T-Mobiles Answer on OTA update!!

HTC Desire OTA Update Information.
T-Mobile recently launched the HTC Desire and the phone has been very well received by our customers. We are aware that HTC is planning to release a new software update and we are currently working with them to provide an ‘over the air’ update for customers with an earlier version. The update will happen in the coming week and we’ll keep you posted on any developments as and when we have them.

i think they are working on the .11 update for those who bought their device really early and are using the .10 firmware, because the new phones are already updated

Official gingerbread update released...apparently! [false alarm]

I have an unbranded device and it says no update available here in Germany. however, according to this page (http://top10.com/mobilephones/news/2011/06/android_2_3_gingerbread_htc_desire_desire_hd_t_mobile/) UK based T-mobile customers can update.
I must say I'm a bit peeved that a carrier update is before an unbranded one - after all thats one of the reasons I bought unbranded!

This update is for the desire hd, and for this phone the rom for unbranded phones is rolled out since beginning of april:

1.29.401.7 Firmware Update Out In The UK

Ok people,
Just been on to HTC and they have confirmed that the 1.29.401.7 is out in the wild for UK users.
I have not had mine yet but they said this... (has anyone had there update yet?)
Robert: Hi Richard, thank you for contacting HTC Support, I am looking in to your query now.
Robert: I understand you wish to know when the latest Android 1.29 OTA update will be coming to your device.
In answer to your query the HTC One X Android 1.29 software update via FOTA EU is being rolled out as we speak, To unbranded devices. The servers can only handle 30,000 updates a day so you will have to be patient but you should receive the update soon. If your device is branded to a network e.g. 3, please wait for the network to release their branded software. The update is only available ota (over the air). There is also no way of installing an unbranded update on a branded device.
To manually search for updates please go through the following steps as described in the link below:

Hi mate is your phone locked to Vodafone? This update is just for unbranded sim free phones at the moment, your network provider will release this update sometime later.

Looking forward to the improved battery life . Ive been told it also makes HTC Sense a bit smoother, is that true? Ive noticed that some of the Live wallpapers stutter a bit.

Nothing for me yet either on an unbranded T-Mob HOX.

Damn it, I just sent my One X for Exchange as it had a fault, oh well, I guess I'll have the update ready for me when I get another one back on Thursday, gives my fingers a break from mashing the 'check now' button.

Nothing yet, Im on vodafone but unbranded HOX.

nothing on my unbranded one as well, and htc said the same thing to me a week ago and nothing yet

They've been giving the same canned response for a week. They seem to think it's out here but it ain't. I have been speaking to HTC at a high level about it as I believe some mistake has resulted in the UK not getting it. I will report back whatever I hear.

The guy speaking to me said he had received his update yesterday and its a UK handset so im unsure mate.

I'm already on it - RUU
But, I've noticed:
Slight improvement in home screen lag, it's still there...
Much lower AnTuTu score
& according to HTC's own built in battery test, battery is worse than 1.28
I went from 90% left after the test on 1.28, down to 88% on 1.29
So, battery not as good maybe? & benching is much lower...

Just got this back from HTC manager...
Stay tuned....ill need to investigate and send a few mails. But it seems a bit strange. I received my update this weekend. But that was on a Nordic device. Keep checking manually. I'll keep you informed. Cheers

Not cool. I thought it was a little odd Europe got it and the UK did not.

Did T-mobile release 5.1 OTA yet?

I heard the 5.1 T-mo OTA was supposed to be today. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

No not yet. Everyone is anxiously awaiting word from Mo Versi on twitter that the update has been approved and that OTA will begin shortly. He had previously said he expected approval on 7/17 and release on 7/20 but it hasn't happened yet.
I am not happy that TMO has been holding this up to the point where even AT&T got it out first and they are near the bottom in terms of releasing updates.

I actually saw the convo on twitter.. I read elsewhere that since they are behind the 8 ball that they may skip 5.1 and just dive into Android M when its released. Of course this is all rumor and speculation. I asked mo on twitter today if there was any news but he didn't respond.

No they're not skipping 5.1. They are so far behind in firmware they won't skip 5.1 on a flagship device like this. Most likely there was some last min bug with a piece of TMO bloatware that they had to correct. That's almost always the reason...

That's the same article I read. It's not really a big deal to me either way. I'd rather wait a little longer and get a stable release than have them rush it out full of bugs.
Since there's been a bit of a slow down with the m9 and I'm getting bored with it. I am trying to get my hands on a nexus so I can flash the Android m preview. Will keep my m9 as my daily driver though.

Yeah I am with you. The fact that it has taken this long is ridiculous, we should have had this update weeks ago and it's likely held up with the crap bloatware from TMO we're all going to remove anyway...
Not sure it helps but I've been giving TMO and HTC hell on Twitter.

Since the action is so slow for the m9 I bought a nexus 5 last night... There's like 50 roms plus Android m for that thing! Too bad the phones not as a good of a quality as the m9.

This feature is supposed to be on the Samsung Galaxy grand prime or something like that , so it is doubtful it will come in this update , that device drops next month .

Ha-ha I totally skipped the last paragraph stating that... OK I'm out if excuses now

T-Mobile's Des tweeted- said possibly next week and will give an update on Monday as to status. They weren't done testing yet was the reason for delay. We'll see I guess.

I had heard internally that they were having trouble with a couple a of their bloatware apps causing wakelock issues. Crap we're all going to delete anyway.

There's a thread around here full of people complaining and asking about when it's coming. No one knows.

It's a weird situation for EU. The carrier O2 released 2.48 for German devices...But not for all EU unlocked...
I thought at least EU unlocked should follow O2, but three weeks now..nothing happened. And the support team in France is so incapable that they said they don't know when is the next update.
I'm getting tired of this. If current sw is not battery draining and the long-exposure photo in pro mode RAW is clear enough, I wouldn't not be so anxious to ask for the new update...
HTC EU does a nasty job...That's why I'm switching to Pixel later this year despite HTC U11 is excellent.
