Hi there.
I bought an htc one m8 today and absolutely love it but I am trying to find out if my phone is defective.
When I go into the camera app and click that square with 4 circles at the bottom (the button that you have to press that takes you to the options page which asks if you want to take a Selfie, Camera, dual capture, video, pan360 and zoe camera), it will make a static/ticking sound. It will again make this same ticking sound when I click the back button to get out of that camera menu. I'm trying to figure out if that's just a sound effect or if it is not supposed to make that sound? Sounds kind of strange to be a sound effect lol. Can you guys check your htc one m8s and tell me if your phone also makes a tick/static type of sound when you click it and then click the back button? Thanks:fingers-crossed:
I attached a photo of the square with the 4 circles just in case.
Much appreciated:laugh:

Hey, thanks for the reply! Can you instruct me on how to disable touch-sounds? I can't seem to find that option in the camera settings app :fingers-crossed::silly:

Hi I just realized that my touch sounds option was never checked so it was never on but I am still getting a crackling sound? Just checked my friend's phone and his does not do this so I will definitely swap this one out for a different htc one m8 tomorrow.
Thanks though
If you don't find camera option you can try handset option button or can decrease your phone sound.
I tried an M8 today and found that it has ticking sound on booting and when playing music, looked like a hardware issue (voltage or something) so I returned before paying a $
The seller tried a factory reset but the issue was still here.
Weird to see these kind of issue on a 770$ flagship phone nowadays.

Listen, my device does not make any static sound. Turn your sound/music volume all the way down & see if it still does it. There is a known defect that starts with static sounds & clicking that can end with a broken camera lens. If you don't hear it with the sound turned completely off, then it is just the sound effects of low volume. If YOU DO HEAR IT with the volume completely off, then you are possibly in possession of one of the faulty devices that have an issue that can cause a cracked camera lens.

Not so weird. You find issues on $5,000 to $20,000 4K LED panels too. Anything that is mass manufactured is going to have some problem devices that either slip through QA/QC, or fail shortly after passing thru QC. You'll also find defects occasionally on $300,000 vehicles, $10,000,000 planes & $100,000,000 structures. It happens.
Hi guys, does anyone know how to turn off knock on on the G3? Tried looking for it in gestures settings like in the G2 but can't seem to find it. The g3 keeps waking while in my pocket making it feels constantly warm. Anyone else experiencing this? I don't mind just using the button at the back to wake it. The placement for the button is quite comfortable actually.
I'm sorry to hear this is a problem on the g3, I have this problem on the double tap to wake code on my Nexus 5 and so I just turned it off. I know for the galaxy 2, sorry g2, voice dictation, they released firmware fix for this I think

Can you tell me how you did the wake code on the nexus 5?
And to the op, isn't there a setting in the screen gestures section of the phone to turn it off?
You can turn it off in the hidden system settings menu
Dial 3845#*855# to access it.

It is the very last setting in the list, just scroll all the way down to the bottom.
If you have the Korean model replace the 855 with 400
I turned this feature off as it will save battery life too as it needs to keep the screen driver awake happy using the back button.

855 opens my hidden menu. But I still can figure out which option to choose after scrolling down to the bottom. The screen shot shows my menu. Could u let me know which option should I be disabling?

we don't have that functionality by default, it's patched into custom kernels and eats 2-3% battery per hour (another reason I turn it off)
Just so you know, I had issues with Knock On unlocking my phone in my pocket so I turned it upside down and the issue is 100% gone !
I think it's due to the light sensor not being 100% in the dark then the taps on the lap unlocked the phone. When it's upside down the light sensor is kept in the dark
I just can't find that setting... Ive looked everywhere. My phone is rooted with towelroot. Is that the problem?

Is it really the light sensor? I think the proximity sensor would make more sense in this case! Otherwise you wouldn't be able to use the knock on feature in the darkness...
Screen wakes in my pocket whichever way up I put it in and I don't want to have the screen face outwards. This is very annoying and didn't happen on my G2 - The screen is clearly very sensitive. I don't want to turn off knock on and I don't really like knock code.

Same here. Upside up or Upside down makes no difference for me. Display from body away seems to be the only real solution...
Looks like a few of u are experiencing the same problem. I have been facing the screen away from me as a solution but it feels so awkward when I m so used to have the screen face in. And I can't find the hidden settings to turn knock on off. They really hid very well I guess.
Since I've switched to the G3 I've noticed that Chrome browser no longer gives me a little popup magnifying glass type thing to help me select hyperlinks when I've clicked on one that's in close proximity to another hyperlink. Anyone else noticed this? Is there a way to enable it? Does it have to do with the G3 firmware or is it Chrome Dependant? I haven't been able to find a setting to enable it anywhere.....
Hi, on my G3 D855 10g every time I start the settings it opens as list mode and not in tab mode. How do I force the tabs mode?
I'm assuming you changed the setting in the menu button in the upper right corner from List View to Tab View? That's how I got it to stick.

I know this is a somewhat old thread, but I have the exact same issue with my Verizon G3.
Was a solution ever found for this problem?
Yesterday my phone (LG G4 815 EU) got the LG firmwate update to software version v10b-EUR-XX.
Although I can't say for certain that the update caused it, I since then notice that when playing a video fullscreen in Youtube, the home touch buttons stay on screen.... Also the pause button etc. stay on screen...
I looked for it in settings and saw that in Settings-Display-Home touch buttons-hide home touch buttons the Youtube-app doesn't appear as one of the apps that is adjustable.
Can anyone confirm this? Looking for suggestions to be able to run the youtube-app in real fullscreen modus again!
I Like the LG G4 very much, but am also looking out to a more active custom-rom-developers-community, since experiences on previous phones learned that custom development usually can improve on good!
