Hello everyone i got an Optimus g pro e980 with a custom rom downloaded from here ( i had the same problem on original firmware.. )
if i pull battery out for example or simply just turn off the phone.. i'm not able to boot it again without plugging the charger and wait for the battery charge icon..
i think the battery has some problems as.. sometimes.. form 68% when i turn off the phone it shows 10% or lower...
i also have some random reboots some times.. it may be the battery?.. screen also flickered for a minute but not has gone .. thank you.
Which ROM are you using? Screen flickering can be fixed by turning off the hw overlay in the developer's options. As for the battery, try get a calibrating app from the play store, else get a battery repair app to see if your battery can be fixed. My OEM battery is broken, which causes random reboot since it supplies power intermittently.

Your battery is probably dead if it looses capacity like that, replace it as soon as possible.

Can't tell about random reboots if no logs, can be anything with this phone. Mine likes to reboot because network changed from LTE to H+, or just out of sheer 'I wanna mess with my owner, for no reason at all' Because annoying the owners with bad temper is good for business
For screen flickering - do as hawkwind212 said, or try with other ROMs (I'm guessing you're using CM if you suffer from those)

Stock rom xD .. also tried using a custom rom... i tried using a 1200 mAh and force the phone turn on... and.. it worked.. so the problem may be the battery.. and not the phone idk tho...
i wanted to know if the motherboard from other models (98x) it would fit with my current model.. i mean.. the touchscreen and other things.. to work properly.. some people said that any 98x version would work but idk ...

My HTC Wildfire often shutdown while I'm using my phone especially but not limited to browsing and visiting the Android Market.
When I reboot my phone after the random shutdown, my battery level drain out even the battery is full before the random shutdown. I then shutdown my phone and switch on it after a few minutes, the battery level came back to the initial level, i.e. 75%. And if I switch on with my phone plugged, It switch on with 100% battery level.
I first encounter this problem after I had installed Go Launcher EX on my phone. The problem continues after I uninstalled Go Launcher EX and using LauncherPro.
Now I had rooted my phone on CM7 and this shutdown still haunts me, please advice.
Do you use a cpu manager?
If not, please check settings/cyanogenmod settings/performance/cpu/ What does it say?
does it shutdown, or does the screen simply turn black, while the led lights, remain on?
to be honest here, it sounds a LOT like the power issues on the HTC Touch Pro2.
While that device ran Windows, as to android on your device, it seems like there might be a cross-os programming error on these devices.
could you also check if this mainly happens when you were suppose to receive an sms or incoming call, while also using the internet?
If so, i think i might know where to look for a root-cause of this problem.

I overclock my phone to 710Mhz and restore CPU settings on boot, Current governor is performance.

It turns off completely. Most cause of the shutdowns are Internet browsing and visiting android market, no calls and messaging were made nor receive that time. However, the shutdown doesnt happen when I charge my phone. So is my battery faulty?
I found that when I overclocked my phone shut down and randomly rebooted. I had to drop it below 700 for it to be stable.

But this nightmare haunts me before I root my phone, and it doesn't reboot, just shutdown
Then it may be a hardware problem. If it was a software issue a new rom should have fixed it. Have you got a warrentee? You may have to use it, but remember you may have to flash stock and s-on again or they might not accept it.

I had already purchased a new battery online. Just waiting it to reach my door step and I will check whether my battery is faulty or not. Thanks
ok good luck
I had the same problem with the phone i used before my wildfire, it's a SonyEricsson, have no idea what's the problem either
Using go launcher at the moment and apart from random restarts I don't have a problem like this. But then again I haven't played with the CPU settings yet. Also I know I'm a newb but you could try recalibrating the battery if it's displaying false statuses

Done battery calibrating but then phone shutdown itself during the process, I think might be the battery causing it.
I asked the sales person in a HTC store regarding this, might be hardware or faulty battery
I'm having exactly same issue. Did you solve it replacing the battery?
The problem solved!!
Yes, replacing the battery really does solve the problem
Below is the link to the battery I purchased. It's a third party extended battery with additional 200 mAh compared to the stock battery.

I don't know if a calibration would be able to solve your problem. I.e letting your battery be completely drained and recharge it to 100% while it's turned off, and do it again 2-3 times.

Hello, I would like to know what has happened to my galaxy w.
One day I wanted to take a picture in dark, I pressed the shot button on the screen, the flash appeared, and the phone turned of immediately.
When I turn it on, it shows that my battery % is critical.
That's the start only.
After that, I reinstalled my phone, as I tought, that should be the problem maker- but it wasn't.
THe problem persisted trough reinstall.
Now my phone turns off after a lil time, as an example when I use Youtube and watch some videos- it just turns off after some few seconds.
And when I turn it on, it shows again 50% battery(befoure 60%)
I think, the voltage increasing, which is caused by an app, or hardware makes the phone to use more power, and when it uses, phone thinks, that battery is empty and it just turns off.
After a while I'm able to successfully turn it on.
Any idea, what can cause this problem?
I've surfed the net, and found, that the flash could be the one, who caused this mess.
No other reasons, in my opinion, because in my observations it doesn't show that it's the ROM fault but hardware.
Maybe the flash uses alot power, and the battery is kinda weak(I've been using phone for almost a year).
Everyday usage- SMS,call, some games and browse the internet.
Thanks in advance, hope to see some advice.

Have you tried to change the battery? I have had this situation, which has helped it is replacing the battery.

No, I haven't, but it seems there's no other way out.
So, I'll try and report.
Hi all
After sitting with my stock SGS4 (i9505) for a few months I decided to root (as i had my N7000 and HTC Desire).
About the same time as this my phone began turning off seemingly randomly. At first i thought this may be a ROM/Kernel issue but I have tried a couple including Stock(rooted), Carbon and the GooglePlay Rom. The same thing happens for all of them.
Once off, the phone boots to splash screen then turns off. This cycles. I remove the battery and the phone will turn on, sometimes showing a SIGNIFICANT apparent drop in battery (90% reduces to 3% during this single on/off cycle). A quick charge and restart will often cause the rebooted phone to read the battery at 90% again.
The battery does appear slightly swollen and i'm curious if anyone could shed any light on:
1) does this seem a battery / firmware issue and
2) any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
Currently: GooglePlay Rom 4.2.2 PhilZTouch Recovery
Regards
Warnoceros
If you're saying the battery is "swollen" it probably is a battery issue IMO. Especially if you're having problems on every ROM you've tried.
Have you tried going back to stock to see if it's still happening?
Hi
Thanks for replying. I'm downloading stock now so will report in the morning.

Hi,
So, went back to stock (binary counter has moved up unfortunately - didnt read into that before hand). Was still rebooting. Have replaced battery and this seems to have done the trick for the time being. I noticed that the unit did not reset until my google accout restored apps to the phone so there is still a chance it was a bad app i suppose.
Most likely the battery though
Thanks

I'm experiencing sudden shut downs when I take a picture with my phones camera, especially if the flash is used. It just turns off without warning.
The battery has also started to suddenly drop a lot in percentage sometimes , and yesterday phone just turned off at around 20%, because battery was apparently empty....
Could this be a faulty battery or software problem? I'm using stock Rom and stock kernel. And have never had any problems before

Factory reset if it doesn't work, warranty service..

Same problem here, phone shuts down at 20-30% when LTE is on; after restart it shows 0%.
I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the battery
I had that problem too, but after update my custom rom that problem don't occure anymore. I haven't check it with almost empty battery, maybe I'll try it soon..

Shutdown
Hey
I'm having the same problem but my phone shuts down at 40% and won't start again. I have got a new battery and done a factory reset, but nether has worked. The phone is 3 years old, so change the system won't be a problem with the warranty.
Hi, I just bought a used galaxy tab s 10.5 and the battery jump from 20 to 99% in 20 minutes when charging . I started using it at 100% and it shuted down for low battery in 30minutes and I power it on again a it said 75%. How do you thinks is going on with the tablet? Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
Do you know if it's rooted and has a custom recovery. Clear cache and fix permissions in recovery mode
No root
It is not rooted and it have stock recovery. Is there an app to reset battery stats?

try booting stock recovery and do a factory reset.if that don't work than look into rooting it and TWRP so you'll have the option to flash something else or clear the cache and fix permissions
done
I did the factory reset and the permissions fix thrught TWRP but the battery still crazy. What more can I do?
I got the tablet down to 0% battery, to the point that it wouldn't turn on.
Took off the back cover using prying tools and then disconnected the battery, power cycled thrice by holding and releasing power button and then reconnected the battery and let it charge overnight to 100% and now battery life is amazing, don't have those drastic drops anymore.
There are no warranty stickers torn etc involved with doing this so you don't have to worry about voiding it. Just take your time and start at the microsd slot, open the hatch and work your way around slowly. Its difficult first time around because there is adhesive glue as well as clips holding it down. But still very doable without damaging anything.
Here is a link to a battery calibrator for root users
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vitula.batterycalibration
There are other calibration apps
Definitely other options before taking it apart [emoji111]
..
I tried with the battery calibration app and nothing. I leave you a screenshot , thats is WHITHOUT any charge, when it shuted out I just turn it on again. What is indexservice?
OK after ready the links below I believe a debloated ROM could solve your problem

List of Roms
[emoji652]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development
I will try a debloated rom because son process called index service is draining the 60% of my battery, but is rare that the tablet shuted down and when I tried to turn in on and it shuted down immediately for low battery, but and enter in recovery mode and leave it on with max brightness and it stay awake for 4 hours!! Even when twrp said that is has only 1%.

Post back to let us know it is after a ROM flash
Can you post a full screenshot of your battery settings. You just posted the graph. Not sure about the index service, but knox drains battery too.
Had the same issue crop up on mine. Did the the battery 0% drain then recharge a few times. And factory format. Now it just randomly keeps restarting (even when on charge now). Called Samsung and they have sent a pack to post it to them to sort I hope.
Now with the debloated rom the crazy battery drops have stop but I'm having random restarts. What's is happening now?
I know it's a lot of work and getting frustrating but let's try Odin back to stock .

Now with stock rom I still having random restarts and battery drops. I dont know what more to do and I dont have warranty.
I leave it all night on plugged in the charger and it didn't restart but when I started using it, it freezes up and restart.
Now it sounds like a kernel issue .I really dislike that cortex chip to
