So I was plagued with the task of rooting an s3...
I managed to root and flash twrp. However I want to make sure before I flash a rom. Is the bootloader locked on NJ1 firmware?
SANSUNG-SGH-I747
VERSION 4.4.2
I747UCUFNJ1
it's probably been asked already but I haven't been able to find an answer. Thanks
The bootloader cannot be locked if the phone was successfully flashed with twrp.
The bootloader on the att s3 has never been locked, unlike many other phones from att.

Awesome thanks! Would you happen to have any insight on why the phone would be stuck in factory mode? And would flashing a new rom take it out?
What do you mean by factory mode? What message appears on screen when you boot the phone?

You have the international version of the s3? The North America version is either i747 or i747m?

I bought an used galaxy note II. I already have a N7100 but I need a T889 because I´m moving to T-Mobile. The thing is that supposedly I bought a T889 and the back says so but when I turn the device on the system says it is a I317. By the way the phone has been rooted and has CWM on it already installed.
Do you think it is possible the flashed the wrong ROM? I am not getting the HDSPA bands on T-Mobile that run at 1700MHz but I suppose this might be a modem issue.

Ok first off. I have the same phone, flashed with a AT&T Rom. And it says the same thing i317 but if you look at the modem it should be a T-Mobile. Here's a pic for ya:

There practically the same phone. But the modem AREN'T interchangeable!! Between the two devices!!!
So if you want it back to a fully tmobile device just flash yourself a tmobile stock Rom, or choose a custom without all the blot!!
Just my 2¢®

Thank you for the answer. I already figured out something like that... In fact the build is skynote as well. I reflashed a T-mobile modem just to be sure and it gets all the signals right now. I´am downloading a deodexed stock rom, and from there I´ll try to move to a good ROM. Any suggestions?
Hi!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 i747m android 4.3 with stock rom rooted and I want to install "S3Rx 3.0 TouchWiz 4.3 MJB (4-13-14) Full AROMA" but the thread says that I need to install a bootloader and modem but here is my question, Do I have to install the "Official MK5 bootloaders and modem" that are mentionated in there when In alredy have kitkat? Or I already have them in my phone and I have to ONLY flash the rom like in the past?
After a hard brick of my phone and iI have fixed it, I want to do things in the best way possible, thanks a lot for your help!

I also have an i747m from bell and could not get the ROM to run, even after altering to updater script. In the end, I went with a custom kk ROM.
I think it would not load because I did not have the mjb bootloader. Loading the mjb bootloader could brick your phone.

Thanks a lot! Yes I think is better to use a custom kk rom.
So you couldn´t flash the rom in the way you said?
I flashed a i9300 rom to my galaxy s3 r530u (us cellular), is there a brickfile? What can i do, it is bricked. There's no bootup but a red LED when i plug my phone into the wall, without the battery.

You have a different model the L710T. Use Philz Recovery, go to Philz Settings, hit reroot.

your one of the few people who got the NJ3 update....and Ryan is wrong this time you have the regular L710 NJ3 will be going out to Virgin and Boost S3's that aren't the T model...but i would still try PhilZ to see if that will root your phone and if that doesn't work flash PhilZ again but then flash this http://download.chainfire.eu/642/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.41.zip
Recently I bought an s20 ultra from Ebay and I can't get it to upgrade. It says the operating system is up to date. I know I can do it manually if necessary. My question is why can't it do it automatically?

Is it AT&T locked or that (ATT) is just a coincidence? Maybe it really is the latest version for AT&T locked devices.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it's locked to AT&T and I have checked on sammobile and there doesn't seem to be an update available for my specific model number but for the SM-G988U1 there are, also for other model numbers of the S20 Ultra, why would mine be left out, do you have any ideas?

Because your mobile carrier can't be arsed to validate the update and distribute to its locked devices. I've heard a lot of grief over the years over locked devices and updates and being unable to tinker with the phone because the bootloaders are all locked.

Thanks I guess the best thing to do would be to have it unlocked and then hope it gets updated. or do it manually.
