Hi,
I have the newer model (2015) of the Amazon Fire. I am currently logged in using my sister's Amazon account. I live in an apartment building so other devices may be near by.
About a week ago, I got a message "invitation to connect" from a Samsung LED 32, for some reason I stupidly hit accept. Today I got the same thing from a 55" Samsung which I do not own. I have been using my Fire on a 59" Samsung which is connected by HDMI.
I am not sure what is causing this message, if someone is trying to hack my Fire from my apartment building or someone in my sister's family is just trying to add their device (which is not local so it can't be by bluetooth), But I think the message is someone trying to connect by bluetooth because if it was just someone adding a device it would not come through my device, I think.
Anyone else familiar with the "Invitation to connect method" and how I can learn more and possible remove any device connected that is not suppose to be ?
Thanks.
go to amazon account and remove any device that doesn't belong to you

Just received my amazon fire tv in canada and having issues with it right out of the box. Trying to connect to my wifi at home and it doesnt want to connect. I have 2 fire tv's and they both do the same thing - unable to connect to network. I knew that I'd ave to use a vpn to be able to use hulu plus etc as they are geo blocked content but id thought that id be able to at least side load xbmc and use my canadian netflix account. Are amazon fire tv's, the units themselves somehow geoblocked? Any insight would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks in advance to those that reply
Did you put in your Amazon account yet? FTV needs to connect thru your Amazon account & the country in account should be US (Google on how to do it if you havn't done this yet).
Is it just the Wi-Fi, did you try Ethernet connection?
I don't think there's any geoblocking in the device itself (till the time your Amazon account is set to US) as I am using mine in Canada w/o any issues.
Hello everyone,
I'm hoping someone could help me with an issue I'm having.
I recently bought two of these from ebay from the states and I get the cant contact servers error. Is this because I'm in Ireland and it wants to be in the US?
I have registered with an American address etc and I can install apps via the amazon app store on my pc via the bowser (so it's connecting)
Everything else works fine, Youtube, Twitch and sideloaded XBMC etc
Any ideas?
Why would you like to update?
I would clap in f***ing hands if I got a FireTV wich comes with an rootable firmware.
Try with another device (computer, laptop, androiddevice) in the same network to load this file here: (obfuscated) bueller-ota-51.1.1.0_user_511069920-signed.bin
Can you load this?
If not, try this here:
(obfuscated-otav3) bueller-ota-51.1.4.0_user_514006420-signed.bin

You need to make sure your Device is "Managed" by Amazon.com and NOT Amazon.co.uk.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200875610
You will need to have a valid US Address and then once you have made sure the AFTV is Managed by Amazon.com do a Factory Reset of the Fire Stick and then go through the setup again and all will function fine.
Once you are setup you can change back to Device Management by Amazon.co.uk...
I have done this a number of times now and this is the only way to get the Fire Stick working outside the US as it is not released anywhere else yet.

Hi can you go into more detail on this please and explain exactly what to do? Just got my fire tv stick today and in the same situation as you.
Thanks
Go to amazon.com, create an account, put in any US address you want, add a 1 click US address as well
Then on the stick, reset to factory settings and sign in with your new account, it'll work fine after that
We bought 2 Fire phones for our recent trip to Europe. After we got home and took out the French SIM cards the phones no longer connect to WIFI. I cannot find any information in troubleshooting regarding this problem. In addition I cannot find any type of contact phone number for support. We have reset the router (our Samsungs are working on WIFI just fine). Someone mentioned a "re flash" what is that? Suggestions?
why don't you reach out to Amazon first? Go to their site, under manage devices and content dropdown menu under your account on top right,go to the center choice of devices, chose your fire phone and you should be able to work the help menu to get them to call you- if not just get to any help menu to get them to call you and they will switch you to the fire phone dept.
Hi All,
Hopefully someone can help with restoring my fireTv, It has been working fine for the last year with kodi installed.
Two days ago screen just went blank and all i get is cant connect to servers, when I enter setting all the sub menus are not visible and it wont allow a factory restore via menu or from remote with holding back/right.
I connected via adb and loaded firestarter which allows me to see icons but again I cant load any firetv apps, I can however load netflix/kodi etc from firestarter.
Any thoughts or advise as how I can restore would be much appreciated.
Regards
Martin
This is a YouTube link to problem if someone can have a look please and shed some light. uyGIN3i3ZAw
Sounds like either something went wrong during an update, or for some reason your firetv has been blacklisted by amazon. Is it a ftv1 or 2? What os is it on? Is it rooted/custom recovery installed?

It's got latest firmware and has updated as norm but still the same. It's not rooted. Ftv1

Out of curiosity OP, have you been able to resolve this issue? Note I've been battling the same thing for the past 3 days (all the while I haven't had a single issue in over a year from owning the device). Even after a factory reset I can't seem to connect...
Note: Should Amazon blacklist a device, is there a way of finding this out without directly asking Amazon?
I have the same problem as yours, but i already solved it in the morning. I moved my aftv stick to another tivi and tried to connect to different network that does not block anything ( i release firewall on router and connect to the guest network,) and then it easy connects to the amazon server. After that, I go back to my firewalled network, it works as the way it is...no problem so far!
Well guys I contacted Amazon and after a brief chat I was asked to watch screen, under 30 seconds later firetv up and running

as for me, I had to de-register and re-register my FireTV device.
Hi folks not sure if this has been discussed or where I should put this, long story short I am trying to use the Nickalodeon apk on
my Amazon Fire TV as we canceled it from Comcast, but they have not notified Nick so via my phone or online we can still access it.
However, when I installed the apk on the Fire TV and go through the approval process via my phone, Comcast/Xfinity does not show
up as a provider since I guess, they know we are installing it on an Amazon device. So has anyone discuss this for other apps
where Comcast will not allow you to verify your account and is there any work around?
Thanks
Mike
