Mount usb drive in twrp not possible? - Xperia Z5 Premium Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey. I tried to mount my usb drive (is it usb stick in english too?) In twrp to make a backup. I don't have a sd card right now. But if i go to mount and tap on otg nothing happens.
So what do i have to do to make it work?
Sry for my english

Is your usb stick formated as NTFS? I don't think TWRP supports NTFS. You'd have to reformat the usb stick as FAT32 or maybe exFAT. Not sure what TWRP supports

Same problem here
Mine is FAT32

I don't know how my one is formated. I'll have a look at it later

how do i know which sd card do i have?

i want to use this app:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889550 but i see it dosent work on exfat and i dont know how to know if i have exfat or fat32 please help ..
I'm using directory bind (latest version) on exfat and it works fine for me. You can just put the card in your computer and go to its propertes, it will tell you which format it is on.
64GB micro sd cards usually come with exfat format out of the box. 32GB usually FAT32
i think most sdcards are fat32 by default--may be wrong--but you can research phone specs or Google sdcard specs for n2.
Not aware any card comes with exfat--if you are original owner it should be fat32
you can also use partition programs like gparted or sdformatter that should list the sdcard and say how it is formatted--
either way backup sdcard first and even phone

Mount SD card with NTFS

This is just a reminder for people who would like to format their SD cards with NTFS etc. I posted this earlier in the year for my P6800, but it is still valid for my N7100. It is also useful for external USB drives (the 2Tb with external power, etc.)

Please hit THANKS if this helps anyone in the dark.
Just to confirm that my 2TB external hard drive was mounted instantly under /storage/UsbDriveA.
tested HD and avi - both play using MX Player and other Video players.

I think that CWM is not advanced as to mount NTFS yet - I think you need to partition your SD to both (ex)FAT for, say 4Gigs and the rest for NTFS. This way you get the best of both worlds. Using a 16Gig or 32Gig SD is probably better to do this.
I am not quite sure if Aroma or the toolkit by mskip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923956 read NTFS(?)

USB Storage not mounting on Ubuntu

Hey guys so i use Ubuntu most of the time and my phone just stopped mounting the Internal sd card and external one on Ubuntu. The SD cards gets mounted if i use the CWM feature to mount storage however its slow and i have to reboot in recovery everytime and also doesnt mount internal card..I really want it to mount and also use USB Tethering..any ideas?
Well, I am also a linux user and was a bit baffled when I had to learn that newer Android phones are not mounted as USB storage anymore but now with MTP (which has a very poor support on Linux yet)...
My best shot would be, that an update on Ubuntu probably broke that functionality?
Personally I use dual boot into windows, remove the micro SD card or use bluetooth... I even already emailed files to transfer them too my computer

Can Note7 Read NTFS Format?

Using the supplied usb adapter, can the phone read flash drives or external hard drives in NTFS format? Or does the phone only support FAT32?

Will read fat32 and exFAT. You will need some sort of software to be able to read ntfs.

sd card does not work

My sd card does not work, can i upgrade from usb? Same steps
thanks
1) make sure any SD card is FAT32 formatted and not ExFAT. These can only understand FAT32 formatted storage. Windows will only format anything 32GB+ as ExFAT using the built in support, so you will have to find a utility on the net to do FAT32. ALSO, make sure the SD card is not fake, there are a ton of them that are out there and they look perfect, and are sold on Amazon.
2) Yes, when you go into recovery mode there is an option for USB which will look for the first USB storage device. That is actually how I do all my updates because I don't like pulling that little sd card out everytime, USB stick is easier.
Ok, thank you, I'll see if it works, my unit only recognizes usb2
