Just seen this so fingers crossed.
http://www.techtechies.com/20100707...announced-htc-desire-getting-froyo-first.html
would be a good birthday present
Am I missing something? the HTC PR guy excerpt is from an older interview I read before. He said "before xmas" in the full interview. No mention of august, and again this unsubstantiated news clip gives no evidence of when HTC said "august". please reference HTC "august" comment if your going to post this stuff.
Taken from link.
According to the news the lucky ones would be the HTC Desire holders, as the Android 2.2 (Froyo) going to rool out for HTC Desire in August
Al so noted here.

thanks. I hope it comes true. I decided to wait for the official update instead of going with a ROM off here.
Same here. Haven't yet rooted as it looks like most of the stuff I'm after (and was on my old HD2 - wireless hotspot and app2sd) is coming with Froyo. I was a seasoned WM flasher (it can be so addictive!) but thought I would try and control myself this time around ;-) The sooner 2.2 arrives the better.

Haven't rooted yet too, no rush.
I really hope so, but seriously...October sounds more like it...HTC was never fast and known as a delay vendor. I would say late September, early October.

my bet would be, late aug early september
HTC has not annouced any official date yet and i dont know where these two web sites are getting it from. This read is so similar to the x amount of previous threads all saying its coming 'next' month etc.
The post date of the article is July 7th. We need less speculation and just wait patiently.
Q3 like has always been stated, that's July-September.... so my guess is some time between now and the end of September probably later rather than sooner.. (that has not stopped me from clicking on System software updates > CHECK NOW!' every day )

YAWN !! here we go again. one thing guartanteed though, Santa Claus WILL be coming at Xmas
Whether or not it's august, i got it on a custom rom aswell (tho i'm sure the official version may have some more tweaks)
Another one again?
And here we go again!
you might want to check this before getting your hopes up:

one long topic going on about froyo on desire in two weeks time. lol
When will it come??
Late April to May was the last I heard, but will it have HTC Sense 2.1?
Read the other numerous threads instead of starting a pointless one
not sure but its good news that is coming soon
I read that it does but not sure how reliable they were

I have read http://bit.ly/gSN39i. If the update is allready in the hands of the 3 network for testing, wouldn't it normally be the case that it would now be released to un-branded handsets?
I read somewhere like end of April/May... and in Android community forum a tweet of guy who is working on Gingerbread ROM for HTC desire..not sure how legti this might be...

NFC on Desire? I thought it does not have any hardware for that.

Some people are sure that 3 network, on twitter, confused the update with the one of the Desire HD..But i hope they really mean our Desire
the os may have support for it - whether the hardware is there or not...
No need to suspect. Just check out the FCC website. It does not.
3 UK stated its end of April/early May.

The problem is, what 3 UK mean? Desire or Desire HD? Some people asked about the gingerbread update for the Desire HD and they told the same date

Still love my desire, because all those new phones have those touchkeys. (home, menu ...)
Looks like Samsung beat HTC this time, Galaxy S in EU recieved Gingerbread update today.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/16/galaxy-s-gingerbread-update-now-rolling-out-across-europe/
For me this is another important point for decision between SGS2 and HTC Sensation.
bit disappointed that samsung beat htc to pushing out gingerbread, hoping to see the update come soon though, especially with the sign of the leaked gingerbread update
Typed on Motorola Xoom
gingerbread leaked for Desire
I cooked ROM and flashed a2sd works. Updated Radio its based on the old Sense with some tweak. Had old marker but was able to update Vending apk. Unfortunately, because don't post often unless I can contribute I'm considered a new member and am not allowed to post in the development area or upload files. I based by ROM on leedroid's previous roms as in my opinion he is one of the top 2 developers working on HTC Desire ROMs.
Anyhow, his version is set to be out tonight. Search the forum threads. Again not new sense but its gingerbread and its a begining.
Acc to Eurodroid "HTC Desire Android 2.3 update coming in the middle of May" at least for the Three/UK customers. anyway, it will -soon or later- come to all our Desires.
Personally, I will be keep waiting until my contract expiry date comes (~Apr 2012) with better feelings against HTC if I get this eagerly awaited update. Cheers!

Samsung have just released GB upgrade for SGS in Europe which means they hv taken over HTC in terms of updates. Hope HTC reacts that quickly and will not leave us, Desire owners, alone.

I keep hoping that with the leaked rom that came out that the proper update/RUU will be out soon...
keep toying between rooting and trying the new rom on my phone - and waiting... at the moment (as I have my xoom to play with too) that I'm leaning on waiting
I have an unbranded device and it says no update available here in Germany. however, according to this page (http://top10.com/mobilephones/news/2011/06/android_2_3_gingerbread_htc_desire_desire_hd_t_mobile/) UK based T-mobile customers can update.
I must say I'm a bit peeved that a carrier update is before an unbranded one - after all thats one of the reasons I bought unbranded!
This update is for the desire hd, and for this phone the rom for unbranded phones is rolled out since beginning of april:

Remember, you are in htc desire section here.
You are quite right..I was far too eager to see an update for my desire...oh well its time to wait and watch again!

Is there anyone who knows if there is a date for the release this week?
Awesome, and i was just thinking we need another thread on the TGB updae and when its arriving lol
Ok, things are going a bit slow here... :-/ Is there really no one who knows a date?
Yes, really no one knows the date.

Well, someone at HTC possibly, although maybe not - going by the number of threads where people have been told Yes/No/Maybe by different folks from said company...
It'll be here when it arrives, and not a moment sooner.
It would be prudent if the next topic about would be themed something like 'yay, I got an ota update'.
I think that maybe there will not be any date announced before the update. That we will just get it.
What do you guys think about that?

*cough* thorough *cough* research has shown that updates always arrive when you're offline, so I guess it doesn't help much to keep pressing the F5 or update button
I think they're using the same algorithm as the mail man, for delivering that one important package when you're not at home.
Don't see what you mean really... Do you mean that everyone won't get the update at the same time??? :S
Depends on your carrier's arrangements with HTC. It will be staggered so that the servers are not overloaded.
I'd assume that Europe will get the update first.
From what I gathered when I emailed htc awhile back they said they had some sort of slot system - not sure how much of that is true though...
Sounded like they had x amount of 'slots' per day and it sounded like first come first served style.
When they were full/used up you just waited till the next day.
for unbranded... carriers probably have their own way of doing things to the branded sets?
HTC themselves said last week that the new 2.3.3 update should be released for unbranded desire's sometime at the end of next week so it should be today or maybe over the weekend.

NO. They said will provide info about the removed apps starting from this week.

No, people will get the update at different times, your mobile operator has to put its logos and other junk in to the update before it gets rolled out.

The amount of misinformation these days is staggering.
Actually there is a simple explanation why is that. It derives from the phenomenon called 'selective reading'. When they see a new thread, they only actually read two words, 'update' and 'Gingerbread'. The rest of the post they simply forge together by abstract thinking.

Anybody heard anything encouraging? Seems like the rest of the world got the update for the Desire Eye, but not yet AT&T. Last I heard was late March.
I've been waiting for it, sources pointed to the last week of March, but still not even a mention from AT&T

I saw that a while ago. Numerous sites are reporting that to be inaccurate information. Check this out:

"...according to PhoneArena, Desire EYE owners on AT&T in the U.S. will get it “later this month.”

No real source of confirmation. HTC never confirmed Marshmallow for Desire Eye.
Marshmallow has already been released internationally for the desire eye. It's just ATT that haven't released it yet.
No update for Hong Kong too, even though it's the same language as Taiwan where update has already been released....
Sent a tweet to AT&T and HTC last week. HTC said no plans to bring Marshmallow to the Eye

HTC has already rolled out Marshmallow for the Eye internationally. Shouldn't be difficult to get it on to the AT&T variant.
Guess they just don't feel it's worth their time right now
HTC Desire EYE Not Getting Update

My phone is not getting the official update, can you help please? Kindly check the pictures.
