Cyanogenmod Bootloader Help - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently Rooted my LG G4. I did it using the RootJunkys video using Download Mode and Coms etc
I am successfully rooted. Have TWRP Installed
(Never unlocked Bootloader) (Video didn't show)
Now whenever I try and Flash CM13 I get "Error Executing Binaries etc"
I read it's due to incompatible Bootloader.
Would my bootloader not being unlocked be the issue? If so is there any tutorial how to Unlock Bootloader.
Running 1110N Software Version

How did you even managed to install twrp? The bootloader unlocked is a must. But only H815 can be bootloader unlocked, if you don't have h815 you have to wait until our Devs find different way to unlock it

I used Flashify. To Install TWRP
For Root I used COM Port and Command Prompt while Phone was in Download Mode

Dude you are posting in the wrong forum. You are on old firmware you need to update to the new marshmallow firmware for CM13. Go to the T-Mobile G4 forum and follow the instructions in autoprimes 20i thread.

1. Flash the 10C KDZ using the "LG Flash Tool" and method in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848
(you will have now lost TWRP and root)
2. Re-install TWRP and install Supersu following the method you originally followed
Thanks..

And disable automated ota updates when you're finished if you don't want this to happen again.

3. and NEVER EVER take an OTA update when rooted or bootloader unlocked
I recommend after each update to make clean install
has anyone with the SEA variant tried flashing the Euro Open KDZ? They are both h815 so it should be fine right?

You don't say which model you have, but you do need an unlocked bootloader for a custom recovery.

Hey mate I have an Australian (intl) H815T from Optus, I've discovered you can only flash things like twrp and xposed through first unlocking your bootloader which is impossible to do on any version other than the European model so basically until someone works out a bypass for this nobody can install a custom ROM/Recovery or TWRP or anything else that requires an unlocked bootloader.
---------- Post added at 04:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:47 AM ----------
I did however "root" by using an ADB Shell to flash a V10c file, so technically I achieved root without unlocking my bootloader but unfortunately I cannot do any of the fun things like install xposed apps Also I can confirm that when someone bypasses the EUR only bootloader unlock, there won't be any downgrade to the camera. I too owned an Xperia Z3 and had the issue of basically ruining the camera but that was due to Sony using something called DRM keys which LG G4 doesn't have so we should be in the clear once a bootloader unlock bypass is found.

Question: Bootloader status and root for M

It may be a stupid question but I found 1 thing, about the bootloader, confusing:
When the M beta was released in the dedicated thread was written that the updating process to M locks the bootloader.
Now that M is released to root it we have to update from L to M and then fastboot boot twrp.img and apparently this command requires an unlocked bootloader (I've read this in a nexus thread).
The question is: if the update locks the bootloader how comes we need to unlock it in L?
What is the difference between a locked phone updated from L to M and a phone unlocked in L and then updated to M? Shouldn't both the phones have a locked bootloader?

Fastboot FLASH twrp requires an unlocked bootloader (that's installing permanent twrp) fastboot BOOT twrp (tethered twrp) does not.

I know that, but the command doesn't say flash, it says boot, so it's like (or at least it looks like) the tethered recovery we're using for L. Yet they say to unlock before updating, or downgrade + unlock + upgrade.

Ah, I misread your post. That actually is a good question!

Yes i also wondered why too(unlocked bootloader in L) but that was in description to have unlocked bootloader in L before flashing beta 6 MM to gain root or the script wouldnt work.
Not too sure if this is the same with new official MM maybe someone can explain more ?
I was about to ask the exact same question. Shakalaca method for rooting (Unlocked L > MM upgrade > root + xposed through tethered TWRP) ends up with a LOCKED bootloader (he say so in OP). This method works for OFFICIAL BETA (4.21.40.61).
Quang Boom's rooting video ends up with MM root and UNLOCKED bootloader.
Do Shakalaca's method works with OFFICIAL FINAL MM (i.e. 4.21.40.134)? Some say yes, others say no. I'm confused.
And a lot of people are saying they succeeded with a locked bl

Can you post the link for this video? Thanks.
I unlocked the official mm with quang booms files he linked in YouTube, rooting is then possible with his signed twrp...

Guys, after some research I came to the conclusion that is not possible in MM to have both root and a locked BL.
I decided to upgrade nonetheless, if some issue arise which would require RMA we can always downgrade and use the LP relock to get warranty back (the LP relock is in the asus forum).

Well this dude just made a video of himself using shakalaka's method for the beta (unlock android beta by shakalaka, 3d by samcjtsai), I just confronted the hashes for the files you can download from the YouTube page with those for the files from that 3d and they are the same, same method, same files.
But let's not make this a "how to root post", there's plenty of informations on here.
I'm just interested in the bootloader thing, if someone can explain.

Assuming that you unlock the bootloader, root the phone and change the splash screen....
Reboot the phone.....
If Asus logo splash screen is black your bootloader is locked.
If Asus logo splash screen is white your bootloader is unlocked.

Why do you want to unlock the bootloader?
For the time being, there is no way to unlock the bootloader in MM. May be in the near future.
If you want to unlock the bootloader in MM, you need to temporarily downgrade the bootloader to Lollipop, unlock the bootloader and upgrade back to MM by the patched bootloader.

No.
To upgrade to MM from LP your firmware has to be at least 184.
You can use OTA or download the MM from ASUS site and install the MM in ADB environment with adb sideload command.
Do not upgrade MM via TWRP. MM install package does not compatible with TWRP. However, there is guide to modified the installation script in order to work with TWRP. The guide was written a year ago for Lollipop .
If your intention is to use custom rom in MM then you need an unlocked bootloader with custom recovery like TWRP.
In that case you need to unlock the bootloader in lollipop before you upgrade to MM. Like I said, there is no direct way to unlock bootloader in MM.
If your intention is to have rooted MM, then you do not need to unlock the bootloader.
You do not need to install the TWRP. You can use tethered TWRP to flash the super su zip file.

I answered your question in the other post.

Idk how to root my lgg4

Hi new to rooting but anyways
I have a LG G4 and I want to root this bad boy
It's a CSPIRE phone and I'm on Android 6.0 I heard that you can't enter any recovery mode on Android 6 but I don't know what to do.
Please help me I'm trying to root it i need a step by step process!
If you need my build number let me know!
Thanks~
Is it H815? For android 6.0 you must unlock your bootloader, then boot to recovery via fastboot and then flash (or sideload) supersu. Or, you could possibly revert back to android 5.1 and then root via "low effort root"
