HDMI output with CM13? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I've been loving this phone since I first got it. Put CM13 on it. One thing I'm wondering though is if HDMI output is supported on custom roms like CM13, or if I have to stay on the stock rom in order to obtain this.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Bump to see if any info turns up.
I bought a 2nd SlimPort adapter to see if it was just the adapter that was acting up. Still don't seem to be getting any sort of reaction from the phone. I don't know if it's just not supported, or I need to run some sort of command to initiate the HDMI output. The phone is receiving a charge through the adapter, just not feeding any video out.

noting yet???

HDMI freezes; anyone know the cause of this?

I have read plenty of people who have the same problem. When I plug in the phone to the tv via hdmi the phone freezes and resets. I have not found a solution for this. It seems like it is really hit and miss. Any help?
anyone? please?
I'm not sure if this helps but I had the same issue and switched to another HDMI port on my TV and it worked flawlessly.. I notice that the port i was trying to use shows up on the TV menu as HDMI/DVI for some reason even though it is clearly NOT a DVI port
Your cable is probably bad. Mine started to freeze up after working fine for two weeks. I checked the cable and the cord was coming apart at the top by the full hdmi connector.
Two new monoprice cables I got since have been flawless. The first was an amzer from ebay.

1male-2female Splitter

Does no1 else see the need in someone producing a 1male -2female splitter for our phone considering we do not have a seperate hdmi connection. It would be great to use the otg cable along with hdmi. So we can use keyboard and mouse hookup to the tv etc.... Ive looked all over the internet for one and have not come across one yet. So if anyone is capable of making one i will be your first customer. lol
if you notice, on those MHL to HDMI connectors, they all provide a spare microUSB port in the adapter, so that you can continue to hook up more stuff to your phone, and charger your phone
the spare port is for a micro USB power input. the video out display will not work if it isnt plugged in, at least mine won't. Bluetooth controller maybe?
thanks for the replies
I guess i will have either pay someone to make one or wait to see if there will be a demand for it. Thanks again for the replies

[Request] Fixing MHL

As some of you may know, MHL is one of the main issues of GNex. There are many occurrences of the problem, broken cable, broken MHL adapter, broken phone, forgetting to connect the power cable, etc. But the most specific one is a software problem. The dreaded reboot is one of the specific clues. Whenever you've connected the power cable to the adapter and adapter to the GNex, as soon as you plug the HDMI cable, your GNex will boot endlessly until you've removed the HDMI cable.
The strange thing is, this mostly happens with SD-04 devices as far as my research. Some ROMs fixes this problem, like bigxie's Android 4.2.1 JOP40D: Rooted Busybox Deodexed. But noone really understands why this ROM enables MHL, whereas normal ROMs breaks this feature.
Any help from experienced developers would be most appreciated. And if you have any info that can help to solve this problem, please add your feedback.

Help with MHL HDTV adapter

Well.... hi everyone
It's been a long time since i wrote in english xD... so sry if I make any mistake.
The problem:
I got a HDTV MHL adapter... It is original and its for s3 as far as i know it should work for the note 2... i tried tons of times to connect my GT- N7100 to my smartv and didnt work, then tried on a 3d Bravia and nothing... Yes, I connected the adapter to the power - HDMI - Device and the note starts to charge but no msj is shown... also i tried the HDMI cable with my laptop and runs perfect.
Too late but I started to read a little about any issue about it and find out it might be an issue with the root... rooted phones doesnt run mhl properly and before i run the unroot and loose all those things that didnt cost me anything but time i want to be sure
So 1st I want to know if theres any rooted person with the mhl hdtv working
Or any rooted user has found a way to make it work
Thank you very very very much
Hi there,
I have a rooted n7100 and using an MHL adapter and it works fine.
I tried several MHL adapter and this is the only adapter to work as far as i know
http://www.amazon.com/Skiva-Samsung...TF8&qid=1372308885&sr=8-1&keywords=mhl+note+2
I have used XNote Rom, Moon Rom, ARHD Rom and they all work
does your adapter have the mini cable that is specifically for the note 2?
When i plug in the cable it shows on my phone "HDMI Output" or something like that.
I know what your saying that the phone charges, it just means that the cable you are using is not for the note 2
I am rooted and use my MHL adapter all the time...no issues. I am running a stock rom.

Whenever I go to plug it in it constantly goes off and on...Im guessing something is jacked with the port bc whenever I have the phone at a certain angle it works but then once I move the phone bam it stops working and the output to TV goes black...It cant be anything with the HDMI cable bc Ive tried three, & all three work on my XBOX360...Trying to find a tutorial for the HDMI port. The speaker looks pretty easy to swap out.

so the HDMI port is a little jacked up? also i managed to get my speaker working without a replacement, all you need is a needle, and it should work, i could post a video if you like, and if it doesnt work yyou can just go ahead and by another.
If you can post a video on how to fix it with the needle that would be great. I ordered one any ways they are cheap.

It doesn't work. Thought installing a new hdmi port could fix it to like new condition. Also, I thought the method to fix the speaker is by using a magnet? Your video talks about using a pin?

I used my method, and it worked fine. You can try it if you like. Also, does the little HDMI logo pop-up on the notification bar, sometimes I have problems getting it to work also, a reboot helps, go into your settings and make sure it's on automatic. And make sure whatever you're plugging it into is searching for signal

At times it works but the cord has to be angled a certain way. If you dont have it setup exactly at the right angle you lose signal....The only way I can get it to work is by holding the phone & HDMI cord a certain way...I know it has something to do with the port bc Ive tried the HDMI cord on an XBOX and it works fine...I just got the HDMI port in the mail today but I dont have any video on how to remove & install a new one.

I was thinking it was the cord but. The hdmi should be the same way as removing the charger port. You'll need to open the phone and solder very carefully. I recommend taking this to a phone store, make sure it's not a retail store like Verizon it something, like a cheap repair place. Tell them you have the part and they will only charge labor, ask how much the labor costs, mine cost$10. That's the only way I know how to fix that hdmi port

Well are there any other tests I can do to figure out if its the HDMI port or cord? I always thought it was the port bc even my charger port is somewhat loose & if I dont angle a cord correctly it wont charge my phone..

maybe trying another cord? if its doing it on BOTH charger port and hdmi then thats just wierd.. but try another cord and if the same problem maybe both ports got loose, it happens.
Ok I got the HDMI to work it was the HDMI cord that was causing the problem. I used a MOTORola HDMI cord & it worked perfectly! But now I was getting slow downs with my ROM & decided to wipe it to get rid of unneeded apps and data. Well now when I go use the HDMI app it doesnt work!! It says cable undetected but it obviously shows on the tv that its getting a signal...wthhh!?
