Hello Folks,
Nice site you have here I've heard it said that hacking is the new avant garde.
I have a: Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. GT-I9195 4.2.2. I got it here new in Germany a month ago.
A week ago, I tried to install Lollipop and didn't really understand what I was doing. Something seems to have gone wrong.
Now when I switch the mobile on, the Galaxy Logo appears but also a little yellow text message: "Set Warranty Bit : kernel" at the top of the screen. After this the mobile does nothing except display this message.
As I understand it, I should have 'rooted' the mobile first before trying to flash Lollipop via Odin. Correct?
Also, as I now understand it, I should have placed Lollipop on the SD card before trying to flash the mobile with Lollipop. correct?
I'm totally new at this and would appreciate it if someone can help direct me towards getting the mobile working again? And if I could run a better version of software I'd be thrilled!
Kind regards...

Hi there, according to my understanding if you have bought the phone recently, the stock version should have been 4.4.2. But anyways, u cannot flash Lollipop via odin. U need a custom recovery like cwm or TWRP for that. Not sure about the "set warranty bit" thing. May be KNOX has been tripped. At this moment i would suggest you to download a fresh firmware, from SAMMOBILE, to your to PC. Then flash it via ODIN. Thanks.

Hello Matesurano! Thank you for your help!
Hi there, according to my understanding if you have bought the phone recently, the stock version should have been 4.4.2.
- Yes you are correct. It's is actually 4.4.2
But anyways, u cannot flash Lollipop via odin. U need a custom recovery like cwm or TWRP for that.
- Thank you for this info. I was not aware that this was the procedure. I will somehow look into this method.
May be KNOX has been tripped
- Yes, I believe that Knox has been tripped. Mobile screen reads:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9195
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0x30
BOOTLOADER AP SWREV: 2
WRITE PROTECTED; ENABLED
Using Odin I've tried to flash these files but had no luck in getting the mobile to boot up and work.
I9195_stock_recovery.tar
I9505XXUBMEA_I9505OXABMEA_DBT.zip
I9505XXUHOB7_I9505YBTHOB7_DBT.zip
I9505XXUHOD7_I9505OXAHOD7_DBT.zip
NZC-I9195XXUCOC2-20150513152200.zip
I9505_pit_file.zip
If somebody knows how to get this phone running I would be so happy!
Kind regards,
Jona
Check the file names of the rom you are trying to flash via Odin as they do not match your phone model. You are flashing the wrong version of firmware by the looks of it
Lol, aren't those .zip files for the jfltexx?

To this moment there is no official lollipop firmware for the galaxy s4 mini, however you can always use something else like cyanogenmod (i personalidade dont like it).
Here is a download link for KitKat official release.
I CANNOT POST OUTSIDE LINKS ww w.sammobile. com/firmwares/download/46699/I9195XXUCOC2_I9195BTUCOC1_BTU/
Good morning Yilun,
Thank you for your help and your suggestion at SamMobile
When I check that link you gave I see that it is a UK firmware. I am in Germany and see that a 'Germany (E-Plus)' firmware is available for download and since that is the carrier my mobile is from I will go with that one. I hope it will work!
I will not be able to have access to a Windows computer until Friday but will try to flash the mobile then and report back my success.
RuffBuster, I appreciate you trying to help but if you can do give more info next time in the way that Yilun has then that would be more beneficial to the people you are trying to help. some extra direction can go a long way.
Thank you to everyone on this forum
Kind regards,

To much effort for people who do to little reading... you shouldn't attempt any kind of flashing without doing the appropriate research. I spent weeks researching before I did anything with my phone.
And 2 seconds with Google you would have found this website. "Samsung firmware" and voilà the first search result.
Next time don't be lame and tell me what I "should" of done. Just be thankful I answered at all...
RuffBuster, Your answer contained no useful info. If you are not able to actually elaborate on the help you think you are giving then you are not actually helping anyone. Seems like you just want to give half answers to stroke your ego and collect posting points or something. Tell you what though, how about you do yourself a favour and go outside, there is a whole world beyond your phone. Feel free to write something childish back, I promise won't read it.

I just successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using Odin and CWM Recovery.
This is exactly what I did:
- D/L Odin 3.04 and "cwm6-root-note2.tar" and saved them to my Desktop
- Extracted Odin and started the program
- Set my Note 2 to USB Debugging
- Restarted the Note 2 in "Downloading Mode" by holding down Volume Down, Home & Power buttons simultaneously
- Connected usb cord to my phone and computer
- Confirmed that Odin registered connection of my phone correctly on COM port
- Went to PDA, then selected "cwm6-root-note2.tar"
- Then I selected start, or root or whatever starts the process. And voila! Rooted with CWM & SuperUser App.
However, I might be returning the phone so I now need to know how to reverse that process and UNROOT my phone. Can someone please help walk me through that process? Do I need to obtain more files that were overwritten or deleted when I rooted?
Also, I thought, perhaps, I could unroot using the SuperUser app so I chose the option that said something like "Unroot.... etc." All it did, however, was get rid of Super User because when I restart my phone in recovery mode, it still boots CWM-based Recovery v6.0.1.4
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you for your assistance. Which link do I download though? Are they all the same? Or do I need to find the link with the country I bought the phone in? If so, I didn't see Korea on that list at all.
Also, when I do this, will the counter be reset to zero?

Hi,
So you rooted a LTE version, can I ask which version did you have (SHV-E250S / SHV-E250K / SHV-E250L)?
Is it meaning the rooting process of LTE version is same as the non LTE (3G?) Note II?
Also, what is the reason of returning the phone? Did you find something not good with LTE?
Thank you.

I rooted a SHV-E250L. The process went very smoothly. Especially considering I'd never rooted a phone before. So, from my experience, it seems to be the same process but don't take my word for it.
The phone is awesome - no problems at all. It was just very expensive and I was having a little buyer's remorse. I'm over it now. I was also concerned about not being able to use it in the US when I move back, which I am still unsure about. I have asked a few developers on here but haven't heard back yet. If possible, I'd like to flash a US ROM on the phone so that I can use it on the networks there and access the unrestricted Google Play Store... so, we'll see.
Hope that helps.

I dont think these will work with your phone. These are for rhe N7100. Going by your recent posts, it looks like you have a different model.

Brian,
I am living in Korea as well and I have a lot of experience with the Korean smart phones.
To answer some of your questions, you can use them in the states with either a Stateside SIM (assuming your phone is unlocked, you can get it unlocked from the store if you're going to be traveling) or a Korean SIM (obvious roaming charges). I don't think the LTE bands are the same in SK and the US, therefore you wouldn't be able to use the LTE.
In my experience (with my SGS1) you won't be able to flash a US or Int'l ROM on your Korean model. The internals might be closer than the SGS1 and it's variants were but I wouldn't do it unless you have the Note2 Korean ROM ready to flash back with Odin in the event it won't boot.
You can get unrestricted Play Store access now. You need to download MarketAccess. Google it. it Allows you to basically tell the phone what network it thinks it's on.
In the event you ever need to unroot your phone, you just need to use Odin to flash the official firmware.
If you need anything else, let me know...

Most likely Tegrak will have a kernel for this device before too long. You would then be able to use the Odin software to root the phone. The process is the same for both.

Thank you so much for the answers. I really appreciate it. So, you're saying for sure I will not be able to use this phone's LTE capabilities in the US on any network? If so, that's a huge game changer for me... I wonder what LG U+'s return policy is... I know I can just transfer the phone to someone else here in Korea when I leave and pick up a Note 2 in the states when I go back but I feel like I'd be losing a lot of money since the cost of the phone is spread out amongst the monthly payments here in Korea. Are there any phones that will work work both on SK LTE and US LTE?
Regarding un-rooting my phone, don't I need to get a hold on the official firmware before I can flash it with Odin? Or is it stored somewhere on my phone? All the official firmwares I've seen on XDA are for the N7100 not the N7105. Any suggestions?
Thank you, again, for all your support. You rock!

No problem, glad to help.
I am also looking for the firmware online. I haven't found it yet. PM me your email and when I find it, I'll send it over to you.
All info I have read says LTE is different. The 3G would still work just no LTE.
Idk what LG's policy is, but you could take it to Samsung a/s in the electronics market to revert it if needed.
Good luck. I might know someone who could take the phone of your hands next year if you want to go that route.

Good info here. But what about his flash counter? Will that be reset to zero by flashing stock from via Odin?

Flash counter didn't exist when I was tinkering with me s1. I'll have to investigate. I would imagine there will be a way to revert it. I also would guess the Samsung a/s could do it?

SHV-E250S problem.
Hello SHV-E250S/K/L users.
Does anyone know where I can download an official factory stock ROM for my SHV-E250S ?
I have an IMEI missing issue, and EFS file deleted issue. After wich i have a black notice on the screen and no boot logo or turn of logo, it just switches straight away after pressing the button.
No network or IMEI(((
I just came back from the Samsung official service center, and guess what, they can`t help me. They say i need to flash an original factory rom, i even brought them the two roms i downloaded from the: www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=SHV-E250S&pcode=0&os=1&type=1#firmware
And they said that these are not official factory roms, that they are custom, all thaw when i flash with one them, and go to recovery mode, my current binary changes to official. Don’t know why but everything else stays the same:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SHV-E250S
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (37 counts)
CURENT BINARY: Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
DON`T KNOW HOW TO FIX, AND WHERE TO GET FACTORY ROM((((
Would appreciate any help!

Hey all,
So I've checked as much as I could to try and help myself before posting, so hoping some kinds souls can help out with my issue.
Got a samsung galaxy s3 SGH-T999V on Wind Mobile (Canada), android 4.3. My aim is to root the phone, then play with some roms later on, but at least get the rooting part done. I started with this hxxp://theunlockr.com/2012/07/23/how-to-root-and-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s3-sgh-t999v-canadian-version guide, but the CMW didn't get installed when I went into recovery mode, just had the stock phone recovery options.
So then, went on to try pretty much the exact same procedure but with the root66_GLW_T999VVLALH2.7z..but Odin gave me the failed sbl2 error or something like that. Now i didn't have anything to backup so I didn't really care wiping the phone to factory default so I did so ( as well as the cache partition using the default android recovery menu.) But even still, no luck. When I tried again, it (Odin that is) just seemed to hang at the phase that stated "get PIT" or something like that (apologies I'm pulling this all from memory).. Had no real choice but to interrupt it restart, try again, back to the sbl2 error again. Doing this from a Win7x64 Ultimate OS (if that's relevant). I HATE the phone the way it is, I cannot stand the bloatware and I have a lot in mind to have fun with if I can ever get this bloody thing to root.
I think that's about all I can mention atm, did the usual stuff like try different usb ports, the phones USB cable 'seems' to be ok and working, I'm just beyond frustrated and finally at the part where I need to ask for help. Any and all help is deeply appreciated. Cheers
i also want help rooting my T999v version 4.1.2 cant seem to find a tutorial for rooting of version 4.1.2

If you're on 4.3 stock you'll have to deal with this new thing they added called "Knox". Also you cannot downgrade to older versions of official firmware if you have updated to 4.3 stock. Root66 won't work for you unless there's a version of root66 firmware that is 4.3 (which there isn't). Here's a thread that should solve this problem for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563955

Well then that's the Device you have. Anything said in Settings > Model is suspect. If I modify ro.device in Build.prop then My Galaxy S3 will appear instantly as S4 or Nexus 5. That does not mean it is one.
You always go by what's under the Battery and not by Settings > Model.
Hello, I rooted using this method: www .youtube .com/watch?v=GiZ7D2zjJdA (sorry xda wont let me post links)
The root worked fine all was well until I tried setting a font using a font installer, when I set the font the phone shut off rebooted and is now just sitting at the AT&T icon which I think is called a boot loader. I am running Android 4.3 which has knox and this bootloader. I can get into the stock recovery by vol up + power + home and I can "wipe data/factory reset" would this work? I just want my mistake fixed im so mad at myself for doing this I am not a pro at this at all and im scared of what to do, I really need someones help.... can kies update the phone and fix it? or can I wipe data/factory reset? All my phone has is just root, no cwm and stuff.
Please help someone!
Are my threads seen? Seems like no one ever replies to anything I post. Anyways I tried to wipe the data and factory reset and it did not work, I also tried booting into safe mode and still no luck. I need someones help please.
Thanks

you need to provide more information. What recovery your using and what version, what rom, bootloader version, how you rooted your phone, etc etc. Also, the search bar is your friend.
We all have lives outside of XDA we cant post a response as soon as a new thread comes up. Be patient. Like I said, do a little searching while your waiting for a response instead of waiting for someone to do it for you.

Please help someone!

did you finally foun your answer that you where searching for? if not i know a method to unroot the phone and put back to 4.3
email me if so : [email protected]
Since your are running 4.3, you cannot flash anything newer older than 4.3. Do not flash any 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 ROM as this will make matters worse. ATT never released a complete stock 4.3 ROM that could be flashed via Odin. You can try to debrick it using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068
Edit: According to another thread, DO NOT USE Kies to re-install the firmware. It WILL BRICK your phone.
Can you get into download mode? Has the Knox counter been tripped? If it hasn't been tripped, maybe you could get it repaired under warranty. If it's been tripped, you can still try to get it repaired under warranty. Just be prepared for Samsung to refuse warranty service because Knox has been tripped.
Hey guys,
Curious if anyone will spend the time to create a detailed step by step guide for all the people out there who have rooted and flashed roms to understand how to go back to complete stock with the ability to take OTA updates again. I have seen many people ask for this on the forums and have yet to see the same type of guide as seen on other samsung galaxy note mobile device threads on XDA. If I had the understanding to do this I would, but I do not want to steer people wrong. Thanks for whoever takes the time to post this info.
Please include US stock firmware link or file to download for flashing through ODIN!

Decent instructions, I have done these things. The question I have not seen anyone answer is why on every samsung firmware site, there is no official United States firmware for this device to flash in ODIN. They are all other countries. I have flashed the UK one before and it did not boot up. Had to go back to root and a rom to get it working again. I just wanted to set this tablet back to stock for a service request then root it when I get it back.
Thanks for the help

You can download from sammobile.com. Look for Cellular South - XAR under Product Code country.

Does anyone have a stock firmware of their S6 Edge T-Moible? that's ODIN flashable. I bricked my S6 trying to root it and had the KNOX security on. Now it just boot loop.
Jjgh

Did you try and flash the S6 file (non-edge file) to root your phone? For many that corrects what looks to be a bricked phone.
I did the same thing the OP had done, referring to enabling KNOX prior to rooting, and none of anyone's suggestions through the past multiple days have worked. Enabling "KNOX" under the "Security"
settings is a big no-no, or so it seems from the few that have done it. Might be worth somebody making a thread just letting people know NOT to do that if they don't wish for an expensive brick until a stock ODIN tar surfaces. It makes the phone bootloop and useless even when using the regular S6 autoroot tar. It's also interesting how nobody answered the OP's actually question, though. "Is there an actual stock ODIN tar for this phone yet?" I would like to know the same, even though my own research has come up negatory thus far. Focus on the dude's question rather than waste time with other suggestion(s) which they likely already know haven't worked.

Why would you enable KNOX when you are trying to root a phone tho ?

Thank You soooooooo much. that actually worked. thank you thank you thank you.
Thank you all for this. I would also like to know if this deletes all the user data/apps/contacts as well? I'm trying to restore the phone to stock so I can return it but as others have said with the root performed I am unable to hard reset/restore to factory so I am looking for a work around. Thanks in advance.
Yes, it deletes all user data, but the phone will have root.

Glad it was able to work.
So when rooting a T-Mo Edge first time, we should use the std S6 (SM-G920T) autoroot file, and not the file listed for the edge?

yes you use the G920T but that will mess up your recovery, so be aware.
After using galaxy s6 cf auto root file restore your recovery by following this:

I want to thank you for at least getting me back to a recovery mode screen that is readable and starts with the normal icon, that says updating system. I still need to wait for the stock SM-G925T firmware file for the S6 Edge to get back to a working phone. Deleting knox files as I stated in a few threads here is a big no no for now. Just get that bootloop on startup and this has nothing to do with rooting. Is the deleted files. Samsung support confirmed this too. I did try the factory reset which basically wiped the phone of info, which is no big deal. Plenty of backups. Just need the darn tar file for this model. I'm sure it will be out soon.
BTW, I was having issues getting on to any web link site Sammobile.

You are still unable to get Kies to work? Did you watch my Video and follow those steps? If you are still having trouble, let me know. Might be a driver issue or something.

ok...doing video. asks for my serial number. It's not the IME. Can't get to about phone settings. Tmobile has no clue how to find my serial number. Calling Samsung if they can match my IME. Maybe you can pm me a number for the Edge.

I want to publically thank you for your superb and timely help. What's funny is I'm on a MAC desktop and the Kies Mac version would not connect to my phone even though I have the drivers already on the computer. I use Parallels to boot to a Windows 8 virtual setup. Kies gave me the unsupported device message I think, but after going to the tools menu and following the instructions on the video, all went well. The only nit pick is I believe the Kies program called it the recovery mode to boot into, but they used the correct button combo to actually be in download mode for this to work.
Anyways....much thanks and for all those waiting for stock firmware for the Edge to magically appear, which I'm sure it will eventually, this method works. Word of advice to all.....go into your settings and about device and write down your serial number since it's required when inputting the model number. TMobile and Samsung incorrectly kept telling me the serial number is the same as the IME. IT'S NOT. And that number is NOT on the box labeling either. So without the serial number of your device KIES won't work for this firmware restore. A simple thank you to the person that know, for helping me with that aspect.

Thank you for this, and thank you for letting others know about the correct serial number used.
For anyone in the same situation, you CAN borrow a serial number from another device to get the download started just as Docmjldds and I did here. I gave him mine, and the download proceeded as normal. After the phone is flashed, it still retains the correct factory serial that came with your phone.

You can also get the serial number from download mode. When you first boot into dl mode and you get the warning page press the home button and the IMEI and SN (serial number) are both there with a bar code.
