I have a seiki SE39UA01UK it says it supports 4k at 30hz
Does the new Ftv2 4k work with this TV thanks.
And is there a way to make the Ftv gen 1 to output 4k?
Or have any suggestions for a raspberry pi that would work with my TV
Thanks

-No, our tvs do not support HDCP 2.2. Amazon Video or Netflix won't stream in 4k.
-No.
-I'm not familiar with PI set ups so I can't answer that question.

I'm considering getting the AFTV2 for 4k. I have a 4k TV and was wondering if the 4k content will play with 4k resolution or should I stick with the AFTV1?
I'm not sure there is any 4K content on Kodi ?

You can google bigbuckbunny 4k. there are two things to test.
if kodi can play 4k and then second does it output native 4k resolution.
Can someone help who already know. I'm contemplating getting the nvidia shield.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking here, the 4K content you have directed me to is just on Youtube which your Sony tv should be able to play in 4K from the Youtube app on the tv, you were asking if Kodi can output 4K on the Fire tv. If you point me in the direction of any 4K content on Kodi I will try it for you.

Gauduchon. Any 4k Content available on the web can be a test factor. I don't think we are allowed to post live links for media. Question is.
1. While using Kodi, does the aftv2 output 4k
2. While using kodi, if we play a 4k file can kodi handle it with the new kodi as when I tried a sample file it stuttered. but then that was one of the only file i had.
It doesn't appear that any old app can output 4K. http://www.aftvnews.com/4k-video-output-not-available-to-fire-tv-app-developers/
Aftvnews this is precisely the answer I was looking for. I've gotten the nvidia shield. Do you know if that will work ?
Hello, I have just purchased a new Amazon Fire TV 4K box with the intention of running Kodi in 4K but I have only just realised that 4K mode is only enabled when watching 4K content in Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Is there any way at all that I can force enable the 4K resolution at all times?
Thanks

With Kodi no you can't, but MrMc has 4k support but no addon support, and SPMC has a test build out now with 4k support. Hope this helps.
Even if you enable 4k resolution you won't get it unless it's 4k content... If have addon to watch 4k content in kodi it will automatically display it.

Thank you very much, works on 1080 alt. Is there a way to get it to work on 4k or alt 4k? On alt 4k I get audio but no video. On 4k I am stuck on "loading"

Out of curiosity I tried the 4k settings but they failed, probably because my television is 1080. Also, I believe yuliskov is no longer working on the YouTube TV app and is concentrating only on the YouTube "SmartYouTubeTV" app, so getting problems solved with the YouTube TV app is most likely not going to happen.

Awesome thanks for the update.
I posted this on reddit and someone told me to post it here better.
Hey! So I'm making a 2k (1440p) projector using a monitor from aliexpress. My idea was to plug a Fire Stick 4k into it and stream stuff at 1440p.
That didn't work because the firestick goes from 1080p to 4k (which makes sense since 1440p isn't a standard). That's when I tried to use an EDID emulator (to make the FireStick think this was indeed a 4k monitor) with an HDCP bypass tool just in case.
After plugging it all, it still didn't work... all I got was 1080p. When I set the EDID emulator to use 720p, the FireStick did indeed think this was a 720p monitor. I also checked the HDCP version that the FireStick was getting and it was version 2.2
So at this point I'm out of ideas... has anyone ever tried to do this? How does the FireStick know this isn't a 4k monitor even when I'm sending the correct 4k EDID data...

I had something similar. I believe your 4k EDID emu is offering a 4k variant the stick is not able to do so fallback is 1080p.
I have 2 differend emulatrs and one cloner, actually the cloner is best as you can try the firestick on the "reao" 4k device and then clone that EDID.
Good luck.

Funny enough that's the conclusion I got to yesterday, today I got the EDID cloner and I will go to a store tomorrow and ask to try a 4k tv. Hopefully it works!
Hey just wondering if you got it working in the end, I’m decently tech savvy but haven’t delved into EDID’s and just want to get this working on my 1440p monitor
Hi there!
I have a Fire TV Stick 4K with an debloated ROM running and hooked up to my older 4K TV.
It's a Sony 55XD85 with HDR10 signal support but I don't like how Netflix HDR looks on this TV.
Fire TV options do not work to get rid of HDR output and TV settings same (it's an ATV Generation 1 TV but global disable possibility is only available in ATV 2).
So do you know if it's possible to forbid (Netflix) HDR output Android-sided or is this not possible because of HDCP or similar?
I had a look in "/sys/class/graphics/fd0" but didn't see anything HDR related.
Thanks,
Nico
