What you need to do is download the latest ODIN software, then install all the drivers on your computer for you phone (through Samsung website / support), then head over to this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63431559 and download the files and follow the instructions and you will be good to go. BTW, I hope that you backed up everything before you attempted root because you will have a fresh clean OS when this is done. Hope this helps. Take care.

For people wanting to unlock there Note 2 SGH-I317 but can't due to being on 4.3 MK6 (OTA) or you just hate KNOX and want to kill it here's a guide on how to do so.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PHONE BLOWS UP, KILLS JUSTIN BIEBER OR BRICKS. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!
Ill try to make it as simple as possible with step by step instructions
STEP 1: Download the 4.1.1 LJ2 firmware from Sammobile and extract to Desktop or somewhere convenient (need and account)
STEP 2: Download Odin 3.07 or your preferred choice, open Odin
STEP 3: Put your Note 2 in Download Mode and plug into a RELIABLE usb port and a RELIABLE usb cable (preferably the white Samsung cable) and wait for it to show up in Odin (COM5 or something like that)
STEP 4: Click the PDA slot in Odin and locate the LJ2 4.1.1 firmware and wait for it to verify, it may look like the program freezes but its just verifying the md5 firmware.
BEFORE ANYTHING MAKE SURE IN THE OPTION AREA ONLY AUTO REBOOT AND F.RESET TIME ARE CHECKED!!!
STEP 5: Click START and wait. After a while Odin should say RESET in the BOX above the Option area
Did you notice that you note doesn't boot after a while?? This is because of left over 4.3 file not letting the system boot. Pull the battery and let the phone sit for a few seconds, pop the battery in and boot into stock recovery (HOLD VOL UP+HOME+POWER) and do a FACTORY RESET then reboot.
STEP 6: SUCESS!! If you did everything right your phone should boot into 4.1.1.
Click thanks if this helped you get unlocked and murder KNOX.
Wait, what! ? You found a way to back step from the official 4.3 ota update? I'll be giving this a try after the 25th when I have the extra time.
Did you thank your Developer today?

i DID!!! And i am bricked!! It says now (in download mode) knox warranty void:1. It is NOT booting...........pretty much nothing I can do with my phone now!!
I was supposed to get home yesterday, but I didn't get home until a few minutes ago. I will try these directions. Stand by.
I would advise against trying this, but hey, if you want to risk ruining your device, that's your decision..
My device was already ruined, and I now have a Note 3. So I am doing this to help you guys.

Did you even read this thread before posting this??? SERIOUSLY. I JUST CONFIRMED IT. ONE POST ABOVE.
When I go to the system flash screen it does indeed seem to void the Knox warranty since the value is now 1.

Sort of.
We have a back step process BUT It DOES seem to void your knox warranty because even on 4.1.1 if I do the three finger salute, it says knox warranty = 1. So it does still blow the e-fuze.
I realize most people on here probably won't care about this, but in the interest of full disclosure I wanted to put it out there.

Hello Folks,
Nice site you have here I've heard it said that hacking is the new avant garde.
I have a: Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. GT-I9195 4.2.2. I got it here new in Germany a month ago.
A week ago, I tried to install Lollipop and didn't really understand what I was doing. Something seems to have gone wrong.
Now when I switch the mobile on, the Galaxy Logo appears but also a little yellow text message: "Set Warranty Bit : kernel" at the top of the screen. After this the mobile does nothing except display this message.
As I understand it, I should have 'rooted' the mobile first before trying to flash Lollipop via Odin. Correct?
Also, as I now understand it, I should have placed Lollipop on the SD card before trying to flash the mobile with Lollipop. correct?
I'm totally new at this and would appreciate it if someone can help direct me towards getting the mobile working again? And if I could run a better version of software I'd be thrilled!
Kind regards...

Hi there, according to my understanding if you have bought the phone recently, the stock version should have been 4.4.2. But anyways, u cannot flash Lollipop via odin. U need a custom recovery like cwm or TWRP for that. Not sure about the "set warranty bit" thing. May be KNOX has been tripped. At this moment i would suggest you to download a fresh firmware, from SAMMOBILE, to your to PC. Then flash it via ODIN. Thanks.

Hello Matesurano! Thank you for your help!
Hi there, according to my understanding if you have bought the phone recently, the stock version should have been 4.4.2.
- Yes you are correct. It's is actually 4.4.2
But anyways, u cannot flash Lollipop via odin. U need a custom recovery like cwm or TWRP for that.
- Thank you for this info. I was not aware that this was the procedure. I will somehow look into this method.
May be KNOX has been tripped
- Yes, I believe that Knox has been tripped. Mobile screen reads:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9195
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0x30
BOOTLOADER AP SWREV: 2
WRITE PROTECTED; ENABLED
Using Odin I've tried to flash these files but had no luck in getting the mobile to boot up and work.
I9195_stock_recovery.tar
I9505XXUBMEA_I9505OXABMEA_DBT.zip
I9505XXUHOB7_I9505YBTHOB7_DBT.zip

NZC-I9195XXUCOC2-20150513152200.zip
I9505_pit_file.zip
If somebody knows how to get this phone running I would be so happy!
Kind regards,
Jona
Check the file names of the rom you are trying to flash via Odin as they do not match your phone model. You are flashing the wrong version of firmware by the looks of it
Lol, aren't those .zip files for the jfltexx?

To this moment there is no official lollipop firmware for the galaxy s4 mini, however you can always use something else like cyanogenmod (i personalidade dont like it).
Here is a download link for KitKat official release.

Good morning Yilun,
Thank you for your help and your suggestion at SamMobile
When I check that link you gave I see that it is a UK firmware. I am in Germany and see that a 'Germany (E-Plus)' firmware is available for download and since that is the carrier my mobile is from I will go with that one. I hope it will work!
I will not be able to have access to a Windows computer until Friday but will try to flash the mobile then and report back my success.
RuffBuster, I appreciate you trying to help but if you can do give more info next time in the way that Yilun has then that would be more beneficial to the people you are trying to help. some extra direction can go a long way.
Thank you to everyone on this forum

To much effort for people who do to little reading... you shouldn't attempt any kind of flashing without doing the appropriate research. I spent weeks researching before I did anything with my phone.
And 2 seconds with Google you would have found this website. "Samsung firmware" and voilĂ the first search result.
Next time don't be lame and tell me what I "should" of done. Just be thankful I answered at all...
RuffBuster, Your answer contained no useful info. If you are not able to actually elaborate on the help you think you are giving then you are not actually helping anyone. Seems like you just want to give half answers to stroke your ego and collect posting points or something. Tell you what though, how about you do yourself a favour and go outside, there is a whole world beyond your phone. Feel free to write something childish back, I promise won't read it.

WHATS THIS?
This is my port of CF-AUTOROOT for the Samsung Galaxy TAB E.
You flash this at your own risk. Please ensure you have the stock ROM to hand downloaded from SAMMOBILE or a TWRP backup in case of problems. This will trip the knox counter.
Flash with ODIN 3.10.7 in the AP slot.
Load the respective file below into the AP slot and hit start.
cfautoroot_sm-t377p.tar
cfautoroot_sm-t560nu.tar
NOTE: ON SOME 5.1.1 DEVICES IT IS NECESSARY TO GO TO:
Settings -> Developer Options -> OEM unlocking
AND ENABLE OEM UNLOCK FIRST OR YOU MAY ENCOUNTER 'BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK' WHEN FLASHING.

That was my plan ...however they do not support this model number yet so its not available to be reflashed. I checked sammobile as well figuring I could download firmware and use Odin to reflash and same situation.
There's a chance the sm-t377R4 firmware may flash as it's practically identical to the sprint firmware just a different csc.
Okay....will try and find that one.
Hi, I had a question. The Samsung Tab E is my first android device (I am a IOS user, so i know how to Jailbreak, but I don't know how to root!). My friend told me to root it, but I don't really know how to do it. Can you post a step by step tutorial. Also, after i rooted can i update my device to a newer version or do i have to remove the root. Lastly, how do you back up your device? Thank you! I appreciate your hard work!

You can follow the tutorial below, it's for the Tab A but the procedure is identical.
Obviously don't use the cf_autoroot file in the tutorial use the one here. Also note the PDA button in Odin is now called AP.

You can update your device with odin anytime you want but not via ota.
To back up you device you need to install TWRP.
Search Google for info on using TWRP.

I tried the t377R4 firmware that didn't work. Any idea on where I could track down a copy of the t377p? Odd I can't even use the Samsung Smart Switch or even Kies as it doesn't recognize the model number. Or if anyone has a backup available they can share please let me know.
I have a US Cellular Samsung Tab E SM-T377R4 and I rooted it using the procedure below. The root process went fine and everything is working well except Recovery Mode does not work. It just boots to a black blank screen when I try to go to Recovery Mode. But that's no big deal to me.

Surprised recovery doesn't work, considering the 2 devices are identical specs.
Try installing Twrp, you'll probably find that works OK.

What's the issue?
Rooting gone bad... Rooted my SM-T377P with KingRoot and there is an FRP Lock that comes up a week later. All of the custom ROM versions I have keep getting rejected by ODIN every time I try to flash them. The only other way I can think of doing this is to flash the stock ROM for the device.

I want to UNroot my phone/restore my phone due to the fact that I believe I may have done something wrong in the process. I am on 5.0.1
When I turn my phone on, I do get the welcome screen saying my phone's unlocked and all but when I try to use xposed installer it says that my device is not properly rooted?
Specifically it says " The latest version of Xposed is currently not active. Did you install the framework and reboot?" When I try to do this, it says
"Xposed is not (yet) compatible with Android SDK version 21 or your processor architecture (armeabiv7a)
CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: could not load library "libdvm.so" needed by" /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/cache/app_process";
cause by library "libdvm.so" not found"
And I believe I had a very hard time (when rooting) copying and pasting the SuperSU to internal storage. Not all the files were actually being transferred over.
I pretty much want to restore my phone so that I can try to root it properly this time.
When the tutorial on how root our phones came out, I feel as though I rushed it from excitement without properly educating myself on what to watch out for.
Maybe I am only HALF rooted? lol sounds so stupid. but my greenify works and superSU grants access to everything. I just don't understand.
My last phone was iphone4 and jailbreaking that was easy. This is something else.
Can anyone help? Thank you for your time!

If you're going to root your phone, you don't want to take the OTA. You'll just have to downgrade to Lollipop anyway.
Use ODIN and flash the full firmware. 5.1.1 should be good. @hsbadr has a thread in the Development forum with all of the firmware that's available. It'll save you the slow download speed of Sammobile.
If when you go into download mode and you see "mode: developer," you're pretty close to root. Flash SuperSU and TWRP and you'll be there.

Can you elaborate a little more on this for me? Because when I first rooted I made sure to do EVERY step. Read the forums and watched youtube videos directly linked from the forum.
The thing I just didn't know how to do correctly was flashing the SuperSU and TWRP (I THINIK)
I sincerely just remember trying to copy and paste some files into system storage? something like that... and not EVERYTHING was transferring over.
When I turn on my phone I get the welcome screen with the picture of the unlocked lock with "custom" underneath. So I know I must have done SOMETHING correctly.
Im just sincerely lost. It's quite infuriating .

"If when you go into download mode and you see "mode: developer," you're pretty close to root. Flash SuperSU and TWRP and you'll be there."
Can you elaborate a little more on this for me? Because when I first rooted I made sure to do EVERY step. Read the forums and watched youtube videos directly linked from the forum.

Go into download mode. From phone off, hold the volume down, power and home buttons together. If it says "mode: developer" in the upper left hand corner when you get it in developer mode, your bootloader is unlocked. At that point you can pick up the instructions for flashing SuperSU and TWRP. You may need to flash the Emotion kernel... it's been awhile since I unlocked Lollipop.

Thank you for replying so quickly! :good:
Do you happen to know if this will automatically upgrade me to the newest OTA upgrade?
I want to stay on 5.1.1 so I can try to root it properly. And I've been delaying the OTA upgrade since day 1 and still doing so even with the supposed root I have on my phone right now.

As long as you use the stock firmware from SamMobile and follow the directions in the video, EXACTLY ......... don't take any shortcuts. You will need to join SamMobile to get the download but its simple and free.

Hey! Thank you for the advice!
I downloaded the firmware from @hsbadr ! Will that work? Or is it better for me to download it from SamMobile? I want to make sure I don't do anything incorrectly.
p.s. have you already rooted your phone?

SamMobile is very reliable but if you trust your source then you should be OK. I have done the root thing many times years ago but I'm happy with stock firmware and I need my devices to work without issue so I leave well enough alone.
Hi --
Old Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 running kitkat. I am using CF Auto Root to root it via Odin and I get the "pass" in Odin but then it just reboots into the existing OS and Supersu is not on the device. The instructions I have been following say that you should try again but switching off the "auto reboot" in odin. I did that, but it just remains in download mode. The instructions said to take out the battery...which, not really an option for the tablet.
I believe I followed all other instructions: I have the correct CF Auto Root file for my build; I have the drivers from Samsung ...
Any advice is appreciated.

So you want to keep that?
If not why don't you flash TWRP and Lineage?

Hi, and thanks for the reply. Big picture is that I'd like to use the tablet but kitkat obviously is now not compatible with most apps. So really just any reliable way to root so that I can make use of up-to-date/current apps. I can research TWRP and Lineage -- I'm guessing there's a how-to on here somewhere.
Tablet version: SM-t520.

And , obviously, terminology may be/probably is "off" here (newbie and all) ... but I believe there's a step before being able to flash TWRP and Lineage - whether that's "rooting" or "unlocking" or whatever. I'm basically still "stock" at this point.

I see.
Imo it's necessary 1st of all to make sure it's on latest stock to have latest bootloader.
Flashing TWRP with Odin is extremly easy.
Here is a post/thread although written for S4 valid for most others as well.
Written a how-to myself as well but the english part is not as up-to-date as the german is.

No unlocking necessary with that old device.
Rooting means having SU or Magisk but flashing works without as well.

Great, will give this a shot later today. Appreciate the help!
Well, didn't get very far. My understanding is that you have to unlock the OEM bootloader under developer options...which, ... well, I don't have that option listed once I've accessed the developer options. Tried a bunch of options -- factory reset, changed date/time to long ago .... used Smart Switch to check for updates (which one post said would prompt it to appear. Any options for getting this modded without the OEM bootloader unlock option? One post somewhere said that having the USB debugging option checked would work, but .... questionable.

Just use Odin to flash latest TWRP,
Reboot to that TWRP,
Wipe everything plus "Format Data"
Flash suiting ROM and test if it works
reboot to TWRP and flash Gapps fitting this ROM version (I prefer Bitgapps ARM)
Be happy
@tojotojo remember that Odin can only flash .tar and .tar.md5 files
TWRP.....img are to flash later in an old TWRP to get a newer one.
you need check off auto-reboot. it still in dload-mode, then press power to reboot and just as you see it starts boot press recovery-mode key combination to enter recovery. if you are slow, tab will load default system without ur root and recovery. i hope this help you.
