Hello everyone,

As you can see, my CID is "HTC_332" and my version-main: 1.57.599.1. I installed a custom recovery (TWRP) and I forgot to backup my stock recovery now I can't receive OTA updates (doubting that I receive something as my phone is from Latin America...).
The thing is I have download a 1.54.401.10 nandroid backup and also the 1.54.401.10 stock recovery (both from Europe), my phone has bootloader unlock and S-ON. I was able to do a restored from a nandroid backup and also flash the stock recovery (also both from Europe). After this my phone is working just fine, still on my bootloader shows "TAMPERED" and "Unlocked".
Well my question is this, after doing this am I going to be able to receive OTA's updates even if my phone has CID from Latin America (htc_332) ?
It is going to affect something because I flashed an Europe Firmware and stock recovery on my phone?
What is the difference between Firmware 1.57.599.1 and 1.54.401.10? (which one is better or which one you guys recommend?)
Thanks in advance for any info.

You will receive OTA but it will fail the verification and you won't be able to install it.
What you have now is same as you flash a custom ROM. No working OTA for your device.
You can only do OTA with your own stock ROM and stock Recovery.

Thank you for the Quick respond, is there a way to get the stock recovery for my version-main: 1.57.599.1?
What about if I change my CID to SuperCID will be able to receive OTA updates with the European Stock ROM?
I don't see anywhere stock recovery 1.57.599.1, only see one backup.
You can only change to SuperCID when your device is S-Off.
To receive and install European OTA, you need S-Off then change to any EU CID (a few of them) or SuperCID and change your MID currently 0P6B16000 to 0P6B10000

Hi Folks,
I just S-OFF my HTC One M8, Change my MID to 0P6B10000 install a stock rom (1.54.401.10) and also its Stock Recovery. After that I remove the tampered and the unlock notification, I ran the "Check Update"and SCORE!!! I receive an OTA Update. Now my question is this: If I change my MID to the Unlocked one (0P6B12000) Do I will receive OTAS anyways? (even if my bootloader is unlocked and my phone is rooted)
Thanks again.

IMEI is personal information, and you do NOT want it posted on the internet. You really should delete it from the first post.

You will be, as long as MID, CID and stock ROM (as well as FW of course) you installed all match each other, as those things are what the OTA server is going to check and match.

Your MID don't has to be changed, as it is the HTC WWE MID. and with superCID you definitely will receive OTA.
HTC WWE is in fact the best MID you could have, as far as I can imagine

any help would be appreciated.
Because your device is wrongly configured.
How can you have a device with EU MID but HKG CID then expect OTA to lollipop ?
How can you expect an OTA for Australia when your device not showing any Australia details ?
To have OTA you must have either of these CID/MID :
EU/EU
HKG/HKG
AUS/AUS
well that explains why, so how would i go about fixing this, all these numbers confuse the hell out of me.
You have to decide which region that you want your device to be ?
I don't think you originally have a AUS region. I believe it is a HKG device.
And I suggest to completely convert it to EU region which suit you more.
I'll tell you what to do after you made your decision.

ill go EU, i ordered phone online so its not from Australia. also i greatly appreciate any help you provide, possibly expect a donation from me
Your MID is ready for EU version.
What you need to do :
1. Copy all your important files from Internal Storage to PC as this procedure will wipe everything in the phone and you'll have a new out of the box phone with lollipop.
2. Download 4.16.401.10 RUU ZIP : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B17smFr95pleU2NqcVB3NWxoNnM/view
rename it ruu.zip
3. Download htc_fastboot.exe : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8L4pkbzdlR3eTlJSjdKVEdHX1U/view
4. Change your CID from HKG HTC__622 to SuperCID 11111111
boot your device to fastboot/bootloader and connect to PC where you'll see fastboot usb in red
run this command fastboot oem writecid 11111111
5. Put the downloaded htc_fastboot.exe at the same folder that you have your fastboot.exe; same goes the ruu.zip
6. Run this command
fastboot oem rebootRUU - this will put your device is RUU mode
htc_fastboot flash zip ruu.zip - this will erase everything in your device and replace it with the latest lollipop image
This process will take a few minutes, and the phone will reboot a few times but once done it'll say complete
7. Once completed, reboot run setup wizard ... done
8. Optional .. to flash a custom ROM, you need to install a custom recovery. I' using the latest TWRP 2.8.6.0
Note : there is no need to change your device from S-Off to S-On and there is no need to relock bootloader.
Credit to @EddyOS for the files from his thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735235
Good luck ... I'll check your progress later when I'm home (in 3 hours)
downloading now, will report back shortly.
so far so good, up to the optimizing apps part, anything else i need to do? like change CID or anything? or will i be able to still get OTA updates in the future with 11111111?
No need to do anything else, leave it 11111111. You'll get OTA when there is one.
Thanks man, you literally have no idea I've been trying to figure all this out, enjoy the donation, don't go spending it all at once

Please could someone which firmware file I need to flash in order to get lollipop, ultimate goal is to install custom CM12. When ever I try to install CM12 via twrp when selecting and trying to install the package I get an error saying that I cant install due to bootloader being 3.16.0.0000 and need to update to 3.18.0.0000 or 3.19.0.0000 and have been told that I require a firmware update to get this? Is this correct?
Thanks

Hello,
With the release of new firmwares for our M8, I am a little bit lost with the versions
Currently, my M8 have the following setup:
HBOOT-3.19.0.0000
RADIO-1.25.214500021.06G
OpenDSP-v48.2.2-00564-M8974_F0.1211
As I am using Android 6 GPe H10 ROM (but I don't exclude to reinstall a Sense ROM), maybe a new firmware (Bootloader, Radio, etc...) exist and is adviced to install?
Many thanks in advance!
Is there an OS number listed on the bootloader screen, or is it blank?
Do fastboot getvar all (if you know how) and post the output (delete IMEI and serial number).
Indeed, there is no OS version in the "OS-" field

Yes, the blank main version and SuperCID (11111111) does make it hard to determine your CID and main version. Unfortunately, model number 0P6B10000 (Euro version) has quite a few unbranded and branded CIDs (and main versions) associated with it.
On the other hand, you are already using an Android 6 ROM, and updating the firmware would probably have minimal (if any) benefit. I'm using the Developers Edition Sense Marshmallow ROM, and haven't even bothered to update to MM firmware. Despite the fact that I fully know what my main version and CID are, and can pretty easily update it. MM runs fine on the LP firmware, so I haven't felt the need to update.
Originally, my CID was ORANG203 but I replaced it to SuperCID in order to don't be bothered by flashing
However, thanks for telling me that upgrading the firmware will not add any benefits to my M8, so I will let it "as is"

You sure about the CID? I don't see it on the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
And the thread seems to be pretty comprehensive, in my experience (at least for Euro CIDs).
You're right, it was ORANG202
I have found back the log of the operation

Don't see that CID on the thread either. If it was a known CID ( with files on the linked thread) the process to update the firmware if you chose to do so would be to restore the stock 4.xx nandroid corresponding to your CID, restore the stock recovery, then OTA update to install the Marshmallow firmware.
But as already discussed, if everything is working fine, there is very little (if any) reason to update the firmware at this time.
Thanks for the advice, so I will not update anything if nothing new or nothing will be improved

Some would say, as a general rule its usually best for your firmware to correspond with your software (ROM).
But my phone has been working perfectly running Marshmallow ROM on LP firmware. So I have to assume the changes are very minor. And if you have had a similar experience, I don't see a compelling reason to change, either. Especially if the stock nandroid collection doesn't have files listed for your CID/version number anyway (although if you like, you could ask ckpv5 if he has access to them and could post - he's pretty amazing that way). Basically, if you don't have the stock ROM and stock recovery, or alternately the RUU or signed firmware.zip for your version; there is no way to update, anyway.
Hey all,
I recently bought a "new but unboxed" M8 off ebay which was sold as unlocked. It came with 4.4.2 but did not have an update button (it was literally missing) so tried to update it manually.
I have tried numerous RRU's and Stock ROMs but none have succeeded to allow me past the bootloader while the RUU.exe just fails each time error 155. The only ROM which worked was Skydragon but wish to go back to stock Marshmallow for OTA.
I get the feeling my phone is actually a US variant Sprint by looking at the codes, but please correct me if I am wrong ? It is also a developer CID of 11111111, so should be able to use any ROM ?

First thing - should the "version - main" be blank like this?
The MID seems to point to a sprint carrier but I am in the UK - will this affect me?
I have gone through an entire folder of different stock roms/recoveries etc but feel at a dead end.
Error codes I have had are : 41 model id check fail 24 parsing android-info fail RUU error 155 unknown
So in short - what are my options here?
Do I change the MID (is this safe?) and get a corresponding set of ROM, Recovery and Firmware?

CID HTC__001 & HTC__J15
MID 0P6B67000
6.21.401.1
I feel so overwhelmed with the sheer number of different versions/models I would really appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance,

I feel so overwhelmed with the sheer number of different versions/models I would really appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance,

Yes it's a Sprint phone. You need Sprint firmware for that. 6.20.651.3 is the newest for Sprint. If the firmware doesn't contain the 651 part, then you can't flash it to your phone.
Your version-main is blank from using an outdated TWRP that had a bug in it (2.7.x.x) Use TWRP 2.8.7.0 or newer. If you flash new TWRP, then firmware after, the version-main will show your firmware version properly.
I'm not sure if your phone will work on another network besides the Sprint network. Maybe, if there is a CDMA carrier in the UK, it might work. But I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.
Thanks for the informative response, this should help a lot.
The phone worked on Skydragon (except the phone wouldn't ring when called like it was on constant silent mode) which is why I decided to attempt flashing it to stock.
Is there no way to unlock it to get rid of the Sprint? Its not a network I have ever heard of here in the UK. Really annoyed at the eBay seller, luckily I haven't left feedback yet so might just complain.

I don't know if there is a way to SIM unlock the Sprint version. It should never have been purchased for use on any network except Sprint. If the eBay listing was at all misleading about this (claiming that it was unlocked, Euro version, etc.) you may have some recourse through eBay, if the seller will not give you a refund or exchange (you should definitely try the seller first).
People always confused with MID 0P6B67000
Sprint is 0P6B70000
This 0P6B67000 is middle east/egypt variant, running also x.xx.401.x but the one for normal EU.

Wow. To tell you the truth, I glanced and saw 70000, probably because I didn't know about 67000 and my brain just focussed on the "7".
Thanks for the information. I'll look out for it in the future.

here it is not mentioned about your reply; it's about the bottom part of the post #1. the answer given by you is exactly correct. I think your brain focuses on numbers correctly.

m8_wlv is Verizon device
version main & mid is WWE device not Verizon
i believe you need to change your mid and flash stock firmware for your device then flash the RUU which meant for your device
Sent from my HTC One M8 using XDA Labs

Actually, the MID shouldn't matter.
With SuperCID, the MID check is bypassed. It's worked that way with the M7, M8, and M9. With the HTC 10 though, MID must be changed as SuperCID doesn't bypass the check.
Flashing the latest Verizon firmware should be enough. The RUU would only be necessary to run a stock ROM. If a custom ROM is going to be installed, the firmware flash will be enough.
He/she should make sure to flash a full stock firmware and not a "no wipe" version though, since the boot.img (stock kernel) will be removed on a no-wipe firmware package.
@xunholyx
thanks for make it clarity
but is there any thing else should be worried about after flashing WWE firmware over Verizon firmware
and i think he need the stock RUU

Well, flashing GSM firmware onto a CDMA device is NEVER recommended, so I do understand your thoughts here. And I do agree that running a RUU would be the best and cleanest way to convert back. Changing the MID back to Verizon's should not be necessary, but truthfully there is no reason not to. The OP should stick to Verizon firmware only, so the MID being changed back to 0P6B20000 would probably be a good idea. :highfive:

Well, I hope they know what they are doing. Because the phone was all kinds of messes up, and not every repair person would know how to fix it (if its even fixable). Someone at some point (if not you, then a former owner) tried to flash the unbranded Euro firmware to this Verizon device. The result is usually a radio brick, and the damage may be permanent.
Most that person can do, is flash the Verizon firmware and RUU (as others have stated) and hope it works properly after that. Unless they are going to replace the whole mainboard.
