Do your 5ghz and 2.4ghz have the same name?
Does it pick up your 2.4ghz when you set your phone 2.4ghz only mode.
What rom and update are you in?

1. No
2. No
3. Latest stock
... Nvm now that i used another house wifi and back again to my home it got fixed. I really dont understand what is going on

It maybe rom specific problem

[Q] Unable to see SSID of my 801.11n network

Hi all
I have just received an HTC Desire HD and when I try to connect to my home wifi network (which was using 801.11n) and the SSID wasn't shown in the list of available networks. I tried adding the network manually but it then just said that the network was "out of range, remembered". After that, I changed the settings on my wireless router to 801.11g and, lo-and-behold, it appeared on the phone.
I then updated the OS to Android 2.3.3 but, when I switched the router back to 801.11n it again couldn't find the wifi network. I don't want to be stuck with 801.11g (too much interference in my block of flats) and the phone is supposed to support 801.11n. I was wondering if there were any known issues with it (unsupported channels etc). I tried searching the forums for the last 10 mins with no luck.
I'm just using the standard ROM that came with the phone (not had a chance to play yet . Software version is 2.36.405.8
Thanks in advance
Vassago
Update
Ok - so googling around, I realised that I may have a bit of a fundamental misunderstanding of wifi.
On my router settings, I am given the option of choosing between 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I thought this was the difference between 801.11g and 801.11n... but apparently, 801.11n can also operate on the 2.4GHz band.
The interference I suffer from my neighbours is when I'm using the 2.4GHz band so I would prefer to use the 5GHz one. Are there any limitations on the device restricting the frequency bands it can use?
Thanks
Unfortunately, you can only use 2.4GHz N with the DHD.
Ouch
I wonder if I can cancel my contract still...
Oh well - thanks anyway.
Try to use another channel between 1-13 and stick to 2.4ghz band

Won't connect to Cisco E4200 router with N only G!

Hi,
Just received my Galaxy Nexus earlier today and have been battling to have it attempt a connection to my WiFi router at home, it'll have a go at the neighbours routers but just says 'saved' on mine and never connects or fails regardless of password given or settings used.
Well - I just found the issue, if I set the E4200 to 'G' mode the phone connects perfectly, but it WILL NOT connect to the router set to 'N' speeds on 2.4 or 5GHz using 20 or 40 MHz channel width.
Anyone found there are potential issues with this phone and 'N' routers? I should mention I've tried 3 different kernels (stock, modaco and franco) and 3 different ROM's (4.0.1 stock, 4.0.2 Revolution HD and 4.0.3 build in the dev section) and all exhibit the same issue. Have not changed baseband as I'm using a 'T' model and want to keep my I9250TDVKK6 modem - this is probably where the problem is anyway.
Anyone else having similar or found a workaround or solution? Thanks!
Hi,
have you tried settings the MHZ band on auto or anything besides just 20mhz band? not many devices like this channel, I'm not having any trouble on the Aerohive system at work or other Netgear at home.
Thanks for the thought! 20 is standard but I've tried every setting - it will connect on 2.4GHz using 'G' fixed speed/protocol or 5GHz only using 'A', neither works at all on 'N' on any channel, width or security
It is bizarre, it's like the phone decides it won't try and says "saved" on the profile once the password is put in when its on "N" there is no connecting, authenticating or getting an IP feedback at all, it does nothing really. If I choose another working AP after trying an "N" one the "N" one says 'disabled'.
My SGS2 worked flawlessly and without complaint previously on any "N" or otherwise setting.
I have the same model router, and it is working for me. I have both the 2.4 and 5 ghz set to mixed network mode. Channel width set to auto, and security/encryption matching on both frequencies. On the Nexus, I have the 5 ghz specified in Wifi settings.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I have this model and connect via the 5ghz connection with no problems.
Same with E3000 with DD-WRT and Virginmedia Superhub
I've been suffering with this problem for a while now. I bought mine on the 19th Nov and tried it out in pure 5 Ghz mode almost straight away and was very impressed with the throughput from my 50Mb Virginmedia cable connection (40+Mb/s with Speedtest.net app).
All was well until I suddenly couldn't connect. It said the SSID was saved and the signal was excellent but tapping "connect" did nothing. I presumed my phone was acting a little screwy so did a had reset (stock unrooted 4.01F YAKU) and tried again but still suffered the same problem.
I started to suspect it could be a channel issue as the GN only supports a handful of 5Ghz channels, so set them accordingly in DD-WRT on my E3000...same result.
To rule out the router, I activated the 5Ghz wireless on my Virginmedia Superhub and what do you think happened?? Exactly the same as before. Everytime I tapped connect, there was no evidence of and attempt to connect to the network. I then tried the 5Ghz SSID on the E3000 and got the same result with the Superhub one dropping back to "disabled" as the OP noticed.
I'm trying to recall if the problem occured before or after the volume fix OTA but I can't really remember to be honest. I'm sterting to think that the handset is faulty as only a couple of people seem to be suffering with this issue...
---------- Post added at 09:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:38 PM ----------
I Googled the issue again and discovered a post on Androids bug posting forum which seems to indicate it's a hardware fault:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23296
I think a trip back to Phones4U is in order for an exchange.
It's happened again!!
I have the same problem with the replacement handset as before. I had just been using 5Ghz, disconnected and when I tried to reconnect, it just sat there as if I hadn't selected "Connect". I've been looking around on various forums and I'm inclined to think that they just die after a while as there arer many other posts similar to this with lots of people trying saying the same as I (and the OP did). Mine has been fine for over 2 months and suddenly has ceased to work...Looks like a warranty replacement this time as P4U were kind enough to replace the handset in-store even though I was out of the 30 day exchange period as I had shown them this forum post indicating it was a known problem that other users were suffering...Technology always fails me in the end
..
Wi-Fi on the GN is horribly broken—you just need to accept it until the Android developers get their heads out their *sses and fix it. Using our Cisco enterprise-class access points, the GN cannot connect at 5GHz—though every other Wi-Fi device that supports 5GHz can. That said though, the GN CAN do 11n over 2.4GHz. Go into Settings, Wireless and Networks, Wi-Fi and tap on your SSID. This should show you your link speed and 72Mbps is as good as you’re going to get with a 20MHz channel and the GN hardware—mine shows 65Mbps and this is an 11n speed, albeit a slower one. From the configuration of our enterprise-class access points, 11g covers “6.0, 9.0, 12.0, 18.0, 24.0, 36.0, 48.0 and 54.0”—whereas 11n covers “m0-m15” (MCS index). The GN only supports m0-m7 and, currently, my GN is connecting at m6.
Hope this helps! At least a little.

[Q] N7100 5GHz WiFi issue

Hi XDA,
My Netgear router has Dual-band support 2.4GHz & 5GHz...
I don't have problem in 2.4GHz, if the N7100 is in standby mode or in restart it will get connect automatically when the system resumed...
In 5GHz mode it is connecting and speed is twice faster than 2.4GHz,But the problem is it is not connecting automatically when the system resumed from (standby or restarts)... i have checked all the WiFi policies in N7100 but no use.. am getting same Issue when i tried with different 5GHz routers....:crying:
am also am using iPhone5 its working fine in 5GHz mode...
Think XDA will solve my issue soon:angel:
Thanks in advance..
Plz share your experiences
Can any one help?
My N7100 is not connecting automatically to 5GHz WiFi router
i have similar issue with a tp-link tl-wdr4300 router, so it must be some phone limitation. i would also like a solution to that if it's possible.

I have the same problem and 3 firmwares have gone by and still the problem exists. Connecting to the 5ghz manually works but turning from off to on, the n7100 does not auto connect to the saved 5ghz wifi. I am using an Apple Airport Extreme at 5ghz-only mode.
Published spec includes 5GHz:
WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5 GHz), Wi-Fi HT40
I have netgear dual band too, but I cant test this because I set all the radios in my netgear plus my powerline extender to the same SSID so the phone can roam between them transparently.
5Ghz has a too short range for me unless I sit in the same room.
Is this related to the "wifi bug" that so many users report, in several threads?
You know, when wifi speed decreases to ridiculous levels, as soon as phone
goes into "sleep mode" (AKA as soon as the screen goes black). In that case
welcome to the club. I've been waiting for a fix since end of January, when we
all were "blessed" with the 4.1.2 fw. I don't think Sammy gives a s**t anymore.
With a revenue of about $8.3 million, I guess they don't care to give a f**k....
If the wifi problems aren't solved with the 4.2.2, this is my last Sammy.
The Note 2 definitely supports 5ghz 11n, but range is quite limited, due to the nature of 5ghz. I've found it only picks up channels < 48, regardless of which region it's set to. Setting a static IP speeds up resume from sleep at times.
I was facing same problem as u mention, repeatedly i gave for repair to authorised service centre & finally they replaced a board, now wifi is works like charm.

Thanx alot! That was news to all of us, I think!
It's strange though, that the problem on my phone
only appeared AFTER the 4.1.2 fw was installed.
Perhaps I should just pass it over to the service
guys, instead of waiting another month(s)....
Anyway, mucho obligado for the info!
Of course it was not easy,I was keep flashing different country stock rom in hop may now they fix the issue, when given first & second time to service centre, they kept my mobile for 3 to 4 days & return me saying no problem found,I am regular reader of XDA so aware of SDS also, I was feeling like cheated by samsung, carrying sick mobile all the time since I have Insane cheap also, but finally they replaced motherboard with sane cheap & one more board for Wifi issue.
Is this issue not the same like the roaming bug? My N 7105 has got both.
I solved it on n7105 with the latest firmware. It now roams smoothly on wifi and it prefers 5 ghz close to the router, at -40 db.

[FIX] Wifi connection drops

I just discovered this with a little research with people having similar wifi problems. Simply change your router settings to 2.4 ghz band instead of 5 ghz band. For some reason the G4 is having problems with 5 ghz bands.
Or if you cant do that, just connect your phone to the 2.4 ghz band of your wifi if your router is dual broadcasting.

I'm trying it, not sure if it'll work. I've had 2.4 and 5 networks saved, i've just deleted the 5 network, we'll see if it's better.
Adding this line to my build.prop seems to have fixed this issue for me. I'm still testing but my phone isn't having any issues on the 5Ghz AC band.

Didn't work for me
not connecting to 5Ghz is NOT a fix at all..
i didn't tried the scan intervall, i'll test it.
but i can confirm that either the reception is low and that the phone love to loose the signal :/
It also sometimes says that it has bad internet conneciton, so it refuse to connect (didn't found the setting to disable this stupidity... I know that on stock android under wifi settings you can disable this behaviour)
Sometimes it is also refusing to connect to a wifi... it just say registering and stoped...
only way to force it : reboot the phone...
hope that a software update will fix these issues.

Oneplus 3 - Issues with 5GHz WiFi?

Hello,
I seem to be having an issue with connecting to my 802.11ac router (Apple's Time Capsule). In "Automatic" mode, it connects to my SSID via 2.4GHz only. When I go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced and choose Wi-Fi Frequency band as 5Ghz it finds 0 networks in the area.
FYI - I'm on 3.1.3 OxygenOS.
Is anyone experiencing similar issues?
Best,
Mash
Edit: To be clear, I have several devices including my laptop that are connected to the 5Ghz band. I've also used a WiFi scanner in my old S6 Edge to verify that there are SSIDs broadcasting in the 5Ghz band.
I use 5 GHz network at home and it works fine with my op3.
Wysłane ze zmywarki
using 5Ghz on Fritzbox, i also use diffrent ssid names for 2,4 and 5ghz and also different passwords
Thanks guys. Are both of you on 3.1.3? I'm trying to isolate the issue here...

Got a 3TB time capsule here. OOS 3.1.3 - on automatic, it only connects to 2G despite having full 5G signal, however if i switch it to 5G only, it finds both main and guest networks in that band and connects fine Try re-flashing stock rom
Thanks - I'll try and do a nandroid backup and reflash to see if that fixes the issue.

Check what frequency and channel width your 5ghz band is set to, one time I changed my 2.4ghz and my ps4 couldn't detect it til I changed back.
Just tried 5Ghz without issue using channel widths 20Mhz, 40Mhz, and 80Mhz.

Thanks guys. I wonder if I've got a lemon.
I've just reflashed 3.1.3 and even then can't find or detect ANY 5GHz SSIDs. This is so frustrating.
I guess a call to support is the way forward.

Check if you are able to connect to a different 5GHz Network. It _might_ be an issue with the router itself.
Mine OP3 connects to 2.4 and 5 without any problems (TP-Link Archer C7).

Try going into advanced wifi settings and setting your network mode to 5ghz only. Inconvenient but will do the job.
