Hello, I have an HTC Desire 820 single sim with the following features:
Code:
*** Software status: Official ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
A51_UL PVT SHIP S_OFF
CID-11111111
HBOOT-3.19.0.0000

eMMC-boot 2048MB OC

One morning, after I let it charge overnight, Android started acting up. Wouldn't turn on, blinking orange LED.
I booted it into bootloader (HBOOT), managed to power it up and then restart in normal mode.
I was greeted with the "Optimizing app 1 out of 206" message, which kept going on forever and rebooted my device before it finished.
Of course I tried to wipe the cache and data partitions, but it would still not pass the reboot loop.
Next I downloaded a new RUU for Android KitKat 4.4 (HTC Europe) along with an OTA back to Lollipop.
The KitKat install went well and I was again able to use the phone properly.
I should say that the Lollipop upgrade also worked. But as soon as booting again into it, I was greeted by the same "Optimizing app x out of y" reboot loop.
Until now I believed there was a problem with my phone, but now I suspect it's more of a problem with Android Lollipop, finding more posts with this issue. It's true I (re)booted the phone while plugged in a charger, but I'm not sure how can I update the software safely if I don'd do so.
What can I do to make the phone run on newer software than Android KitKat?
Did I omit anything while reinstalling Lollipop?
Is there something I am missing, related to my S-OFF and SuperCID, which makes the phone incompatible with Lollipop?
I had same problem with LP, 3 times I sended them to service, always change some parts, and reflash to official LP 5.0.2., After a few days got same problem again. After the 3 time service changed my CID to HTC__B25, cuz I had branded to T-Mobile, and reflash to KK 4.4.4, a week passed and it is all good. Try flash stock OS and recovery and send it to service. I think LP 5.0.2 don't like Desire 820
Mine had been to the service too. When it came back I was told that battery was reseated and ROM reflashed. Can't tell if this is true or not. But then the bootloop just happened again, and I'm a little upset because I'd like to be able to solve it myself instead of wasting time back and forth getting it serviced.

Ok I will answer my own question, after doing some research on this issue in various blogs and forums including xda, this is a common issue, some say when you apply the OTA 1.54.401.5 will bring this missing info on fastboot screen which is what happened in my case.
Anyhow nothing to worry about the phone is fine everything works, it's just for some reason the version info is not displayed. The only way to resolve this is to flash official HTC RUU 1.54.401.5 but that's currently not available.
Hmm mine says the same except the line for OS reads:
OS-
In other words, no "1.54.401.5". Looking in About > Software version, it says 1.54.651.8, but that doesn't show in the fastboot screen either.

What recovery are you using?
This may or may not be related but I had the same issue when running TWRP. I changed to Philz and the problem went away. I tried this four times with the same result.
Phone was working fine just not showing OS in fastboot
TWRP 2.7.0.5. Don't know if it's related or not...
Sent from my 831C using xda app-developers app
Same issue here.
Nothing to complain about on functionality though.
Waiting for S-Off to be able to update firmware...(I'm one of those who get the Whelp message in firewater)
Another one here. =/ Guess we all have to wait then.
Definitely related to TWRP. Don't know if latest version solves this though...

Well maybe. I upgraded to 2.7.1.0 and now the OS reads 2.16.651.4 (I installed the latest modded firmware as well).
Totally stock here. Have same issue so no fault of twrp
Sent from my HTC_M8
i also had this issue and tried various recoverys to no avail , however i recently wanted to s-off which was not possible with firewater so i used sunshine. To do this i returned to stock first , upon returning to stock all was fine again and i no longer had radio-invalid_ver_info etc
the same for me here ... no Radio, OpenDSP or OS Version.
TWRP 2.7.0.10 flashed ...
Using ARHD 10.2 ROM
But no matter which ROM I install I always need to turn airplane mode on and off to get a carrier signal after reboot ... anyone else experience this issue?
as i posted above , you should try flashing back to stock to correct the version info issue. Since flashing back to stock i have s-off latest firmware installed and custom rom and version info now displays correctly
Invalid_ver_info
My phone (HTC One Mini 2) displays INVALID_VER_INFO for RADIO and OpenDSP, too. But I found out that, when i boot into bootloader with no SD-card inserted, it says RADIO-1.101.1102.17.0506 and OpenDSP-v28.2.2.00546.0331. As soon as I boot into bootloader with SD-card inserted, INVALID_VER_INFO comes back.
I noticed this bug only after I had replaced the recovery with TWRP 2.7. So I can't tell exactly if this bug happened by updating OTA or by installing TWRP 2.7.
Besides that my phone is running perfectly, so there's no need to worry about it.
I need help!!
I have a Sprint harman/kardon edition. In the bootloader it says the following when sdcard is inside
RELOCKED

OpenDSP-INVALID_VER_INFO
OS-2.16.654.4

RADIO-1.08.20.0612_4

OS-2.16.654.4
eMMC-boot 2048MB

As I have simunlocked the device for GSM use, It does connects to the carrier but does not start mobile data services. Under selling when I try to click on tab to "ON" . Immediately it says "Disconnected because service is unavailable"
I've already tried going back to stock by renaming harman specified ruu as 0P6BIMG.zip and flshing it through sdcard, it does makes the device go stock but doesnt seem to fix the above mentioned problem.
I would like to point out, it was working fine before I flashed TWRP 2.8.0.1 and a custom rom. I noticed that mobile data was not working in that custom rom, so I decided to back stock and now I am stock but mobile data doesn't work along with above mentioned status.
Please help.
Thanks

After you installed Viper Rom did you wait and it didn't boot? Since you haven't updated firmware, first boot might take up to 15 minutes
It booted just fine last night but today I havent been able to use my phone at all it froze and now i cant get it to boot

Can't get it to boot meaning what? Stuck on HTC logo? Wait for 5-6 minutes and see if it boots
Getting the phone booted is the priority, not getting s-off.
Just flash a 1.5X based Sense ROM or GPE to get it running stable again. Or restore a nandroid. Then do s-off and update firmware for everything to function properly on Viper.
Also you have a Sprint M8... please install roms from http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one-m8/development ONLY
and perhaps post in Sprint M8 QA to get more localized support.
Sorry for posting in the M9 section when I have an M8s but I thought you still may be able to help with my issue. A couple of days ago my phone developed an problem where it stated that com.android.systemui has stopped unexpectedly, initially this went after pressing 'ok' a couple of times but now it's just stuck in a loop and reappears every time I press ok. I've looked online and followed the recommendations of clearing the partition cache and booting in safe mode, i've even done a factory reset but this still hasn't cured it. Does anyone know where I go from here? the phone is now unusable with the constant prompt, I only got it in September and have no idea what has caused the fault. I'd like to just install fresh firmware on it via my laptop but not sure how/if this is possible. The phone is on EE if that makes a difference.
Thanks

Thank you so much! It took me a good few hours as I was choosing to install the wrong zip file and I was getting a CID error but I got there in the end! Phone is now back up and running and I am now putting all my apps back on. Legend.
Well done
After running CyanogenMod 13 lots I wanted to get nougat as it had just come out. I hadn't made a stock backup so I tried installing the RUU on top of CyanogenMod. it didn't work and got stopped with 'signature error'. I still had an OS and TWRP but the /cache wouldn't mount. I formatted the cache through, locked my bootloader (as it said online) and tried again. It stopped on 'signature error' again but this time it had wiped my recovery and my OS. I am able to access through Fastboot. I also tried the marshmallow RUU but that didn't work with 'signature error'.
In download mode it says:
*** RELOCKED ***

And that is exactly why you needed to make a backup as soon as you rooted it.
See flippy's thread in the general section and do a lot of reading before you try anything else and hard brick the phone.
Maybe, if you're lucky, flippy himself might chime in and guide you from here as there is a very high risk of a brick at this point.

I have looked around on here and on other forums but am unable to find anything with the OS-6.12.401.4 to help solve the problem all i can tell it has probably tried/has been updated to Android Marshmallow. other then that i am stuck as to where to go from there.
Any help much appreciated
What is wrong with the phone?
"Locked" in bootloader simply means the bootloader is locked, which is the normal stock condition. It doesn't indicate a problem in itself.

What recovery? How did you try to load it?
If you tried to flash a custom recovery like TWRP, you can't do that with a locked bootloader, by definitions (the very purpose of locking the bootloader).
But don't unlock the bootloader. You can install a complete factory image (RUU) using the following process and files: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
by upgrade i ment do an update sorry.
by recovery i mean recovery as in im guessing the bootloader screen where it says software status modified. i just used the volume keys to go down to it and pressed the power button but the screen just reloaded back onto the software statuts modified screen.
i will have a go at the complete factory image install and post back with what happens although hopefully the phone will be working again.

I see, you mean "boot to recovery" (and in your case, stock recovery). I took "load" to mean you were trying to flash or install something.

So it either sounds like you know what RUU to use (needs to match your CID and version number), or you don't and you are guessing you will find it. Not clear which is the case.
Did you find a solution to this? I have exactly the same issue with my wife's old HTC One M8, which had been left to go flat for over two years. After recharging, it came back on with exactly the same message (I didn't even have to switch it on). It's never been modified in any way, apart from scheduled OTA updates

I gave a solution. But the RUU may not be for the M8 version you have. You have to provide specific device info, for anyone to be able to help you. Lots of versions of the M8, each with different (or no) RUU.
I have not used my HTC one M8 phone for nearly 2 years.

Cool story, bro. But seriously, you didn't ask a question or tell us what you need help with.
I'm guessing it is stuck on the bootloader screen (that you typed out and posted)?
i have the same problem. My HTC One m8 wont boot into android and its stuck in the bootloader. Even if i restart the phone it wont go to android. I have a 6.12.111.4 OS version. Could someone put a 6.12.111.4 os version here, because i want to install it! THANKS
