T-Mobile T807T vs T805 - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've done a lot of searching and I seem to find conflicting information.
I have the opportunity to pick up a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE T-Mobile SM-T807T for a pretty good price. I have seen that I can install a custom recovery and root it. I see very few ROMs that list the T807T. Can I install a T805 ROM on the T807T? Some threads say yes, others say no.
I prefer ROMs like Cyanogenmod or other AOSP type ROMs. I like a clean ROM and I'll add my own stuff. I really don't like stock Samsung ROMs with Touchwiz and I really hate all the carrier stuff that gets added on the 3G/4G tablets or phones.

I'd love to find out, most of the other T807T users are not very helpful with explaining what they have tried. I am open to developing for a T807T i just need a test subject that can pull files i need and test builds and report with logs. It should not very different then the T805 most of the hardware is the same.

did you do this? I have a T-807T and Im trying to add a language for my mother in law but not sure how

[Q] CM11 ROM question

I have a TMobile Note 3 with 4.3 rooted using RDLV with KNOX 0x0. I am tired of the stock ROM and I want to switch to CM11. Here are my questions:
1) What's the difference between hlte and htletmo versions?
2) Can I use the htle version since it is being updated more often?
2) I came to Note 3 from an S3. It looks like there were more CM stable versions for S3 and Note 3 only ever has had night-lies..why is that?
3) With reference to the question above, How will that affect development of future versions of CM?
4) Will T Mobile's wifi calling work with CM11?
5) If not, which ROM would it work with and is it safe to use that ROM?
6) Which is the most maintained/updated/used ROM for Note 3 apart from CM11?
Thanks
PS: I have gone through the forums to the best of my abilities to find answers. Please forgive me if I missed one and don't forget to point me to the thread with the answer

I've been pouring through various forums concerning the hlte and hltexx, etc stuff. and have found no definitive answers either..
I'm new to the note as well coming from a string of other devices, honestly this stuff is kind of a headache.
I still haven't found anything very useful.. but what i've gathered is that hltexx seems to be the most common thing across ROMs that should work on our tmo variant..
but if you read this: http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/unified-builds you'll see that we will have to flash hlte versions, at least for CM.
Seeing as you want to flash CM, you'll probably be okay flashing the hlte version.
I have no idea if that's a CM specific thing or if it's being adopted across the board by various devs..
it seems that no matter what you do, it might require editing out the device check line from the updater-script,
just like from some ROMs for the S3 (haven't used that phone in a long time, though, so don't think that's a current issue, anymore.)
aside from that, I can't answer any of your other questions, as I haven't flashed any custom ROMs for this device, yet.
but, if this phone is like any other tmo phone, you'll lose wi-fi calling if you switch to any ROM that is NOT based on the stock ROM that was shipped with the device.
i.e. no AOSP or CM based ROM will have wi-fi calling. there are always alternatives to wi-fi calling though.
Thanks for the answer.

1) HLTETMO are the old non-unified builds. HLTE builds are "unified," and will work across networks, as far as I understand it. What this does is get more developers on the project for everybody since these devices--aside from very minor differences (I'd imagine the RIL, but I could be wrong) between Note3 devices.
2) Yes. Use the HLTE version. I'm pretty sure HLTETMO is dead...and that's a good thing. Things were a little buggier at first for the unified builds, but, they have gotten much better much faster and are currently better than the last TMO builds.
2) See above
3) See above...I can only speculate but I imagine that will concentrate the developer pool that works on devices. Instead of 4 (or more) disparate HLTE (or whatever device) teams of devs they will now all work together. That can only help things along. Again, only speculation. Time will tell.
4) I, personally, don't care about that feature but I do recall seeing some HOWTOs on WiFi calling on CM. But I highly doubt that will ever become a part of the build. That's not a concern of CM. They have enough things to worry about.
5) I'm an AOSP only kinda guy so I don't actually know, but, I'd imagine any TW based ROM will work fine with WiFi calling.
6) See #5. I wish I could help you out on this one, but, I can't. I'm an AOSP only kinda guy. The first thing I did when I got my $700+ phone home was invalidate the warranty. Knox? Pffft, whatever. Right now I can assure you that CM11 is in a highly developed form. It is daily driver status, IMHO. All the major stuff works and works well...and performance is top notch...especially with the ART (Android Run Time....screw Dalvik). Battery life isn't as good as TW roms, but, it isn't far off. The only thing missing is S-Pen features, but, there is another thread around here that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to recreate the utility of the stock S-Pen features.

[Q] ROMs/flashing advice for T805

Hi guys,
I recently bought the LTE T805 variant of Tab S - which I've already rooted and loaded TWRP onto.
I'm traditionally a Nexus/HTC owner and I'm really struggling to enjoy TouchWiz, only made worse by my carriers bloatware. I'd like to flash an AOSP based ROM to achieve a stock look/feel; but I want to retain LTE functionality (some comments I've read suggest if I flash a T800 ROM, I'll end up wifi only).
Looking for a bit of help with...
- What the hell is Knox and should I be worried about tripping it?
- What AOSP ROMs are available which retain LTE functionality and are rock solid stable? I'm not fussed about Android version anything based on KitKat is fine if it means I retain functionality.
Thanks in advance for any advice on offer!
Knox is a security feature by samsung. You shouldnt be worried about tripping it but you lose warranty. but sometimes samsung can fix your device if there is any defects. I was worried too but... I never had problems since tripping it. If your device runs fine and all that, your good to go!
There are no AOSP roms which retain LTE at the moment. I do recommend xnote rom as it has some touchwiz in it, but has a ton of features and you will still have lte.
Hope this helps!
The other less drastic option is to use a launcher like the google now launcher for the stock android feel.
Have you disabled the carrier bloat? I have a T805 and flashed the latest Hong Kong ROM and has no bloat at all.

Yeah loading Nova Launcher was one of the first things I did; but was hoping to reclaim stock notification drawer/quick settings toggles/lockscreen from AOSP Android too. Currently working through pulling the bloatware off now. Thanks guys!
Maybe rooting and xposed would be of benefit to you?
Already rooted - I've had plenty experience with xposed, but hadn't even occurred to me to go looking for some samsung/touchwiz specific modules! Good idea thanks!

Can anyone enlighten my view on this phone?

Hello, name's Mike, have been in the android side for a while and it's my first time actually owning an US version of a phone, the N900T (T-Mobile Note 3) running 5.0 stock TW. (I don't live in the US)
So please, enlighten me!
ROOT AND RECOVERY
I have tried to root it and did it successfully, however when I tried to get a custom recovery on it, I only got boot loops so far, tried various tutorials, none of them have yet worked out for me.
CUSTOM ROMS
Are there any current custom rom development for this phone? I've seen lots of KK roms but I was looking to get a stable lollipop AOSP like rom like CM12 but without crashes or battery drain. Does anyone know any good roms that are stable?
PORTING
Also! How do you port a N9005 rom to a 900T? I've seen some methods by flashing a BT+Wifi fix or something like that but it seems outdated and I don't want to brick my phone just yet.
Please, please help me out, I am really out of it. Used to Custom rom on a Huawei U8650, Galaxy S2 and on my G2, but this is harder due to it being a carrier phone.
Thanks for your comprehension.
Did you download the right TWRP? Get the tar file and odin it.

Did you check the N900T development forum? There is quite a few to select from. I.E. Slim

Sorry can't help you with porting.

[Q] I9505 Lollipop on SGH-M919 or impossible

With Lollipop 5.0 available for international variants such as the I9505, is it possible to simply flash that official rom, along with a U.S. modem to the SGH-m919?
I have read threads where CUSTOM ROMS are compatible with both the I9505 and M919, but not the stock I9505 rom already available.
Am I missing something obvious with this question because I know I am not the first to think of it. After comparing hardware specs of the two models, only the CPU looked different.
Has anyone successfully done this or has anyone done this and then needed a dozen workarounds only to get below par functionality? One of the reasons that I have not flashed to all of the current custom roms, is that each has "no Bluetooth support yet" or "Wifi calling not working." I truly respect the work of the modding community, as I can not do what it does, but I just do not want any more never ending workarounds simply to makes calls and texts. Flashing a rom? Yes. I run both T-Mobile and Metro versions of the latest M919 firmware/software.
Thanks much.
Bluetooth worked for me. WiFi calling will not work either way, no matter how official. Needs to be T-Mobile firmware. I think there is a guide to flash it in general thread if you're interested. I wouldn't do it

Thank you very much. I have spotty coverage where I live. I go from 4G LTE to no signal 20 feet from my house. I wanted to try Lollipop without using a custom, buggy rom. Many of the custom roms look fantastic and feel snappy but the list of "not working" and bugs to be fixed in next build is simply not worth it to me.

First Time Flash

My Note 2 is still my only phone since it was purchased many years ago and have stayed with android 4.3. Unfortunately, hardly any apps are compatible anymore so flashing is the only way to continue using my phone. I want to avoid bricking my phone so I would appreciate answers to some questions.
I have model sgh-i317. It appears from what I've read that N7105 roms are compatible, but N7100 roms are not? Also, there are roms which state tolteatt. Which roms are compatible with my device?
It seems a lot of roms are also now EOL. I need suggestions for a nougat rom that is stable and preferably based on touchwiz as I guess it is the only way the s pen continues to work? Or compatible with add-on apps, GMD etc? If possible, I would really like to continue using my
s pen.
Are there any other integral issues that do not work/disappear when you flash/upgrade from 4.3 to nougat? I know there is variability depending on the rom, but I just need to know if any other major thing is going to change. I have been unable to find this information.
Is there a way to continue to use Samsung calendar as I'm assuming gapps is going to replace it with Google calendar?
I just want to be able to continue using my note 2 for as long as possible. Obviously no one can know for sure, but those who have been doing this for a while would be more likely to know which roms/developers are more likely to continue to be supported.
I know people are apprehensive about suggesting roms, because it's based on personal preference, but I would really appreciate suggestions just so I can continue to use my phone, and if possible keep the features as close as possible to 4.3 though I realize many features will be changed/different. If that's not possible, I understand.
Just recommendations for the top 3 most stable/popular roms that have the least amount of battery drainage compatible with my device would be really helpful.
Can someone please just confirm the correct roms for my sgh-i317 device. N7100, N7105, and/or tolteatt?
Rom help!
Can someone please help me to be able to continue to use my Note 2? It is extremely difficult to find information as everything is being abandoned and I can't even view certain things on xda even with desktop mode. Just need a link to 1 rom for sgh-i317, tolte/N7105, that a person has used and knows is stable based on touchwiz/probably marshmallow so s-pen works. I would really appreciate it.
Tolte roms are what you want. TouchWiz roms only go up to kit Kat 4.4.4. If you need a newer version of Android, you will have to give up TouchWiz. You will lose some spen functions and mhl tv-out.
Need a link
Do you know where I can find a marshmallow rom that is stable and has any spen functionality?

I too am searching for a rom for my device as well and everything is pretty abandoned... I found a few when I used google search but their download link dont work.
I also have the I317 and didnt care to upgrade the OS to a custom ROM cos everything worked fine on it b4 but now some apps are not just compatible any more so a ROM upgrade will be better to give it more life time.
I'll let you know (with links) once I find one that works.
Take care.
Cheers.
Thanks!
I would really appreciate that!

I found the Resurrection Remix OS 5.8.5 based on Lineage OS 14.1/Android 7.1.1. it's pretty smooth and I've found no bugs for now.
It's for Galaxy Note 2 N7105 but works fine on my At&t Note 2. Below is the link to it's XDA page then you can download from there.
