New note 5/owner and surprised that I unplugged last night at midnight at 100% but when I woke up at 7am it was down to 80%. All apps were closed, phone on wifi and sitting by Ned. Is this normal or what's going on?

turn off location
Thanks bigcid. Turned it off and will test tonight and report back tomorrow.

Turned off location, unplugged at 100% charge 9:51pm last night. Woke up at 6:25am today Sunday and down to 85%. I swear, MM can not come soon enought. Luckily while I get ready for work I can get it charged back up to 92% and while driving to work AndroidAuto in the car will top it off to 100% when I get to work.
Definitely there is a big difference from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 in my Nexus 6P. When I unplug it and wake up the next day, phone will be at 97-96% charge.

Have u tried factory reset just to see if that helps. Not bad idea to do this after a upgrade with new baseband & all bloat ware update.

Try this. Go to settings - connection - wifi - on top right is more, click on this and choose advanced - turn off option " Always allow scanning " . You should be litte better. When you in battery info check what else you can turn off if you click on " Android system"
Good luck.

It's sad we have to go through all this to make the battery last. I am very disappointed with the Note 5 personally, The Note 4 was a better device.
All this fast charge this and that is stupid. I'd rather have a slow charging phone that has excellent battery life vs a fast charging phone that eats the battery up to hell and back.

Have you always had these issues, or just recently? I had similar issues which I tracked down to an app not letting the phone sleep. Once I removed it, I went from 3 hours back to my normal 10.

Have you tried any battery-saving apps such as SetCPU or Juice Defender? Tried using Spare Parts to see what might be causing the problem?
Just using SetCPU alone I can get several days idling with minimal use and a full day with normal use.

Before I'd take my phone to sprint I would at the very least put an ota version of stock sense and make sure you don't have any obvious giveaways like a custom splash screen or something.
If I were you I would try "re training" the battery just to rule it out. I'm referring to the process of charging until full then going through the process of charging it over and over while power off. A lot of people call it voodoo bull crap but I've seen it work on two evos in the last week. There is also some sound engineering logic behind the process. What I did was the following exactly as posted....
1. With your phone on, charge your phone until your charging LED goes from red to green
2. Unplug your phone from it's charger
3. Power off your phone as soon as the green charging LED goes off (basically about 3 seconds after you unplug your charger)
4. Leave your phone alone for 10 seconds - just to make sure it is in a fully powered off state.
5. Plug your charger into the phone (your charging LED should be red when you plug it in)
6. When your charging LED changes from red to green, unplug the charger (usually takes only 1-2 minutes but I've seen 1 post stating it took up to 30 minutes)
7. Wait for your green charging LED to go off (about 3 seconds or so)
8. Repeat steps 5 - 7 at least 10 times - I recommend you put on an hour long tv show and pop a beer at this point
9. Leaving the charger plugged in, boot the phone into recovery mode
10. Wipe your battery stats. I wipe at least twice but now were getting into personal matters.
9. With charging cable still plugged in, boot up the phone.
10. Reset/recalibrate any battery app you may have installed
11. Unplug your charger and Use your phone normally. See if battery life is any better.
It's worth a shot. If that doesn't help I tend to agree sounds like a battery problem. Good luck!
Tiepoz baught two yoo bi swype"3
sounds like its not sleeping !
system panel is a great tool for fining whats killing your battery
In addition to not sleeping, what's your signal like? If it's below -100dB, your phone's probably constantly scanning for a better signal, and hopping back and forth between Sprint and a roaming tower.
Hey guys!
My phone died on me yesterday since I forgot to charge it the day before, it was dead in my pocket for 3 hours until I got home.
Without bothering to do anything, I simply plugged my dead phone into the charger and went to bed. I woke up today, unplugged it from the charger and the phone stayed with the charging symbol stuck, I pressed the power button and nothing so I had to make a battery pull to get it to turn on.
Any issue to what could have caused this? also any interesting battery saving tips? sprints crappy 3g network in my area is draining the battery quickly so I turned off mobile data.
EDIT: Snap, I think this belongs in the Q&A section sorry mods
forcing 2g mode should help.
you can also get a spare battery
letting a lithium battery drain to 0 reduces its life.
Not sure what could have happened to make your phone get stuck at boot when charging.
As far as battery saving tips, there are tons all over these forums, but it really depends on what you are willing to give up as far as features in order to save battery. You can always turn down screen brightness, turn off WiFi/Bluetooth/3G, uninstall battery-hogging apps, turn off sync and background data etc.. Its all about finding a good balance though.

you should try to figure out where the drain is coming from using something like betterbatterystats. If it is under warrenty I would take it back. If not id install 4.1.1 again.
Also you could use another cable or charger just to be sure it's not the charger that's being delivered is too low

My charger is 5v 2a original charger. It charges other phones normally. If there isnt any way to fix it ill wait for 4.2. I dont want to back 4.1.1. Im a bit lazy
Emotion rom 4.3 is awsum
Get the updated MB2 version rom
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
I dont want any custom rom. If there isnt any fix for it ill wait for 4.2
I will bump this...because I'm having the same problem... I hear about 7 hours onscreen time and the best I usually get is 4.5...right now I'm at 63% and unplugged it four hours ago... current on screen time is 1 hr 21 minutes... granted it was on full brightness but usually I keep it at half.
Here is my problem.. when i check apps running I have 8...but when I close ram I get 52 applications closed.. HUH?
Help us track these down... I have the phone rooted but am using stock since nov or dec. I don't know what to search for to track these processes down... unfortunately sync being off doesn't seem to work.

3g is on... I really don't want to have to manually disable data everytime I unlock my phone, I would prefer to make the sync do that.
What about the 52 apps running at all times?

Ram closes many system apps as well which will be reloaded within the next few minutes.
If you do clear memory and leave the phone for a while then do a clear memory again you will be surprised to see the no of apps.
Use bbs to see what is causing battery drain.

Have you tried to flash a new KERNEL or reflash the original KERNEL. I would backup the phone cwm or TWP.
If you're phone is actually charging, then the old battery stats have not been erased. If unsure let it run down to zero, switch the phone off and put it to charge.
Good luck, I haven't had any problems with 4.1.1 dont see a need to upgrade.
RED OR BLUE YOU CHOOSE !!!
Thanks all. But it isnt any kernel problem i think. It occured after 4.1.2 and its about processors heat. On 4.1.1 when using phone on charging there was heat on top of screen. Sometimes cant touch there. After 4.1.2 this problem fixed but charging problem occured. I think they tried to decrease this heat but from wrong way. If i cant use this phone why im paying this money
Anyone having problems with it not powering up. It will charge to about 8-12% then shut off. It gets really hot when it's charging but I can't get anywhere with this watch. Getting really frustrated, been trying to get it work for over 5 hrs. Has anyone had this issue?

Boot it up. Press and hold power button. Chose reset device from menu. When it boots back up don't touch until charged.
Definitely had issues like this. I ultimately exchanged it (got lucky with Best Buy having it in stock) but I read here that you may want to reset it, and charge it while its completely off, to full battery, Before trying to sync and use it. My defective 360 wouldn't even factory reset, so YMMV.

Don't pair it to your phone. A service kicks off to do an update but you can't until it's 80% or more charged. As others have said, do the rest then leave it alone.
Same thing happened for me.

I'm having the exact same issue. How do you know when it is charged fully? When it is off there is no indicator of charge level. The Galaxy gear and gear live I had both had a battery icon when charging while off. I hope the battery is not a dead since the gear and live watches had awesome battery life for me...
Like a dumbass i tried to pair without fully charging it and was unsuccessful. Now the watch is dead and on the charger. Hopefully it charges or I will have to return this.
It took me about 10 attempted charging cycles over 24 hours before it worked. Usually the watch was off and it would be pretty hot. I noticed the charger was only a .5a so I changed the adapter to a 1.8a one I had. I left the watch on where the blue circle and time was showing and it charged right up from 3 to 100 in about an hour and today I used it from 2pm till 1030 pm with ambient screen and it was down to 39 now on charger for about 20 mins and it is up to 77. So far so good after a nightmarish 1st day...

yeah, I'm noticing my watch feeling hot while being charged. Sadly, it still won't power on. :crying:
It will, just wait a little while then when it is on the cradle press the power button for 3-5secs then it will come on. On the stock charger you will prob see the power circle start dropping then shut off. Plug in a higher rated Micro USB charger into the dock and it should charge fine.

Is this safe for the hardware? My moto 360 keeps floating between two percentages after about 2 hours. I plugged in the charger from my note II, and it seems to charge really quick. But is this higher amperage safe for the moto 360, since the stock is rated at a much lower amperage?

The device will draw what it needs a .5a charger will provide up to that amount of current. a 2a charger will provide up to 2a of current but a device may not pull that much. It is generally thought that for LiIon batteries that providing a low maximum current and taking longer to charge will make the batteries last longer, so if you dont mind a slow charge cycle, which for a watch that should be charged while you are sleeping it doesnt matter then you should go back to the stock adapter to maximize total life.
I went off charger at 7:30am and now at 11 I am at 65%, which is terrible, but I'll wait a week to pass judgement, but my gear live and galaxy gear 1 with tizen both had awesome battery life of 2 full days with more than moderate use.... The Galaxy Gear 1 on Android was lucky to get more than 14 hrs of use.
Thanks everyone for helping me get my Watch up and running. For anyone who is new and reading this, fully charge your watch before pairing it since it will need at least 80% battery so it can update itself. Of course, this has already been stated in the thread and thanks to those folks who stated it already and all the credit goes to them.
I'm having this issue as well. I've been trying to charge it for the past few hours and it never gets past 10%. I kept trying to reset the device and it would never work. It kept coming up in the "Just a minute" mode which seems to eat the battery.
But finally on my last reset attempt, the device rebooted immediately and came back up on the "Select language" screen. I now have the device charging and am hopeful it will work this time.
But my big question is: how do you know when it's fully charged? Without knowing what the current charge level is, I'm afraid to try the update procedure or I may get stuck in the same "Just a minute" loop again. Anyone have any ideas on how to determine the charge level prior to setting up the device?
I killed mine. I tried to pair, got stuck on the "just a minute" screen and then it died. I charged it for a couple of hours and it still would get stuck. Somehow, I got to settings (still don't know how) and did a factory reset. Then, everything seemed ok and it was charged at 100% when I paired and did the update.
However, after the update, I got into a boot loop where it would show the M logo with the marks around the dial, flash to some colored balls, then say "android wear" and then it would reboot. Tech support from Motorola couldn't help me and finally after a few hours the watch died. I put it back on the charger and it would eventually fire back up and go into the bootloop again. It did it all night last night.
Furthermore, my indicator on the charger never lit up either.
I took it back and "exchanged" it for a new one that the store said would ship this week.
As much as I was anticipating this thing showing up, I'm pretty disappointed already.
Finally got mine booted. After successfully resetting the device (back to the "select a language" screen), I had it on the charger for about an hour. Then I tried again and it went through the whole installation successfully.
Ugh! Wish I read this first. Unable to get it to turn on at all, cannot get it charged over 6%

I was in the same boat. The trick is to get the device reset. When I was trying to do that (via the menu that comes up when you press-and-hold the watch button), it would sit there and do nothing. Then 10 seconds later it would power down. But then as it charged, it would power back up and the "Just a minute" message would appear.
To get it to work, I turned the device off and let it charge. When it powered back on, I turned it off immediately and kept charging it. Then eventually, the charge jumped up to about 13%. I tried the device reset option again and this time it powered down immediately and booted back up with the "select a language" screen. I then turned off the display and let it charge for an hour. After that, I went through the setup and it worked.

Got my Moto 360 at 8 PM last night, went home and tried to install it.. of course it full drained.
Set it back to charging, took forever to get to 14% so i could 'reset' it.
This morning it was at 100% so i went through the whole process again it said 'downloading' for a while and after that i got a black screen.
Its still on the charger with a black screen now.
Any one had similar issues?
Its such a simple device i just don't feel like it should cause this much trouble to set it up.

Sounds like you got one with a bad battery? 15 min should get you to 15% and like an hour or two to 100%...
