G3 D855 WiFi Issues - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having pretty major issues with the wifi on my G3 D855 - When I try to connect to a network (secured or not, doesn't change anything), it instantly sets itself to 'saved (secured)'. It takes multiple tries for it to turn to 'Connecting' and then it goes back to 'Saved'. If I keep trying, it eventually shows 'Authenticating' and then 'Obtaining IP address', after which it will connect to the internet for a maximum of around 20 seconds. This renders the phone virtually useless unless on mobile data. I am currently on the stock Android 4.4.2 KitKat, but before I was on CM 12.1 Snapshot, and before that was a CM13 Nightly. The issue started around 2 weeks ago whilst still on CM13, but it had been installed for a few days beforehand, so it surely can't have been caused by it (please correct me if I'm wrong). I tried to install .zips for different modems to see if this would change anything but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] After installing CM10.2 - No Service but have IMEI

Hello Everyone. I've searched XDA and the net high and low trying to figure out what is going on here, but it has come time to post. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
Bought my S3 from T-Mobile a few years ago, have installed a number of roms on it, but most recently updated to CM 10.2. I started having boot issues (phone would stop booting after a couple of restarts, not a sudden death syndrome phone, BTW). After using ODIN to load on root66-UVUEMJC (tmobile 4.3), and running into more issues, I ended up loading Stock 4.3 from Kies (yes, I realize this is a horrible mistake now).
That got me on my feet again, I used ODIN to install clockworkmod rom manager, then re-installed CM10.2. It was at this point where I noticed that I no longer had cellular network connectivity anymore. I've tried another t-mobile SIM in my phone to make sure it wasn't that, and it had the same problems:
On startup, my phone will connect to the cellular network and fill in all the fields under Status (including IMEI), but after a minute or so, I loose that and the device goes to "No Service". Nothing I've tried has been able to get this fixed. I have attempted to flash the latest modem as well with no luck.
As mentioned, any help would be greatly appreciated on what to look for / do to get this thing working so I don't have to drop a load on a new phone.
Thank you!

[Q] CM11 WiFi doesn't connect

Hi there, my first post.
I've used arco68's guide to root my S4 mini LTE (serranoltexx) and flashed the CyanogenMod 11 M9 snapshot (cm-11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-serranoltexx.zip), but the WiFi isn't working properly. Sometimes it connects (very rarely), but most of the time it just says "Connecting", "Authenticating..." and then goes back to say "Saved, secued with WPA" and the process repeats again.
I've tried flashing the following ROMs, but the WiFi isn't working properly on either of them:
cm-11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-serranoltexx.zip (current)
cm-11-20140708-SNAPSHOT-M8-serranoltexx.zip
cm-11-20140813-NIGHTLY-serranoltexx.zip
Other things I've tried so far:
Using CM File Manager to delete contents of /data/misc/wifi and rebooting, as described here, but it didn't help.
Installed SQLite Debugger, went to Settings Storage > setttings.db > Global, where I wanted to change the value of wifi_display_on to 0 as described here, but it was already set to 0, so no luck here.
Changed the Region Code in WiFi settings (as described here) to United States, then to Europe, but this didn't help either.
Installed the latest nightly update, but still nothing.
Basically, I've tried everything I could find, but the WiFi still doesn't work, and I have no idea why. I don't want to downgrade to CM 10.2, since later when I decide to upgrade to CM 11, I'd need to wipe all the data and make a clean CM11 install. Also, I don't want to flash any other ROM except CM, so telling me to install Paranoid Android or anything else wouldn't help.
If you have any ideas how to solve this, that would be great! Also, feel free to ask for any additional details.
Update: I've just discovered that it connects to open WiFi networks without any problems (though I've only tried it on 2 so far), so probably WPA encryption or my old home router can be the cause of the problem. I can only change my home router to WPA (it doesn't work with WPA2), so I've yet to try it on another router supporting WPA2. If that works, it would solve the whole problem! I'm ashamed to say I haven't thought of this earlier...
Update 2: I just tested it on a WPA2-protected WiFi network and it connects without problems. The most likely conclusion seems that CM11 has some problem with WPA, so for the time being I'll switch to another router with WPA2. Hopefully gets fixed with the next snapshot!

No SIM and Wi-Fi dropping issues

- vs985 -
About 3 days ago my phone started to have Wi-Fi disconnecting issues. I formatted everything outside of external sd card and put back the same rom I had installed with no previous issues, xdabbeb's 47a rooted following instructions 100% as I had previously. Still, wifi issues where it will connect / disconnect. Rebooting the phone or turning on / off wifi or even bluetooth has no effect. Complete randomness seems to "fix" it but wifi will only stay on for a few minutes at a time. Multiple other devices on my same network have no issues. Still, rebooted and even factory reset the router just to be sure. No change.
Something I thought was an isolated issue, I had a "no sim" message a few months ago and Verizon replaced my sim card and the problem seemed to go away. Today though, while trying another reformat, I got the "no sim" card on the initial setup screen and before even finishing the setup via wifi, the wifi disconnected multiple times.
I'm thinking hardware is to blame especially since there were no apps installed to conflict with the os software.
I'm really not wanting a new phone, should I look to replace the motherboard? I can diy it np. Or, should I bite the bullet and buy a ::shutter:: new phone.
Orrrr... is there anything else I should try software wise?
So since having issues and formatting down to internal storage and reinstalling the stock rooted 46a kdz with no positive results, I flashed the 10b and attempted to take the OTA's. The OTA's failed for 10b so I flashed the 24b and was able to take all the OTA's. I'm on 47a right now and haven't had any wifi issues. I'm going to give it a few days of usage to see if it's "fixed." Afterwards though, I plan to go back to the stock rooted 46a so I can use my rooted apps like titanium and hopefully find the issue still fixed. I do know there is a kingroot option for stock 47a, but I also find a lot of negativity about it's communication with sensitive data and installing apps behind the scene so I'd rather not go that route.
I'll keep updating in case anyone else has similar issues.

LG G3 4G Network Drops

So the problem I'm having with my G3 is that the Network either drops and comes back repeatedly or completely drops and does not return. This only happens on 4G. When I go into network settings and change network mode to 3G it works fine and I get a constant signal all the time.
I have been using Fulmics ROM and I thought maybe that was the issue. But it wasn't.
I tried 3 different sims from three different carriers (Three, EE, O2) on several stock firmwares. (20N, 21C, 30A, 30F).
Each scenario is the same; network drops when phone is on 4G network mode, but its fine on 3G mode.
However, I have noticed that if I leave Wifi OFF allowing 4G data to connect first, then its fine. I can even turn Wifi ON again and the network is stable. I can even turn Wifi and Data OFF and the network is still stable.
But, if I toggle aeroplane mode, where Wifi connects first or where Wifi and Data is turned OFF; I am back to the network dropping.
Also, I live in London UK so there should not be any signal issues. Can anyone tell me why this is happening. I doubt it's software issue as I've tried several firmwares.
Any help is appreciated.
Mate I'm afraid there is a high possibility it's the Fulmics ROM.. I'm still trying to read up on the issue myslef, there's a ton of reports in the Fulmics thread and around.

I'm using an UK bought LG G3 as well (from Three) and started experiencing similiar issues after I flashed Fulmics. Even tried rolling back to 4.4.2 using a .tot file but didn't really help me.
Still scouring all around trying to find how to fix the issue..

Hmmm looking back now this issue did start when I first installed fulmics 3.5. But shouldn't everything revert back to stock when you reinstall stock firmware.

That's what I thought but I guess it's a little bit more tricky.
Anyways I think I managed to restore some kind of stability in the signal, still unsure about the process though. Seems that different stuff are working for different people. In a few days I hope to have some information to give you how to fix it.
In the meantime try checking the Fulmics thread for ideas and suggestions (that's where I start off from).

Yeah let me know when you find a fix. Really appreciate the help.
One thing that is sort of a temporary fix for me, works on Three, EE and O2 (only ones i tried), is connecting Data first when on 4G mode.
So if I toggle airplane mode and if Wifi connects first then the network drops or keeps refreshing.
But, if I leave Wifi OFF and Data establishes a connection; the network is stable and I can then turn Wifi On again and the network will remain stable.
I just have to make sure the network does not lose connection (i.e. tunnel or airplane mode), and if it does ensure Data connects first.
Also, another thing. After I reinstalled Fulmic 5.3 it seems 4G mode is sort of stable. As in when on 4G mode instead of dropping the network it connects via 3G automatically. But this only happens with Three.

Okay here is what worked for me - open this guide and download the Three specifiic Lollipop and Marshmallow .kdz files.
Flash the stock Marshmallow firmware first using the LG Flash Tool method. Your phone probably won't automatically get recognized since you're running Fulmics now so you'll need to change the COM port as described in post #
After that downgrade to stock Lollipop using the LGUP method. Personally I downloaded more updated (I think, not sure) files from here.
Then I proceeded to re-root and clean install Fulmics 5.1 and the 5.2 and 5.3 OTA updates from recovery. Booted and network works without drops now with 4G connectivity.

I changed my carrier and got an automatic SMS with configuration for my phone and instructions to save it. I should've known something was fishy when I recieved the "congratulations for setting up" message even before I recieved the actual settings. Anyways 4G was running fine on my new carrier with 32 mbps speed which is okay, much better compared to the same carrier 3G network, however I only had 3 bars of connection so I gussed what the heck, I should save that configuration after all, it might make things better. What a bloody mistake. I lost 4G connectivity and my phone refused to connect to the 4G network, only 3G (just as you describe).
What worked for me in this scenario was wiping the cache and dalvik (not really sure this step is even necessary to be honest, but I was headed for a full rom re-wipe anyway and decided to try with this first), going into the hidden menu and choosing LTE only connectivity (Fulmics Tweaks -> Hidden Menu [or the hidden code for the phone app if you decided to stay on stock, which I dont have] -> Modem Protocol -> RAT Selection -> LTE only. At this step my phone got to the usual 3 to 4 bars of connectiviy but was displaying "Emergency mode only" and no data at all. I proceeded to Settings -> Networks -> More -> Mobile Networks -> Access point names -> Reset to default from the menu. If network mode doesn't change back to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto automatically, change it back manually. At this point I had restored back my 4G connection and everything is working normally (30-32 mbps connection stationary in my house through a wifi hotspot next to my laptop).
Good luck, I would follow the steps as described just in case. I tried many reflashes before that should've worked but didn't for me. However different things work for different people, hope this works for you and please report back

I'd like to thank you so much for this information! I was having signal drop issue after installing Fulmics ROM. Tried to flash stock ROM but no success. After doing the downgrade via LGUP method to LP my phone is getting full signal again (at least I didn't notice any drop until now).
Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply.
I followed your instructions and unfortunately it didn't work. :crying:
I first tried with the D85520f you provided and then with an updated D85521C firmware. But nothing worked.
The temporary fix, which I found works, is to ensure 4G mobile data establishes a connection first before Wifi (turn Wifi OFF then ON after data established). Then there is no signal drop until I go through a tunnel or phone restarts (signal drops completely), which means again i have to ensure 4G mobile data establishes a connection before Wifi or else it'll go back to the constant signal dropping.
Guess I'll just stick with 3G at all times. I've spent too much time trying to correct this than actually finding enjoyment in using the phone.
Anyway really appreciate the time and effort you took to help with this annoying situation. :good::good::good:

I flashed dummies and get dropped 4g data like this.
I have tot back to stock and didn't help... not Kdz
Haven't downgraded yet to LP yet.
On turborom now.
Can I just flash this modem? Have a link to the 21c modem?
Flash in twrp or send via LG flash?

[D855] 3G and 4G issues

Hello,
first of all, thanks for taking your time to read this.
>> Ill start by explaining my problem and list my diag. method.
So my problem is that my LG G3, that i bought used about 2 weeks ago, its an European Version (D855) and i am SURE that my ISP supports the bands that my phone does (800Mhz/1800Mhz, so band 3 and 20). THe problem is that whenever i have 3/4G selected, not 2G, the phone has contant restarts. The restarts happen on any AOSP based ROM (the only ones ive tried using), examples are CM13, CM12.1, LiquidSmooth, etc... On the default LG D855 ROM (installed with the LG PC suite) it simplly looses connection any time i use 3/4G, it does not restart but it does not have a stable connection. In the case of the custom ROMs the restarts happen anywhere between a second after boot or 5-10 minutes. Ive tried reinstalling CM multiple times, and have also tried reinstalling the european official ROMs, both 5.0 and 6.0. I DO have the correct APNs set. I have tried setting it to LTE only in the secret menu, did not change the resaults.
What do you think can be the problem, is this a HW problem or possibly a firmware, IMEI problem?
Thanks
//Sorry for my horrible english
