I've a question for everyone, what audio apps are you all using? I got great sound from Xtreme Music but it absorbs lot of memory and makes my frequency stuck at 787 MHz.
The Z5 sound mod on the other hand has 2 options: Extra loud or Extra quiet.
Anyone got other suggestions?
I'm settled on z5 premium walkman port, nothing else,it is clean hassle free..
all the extra loud mods does nothing other than damaging your speakers
walkman( music) is the best

I agree a bit
Because volume controls are fine
It is a bit loud on x-loud enabled but bringing the volume down helps
Earphone volume can be increased slightly by using equalizer.
Doesn't v4a runs in background always? What about its battery usage?
Can u provide the link

This is the one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223. I haven't seen any noticeable drain, and the most I see it do is stay in memory. This app isn't that intrusive I believe, the only worry is you need SElinux set to permissive.

I didn't have to. I flashed all my files during a clean install, so the first boot would have them already. It seems to bypass the SElinux requirements too.

I have read quite a lot about this issue, but haven't found a solution yet. The volume output on my Xperia S is very low, but I know there is something which is restricting it from producing a louder volume because when I play a movie using MX player the volume is very loud and crisp.
How do I increase the volume through the headphones? Any fix/mod fr the same?

make sure that your phone is rooted,go to play store, download beats audio installer,it did wonders for me....if its still not loud enough
download poweramp, select the loud preset and boost the preamp all the way up
the reason why mx player produces louder sound compared to the stock players because it uses software decoding as opposed to hardware decoding which lets it bypass the inbuilt limit the same applies to poweramp
XS
try volume+ on the playstore, the volume 's good but the sound is not good :|
cheers :good:
Did you delete the sound level alert apk? I had this issue of it not going above half volume because I deleted the apk before anything else. I had to put it back and let it warn me before removing it.

Exactly my case. Removed SoundLevelAlert.apk and now can't increase volume with headphones plugged.
I copied the apk back to phone, installed it, but nothing changed. I still can't increase volume over 8/15. Rebooted - no luck.
It was a system app, maybe you can't make it work by just installing the apk?
Any ideas?
//Sony Xperia P, ICS
MX player can play audio files if you do a little tweaking in the settings. The audio quality is just awesome using the h/w+ decoder, beats any market player app in this regard. Hope they make a audio player. Poweramp was good but the sound quality was terribly unpleasant on increasing the volume so I ruled it out.
I have the same problem, but do not delete anything. Any idea?
Hm, I don't have these problems. I'm using the Headset which was delivered which my Xperia S or the SONY MDR XB-500 and I think it's loud enough.
My Musicplayer is PowerAmp. So maybe you could change your musicplayer?

I noticed louder music when bass boosting and all those fancy settings in stock player and poweramp are turned off
Acid Audio Engine v7 did the job for me and the sound quality is much much better and louder now.

The sony ones that came with it? for me they are ear blasting loud compaired to the Samsung ones I have.
The headphones are of great qualty but i find sony walkmans equalizer as well as sonys sound enhancements a bit lame at times.
If your about acoustics or clarity then walkman is up your alley but if your looking for grinding bass & hearing damage volumes i suggest third part app or flashing a mod or custom rom that has volume hacks included in its package.
Apollo combined with dsp equalizer is the ususal music player to be in most custom roms. I really like this player very simple an the dsp is just perfect.
For the xperia zl there are a couple sound mods that can be flashed but i have not found a significant difference in loudness when flashed. so i use jet audio. i tweak the equalizer from the app and damn is it loud. the app even gives you the option to have a 20 band equalizer plus loads more of features.
Here are the threads for sound mods . maybe you might find a difference in volume. I didnt.

Looks like u r used to louder music. So, have you tried some other headphones/earphones? I think you should, coz those which came with my Note2 were much louder than the stock ZL ones. Btw, I find the stock ones good & loud enough for my use (any louder ones give me earache) & I prefer using Walkman for music (clear audio mode).
Volume+ app will increase the volume for you.

turning on the ClearAudio+ solves the problem for me.
In normal circumstances, I find the volume to be loud enough with ClearAudio turned on. But when I need head thumping, mind numbing, skull rattling bass (sound purists die!!) (i.e while running or working out), turning on the Extreme Bass in PowerAmp is the only option. But then, the volume goes very low. On the Note 2, since there was quite a headroom until the max volume was reached, it was all good. But with the ZL, no bueno :crying:
Gonna try some Samsung in-ears and see how they perform. Will report back here.

If u guys want heavier bass (than default walkman) through in ear headphones (stock or others), try this app (no root req). It, however, doesn't increase/boost the overall volume level.

DSP Manager is ok. But after you try out ViPER4Android, I believe you'd remove DSP Manager quickly. There are other audio mods as well, but V4A is all I need.
Do you also notice improvement without using earphones with the ViPER4Android ? For me getting better ringtone sound is enough

When I play music via phone speaker, there is a difference in the volume when you have V4A on vs having it off (depending in the setting in V4A of course).
If I remember right, V4A also works for system sounds aside from the music player, so I assume that this applies to ringtone sounds as well..
Thanks !
I tried many sound mods like V4A, Dolby Atmos, Xtrememusic....but none increase really the 3.5mm output volume.
You can get more loudness thanks to V4A+Dolby but still you feel there are 20 even 30% missing volume.
Usually with V4A I boost the db in the end from 0 (normal) to +6db and playback gain control to the max on an HTC it used to boost the volume about +30% which was enormous (never used in real life only for testing), but on the G4 and whatever the kernel I used, these +30% are only there at low to mid volume steps (G4's stock volume steps), once you are at step 7 over 10 it will have the exact same volume as 10 over 10, meaning no gain at all. It will just use the max stock volume on lower volume steps :crying:
It looks like the G4's hardware or snapdragon is limiting the max 3.5mm volume.
I tested with my Sony SBH50 BT and HTC CAR Stereoclip BT modules and the volume gain is about 20% over the max volume (meaning 120%) so V4A and other mods can bypass the max volume on a connected BT from the G4 but not the G4's own 3.5mm output
Do you know any ways to bypass this limitation?
I tried Jetaudio and other apps using Gain option but the sound is bad once +1db over normal

In just tried the Fauxsound as my kernel is Superex, and yes it's better than V4A, at least we clearly gain volume with it, I set it at +2 or +3db because more than that the sound quality is deteriorating.
I even disabled V4A as it was doing some parasites once Fauxsound is boosted.
So I think I can say no for a Fiio E6, I wanted this small boost for the incoming ski days

I really don't understand all your doubts about VA4 and volume sound...
I've installed in several phones and with a good profile effect, the sound is fantastic and I only can listen to music with the volume at 25/30%.
If kernel support audio you also increase sound loundeness wit faux app or simple kernel teak tool like kernel adiutor, sypnase or trickster.

I am on genysis 3.5 with the superxe kernel and v4a definitely works. I would suggest looking at the driver status in v4a and verify that it is set up properly.
If you try v4a again, you might be interested in the convolver Dolby pro logic 2 IRS profile. I think that would give you the volume boost you are looking for.

False.
Following the exact tutorial I posted there is a *very* real difference in max volume when editing the mixer paths. I've repeated it many times on my 5.1 H812 from stock.
The unfortunate problem is the distortion that comes with upping it too much, so the gain is noticeable but you're not able to boost it too high. It's very limited by the hardware. My S3 still sounds a lot better, and it goes louder... bah.

Boy, I sure wish this were an option for the H811 variant. I can't find any kernel that supports fauxsound. This low gain output kills me. I used to have a V10 with the same chipset and that thing would go incredibly loud. This is so disappointing.
Hi Everyone,
Is it just me or the sound quality after updating to Nougat has really gone down (that we need upgrades like A.R.I.S.E or Divine beats?). Earlier I noticed that we used to have a simple mod for any sound i.e. Viper4Android, which is still MOTHER OF ALL SOUND MODs for me .
I noticed that the audio playback is having VERY MUFFLED bass through my home theatre system over the same bluetooth connection while playing with MM ROM. I tried rolling back to MM and things work perfectly. I wish to stay on Nougat for obvious advantages of the newer UI, better battery & performance but would still like to see if anyone can port the lib from MM to N?
I don't essentially want to install ARISE or Divine Beats; for me Viper4Android is just fine and I would love if it works just the way it used to on MM.
PS: I bought my home theatre after tweaking Viper v2.5.0.5 on MM and the same is not working after updating to N.... any help is appreciated.

The sound libraries have DEFINITELY changed in the system which are truly worse than Marshmallow!
I certainly need someone's help in getting them Ported back or else I have no other option other than rolling back to MM (since I spend 4-5 hrs/day on music). :crying:

Viper4Android and Divine beats/A.R.I.S.E are completely different. Divine beats and arise change your music first without you going into the app to change things. When I installed freedomOS with Divine beats, I notice my bass was extremely overpowered and everything just sounded like crap.... I really don't understand people's music choices sometimes. All these sound mods just make the phone sound like crap, especially since the OP3 already has a much warmer profile, meaning the bass and highs are very pronounced from the box

Exactly my point.
Even though the sound out of box was very good, using Viper4Android would take it to the next level. But Divine/A.R.I.S.E fiddle too much and extort the audio.
Marshmallow sound libraries were literally awesome and V4A on top of it would just make it mind blowing. Don't know how to get that same experience without going back from Nougat. :'(

Well you can install freedomOS without the Divine beats and what not, install Blu_spark kernel and set it to SElinux to permissive. Then you can install Viper4Android on its own and you'll have some nice audio.

I strongly recommend against this. Just install Magisk or use something that comes with Magisk preinstalled and install the Viper4Android from the Magisk repo / Magisk module. There is also one for Dolby Atmos. That way you don't have to mess with SELinux or modify system files.
Nah...Didn't go well.

I have the EXACT same issue. I can't believe OnePlus went ahead and did this. Who do I tell?

I beg to differ from your opinion here though.
After trying out 4 different Nougat based ROMs and 4 different Marshmallow based ROMs (yeah....took a lot of time with clean installation and stuff), I easily infer that OP3 Nougat ROMs have REALLY POOR sound libraries. Viper4Android alone works well with Marshmallow based ROMs (and using it with A.R.I.S.E/Divine Beats/etc. makes it even better) and bass doesn't distort at all (saved a few Viper Profiles and re-used them between ROMs). But the same profile in Viper on Nougat sounds just CRAP!!
Don't know what the solution here. Just wish there was some way to find out what is it that is causing this to happen? Which part of sound library or which file? Can anyone help?
