Hello,
Today I've updated my rooted 5x with wugfresh root toolkit (restore/update button, then flashed a modified boot and after that I've flashed TWRP + root)
After that I've got a rooted 5x with MHC19J but the camera does not work. It only shows the startup screen (black with camera icon).
When I just update it without the modified boot and twrp + root, the camera works. (stock MHC19J)
I'll guess I need the latest modified boot img for the MHC19J version? Or am I laying under a rock for a few months?
hope someone can help me out.
Well, I have fixed the issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66216060&postcount=15
I'm not sure what went wrong the first time, but this time I did not use a modified boot and did not wipe anything except dalvic/cache and cache after installing twrp/root and my nexus is rooted with a working camera.

Hi people, quick bit of help if possible. Received my X9006 a couple of days ago. I initially flashed TWRP on it and then rooted, all went perfectly. I then found that I couldn't flash OS 2.0 with this, so reverted back to stock recovery and the stock recovery root. This fixed the issue and OS 2.0 installed flawlessly. I have since tried to re-flash TWRP but it just doesn't want to work. Is there some compatibility issue? Would I have to revert back to OS 1.2 and then flash TWRP and SU to be able to install any other ROMs in future? Apologies for what seems like a stupid question as I'm sure it's something obvious but my brain is fried. Thanks.
Hi, I flashed twrp after installing 2.0. No issues. Did you erase cache?
Edit: or you could try flash tool from play.
With our unlocked bootloaders there is nothing stopping you from flashing a different recovery at any time.
Show us the output from your fastboot commands to help.
BTW, you can flash official Oppo updates in TWRP by removing the (usually first two) assert lines looking for Find7 in the updater-script.
I got the notification about the 5.1 OTA update on my Nexus 7 2013, downloads fine, but can't install because I have TWRP and a custom kernel. What should I do to update it?
EDIT: so I flashed the stock recovery with Wug's root toolkit, and tried to install it again. When I press the button to reboot and install the update, it gives just an error message and a picture of an android laying on his back with a red exclamation mark
What else should I do?
Turns out that with Wug's toolkit the stock recovery will not install, this is the actual problem, is there any other way to get back the stock recovery?
Flash the update from /cache
I tried it but won't install.
It says: E: Error executing updater binary in zip ' /cache/update.zip'
Under the advanced options you should be able to flash the stock recovery if that's what you want to do.
scrosler has a pre-rooted stock 5.1 TWRP-flashable ROM and a flashable bootloader zip. I just flashed those and everything is working fine.

I'm going to add onto this question. OTA update won't work for me. The red android comes up.
I had flashed android 5 with wugfresh, rooted, unlocked bootloader. I don't think I modified the system after that. I tried to unroot and flash stock recovery and bootloader. No change to the OTA failure.
I see that there was a bug with the 2012 nexus 7 bootloader that would cause this. Google coincidentally just updated that bootloader, perhaps to fix said problem. But I'm not sure what to do about my particular 2013 razor/flo problem.
Does anyone know how to get OTA updates working with a stock rom you flashed yourself?
Edit: Wugfresh says it is impossible to OTA update a rooted android 5 lollipop device? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60262545&postcount=1072
Edit 2: I unrooted but that still didn't work. To workaround, I extracted system.img from the factory image zip for the same version of the OS I currently have. Then I wrote that image to the system partition using the universal android toolkit img flash feature (#11.). The system and data seemed identical upon boot. Now the OTA update will work naturally. But this has all been very confusing! Many mixed messages were found by google searching.
N00b needing some help. It seems I have corrupted the recovery on my rooted G3 VS985. Used TWRP Manager to flash TWRP. Followed the app's instructions, installed BusyBox, applied the KitKat/Lollipop patch, went ahead and flashed. Booting into recovery just gives me a black screen and blinking blue and red LEDs. Since I'm not an expert, I'm a little paranoid to continue.
If I use bump to flash TWRP, will that wipe the corrupted file and flash a working version of TWRP (assuming I don't eff it up)? I've also seen root methods for the G3 that install TWRP as well. If I unroot and reroot with one of those methods with a bum recovery, will I brick my device? Sorry for the n00b questions, and I appreciate the help!

I have d851, looking for another alternate solution for the corrupted recovery. please help.
Same issue
Same question here also. Updated twrp from twrp manager playstore app now when i enter recovery i get black screen and boot security error. Other than that i can go to download mode easily and can boot my device to android cloudy g3 without a hitch the only problem is that i can no longer use recovery
Hey guys, i have installed CM 12.1 on my LG G3 D855.
Everything seems to work fine and correct.
Only one problem is left, i made a factory reset (in settings), the phone rebooted. It rebooted in Recovery (TWRP) but there it stuck in a boot loop. I removed the batterie and and restarted the device. Now it boots correct, but i think my TWRP is still broken. Is there a way to fix it?
Can i simply use e.g. Flashify app to install TWRP correct again?
Don't ever perform a factory reset or take an OTA update w/ a third party recovery like TWRP installed. You're lucky you were able to get the phone to boot normally. There's probably nothing wrong w/ TWRP, but yes... you can use Flashify again to re-flash recovery.
Okay, i thought it will only reset the CM - specific settings and not the LG ones.
Can i use "OTA"-CM Updates? As i am using the Nighties and there is an Update everyday - or should i just update once a week?
Could there be a problem with my "broken CR?
As you have said I can use Flashify for flash TWRP again, can i use the normal files which are made for stock, or do i have any special CM ones?
Thanks.
As this is the only root option I can find for 8.x I need some help. When flashing in twrp and rebooting my phone just goes right back into twrp. I remember this happening way back when (when first getting my pixel xl) but I've been out of the game so long now I cannot remember how to fix it. Bravo to the team who cracked this thing back open!

How about a bit more info?
What version of TWRP are you running?
I am running TWRP 3.2.1.2 - Which I ran via fastboot: Fastboot boot trwp.img, then installed the zip of the same TWRP from within the original twrp boot with Fastboot from the storage of my phone. This is the only way to correctly install twrp.
What version of Magisk are you trying to use?
I am using V16.0 - I ran this after fully installing twrp. It installed no errors and I am showing rooted and passing all the security checks.
So i got it to work with v16.4. Had it rooted for a few hours and then installed the xposed module. Mistake. It got stuck in a bootloop, so i rebooted and reflashed my rom. That worked to get the phone booted back up and works fine, but now whenever i try to resintall magisk it just sits at the loading screen. Do i need to go back to completely stock and start over?

You didn't say what 'ROM' you are using.
Suggestions: a. Search ROM thread for Magisk related problems. b. Search Magisk thread for 'ROM' related problems.
Flash stock 8.1 firmware. Boot into system. Enable usb debugging. Reboot into boot loader, fastboot boot the twrp image, from TWRP flash magisk. ( I use 16.4). Reboot into system. If that works you know nothing is wrong with your phone. You have to reboot into the system at least once before flashing Magisk no matter what rom you're running.
