today i installed cyanogenmod CM13 and gapps on my asus zenfone 2, the install went fine, but when i booted my phone, i selected the language, then when it went to look for updates, a system message appeared "google play services has stopped", which has caused the phone to hang at the update page, and to top it off i forgot to install TWRP, so i think im going to have an issue installing a fresh install.
does anybody have any ideas as to what i can do please?
+1 same problem

This is a CM bug (not relating to our device), showing up on a lot of devices since 3/26 builds. Chances are it will be fixed soon.

Use GApps Pico/Nano package. I am facing this issue if I use Stock GApps Package. But it goes fine with Pico/Nano Pacage...

I just installed the CM10.1 Nightly from 1/13/13 and installed it over the last stable build (10.0). Now, when I boot my phone I get messages from time to time (a few an hour) about Youtube not working and Google Play Music not working. These are probably some of my most used apps and its really sucking not having them working. I upgraded Gapps to a 4.2 version and I still have the same issue. Any ideas?

Did you install the new "Gapps" package?
Edit: didn't see you installed the latest gapps.
Did you try going into settings>apps>all apps and hitting "clear data" for the affected apps? Also, make sure there are no google play updates for those apps.
If all else fails, I would first try reflashing the Gapps package and maybe CM 10.1 as well, and if reflashing doesn't work, then do a factory reset.
BTW, I flashed 10.1 and 4.2 Gapps over 10.0 and had no problems. There were some updates that needed dling though

My Gapps never said 121212 however it did say it was compatible with 4.2. Downloading the 121212 one now, gonna flash and try that. Also, I cleared data and checked for updates to no avail.
Thank you for the speedy reply!
Alright, so that didn't work. Still greeted with "Youtube has stopped working" and "Google Play Music has stopped working" upon booting. Is there no other things I can try? I feel like factory reset is unsafe and will probably make me lose data. haha.
Fixed it! Just uninstalled both apps and reinstalled them fresh from the Play Store. Thank you for the help either way!
Really enjoying my (problem free) Nexus 7 2013, but stock Android has some missing features compared to CM10 that is on my phone. So last night I installed CM 10.2 (8/24), and 8/13 gapps for android 4.3. Also put in a custom kernel (bulletproof). Everything set up, and then part way through installing all my apps, google play stopped with a 920 error on all the rest of the apps, and refused to do anything more.
Redownloaded both CM 10 and gapps, erased, reflashed (no custom kernel this time), same error 920 partway through the downloads.
A new CM10.2 build (8/26) was available this morning, so downloaded that, redownloaded the gapps again, and flashed. Almost all of the apps got downloaded this time, although a few had an error 923 (manually downloaded those without additional issue right away). But right at the end of the auto downloads, the play store crashed (application unexpectedly closed), and when I went back to it, error 920s again.
Some research online lead to a few possibilities:

Cleared cache on play store and play services. No help.
Titanium Backup won't find my old backups, despite walking through the instructions at the CM10.2 thread. So I can't restore the Android ID as someone suggested.
At one point I completely removed my google account, the data in the play store app, the download manager, and play services. That worked, sort of - I could download apps without error 920, but it decided that all of my previously installed apps were installed from somewhere other than the play store, so to get them back to normal state required un/reinstalling all of them. I started over instead.

This has a very detailed fix, that involves installing an updated version of the play store and a different play account. But I was already on the latest version of the play store (tried installing the same apk over top, but it didn't make any difference), and the secondary google account worked to download things, but didn't fix the first one.

While writing this post, I saw the suggestion in the s3 thread to wipe cache / dalvik and repair permissions from recovery. Tried it as a last resort, and suddenly I have full functionality again. Not sure why that fixed it, when I had done those steps as part of the install, but there you go.
Thought I would go ahead and post this as fixed in case anyone else had the same issue. All the results I found searching for this problem were for other devices, or other errors for this device. Hopefully my story and link collection will be useful to someone else.
I just got my Nexus 7 (2013), "N7b" for short?, anyway, when I started it and I began downloading all my apps, it shipped about 50 with error 920. Then it started getting them all. After that it seemed episodic. For a while they would update, for a while they would error.
I also updated the apps on some of my other devices and was also getting an occasional error downloading the apps. So, i think this is a problem with google's server, not our apps or ROMs.
Works with GNex as well.

Thanks. This worked for me and my Galaxy Nexus after I clean flashed AOKP MR-1 Milestone 2, and got the errors as my apps were downloading again.
Worked for Galaxy Tab 2!
This also worked for my Galaxy Tab 2 running CM10.2. Thanks for the post.
I changed my Find 7 to run in unified storage mode and flashed the nameless rom. It booted and worked fine. I then flashed the official Xposed Lollypop zip and when I booted I get the "Google Partner Setup Stopped Working" error. I hit okay and it goes away. When I tried to install the Xposed APK, it said finished but said it didn't install. When I install an app fro the Play Store, I get the 504 error code. I've cleared the data and cash on both the play store and play services. I've rebooted multiple times. I did earlier try the experimental Xposed on this rom and it was stuck in a boot loop. If the rom is incompatible, I can use another rom. Not too picky with roms. It needs to support unified storage though. 2GB Isn't enough space for apps. (What was OPPO thinking?)

I'm not sure if you figured anything out by now but I had the same exact problem. I was on nameless 5.1.1 with xposed armv75. In the past week I noticed my phone was getting laggy as hell on nameless in the last few updates. Rebooted because of the black screen of death I was getting and when I got back into it I had app updates but they would never download. I doubt you're still go through that but if you are or angry one else reading this is just a stunning to not waste your best time. I tried it all all. Error 504 no matter what I did. I flashed euphoria and haven't looked back!
I was facing the same problem and I fixed by doing a Wipe cache partition with TWRP, I don't know why but that fixed the problem.
My tablet (Nexus 7, 2013 flo) just updated to Cyanogenmod 13 (snapshot, I was previously using the latest snapshot version of 12). it was an automatic update, where it let me know that there was snapshot version for download, then let me download it and install automatically.
When I re-started the tab my google apps were fussy so I realised I needed to update gapps. I downloaded (from opengapps) the pico version for Android 6.0 and flashed it (using twrp 2.8.7). After that I rebooted. Now as soon as I boot up, it pops up the notification "unfortunately setupwizard has stopped" and a variety of "Google play services/youtube/gmail/etc have stopped" notifications. As soon as I click OK the notification returns so I am unable to interact with the system at all.
What have I done wrong? How do I fix it? help please.

"Known broken TWRP versions: 2.8.7.0"
Perhaps it is also broken on N7?

Maybe it was that. Impatience got the better of me and I ended up getting the latest TWRP, downloading CM13 from their site and reinstalling everything (I had hoped to avoid that because of reinstalling everything but I'm not good at waiting). Something in he mix worked anyway and it's all fine now. (Except Neko Atsume which does not store anywhere and has to start over LOL).
Hi everyone
I have got a Samsung Tab Pro 10.1 (SM-T520) and it unfortunately stopped updating due to it been so old and was left behind on android KitKat 4.4.
So I decided to root it and download the lineage update to get android 7.1.2 custom ROM on it and give it a bit of life instead of never been used because it's slow and blotchy.
When I download the ROM everything worked really well, moment installed Gapps it when pear shaped. I was met with "android is starting" message stopping me from do anything but go on settings through notifications bar and it made my keyboard disappear.
So I just flashed the lineage ROM back to standard without Gapps. I have tried most of the Gapps packages that they make and I get the same thing every time with the missing keyboard.
My real question is can build a set of google apps through apk. I have tried installing google play, google play services and google play frame something (can't remember the last one) all of them either don't work or crash and just not stop being up a message saying each one of them isn't working.....what apps do need to install or flash to build up my own set of google apps without using Gapps
(Just some notes at the end to help, I rooted using root genius, my custom boot is TWRP, I installed TWRP via odin and lineage seems to be the only ROM that does a android 7 for my device, the apps I want working are google play store, google app, google maps, google assistant (if possible), gmail and maybe calender. The rest of them are on my non rooted s7e so don't need them on the tablet.)
Hope someone can help
