I searched and didn't find anything, so sorry if this has been discussed already. I've got my work emails going to my phone, and the setting is to not mark emails as read when downloaded to phone, but it still does just that. As soon as the emails are showing up on my phone, they are marked read on my server, which marks them read on all other devices/PCs. This is starting to become a problem at work because I'm missing important emails that come in when I don't see them on my phone. They are marked read on the server even when I don't open them on the phone, just the fact that they are delivered to my phone marks them as read online. Does anyone else have this issue or know of a solution?

I turned mine off and I am still receiving them. Is there a conclusive way to deal with this error?
It seems that the notification system is a little bit buggy. My problem: I always get multiple identical notifications. Mostly 2, sometimes up to 5 messages. It would be nice if this could be fixed!
im also getting them to threads im not even suscribed too and ive turned email opts off weeks ago lol
I couldn't find anything wrong in the settings, I've asked our sysadmin to take a look at the issue.
Best regards,
Flar

Hi, i re-checked with out sysadmin, it seems you turned off the option to be automatically subscribed to a thread, but you still have some old subscriptions for which you still receive the notification e-mails. Could you check in user cp -> list subscriptions?
Best regards,
Flar
Strange: For answers 3-5 I didn't got a notification. Just for message 6.
What I also noticed: Since some time the link in the notification e-mail just opens the current page, but doesn't scroll down to the specific topic.
Hi Guys,
We've been looking into the multiple mail issue and it should be solved, if you receive multiple messages for the same post after today please let me know.
Best regards,
Flar
I had 2 new mails in my Gmail. I read one, and couldn't see the other one, even though while I am in the vanilla Gmail app it still says 1 new mail at the top of my inbox. Ordinarily I would have just assumed a glitch and moved on.
Except right now I'm sitting in front of my computer and logged on via my computer. Sure enough, I do have a new mail that I still haven't read. I go back to my phone and the notification bar isn't showing any new mail but inside the Gmail app it shows one unread email. Though the view shows everything greyed out and the new mail which came today is not visible.
No refresh, exiting and re-entering or moving around the screen can fix it. I wish I could keep it like this to test what is going on, but I need to read and respond to the mail.
This is a strange one.
Same problem
I hadn't yet worked out the details, but I am almost certain that I've had the same problem. I certainly seem to see nothing new, even although the app says 1 unread.
Looks a bit like a sync error with the cloud. Anyone else got any thoughts?
[EDIT]
I just looked at my Desire and it told me I had 8 unread messages. Opening GMail it said the same in the title bar but only showed 6.
I opened GMail on my Mac and sure enough, I had 8 messages; there was nothing obviously different with the 2 missing ones.
I used Search on my phone to look for the 'missing' messages and to my surprise, they came up! So they are there on the phone, but not showing in the list? So my idea about a sync error is not so good!

Are the extra emails in the inbox, or do you have a rule which applies a label to them and moves them out of the inbox?
Good suggestion.
I know in my case (I just checked) it wasn't labelled and wasn't due to skip the inbox.
I think I may have had this once before and it is rare. But it is strange.

In my experience it happens sometimes but I have solved opening from the web browser Gmail, then you'll find the unread email. Once the unread email is opened, the notification will disappear. But maybe this is a different situation. I hope this can help you.

Yes, this happens from time to time. It's not a desire thing, it used to happen on my G1. I think it's normally a mail within a threaded mail that does it. Annoying but logging into the gmail website usually reveals the answer.
I had the exact same thing happen, not sure why it does it BUT i found the emails...
So SOLUTION/LOCATION of hidden emails are... in email app press menu, goto view labels and hit All Mail, this shows up the messages that didnt show up in the Inbox...
Hope this helps
I've just lost track of the threads where they were resolved.
1) LED notifications (for anything) only lasting 5 minutes or so. I want my LED to keep flashing until i unlock the phone and clear the alert/notification. Thats how it was on my G1 on 1.6 and it was great. I'm certain i saw an app that could fix it somewhere, but i cant find the thread, and no searching for relevant seeming names brings anything up.
2) A bunch of unknown texts/network texts/various other oddities all being attributed to a random facebook/phonebook contact. I saw there was at least a partial solution for this somewhere, but once again, lost the thread
Thanks for any help you can give, really appreciate it.
1) Missed Reminder app does the trick.
I use missed call from the market for the alerts.
I think your sms issue is to do with facebook synching contacts that have odd phone numbers, or text where there should be a phone number. if I remember correctly you need to either delete those facebook friends, or stop the facebook contacts sync.
Hello All,
I've looked around on XDA and gone through many pages of Google search results to no avail...I've seen several folks complain about this issue, but I've yet to find a solution, or even a hint of one.
When forwarding an email, my EVO sends the email string as an attachment in .eml format, instead of as in-line text. So, the recipient of the forward can only read the email string on their desktop client (such as Outlook), but not on their device. On the device, they only see my EVO email signature, and the actual email string I want them to be able to read is attached as .eml, which the device can't read.
I have been able to recreate this same issue on EVO's and on Droid X's, all stock, using the stock email application. Poking around the 'net, it seems to be a general issue with Android, as I saw several N1 users reporting the same issue. I believe I saw somewhere that Touchdown does not have this issue, but I'd prefer not to go that route.
All devices are in a corporate environment, syncing with Exchange.
If you are reading this and have not heard of a solution, please say as much. If you have seen a solution, by all means post it!
Thanks to all.
Workaround
Well, after letting my question hang for a couple of days, and poking around the internet a while longer, it seems this is an unresolved issue with 2.2.
Here's to hoping 2.3 fixes this, but in the meantime, I've stumbled across a workaround: instead of forwarding the message to a recipient, hit Reply and change the destination address to the one you want, and everything in the original message stays intact.
Interesting bug.
About 750 emails from the past 3 weeks suddenly reappeared not just on the DHD but also on my other computers (they were presumably reloaded from the server). That included valid emails as well as spam emails. This is a business email account and it is downloaded by 3 other PCs as well as on the DHD so it's a considerable amount of work to identify the duplicates and delete them.
This has never happened before but has happened twice since I bought the DHD a month or so ago so, although I don't know for sure, I think it was the DHD that caused the problem.
The re-downloaded emails included both deleted and undeleted emails so it (presumably) is nothing to do with the "Delete off server" check box. That is now checked.
I want to know what is causing this peculiar action so that I can avoid it in the future. I haven't found this problem by searching the forum but, if it is there, please give me a link. Any ideas?
Thanks, Brian
(PS deleted from the General forum so reposted here)
Bump
Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.
