I'm experiencing sudden shut downs when I take a picture with my phones camera, especially if the flash is used. It just turns off without warning.
The battery has also started to suddenly drop a lot in percentage sometimes , and yesterday phone just turned off at around 20%, because battery was apparently empty....
Could this be a faulty battery or software problem? I'm using stock Rom and stock kernel. And have never had any problems before

Same problem here, phone shuts down at 20-30% when LTE is on; after restart it shows 0%.
I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the battery
I had that problem too, but after update my custom rom that problem don't occure anymore. I haven't check it with almost empty battery, maybe I'll try it soon..

Am I the only one who thinks that is pretty strange this issue being reported a lot of times lately ? I didnt have issues with my battery before, but now I have the exact same problem with the flashlight. But when I use an app of flashlight the phone doesnt turn off...
Shutdown
Hey
I'm having the same problem but my phone shuts down at 40% and won't start again. I have got a new battery and done a factory reset, but nether has worked. The phone is 3 years old, so change the system won't be a problem with the warranty.

Hi all
After sitting with my stock SGS4 (i9505) for a few months I decided to root (as i had my N7000 and HTC Desire).
About the same time as this my phone began turning off seemingly randomly. At first i thought this may be a ROM/Kernel issue but I have tried a couple including Stock(rooted), Carbon and the GooglePlay Rom. The same thing happens for all of them.
Once off, the phone boots to splash screen then turns off. This cycles. I remove the battery and the phone will turn on, sometimes showing a SIGNIFICANT apparent drop in battery (90% reduces to 3% during this single on/off cycle). A quick charge and restart will often cause the rebooted phone to read the battery at 90% again.
The battery does appear slightly swollen and i'm curious if anyone could shed any light on:
1) does this seem a battery / firmware issue and
2) any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
Currently: GooglePlay Rom 4.2.2 PhilZTouch Recovery
Regards
Warnoceros
If you're saying the battery is "swollen" it probably is a battery issue IMO. Especially if you're having problems on every ROM you've tried.
Have you tried going back to stock to see if it's still happening?
Hi
Thanks for replying. I'm downloading stock now so will report in the morning.

Bad battery.

Hi,
So, went back to stock (binary counter has moved up unfortunately - didnt read into that before hand). Was still rebooting. Have replaced battery and this seems to have done the trick for the time being. I noticed that the unit did not reset until my google accout restored apps to the phone so there is still a chance it was a bad app i suppose.
Most likely the battery though
Thanks

Well try to wipe all data.
On the stock 4.3 i`m averaging 4h30m display time with 18h of up-time and 15% battery left.
I have: H+ on all the time, WIFI on all the time and location based on WiFi, auto-brightness on max level, Sync on.
Some app may be draining your battery or the battery may be close to it's death.
I tried wiping and factory reset, then I am not only on plain vanilla stock rom and whatsapp and chrome that's all.. I am having problems even with my zero lemon 9300mah Battery that is draining too fast I used to get 3-4 days easily but now it does last even one day.. Also my h+ disconnects and takes time to connect once I switch on the screen.. Any suggestions as to what can be done is it that the Handset motherboard might have messed up?

: Go to settings> data usage> press the menu button of your phone and tick the restrict background data. That's it! You will have a triangle notice on your notification bar but your problem will be solved. I hope it works for you too. If it does not work completely to your satisafaction also disable the great battery drainer Google+. It is usually the main reason for the drain among others.
Battery problem and Downgrading
Hello devs, I have rooted my International 4.3 and totally removed KNOX..
1*but ever since I 'rooted' my 4.3, my battery drain terribly doubled(all know that battery problm due to 4.1-->4.3)
2*I have disabled (many non- 'com.')system apps and since 4.1 my flash counter is1and status:custom!
3*my main problem is Battery drain, 20min of browsing till now took 3% but now takes 6-7...
4*Any SOLUTION?
5*Or I downgrade to 4.1.2 by flashing old stock rom and recover IMEI by Dr.Ketan MultiTools?
Plz help me friends, Thnx in advance
I am using XOLO Q100i mobile which i purchased two months back. Initially it was having android 4.2.2. Last week I got update for 4.4.2 and since then I am facing this battery problem where, the battery percentage remains constant for long period time and after that it rapidly drops to 0 and switches off.
I am facing this problem only after I had updated it to 4.4.2 (it was system update, i didn't do it manually)
One example case is, even after using browser with 3G internet for 30 mins, the battery remains at same percentage.
Yesterday I even did factory data reset but still this problem is persisting.
Any solution for this problem?.
Its not the battery issue. Its the common problem of android KitKat version. Its the issue of Battery Stat permissions. One solution is Using Xposed framework along with BatteryStat permission module installed. All statistics will be displayed correctly. But need to root your Device. Another check is What Xolo Power showing and what default android battery stats are showing.
Best of Luck

Thanks so much for the shout out.
Since the phone is still under warranty period, i haven't rooted the phone yet.
Xolo power is showing exactly same percentage as shown in nav bar.
Anyother solution?
Yes it's a problem but it occurs very rarely with me like twice or thrice in a month.

as far of other solution
Customer care support for cell under Warranty sucks coz Xolo care are too lame
Instead just root your device
And Xolo never checks if your device is rooted or not.
After rooting go to /data/system. Delete batterystats.bin
Do not charge your phone unroll it hits zero and shuts off automatically
Then charge it..
Install battery calibrator from market
And hit calibrate in that app after reaching 100%
Low battery wrong stats won't bother you again

Let ur phone shut down automatically when it's battery gets to zero and then connect it to charger to let it recharge fully without switching it on. Try this a 2 or 3 times. Hope it helps then.

Ok so I got this problem the phone randomly turns off and when you turn it back on sometime's when you go to Swype to unlock it it does it again until you remove the battery also sometimes when it powers back on it lost 60% of the battery . Running some apps do it also like camera and Facebook . Also when it does this rebooting thing it seems to lose things like all the stored passwords for the WiFi and Bluetooth stored device list . And the network also drops here and there . The phone was rooted and had different roms in it and never had a problem and then one day this all started with I had WiFi in the house but when I came back it wouldn't connect unless I put it on airplane mode and off .so I thought that if I restore back to stock it would fix it and it did but now I got this problem so right now im on stock . Any help would be appreciated.

Could be the battery is bad if it lost so much battery after reboot, running heavy apps like camera will also trigger a reboot if battery is bad.. Can you check if the battery swollen?
A very little but not really a battery could do all that??

Yeah except for the WiFi and Bluetooth, but seems like it fixed by going back to stock.. Don't know if you have a spare battery or if you could swap with someone and see if you can replicate the issue
Hello everyone i got an Optimus g pro e980 with a custom rom downloaded from here ( i had the same problem on original firmware.. )
if i pull battery out for example or simply just turn off the phone.. i'm not able to boot it again without plugging the charger and wait for the battery charge icon..
i think the battery has some problems as.. sometimes.. form 68% when i turn off the phone it shows 10% or lower...
i also have some random reboots some times.. it may be the battery?.. screen also flickered for a minute but not has gone .. thank you.
Which ROM are you using? Screen flickering can be fixed by turning off the hw overlay in the developer's options. As for the battery, try get a calibrating app from the play store, else get a battery repair app to see if your battery can be fixed. My OEM battery is broken, which causes random reboot since it supplies power intermittently.

Your battery is probably dead if it looses capacity like that, replace it as soon as possible.

Can't tell about random reboots if no logs, can be anything with this phone. Mine likes to reboot because network changed from LTE to H+, or just out of sheer 'I wanna mess with my owner, for no reason at all' Because annoying the owners with bad temper is good for business
For screen flickering - do as hawkwind212 said, or try with other ROMs (I'm guessing you're using CM if you suffer from those)

Stock rom xD .. also tried using a custom rom... i tried using a 1200 mAh and force the phone turn on... and.. it worked.. so the problem may be the battery.. and not the phone idk tho...
i wanted to know if the motherboard from other models (98x) it would fit with my current model.. i mean.. the touchscreen and other things.. to work properly.. some people said that any 98x version would work but idk ...
