0 and just want the updated bootloader and modem (currently using the 20d variants), I'm guessing I can just backup and flash the modem and bootloader zips in TWRP? No need to completely return to stock/install the full zip?
Potentially silly question, but I'd rather ask than end up doing irreparable damage.

correct.. there is no need to flash full unless u want stock(or stock rooted) lg. an updated modem/bootloader may or may not agree with the system/rom you're using though... sometimes things change where the "rom-base" must be updated to work with the new modem or bootloader. but worst case you just flash the old modem/bootloader back. If I had to guess though I think it should work for ya.

H815 EU version.
Mobile data properly working.
Well, about 5 hours to download H81520G-Flashable.COMPLETE.zip
I bet the download is going to stall...
It seems downloads.codefi.re is really slow, and no download manager supported.
After days of use, I can confirm that the version 20g greatly improves the stability and lifetime of the battery. also reduces the heat.
Using 20g kdz ITA on H815 no brand EU serial 601.
Is this kdz working fine in brand phone? If do not show a message about software incompatibilities
Does xposed work on this version? There was a time when xposed didn't work on stock marshmallow rom without them being deodexed. Is that time over?
Edit: yes, those times are over.
Please...mirror KDZ, thanks

Cm13 does not bring its own baseband, i dont remember what bootloader/modem i flashed last to my device as it was a while back, i think it was v20d, but i have same baseband as well, so i guess they dont do a lot of changes.

There's a lot of trouble with mobile data on CM13 nightly. Toggle on/off air plane mode is necessary to get your mobile data. After I made an issue in JIRA one of the ideas was that it was an outdated modem. In the mean time I've installed the Omni Rom (same baseband as in this thread) and there are no problems with mobile data. So it's a CM13 problem. The Jira issue is assigned to a developer, but it's silent for quite a while.

I run the same modem firmware and have to toggle airplane mode verry verry rarely, maybe once a month or so when turning off wifi. This may be some heißenbug hidden in the ril but in my case i dont care a lot obviously.
