I use J Player to watch streams, and am bombarded by ads, especially going back and forth between streams. I have Adblock installed, and I don't get them in Firefox at home, is there a solution for this on Android?
Check out "ROM toolbox pro" on the market. It has a good block ads setting in it. I dont buy very many apps but if your rooted and do alot of flashing its good to have.

Has anyone experimented with using Amazon Instant Video (from the Kindle Fire) to get Prime videos, etc working? I did give it a run. It looks like you need to have Flash installed, and use OTA rootkeeper to temporarily hide root while you use the Instant Video app. I was having problems logging in, plus when I tried to load a video, it would just black screen, then FC.
I've watched Prime movies on my E4GT using Dolphin HD browser (use desktop mode) in the past and it worked with out hiding root. Although I'm told some need to hide it.

Hmm yes you're right, I've done similar with the ICS browser +, and that worked also. It's useful if you know what you want to watch, but it's not easy to navigate. I think a native app would be pretty awesome. I've looked in forums for other devices, but haven't found anyone trying to do this on other devices.
For the life of me I can't get this app installed on my AFTV. have FireTube working, but this one at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LV4D70O/ref=mas_ya_dp
just won't install.
Initially I was getting a "geography restriction" on the website, that went away and I purchased the app. I still cannot install it or "deliver " it to the AFTV.
I also tried getting the app from a buddy and sideloaded it, but it complains that I do not "own" the app and quits.
Any suggestions? This is very frustrating....and made me realize how much more restrictive the Amazon app store is compared to Google Play.
If you have access to sideloading, try the YouTube HD Mod from XDA itself. (too lazy to link, just google it/search in XDA forum searchbox)
If that doesn't suit your needs, there's lots of other YouTube apps out there nowadays,a few of them are really good.

I have that one installed and it doesn't cut it as Amazon f...d user authentication and I can't log in to get my subscriptions. I also installed Youtube for TV - which works beautifully on Ouya - much better TV oriented interface. No dice either getting past login.
Why are these monkeys unable to understand that making things proprietary will always lead to disaster. I assume Amazon only cares about their drone users gobbling Prime content - maybe they will abandon Netflix support too...
Should have mentioned I stay logged out with no issues.
Unless a login nagscreen is preventing you from using the app,you should be fine, albeit without subscription access.
SORRY the title is supposed to say Showbox but my damn tablet auto corrected
First let me say that I usually never block ads on apps like these because I know it's their funding but as of late when trying to start something on the app to play it goes to an ad then crashed when I x out of it.
I use it mainly for shows not on my hulu and Netflix.
I tried ad block plus but it didn't work. Running rooted OUYA UI
Thanks
Try adaway, the logo is a stop sign with a pigeon and as you probably guessed. It is not available on the Play Store.

From what i have seen it is a google services issue. I dont have youtube tv to test. It might work in the browser also (I've seen reports it does, with scrolling issues).
Install the following for signing in. YouTube and services are working with these.... If you need the files i can try and upload them.
Google Account Manager v4.4.4-1227136
Google Services Framework v4.4.4-1227136
Google Play Services (AndroidTV) v11.9.51 (836-177350961)
Google Play Store (AndroidTV) v4.6.17

You can just install the old one:

Works for me. No guarantee Google won't mess it up. Follow the simple guide, disable updates.

Oh. Sorry.
I never even thought about that.
It's one thing for Google to block a free service but to charge a subscription, then make it so a significant amount of customers can't access it...its just a really bad decision.
I'd definitely contact YTTV customer support and complain.

Probably not. But I think Fire Tv is the most popular streaming device in the world. If enough people complain they just might rethink things. Or if you're persistent enough...maybe a refund, free month, credit.

Yes this version works perfectly fine on my firestick - you can also cast to the app (app must be open on tv) from your phone if you goto the apps settings and select link with code & do same on your phones YouTube app
I cast because the search function of the tv app doesn't show a keyboard input
Fire TV YouTube Download
just use smart youtube tv. casting and 4k video supported. everything works like old youtube app. not sure if login works, didn't login my account.

I am too looking for the Youtube TV app, not Youtube.
Let me know if you find a solution.
I sideload the app for the phone but the app could not determine the location.
How can I make the app locate my location?
login works with this app. waiting for YouTube Red app

Could anyone looking for Youtube and NOT Youtube TV kindly get the hell out of this thread?
Working YouTube tv
So I have successfully gotten YouTube tv to work on my fire stick 2.
com.android.vending-4.6.17-80260017-minAPI8.apk
com.google.android.gms_11.9.51_(836-177350961)-11951836_minAPI19(armeabi-v7a)(213,320dpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
google_services_framework_4.4.4-1227136_androidapksbox.apk
google_account_manager_4.4.4-1227136_androidapksbox.apk
Things I've installed different than the thread.
Settings.apk for fire tv
Fake gps app from play store
I have used wireless adb to
settings put secure location_providers_allowed gps
settings put secure location_providers_allowed gps,network
settings put secure mock_location 1
I will write up a full tutorial later today. I have another fitestick to test on, so I can start from beginning.
It's sorta a pain in the ass to get the fake gps coordinates right. I installed the app on my phone, then used the coordinates it read out, and typed them into fake gps using Cletus keyboard. It is important for negative - sign.
Notes are it needs a mouse to navigate some of the app, Cetus play works fine.
Feel free to ask questions.
You can try the app here, no Google Play Services required: https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/development/app-youtube-tv-app-fire-tv-t3757074
Is this for YouTube or YOUTUBE TV?
